I am toying with the idea of weighing monthly, just purely to avoid any disappointment on low loss weeks. Does anyone else do this?

Me. I weighed after week 1 then was on holiday without scales for week 2. Decided then to do monthly. I have a tendency to get a bit obsessed with what the scales say and I'm hoping this reduces the obsession and also balances out fluctuations a bit.

My nsv today - tried on a pair of (admittedly stretchy) size 14 jeans that I couldn't get past my knees a month ago and they fit perfectly!

Gilly1C · 04/11/2024 08:51

@PickleSarnie Amazing!!!! Well done

Missreginafalange · 04/11/2024 08:52

Morning all

Coming to the end of week2, will weigh tomorrow but have noticed I am hungry this morning when I woke up which I haven't done so far, I think when it comes to reordering I will move up to 5mg.

For anyone else wondering about probiotics I've started using the optibac ones and have noticed a difference with stomach.

Gr3atEscape · 04/11/2024 08:52

I do it weekly and I am enjoying the check in at the moment and I'm not so obsessed with it like I have been in the past. Monthly makes so much more sense for women though as water retention and hormonal factors influence the result when looking week to week.

Gilly1C · 04/11/2024 08:53

@KolaKoalaKan LOL

Missreginafalange · 04/11/2024 08:58

@Gilly1C I am thinking of doing this, my relationship with the scales can be tumultuous and depending on what i see can affect my eating and self sabotage, even though i know the body fluctuates and we hold water etc. I think once a month will take all this away.

littleburn · 04/11/2024 09:20

@Gilly1C I'm the same - I get obsessive with weighing and the number affects my mood way too much. I'm weighing myself every 3 weeks or so as I figure that will override any minor fluctuations, plus focusing on NSVs like clothes feeling looser.

Tohaveandtohold · 04/11/2024 09:56

@Gilly1C , DH was just telling me to start doing the same so that I’m not obsessed with the numbers but I don’t think I can wait more than 2 weeks before checking my weight. I’m thinking if for example in 2 weeks, there has not been a change, I can try and see what I’m not doing right like start consciously checking my calorie intake the next week, etc rather than wait for a whole month before I realise. Also, because I’m not moving straight to 5mg, if the lower dose is no longer having the expected impact, I can quickly think of increasing the dose and similar. We’ll see how it goes.

HansHolbein · 04/11/2024 10:34

@rockingbird Well done! I am also really thirsty!

@letshavetea Annoying but it’s a loss in the right direction! Will you go to 5mg next time?

@SunQueen24 Ugh sorry you feel like shit. Maybe you feel nauseous because you need to eat? Do you like cheese and crackers? Sometimes that helps.. me anyway.

@AllstarFacilier Woohoo! You should notice a difference within 3 days. I hope it happens for you soon!

@TheOtherSide21 Amazing loss and glad the 5mg is working for you!

@Gilly1C That isn’t a bad shout. If I start slowing I will probably do that.

HansHolbein · 04/11/2024 10:37

I just took my last 2.5mg. Want to start injecting on a Monday so a day early for me. Feeling good. No side effects. Did have the shits yesterday but I think that might have been the bacon. Whenever I eat bacon (rarely) this always happens! It tastes soooo good though.

Lost 3lb this week. So in 3 weeks I am down 1st 0.2lbs.

5’5 PCOS
SW: 16st 2.7lbs
CW: 15st 2.5lbs

The weight loss is of course great but my mind is so free, that is what I am most grateful for.

Have a great day everyone!

letshavetea · 04/11/2024 10:50

@HansHolbein Congrats on your loss this week!
It’s fine. I was 12 stone 10 and 3/4 pounds at the end of September (lost a bit before starting MJ). I have hypothyroidism and awaiting tests to see if I need more medication. If so, that might help with weight loss!
I already have my 5mg pen in stock so I can increase the dose on my return from holiday. Didn’t want too much suppression or side effects whilst away. Sleepless night last night and nausea today. Always seems to happen the day after injecting (Sunday night for me).

DeltaAlphaDelta79 · 04/11/2024 10:50

W3D1 today, 3rd jab of 2.5mg.
SW 17'10
CW 17'6

Still a little disappointed with 4 pounds off in 2 weeks, especially seeing some of the other results on here. I could do 3-4 pounds a week off, relatively consistently, when following SW, if my head was in the game. But, a loss is still a loss!

I went away for the weekend, and that would normally be an opportunity to go a bit nuts food and drink wise, but I still didn't fancy much, and when I did eat, it was less than I normally would, so it is definitely still working!

Am looking at my options for 5mg, which I will order in the next week. My current supplier is selling at £179 but IQDoctor has it for £139 still, so will contact my current place about price matching. IQDoctor is happy for me to provide screenshots of my last order, to start me off at 5mg.

Still no significant side effects, which is good, but I am anticipating that to change when I step up.

The thread moves faster than I can read it, so probably wont read everything, but well done to those with losses, especially big ones!

rockingbird · 04/11/2024 11:05

I step on the scales daily - this is a first for me as I've avoided them for about 2 years 🙈🙈🙈

Breakfast this morning was porridge and I've managed half a portion. I'm just not that into food, it's most bizarre. I'm finding the electrolytes drink is really helping me! It gives me energy and stops the shaky feeling I seem to have. I bought myself a tuna and pasta salad for lunch, I'll see if I can get that in me later.

rockingbird · 04/11/2024 11:05

Slow and steady wins the race @DeltaAlphaDelta79 well done!

SunQueen24 · 04/11/2024 11:23

Well done everyone - 24 hours on and I’m feeling much better (and Aunt Flo has arrived which explains a lot!!).

Suppression is still very high. Been drinking water with electrolytes in - which perks me up no end. This is a habit I think I might carry forward post MJ as it makes such a difference to me. It’s like drinking lucozade but I’ve got sugar free ones.

I think I could almost do with half a 2.5mg dose. I am thinking this will be my last shot, the weight loss has been great but I’m not sure I can justify these side effects. The last 24 hours of anxiety has been debilitating.

Fizzleaway1 · 04/11/2024 11:44

@HansHolbein well done!

@DeltaAlphaDelta79 it’s tough when the scales are not dropping how you would like but keep with it. It will all be worth it in the end.

Fizzleaway1 · 04/11/2024 11:46

What’s everyone’s plans for Christmas and MJ?

Anyone planning to diet or over Xmas or allowing themselves extra treats?

We normally go all out at Xmas food wise. We already have 2 huge cheesecakes on order from a lovely cafe and planned all the food for Mon-Friday as we are away at Xmas. I’m hoping I can at least sts that week but it will be tough.

@Fizzleaway1 Christmas Day is supposed to be my injection day. I haven’t started 5mg yet (next week) and am still on 2.5mg, but I’m finding I’m still able to eat and enjoy my food, just a bit less of it (not a bad thing with my Christmas dinner portions!), and have managed the odd glass of wine without any ill effects, so if this is still the case on 5mg I’ll just carry on as normal. If on 5mg I notice adverse effects the day after taking or suppression to the point I struggle to eat, I may just choose to delay a day and enjoy Christmas Day and then take on Boxing Day.

annedawso · 04/11/2024 12:00

I monitor my daily calories using Nutracheck so as long as I am not eating more than my allowance not going to increase from 2.5mg as several Drs on podcasts I have listened to say as long as appetite suppressed not particularly good for us to up the dosage.
i will order 5mg pen, but just do 30 clicks to get the 2.5mg dose and use it a bit longer.

Oneeata · 04/11/2024 12:05

Morning all.
4 weeks at 2.5 dose and I've lost 1st 8lbs as of today. I've had a horrible cold last few days and still managed to stay on track not wanted to comfort eat at all. I've been tracking meticulously all food and staying well under 1400 calories. I'm even weighing things like sausages as found even though shows per item if you put the actual weight into nutracheck it often differs both ways. I've had almost zero side effects other than slight headache first week and the odd urgent run to the loo but nothing as bad as I did with Ozempic.
Took my first 5mg last night and have a slightly groggy head this morning but slept sound as a top last night and woke with a start this morning to the house alarm going off after a power cut and so I'm putting it down to that ☺️. Slightly thirstier than normal this morning, I've already nearly glugged through 2 litres of water plus a fanta zero.

We can do this!

I normally take a week or so off from any diet I am on over christmas/NY, however we are away for 2 weeks in Jan and my usual Jab day is the day before we travel, so I keep jabbing over christmas and jab the day before I go. It is also the 4th week of a cycle the day before we go, so would normally be on the last dose before deciding whether to go up or not.

I won't take my jab abroad I don't think, as we are travelling to India and they can be very funny with medication, so as its not essential I will leave it at home and see what happens, and just pick it up when I get back.

killamounjaro · 04/11/2024 12:43

W5 D1
Took the bonus dose this morning, a day earlier again as want Monday to be my injection day going forward. Last week was definitely harder, so I'm pleased that I ordered the 5mg pen.
Bonus dose was around 0.75ml (used insulin needle) which i worked out to be 3.12, was hoping to get closer to 3.75mg but must have wasted some during priming. Pleased to say using the insulin needle wasn't a problem at all, had visions of me bottling out and not being able to do it, but it was fine!
Just hoping that the small increase gives me a bit more suppression for longer this week. Nevertheless it was a good test to have some food noise and resist diving into the biscuit tin, and make healthy choices when I felt hungry.
Also did a Caroline Girvan 30 mins leg workout on Friday and still can't bloody sit down without a lot of groaning and discomfort but still went to the gym this morning and am starting to feel the benefit of those endorphins you get from regular exercise.
Here's to another successful week for us all hopefully

littleburn · 04/11/2024 12:44

@Fizzleaway1 I'm planning on injecting as normal over Christmas and eating what I fancy, but knowing the suppression means I won't eat lots of it!

recklessgran · 04/11/2024 12:49

@SunQueen I'm sorry you've been having such a ghastly time. Would it be worth trying a two thirds dose of your 2.5mgs pen? That would be 45 clicks. I know it's a bit controversial but I also had terrible side effects and a weekend in bed after my second 2.5mgs so I tried a half dose to see if that would work for me. That was great from the side effects point of view - no side effects but only minimal suppression so I had to exercise quite a bit more self control. From what you describe I wonder if reducing the dose below 2.5mgs might work for you and then gradually titrate upwards in baby steps. Either way, I hope you feel better soon.

MissSmith80 · 04/11/2024 12:55

Happy Monday everyone.

My 5mg pen has just been delivered. I'm really pleased with MedExpress, ordered on Saturday, here today and with 6 needles. I also submitted a price match request but waiting to hear back.

It's my 4th 2.5 jab tomorrow. I've definitely been eating more this week - no food noise as such but less full. So think I need to up my dose, suspect I'll use the bonus dose next week and then 3.75 for a week or 2 after. I figured it was silly not to get the 5mg pen when it was the same price - at least I have the option to go up to 5 then. Although if (and I'm not sure it will) it stays at this level. I'd be happy to stay on 2.5 - it's enough to keep me away from crisps/chocolate/cake so the food I am having is good stuff.

My challenge now is to add in strength training, I was listening to a podcast about the risk of muscle mass loss and the implications of that, particularly for women, so need to up my game on that one.

I'll update with my end of week 3 stats tomorrow, not expecting a huge loss as I settle into this and was away for a few days last week but hopeful of a lb.
