Hi, I started 2 weeks ago and have lost 10.5lbs

I need to lose about 12/13 stone altogether, I have given myself until my 50th in September 2026,

I am disabled so I can't really do exercise but once I've lost 5/6 stone I will try swimming.

Good luck to everyone Flowers

Welcome
That's brilliant, your doing really well .I swim , exercise in water takes the pressure of the joints ..

Wooo! I’ve finally lost my first stone after 6 weeks 🎉
@Cakesandcookiesnomore I don’t get the full on suppression, but I do experience it mildly usually 2 to 3 days after a jab. Try to concentrate more on the feeling full after a meal and that fullness lasting longer than pre MJ days. It’s good brain training.
@pomegra good luck with your weigh in today!

10.5lbs is brilliant! I have 10 stone to loose to get to the highest “acceptable” BMI for my height, I don’t believe that’s ever going to happen! That would put me around 9.5 stone, I was probably around 9.5 years the last time I saw that weight and I dread to think how much excess skin I would be left with at that weight. I’d be over the moon with 12 to 13 stone I think.

Can anyone recommend a gentle but worthwhile exercise plan to follow?

I like to follow these two on YouTube, they do two different intensities in each video and I find them really easy to follow. I have this playlist saved (hopefully it will work)
https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRCgg2aTq5NWjbav8TVXatCRijJlwuU0M&si=sM0znLFJEQ9AOi7X

edited as the link didn’t appear to work - search for HASfit, then on the playlist tab look for the exercises for seniors, obese, plus size and limited mobility.

edited again! The link does work 😂

I've lost 4lb in my first week. I am feeling really pleased about it.

Last night I did my second jab and I had a bit of a restless night, feeling achy etc so had to keep repositioning. Today no appetite so I've only had a light salad lunch but going to make some chicken and salad tacos for tea to get more protein and veg in.

Second 2.5 jab?
That's a brilliant loss

I've lost a stone and a half the last time I weighed myself, but I've not weighed in 2 weeks..it really effects my mood if I weigh and I don't like the result ,I often self sabotage and eat everything in sight to punish myself... ridiculous I know .
So I have to be in a good frame of mind to weigh ,or at least be 99%sure there will be a loss .
Clothes are definitely looser ,and I'm not snacking at all ,so there is progress,I'm such an impatient person,so I need to accept this is a marathon not a sprint

Thanks @Iwouldratherbesinging and @Cakesandcookiesnomore I'm really happy with the progress and how I'm feeling. Yes second 2.5mg jab so my week 2 has started now.

I totally get how you feel @Cakesandcookiesnomore - nothing more demotivating when you've had a good week/month and to not see it on the scales. Even though our head tells us this is normal with bodies and it fluctuates, it's hard in the moment to not be disappointed. Your approach to not weigh is a good one

OliviaFlaversham · 20/11/2024 20:41

Thanks @pomegra and @Cakesandcookiesnomore - I love swimming but I think I need a short YouTube or app type thing where I can do it in the morning before the kids get up otherwise I just won’t fit it in. I’ll try what you’ve linked @Iwouldratherbesinging. Thank you!

healthybychristmas · 20/11/2024 23:35

It's really interesting that you've lost 1.5 stone because I've read the whole thread and I thought you'd hardly lost anything. That's amazing! I think the only way to cope with this injection is to think some days I will feel hungry but that doesn't mean I have to overeat. I know that sounds obvious but in the past the moment I felt hungry I would get up and go into the kitchen whereas now I just think oh that's interesting I'm feeling hungry, let's wait a while and see how things go. I usually forget then that I was hungry. My weight loss feels slow but I have lost over three stone since the start of June so that isn't slow as it? One thing I have noticed is that I have never stuck to a diet for longer than about eight days before now. The other thing is that when I was on a diet, and I have been on thousands of diets, it would preoccupy me so that all I could think about was food. I spend about 5% of the time thinking about food compared to the hundred percent before.

Cakesandcookiesnomore · 21/11/2024 14:47

Yes ,I hardly think about food either now .
Mine feels slow to ,but I'm impatient and I got sucked in to all the articles and tictoks about it being a quick fix ..so it did come as a shock that the weight didn't just drop of .
This is the first time I've lost weight with a sensible approach, and not just starved myself, then binged .
I get jittery when I read a negative article about weight loss jabs .
I'm a ball of anxiety and contradiction 🙂

@healthybychristmas I’ve been doing something similar with the I’m hungry, let’s see what happens. I always thought that I was convinced I knew the difference between hunger and thirst, but now I’m on MJ drinking is definitely reducing the hunger feeling, to the point that it’s filling me up, I’m questioning myself about knowing the difference now! And I second that @Cakesandcookiesnomore, 1.5 stone is amazing.
Another way of thinking about it, all these TikTok people are losing weight so quickly, how are they going to maintain that quick loss, are they eating with a sensible calorie deficit or treating it as another crash diet. I feel the frustration too as we have so much more to lose, but we are more likely to keep that weight off surely as we have had longer to retrain our brains and stomachs.

I'm starting to understand that a had no clue about any of the signals I have been taking as hunger! I'm getting full tummy feeling that unused to think was 'feed me more I'm still hungry', thirst that was confused fir hunger and generally being bored and looking for something to do which is obviously not hunger ether!

StressedEric · 22/11/2024 08:09

I've been lurking for a while but finally posting as the scales have finally dropped into the 200s after a mid September start, I am about to do my first 7.5 injection. I had a stall week in the mid 5mg cycle which was very depressing, and usually I would have eaten my way through everything and given up. But as I have invested ££ into this, for once I did not give in .
Like everyone else, having the food noise switched off has been life changing. The changes I have made : Logging everything on MFP with a weekly calorie goal of staying under 10,000 , drinking 1.5-2.5l a day, reducing caffeine down to one early morning hot drink, plus only eating between 11am and 7pm - not quite 16:8 but as near as I can . I have had alcohol and eaten out when I had a reason to, eg family birthday, night at the theatre etc, but tried to make healthier choices and planned these into my weekly calories. Onwards to the mid 200s !

TorturedParentsDepartment · 22/11/2024 09:38

In a month (combined with naturally losing the holiday weight as I started when I came back) I've gone from 24st 12lb to 22st 6lb, knocked a whole number off my BMI, 5cm off my waist (unfortunately none of my overly upholstered arse). I'll be honest - the first 2 weeks were bliss for the willpower (and crap for the side effects) - but now the food noise is back quite loudly and I'm having to exert a lot of willpower to keep going - but I've managed to do so so far.

I definitely do eat more on the days I don't get the full water amount in .

What strength of injections are you on .
Maybe it's time to go up to the next one

Stuff I've picked up on ,just reading around tictok ,and articles and threads on Mumsnet ,
Why is the NHS pushing weight loss surgery, and not offering these injections
So many people saying the Injections are not offered in their area ,but surgery is .
Yet a fair amount of people put weight back on after surgery and are now also using injections.
If it's about the money, the injections cost a lot less than surgery.
In my area you can choose to go on a waiting list for either .
But I've heard of people being told they will only get funding for surgery because of a higher starting weight

@JaroSally @Cakesandcookiesnomore I was just thinking the other day that when I work on site, I tend to drink more water and I was wondering if that was why I lose more weight when Im there!

I'm only on 2.5mg at the moment, have the extra overfill shot in the pen remaining and then a 5mg pen waiting in the fridge.

To celebrate actually feeling some hope - I've booked myself a nail appointment to try to tackle the mangled bitten mess that my nails have been in all my life!

OliviaFlaversham · 23/11/2024 10:07

@Cakesandcookiesnomore thanks for all your insights and inputs, I am finding them so useful.

Weekly weigh in and injection. Last 2.5 dose today.
starting BMI 50.4
Week 1 weigh in -14lbs
Week 2 weigh in -9lbs
Week 3 weigh in -5lbs
current BMI 46
It’s taken a fair bit of will power so I’m looking forward to the 5 dose next week and hoping no negative side affects of increasing the dose.

I'm now on week 4 of 5 mg.after I eat anything I'm feeling sick for hours.
It's really not good ,it started a couple of days ago ,
If I don't eat I feel fine ,not hungry or anything
I'm currently eating 2 meals a day of 500 calories each ,plus a milky coffee at breakfast.
I've tried varying the food ,and it seems to make no difference what I eat ..
I really really don't like feeling sick ,so I've been drinking sweet tea to try to shift it ,but nothing is working.
Next week I'm supposed to go up to 7.5 which I'm now worried about the increase.
Any ideas what I can do ,or what's suddenly causing it
