November Mounjaro Starters

Nowthereistwo · 23/10/2024 17:28

Hi, I've just been prescribed Mounjaro and it's being dispatched in a few days.

So I was wondering if there were others starting soon who wanted to have a chat.

OP posts:
KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 15/11/2024 15:03

Hi and welcome justanothermanicmonday1! 👋 and everyone else who is new

I wonder if the actual ‘feeling’ of suppression varies from person to person? Like what Jabtastic and RayonSunrise have said above, that they haven’t had a feeling of it but cal/ food intake has reduced overall

justanothermanicmonday1 · 15/11/2024 15:41

My portions have reduced completely, I feel satisfied when I eat barely snack anymore. I'm losing weight and happy. Just didn't think I'd feel as hungry this week. Suppression last week was much more.

I guess I'll just keep doing what I'm doing.

How is everyone finding moving up to 5mg? Any drastic side effects?

PinkArt · 15/11/2024 15:42

I think there could be something in that @KeepCalmandGiveItaGo. For me it was a complete lack of hunger on day one and two and then throughout the week I've just not had any desire for snacks.
What I've not felt though is that immediate Iust stop eating during a meal that other people have reported. I'm hoping that means my meal sizes are not too far off being right for me but it would be really helpful if that does happen on a 'fuck it I'm ordering a dominos' day.

ThreeBootsOneGlove · 15/11/2024 16:04

Mid-morning today (24h after the first 2.5mg dose) something kicked in which I'm assuming is the appetite suppression people talk about.

I'm struggling to describe it, but it feels a bit similar to when I've had a viral illness (e.g. flu or bad cold) and didn't feel like eating anything, only without the viral illness part.

I had to make an intentional decision to eat some lunch (small bowl of vegetable soup and a slice of toast) even though I wasn't feeling hungry.

Totally! 😂

I found at the family pizza night (and it was takeaway, not dominoes but our chippy does a copycat version) I could only manage just under 1 slice and a handful of chips - felt totally stuffed!

Would have had so much before and garlic bread (and topped off with the obligatory tub of B&J’s! 👀 🤭) was full all way up to bedtime.

So loving the life long grip food has had on me dissolving away (not lettuce obvs but the other stuff). Feeling happy and free for the first time in a long time 🩷 🪽 🪽

W1D2: I got to 2.30 today before eating anything bar a couple of cups of tea, but that can be quite normal for me - I never eat breakfast as am too disorganised, and then I had a busy morning of work so didn't have time to think about it. I had a ham sandwich and it went down just as usual. What is unusual is that normally I would want something else as well - fruit if I was being good, chocolate/biscuits if I wasn't. However, I think paying £114 for MJ has put me firmly into the diet zone, so not sure I can say that was MJ or not just yet. But the point is that no matter the reason, I'm not snacking, which is good!

Brilliant! 👏 I’m finding this too with the no urge to snack (I feel like I could chose to if I wanted, but just have not wanted to)

whereareyousleep · 15/11/2024 17:17

W2D4 and the suppression is in effect and I've been tracking calories 12-1400 yet in 10 days I have only lost a measly 1lb. Still 4st down from ozempic/wegovy overall though. But not really lost anything for months so feeling a bit demoralised will keep going in hopefully it will start moving at some point!

Dreamqueen · 15/11/2024 17:34

W3 D2 no side effects for which I am thankful. I'm not physically hungry but keep fantasying about food. High protein bagel and chicken for breakfast, chicken for lunch, another bagel and ham for dinner. 10 glasses of water as DIL says I'm not drinking enough. ( we spend a lot of time together)NSV even though I've only lost 3lbs on the scale, I can feel my clothes are much looser.

Unfortunately my love for gin has not gone away so I'm allowing myself 3 drinks tonight. Usually on a Friday I'd have quite a few drinks and snacks so looking at that as a win.
I've ordered syringes to try to do the bonus shot. I wasn't paying attention when I ordered and they surprised my DIL when they arrived at hers today. Her and my son are the only people who know that I'm doing MJ.Looking forward to upping to 5.
i love reading all the posts about good losses and positivity, they are helping me stay on track.

ThreeBootsOneGlove · 15/11/2024 14:28

Hello @justanothermanicmonday1 - you are a week ahead of me.

Ah how is your first week going?? Xx

BagQueenBee · 15/11/2024 17:37

Well after lots of research and reading, I have finally been approved for Mounjaro today.

I am going to start it on Thursday as I have few days off work then….i have such a lot of weight to lose…my BMI is 59😱😱😱😱 i have tried everything and failed, I feel so positive that this is what i have been waiting for….I'm nervous of the jab I can’t lie, but so so excited to do this and change my life before it’s too late..

I am glad to be here sharing my journey and feel having others going through the same experience to talk to will be amazing.

Cant wait to get cracking…..

ThreeBootsOneGlove · 15/11/2024 18:09

@justanothermanicmonday1 - so far so good, but it's very early days!

Hundredthmillionthdiet · 15/11/2024 18:12

KeepCalmandGiveItaGo · 15/11/2024 13:41

Sorry you’ve not had a loss Hundredthmillionthdiet, have you had any loss so far or just not this week? You’re ver half way through the month, keep going and I hope the next dose up hits the sweet suppression spot for you 🌸

Yes, I lost 7lbs first week, obviously a lot of eater weight etc.

Senna didn't work . Still only passing rock like 💩

Mrsredlipstick · 15/11/2024 18:38

I've been really poorly again today.
Huge nausea and I've had to stay in bed. I'm not sure if this the wegovy or my autoimmune disease.
I felt dizzy. Anyone else had that? W2 D5

namechangedyetagain · 15/11/2024 18:39

Utterly despondent. Today I've had 1 cup of tea, 1 coffee, eaten a banana, a vanilla protein mousse and had to buy lunch of an itsu pot noodle and a teeny bag of chicken fridge raiders. Where on earth an I going wrong? Just had a sneaky peek at the scales ahead of tomorrow and I've put on 0.1kg since last Saturday.

Just had an email about buying the 5mg. I can't eat much less than I am. Have cut out alcohol completely so if nothing else I should be saving those calories at least. Really not sure whether it's worth pursuing for me 😞

RayonSunrise · 15/11/2024 18:43

Welcome @BagQueenBee, don't fret too much about the injection bit - I didn't even feel mine!

First interesting test tonight as we're about to go out for dinner. Am VERY curious to see how this goes after just one dose - will like to have a nice dinner, but not feel too full/over indulged.

WeakAsIAm · 15/11/2024 18:54

I think as long as you leave enough gap between your doses (your next injection) a PP said something about 72 hrs.
But yes on some of the older threads where people have been on it for months they split their doses every week.
For example give themselves 2.5mg mon and 2.5mg Thu coz it helps them to manage the effects of suppression tailing off towards the end of 7 days. They still get 5mg in total but just spread out, the down side obviously is more injections so just make sure you have enough needles if you're going to inject more times in the week.

Doesn’t sound like you are eating enough TBH. Are you drinking water and exercising?

I’m doing WW at the same time and they have a GLP-1 programme with goals to hit for protein, fruit/veg and water and it is tough going to get enough protein in. You can also see your points and if you go over.

weirdly if you are way under your goal intake it can stall weight loss (don’t ask me why, probably to do with starvation mode).

WeakAsIAm · 15/11/2024 19:08

@namechangedyetagain
Yeah agree with PP could be a lack of food that's stopping the weight loss if your body is holding on to fat because it thinks it's starving.
Also who is your prescriber, I believe voy do counselling too with there plan so you speak to a professional about stuff to eat, plans etc.
Sorry don't know full details of their support, but would it be worth changing to them to see if they can help with a personal plan for you.
Sorry you're feeling despondent it's not great having spent years probably feeling like way about your weight and hoping this would finally turn the tide for you.

namechangedyetagain · 15/11/2024 19:19

I do feel like this is it. If this doesn't work for me then there is no hope. I'm on other medication for depression, HRT, high blood pressure. All of which I was up front about. I might see how much voy is in comparison or might look into WW. Trouble is, money is tight and so I can't afford to throw much more money at it. I guess I'm saving the cost of a bottle of wine per week!

Will weight in tomorrow morning and might as well use the last 2 doses in the pen.

IHateMozzies · 15/11/2024 19:30

I had the chip van for tea…totally regretting it! I had 4 chicken chunks and a handful of chips…then ate my son’s leftover chips! Not that many but obviously too many, my tummy feels like it’s going to burst 😫

How long have you been doing it for? Have you lost since starting? So hard when you don't see the scales move, totally get how bloody frustrating that must be

Tomorrow will be my third injection. I lost 2lbs in week 1. Looking like nothing at all in week 2.

jaromoun · 15/11/2024 19:54

i'm week 2 day 4. my overall loss so far is sitting at 4 ish kg and last weigh in was 83.9 kg. i started calorie tracking this week and i have really struggled to hit 1000 each day. i even had a little chocolate ganache pot one day to drag them up when i really had no desire to eat.
usually on a child free friday i would be getting spare ribs and chips from the chinese and even though i had to walk past the chinese to get my nails done i just acknowledged the smells were lovely but i just didn't 'need' to go in. i've had pan fried salmon and steamed veg with a dollop of low cal heinz mayo (love it!) and some chilli and garlic salt over for a bit of flavour. a really small portion but i am full. i've got vino so i can sob on the sofa watching children in need and i am enjoying it (the wine not the sob fest!) but i'm certainly not necking it by any comparison to the past.
i'm thinking in terms of weekly calories as we all can have up and down days and life is for living but i genuinely feel this is a game changer. i think someone else said that they are thinking about food like a thin person does. i really get that now. i have some friends who are slim with it seeming effortless. they just eat enough and don't eat when they don't need to. they can say no to the treat pushers, they can leave that last mouthful of food on the plate because they are full.
i am definitely plating a lot less now.
i'm luckily fairly side effect free (apart from 36 hours of constipation last week). feels a bit too good to be true!
