Start on 5mg tomorrow. So far after 4 full weeks lost 1st 1lb very happy with that. Felt my suppression wavering towards the end so for my last jab on 2.5 I did that hard twist and got 3.75 which helped so feeling comfortable to move up to 5mg tomorrow.

Doing the hard twist way, you would only get a other 2.5 out of the pen. To get more you would need to use a syringe.. its the way the thing is shaped, the plunger won't go all the way down to be flat, so u leave a small amount in there..

OrlandointheWilderness · 01/11/2024 06:40

First week - down 10lb!
Fucking hell.
That's insane.

recklessgran · 01/11/2024 06:52

@OrlandointheWilderness Wow that's brilliant well done you!
W3D1 for me and I've lost 1.5lbs in week two which I admit I'm slightly disappointed with.
Apart from biscuitgate yesterday I've been doing everything right but I guess age [68] and medicated underactive thyroid won't be helping me.
Never mind I'm still 7lbs down in two weeks which is more than I've been able to lose in a fortnight ever or in fact all year so far despite numerous attempts to stay on the wagon. At least now I've got zero food noise for five out of seven days I believe I can do this.

Well done @recklessgran! Half a stone down is a fair achievement, especially on month 1 went theoretically you should lose anything at all 😂

You can do this! We can all do this. 7lbs in 2 weeks is great!

Even half a lb now will get you into the next stone category.

recklessgran · 01/11/2024 07:13

@OrlandointheWilderness yes, I really feel for those not losing at all - I know I would find that soul destroying although rationally I get that we're on a low dose at the moment and shouldn't be expecting much. But we are!
@Fizzleaway1 yes, the 14's have been winking at me all week [daily weigher] but this morning it was not to be! Onwards and upwards [or rather downwards!] as they say.
Have a good day all.

TheOtherSide21 · 01/11/2024 08:23

5th weigh in for me and I’ve lost 6.5lbs this week to take me to a total of 27.5lbs - so half a pound off two stone!

I’ve had the odd person notice - saying it’s noticeable in my face- but apart from that I don’t look like I’ve lost a lot - but I have a lot to lose.

I feel so much better in myself, and still have next to no side effects. The 5mg has me still able to eat, and eat regularly- but I just get full quicker so need to be mindful of not wasting food and prioritising the most nutritional parts of the meal.

Went out for tea last night and had steak frites - managed the steak and about 1/3 of the chips but that was absolutely fine and more than a decent meal.

I am also less rigid with my calories / macros. I was protein loading and I felt it was slowing down my digestion too much so I have a fruit smoothie with protein yoghurt most mornings and that has massively helped, with no detriment to my weight loss (if anything I think it’s helping).

@TheOtherSide21 that’s amazing! In just a month??

5 weeks! I’ve taken my doses a day (or so) early every week though so I’m three jabs into 5mg. Started on the 27th September.

AnneinEdinburgh · 01/11/2024 09:07

Day 3 of my first 2.5mg here. I found the twisty syringe almost impossible, but maybe it gets easier. I had a huge headache yesterday but feeling ok today. I got mine from Superdrug and it was £240 so must chose one of the cheaper places. They inform my GP - has anyone had any negative reactions from their GP when they find out that you are using MJ not through MHS?

letshavetea · 01/11/2024 09:23

@AnneinEdinburgh - recommend drinking at least 2 l of water a day to help with headaches. Ouch re the price paid. I paid £139 with Oushk and they currently have a discount until 4th November taking a 2.5mg pen down to £116. They’ve been great so far.

Yes water really helps I got the headaches too.
@letshavetea can I ask where you find the Oushk November discount code please?

letshavetea · 01/11/2024 09:47

@flowerlady2 - I’ve sent you a pm as we’re not allowed to put codes on here!

UtterlyQuackers · 01/11/2024 09:48

Have a look on the discount code thread for a MedExpress code. Or I can pm you one. Gives you £40 off. £240 seems really expensive @AnneinEdinburgh

recklessgran · 01/11/2024 09:49

@AnneinEdinburgh I contacted my GP before I ordered for the first time as I've got an underactive thyroid for which I'm on levo so I thought I'd better check. To be honest I felt she was a bit snotty - she basically said it was up to the prescriber to decide whether it would be O.K. or not and seemed a bit annoyed that I was checking with her. The reason I was so shocked was because my surgery really are brilliant, never a problem getting an appointment, phone calls to check how we are etc - astonishingly good until this episode and I admit I was quite upset! Oh well.

UtterlyQuackers · 01/11/2024 09:50

I'm still not feeling any side effects apart from a bit of a headache but I have been suffering for migraines this month so it might be left over from that.

I stuck to about 1200 calories yesterday hopefully that is low enough!

recklessgran · 01/11/2024 09:51

@AnneinEdinburgh don't forget to fo through Topcashback if you do go with MedExpress because you can get £10 off with your first pen from them.

ruethewhirl · 01/11/2024 09:53

Anyone else find the suppression tapered off a bit towards the end of the first week? I realise it's still early days/a low dose...

I'm almost at the end of my second week and my suppression has really waned. I'm having to be very careful about what eat as I am hungry.

Yes, same here, hoping the next jab will top it up a little as initially I was getting quite a good level of suppression, considering it's such early days.

Yes for me but I like the fact that even on MJ, I’m still able to use my will power as that’ll help when I need to come off it. When I was having dinner yesterday, I could have eaten thrice what I did because I didn’t feel full but I just ate what I plated myself and drank lots of water and I didn’t wake up hungry this morning so that’s good. I have my bonus Jab and next weigh in tomorrow.
Well done everyone on your losses and those losses are so impressive @OrlandointheWilderness and @TheOtherSide21 . Good to see these as it keeps us all motivated.

Choux · 01/11/2024 11:06

It's a weekly cycle - take the injection, good suppression for a few days and then it wears off a bit and you can eat more on days 5 and 6. I am now on 15mg and still see that pattern.

As someone said, it's a chance to practice willpower / good choices and, as the weeks pass, you realise what portion size actually is enough for your newly shrunken stomach. If you plan days 5-7 for when you are most likely to be seeing friends for meals etc it let's you eat a bit more normally which is good if you are not telling people you are on Mounjaro.
