Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

Could I take my shot after 5 days instead of 7?

user1471453978 · 15/11/2024 20:17

Hi all,
Coming to join you. I have taken my first 2.5ml injection of mounjaro today. Weight has been steadily creeping up over the last few years and now at 38 have decided to do something drastic after years of yoyo dieting. At 5 foot 4 my starting weight is 18 stone. Hopefully this will be the thing that works for me. Looking forward to getting advice and tips from others on the same journey.

Utterly despondent. Today I've had 1 cup of tea, 1 coffee, eaten a banana, a vanilla protein mousse and had to buy lunch of an itsu pot noodle and a teeny bag of chicken fridge raiders. Where on earth an I going wrong? Just had a sneaky peek at the scales ahead of tomorrow and I've put on 0.1kg since last Saturday.

Just had an email about buying the 5mg. I can't eat much less than I am. Have cut out alcohol completely so if nothing else I should be saving those calories at least. Really not sure whether it's worth pursuing for me 😞

I think you’re not eating enough either, this is about 550 calories which may be enough for a fasting day but should be mixed up with other days closer to your TDEE. Starvation mode is a thing.

I have taken my 2nd injection at lunchtime today and already feeling some supression. To be honest I was a little disappointed with 4lb loss, with a bmi of 38.1 I expected more. But it is a loss nethertheless and a good loss for one week. Slow and steady is the way to go.

I learnt quite a bit this week, I am teetotal by choice, have been for a few years but my vice was always chocolate & fizzy drinks. I haven't had either for over 7 days, which is a miracle in itself.

Suppression stopped around day 4 for me, so it has taken a lot of willpower to avoid them. On day 5, all I could think about was chocolate. I started trying to convince myself that a small square wouldn't hurt, but for me, I know I am not the type of person who can walk away. So it's all or nothing for me... and I am choosing nothing.

I started drinking lots on the first few days, but by day 4, I was so frustrated with constantly needing to pee that i started drinking less. So, I'm trying to increase again.

I am beginning to realise I previously didn't drink enough and mistook thirst for dehydration.

I have enough money saved for 12 months . I am hiping to lose 6 stone in total and also want to use this as an opportunity to reset my cravings and relearn healthy eating and portion sizes after years of yoyo dieting.

I’ve just done my second 2.5mg jab tonight.
I ordered MJ from MedExpress on 31st Oct but due to delays it didn’t come til the Tuesday after. Hence my first jab being last Friday and second jab tonight.

Starting weight on 31st Oct was 19st 8lbs. Weighed myself this morning and I’m down to 18st 9lbs. Lost 13 lbs so far, so I’m pleased.

I’ve had some appetite suppression and haven’t snacked anywhere near as much as I used to. Feeling positive. Still got 7st to go so fingers crossed.

Well done to everyone on this thread, I rarely comment but just wanted to give you all a high five.

ShaunaSadeki · 15/11/2024 21:56

W2 D3 and the suppression hasn’t kicked in as much this week 😢, was less hungry on Tuesday before taking jab 2 on Weds. I am holding firm tonight but could easily crack the wine open and hoping it kicks back in tomorrow, it took from Weds to Friday evening last week and peaked on Sat/Sun.

ShaunaSadeki · 15/11/2024 21:57

That’s amazing @LimeLace, you must be chuffed

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 15/11/2024 22:03

Yes, I lost 7lbs first week, obviously a lot of eater weight etc.

Senna didn't work . Still only passing rock like 💩

Wow that’s a great loss for week 1. Sorry you’re constipated though, is awful, you may find a stool softener helps and is gentle on the system (I find the Macrogol powders like Laxido the best) you don’t need a prescription as you can now get it OTC from places like Superdrug:

I also thought your cals might be too low for day to day (and may trigger the dreaded starvation/ preservation mode) make sure to get enough cals and especially protein to protect against muscle loss. Also watch out for salt like in those noodle pots and the fridge raiders as they tend to be high (I retain water like a camel if I have too much salty food)

I've been really poorly again today.
Huge nausea and I've had to stay in bed. I'm not sure if this the wegovy or my autoimmune disease.
I felt dizzy. Anyone else had that? W2 D5

Sorry you’ve had it rough Mrsredlipstick is so hard to tell if it might be the WLI or AI. I did feel a bit dizzy once in week 1 but it passed after about half hour. See how you feel in the morning, hopefully the rest has helped , a bit of ginger tea is good for nausea. Let us know how you’re doing 🩷

whereareyousleep · 15/11/2024 17:17

W2D4 and the suppression is in effect and I've been tracking calories 12-1400 yet in 10 days I have only lost a measly 1lb. Still 4st down from ozempic/wegovy overall though. But not really lost anything for months so feeling a bit demoralised will keep going in hopefully it will start moving at some point!

Hi whereareyousleep your cals sound good, I’ve had this before where the scales haven’t shifted but have actually lost inches - is it worth taking your measurements to have a check as it may show up more there? 4 stone down overall is absolutely amazing, you’ve done so great to get here, don’t give up!🌸

Also 1lb might not sound like a lot, but try holding it in your hand, 1lb of fat is actually quite considerable. It’s nearly 2 blocks of butter!

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 15/11/2024 23:25

Aw man judt had too much chocolate. I'm really worried this isn't going to work out for me 😢

Jabtastic · 16/11/2024 00:01

Stuffed myself tonight. Junk food galore. If 5mg doesn't help then I'll probably give up I can start it on Wednesday.

Sorry you are having such a rough time @Mrsredlipstick x

Goldleafcat · 16/11/2024 07:31

W3 D6 (I think? Next jab on Monday).
Had fish and chips for dinner last night and I’ve put on 2lbs on the scales since yesterday morning. Feeling very hungry now too.

Was in the office yesterday so did a good amount of walking. No breakfast and a sandwich for lunch. Been good all week, no weight loss. One ‘naughty’ meal and a gain. Makes sense after a splurge but was hoping I’d see a downward shift from the week.

I do think I am wired up wrong somehow. If I was marooned on a desert island for a few years, I’m pretty sure I’d still be a size 16 / 18!

namechangedyetagain · 16/11/2024 07:53

I'm glad I'm not the only one finding my scales are stuck!

Yesterday I really struggled trying to find a supermstket unch to take to work. Really didn't know what would be a good option. Tried to read the labels and ended up really confused.

What should I be aiming to eat in a day do you think?

OliviaFlaversham · 16/11/2024 08:17

3rd injection (that’s gone quickly!) done this morning and weekly weigh in. I’m photographing the scales each week as had to do so for approval initially with Asda and thought I’d carry on to track my weight and maybe show my GP.

week 1: - 14lbs
week 2: - 9lbs

Last night I really could have binged which was a horrible feeling and I was even thinking about how I could get junk food so I was very glad to inject this morning.

Mrsredlipstick · 16/11/2024 08:25

@OliviaFlaversham wow and well done.

I think because of the mj suppressing my appetite I’m finding it a lot easier to look at food a lot less emotionally.

Most of the supermarket lunch meal deal type things are ridiculously calorific! If I need a lunch on the go thing now, I’m getting some cold meats like sliced chicken or beef; and a bag of cherry tomatoes or a bag of salad, I also might grab some babybels.

piscofrisco · 16/11/2024 09:10

In on wk1 day 5. Still not super hungry but could eat. No side effects to speak of so I feel lucky but still worried they might be on the way.
Going out for dinner tonight and worried in two counts: one that I won't know what to eat, and two that it won't be much fun. I love going out for dinner and having a few drinks. (Which is why I need the damn jab in the first place probably). How do people manage when out for dinner and such?

I’m the same, had a chippy tea. Gained as well, but know it will be off i. a couple of days x
