@Hildabaggins I've got somewhere between 8 and 14 pounds to lose - preferably the whole stone to give me a little wiggle room in the future. Looking ahead over the next few week I definitely don't want to be 'free' over the festive period. I've liked having the ability to eat a few crisps, rather than snaffling the whole bowl, and there is sooooo much potential for excess at this time of year. I feel like I've learned some good habits about the size of my portions, drinking water and eating slowly, stopping when I've had enough, planning my meals with care. I feel like I could carry on with those good habits in January but I fear that stopping MJ before Christmas might risk me rocketing right back in to old over-indulging habits. I don't want that.

I'm with Oushk (moved to them for their maintenance options) and I might have a period of one month on, one month off (if that's possible) just to cement the good learning - better that than a rebound massive yo-yo weight gain.

But I am looking forward to 'me' returning. Along with the loss of appetite and desire for food and alcohol, my libido has plummeted. It will be good to feel that desire return!

doodleschnoodle · 05/12/2024 16:17

After no comments on my weight loss, today I had two in one day! Which made me very chuffed Grin

My libido has gone. I thought it was my age but maybe it’s the MJ!

@doodleschnoodle that's fab! I’ve only had one person comment so far.

SpiderMother · 05/12/2024 20:26

I didn't go to the party. I found a thin knit sparkly top but I just feel too tired today. I think it's the weather and family stuff rather than the MJ/diet. I will return the sparkly top and find something to wear for the other work event next week which is more dressy anyway.

I'm weigh/jab day today. I'm down 1.7lbs this week, total loss of 27lbs on MJ/33lbs total. I've also tracked body measurements - chest 42 to 37, waist 35 to 28, hips 45 to 37. Its a big difference although I'm not sure I can see it in myself.

Hildabaggins · 05/12/2024 23:10

Well done that’s a big difference! My waist has gone from 35 to 32. It doesn’t feel like that much really.

Thornymum · 06/12/2024 05:46

Over the moon to say I've lost another 3.5lb this week! And eaten more than usual!
It takes me to a total loss of 3stone 1lb since starting.
So wishing I'd been measuring all along or at least at the start, I can really see it myself now.
Also such a big boost to realise I'm over the halfway mark and have less to lose than I have lost!

SybillaB · 06/12/2024 10:29

It’s taken 12 weeks but I have now lost 1 stone. I never think about food anymore but know I must eat something. I always would buy some chocolate when I went into a shop but haven’t bought any since my first jab and it doesn’t cross my mind now.

20bloodypounds · 06/12/2024 11:46

Really good to read about the progress @SpiderMother and @Thornymum and @SybillaB I've lost 24 pounds (if today's scales are to be believed) and I'm pretty delighted with that. Going for dinner at a friend's house tonight and will just eat whatever I'm given, but small portions. It's nice not to be on a diet that is overly restrictive of food groups.

EBoo80 · 06/12/2024 11:47

Yes @SybillaB i realised I haven’t bought a chocolate bar since August. That’s such a huge change for me.

after feeling all rosy about shifting to maintenance/tapering down from Jan, I’m now wondering if I want to do one-two more months of loss. When I started this I couldn’t have imagined getting to the weight I am now (SW 14st5, CW 12st2) and it’s been so easy. My original target was 12st7. I’m solidly in the healthy zone for Smart BMI, but not for NHS BMI calculator. My waist is just under 50% of my height.

Do I want to try to get to the middle of the healthy BMI (which would be around 11st7) just to see? I suspect it wouldn’t be a sustainable weight for me, and I have a pretty healthy life and don’t want to transform it wholesale. Really not sure.

anyone else moving the goalposts on their targets?

85reasons · 06/12/2024 13:25

I think a lot depends on your perspective on maintenance @EBoo80 - I've lowered my goal weight a bit (SW 14.5 CW 12.5 GW 11.0 - I'm 5'8 and this will give me a circa 23 BMI).

BUT - I am quite sure that I'll need some sort of ongoing maintenance dose of MJ to help me maintain. I'm under no illusion that I could maintain the weight loss without it.

StanleyCup · 06/12/2024 13:49

Weekly results check in. Lost another 2lbs hut terribly constipated after starting a new pen. Still on 3.75mg as suppression is okay and don’t want anymore adverse side effects.

Wk 1 - 13.3
Wk 2 - 13.1
Wk 3 - 12.13
Wk 4 - 12.10
Wk 5 - 12.10 (bonus dose)
Wk 6 - 12.6 (2.5 from 5 pen)
Wk 7 - 12.4 (3.75mg)
Wk 8 - 12.0 (3.75mg)
wk 9 - 11.12 (3.75mg)
wk10 - 12.0 (3.75mg)
Wk11 - 11.8 (3.75mg)

WK 13 - 11.4 (3.75mg)
UGW- 10

doodleschnoodle · 06/12/2024 13:53

I am contemplating reducing my goal weight a bit too. Originally I went for 135lbs which seemed drastic enough at the time, but that puts me into healthy range but more the upper end of BMI, so now I'm thinking I might try knock it down a bit to sit more in the middle, maybe 22 BMI for example. But I think I'll just have to judge as I get nearer to that first goal - I've lost 40lbs and sitting at 162 today, so I've still got a couple of months before I reach that first target, judging by my average rate of loss so far.

Been thinking about maintenance too and what would work for me. I can't stay on 5, the suppression is far too much for maintenance. I can deal with it while I'm still in that loss frame of mind, although I'm going back to 3.75 next week as I am struggling big time to get enough calories in this week and I've been knackered, so I think ideally a 2.5 dose maybe fortnightly is my first maintenance path, but obviously that means some wasted medication etc.

OP posts:
HippoPortlyMouse · 06/12/2024 16:33

@doodleschnoodle The Oushk prescriber (Hira?) has talked about maintenance recently and suggested patients could space the doses every 9-10 days? Either that or there's possibly the option to do 1 month on/one month off.

I think Cloud also prescribe maintenance for month on/month off too. Hopefully more pharmacies will come out with clear maintenance options too and open the field a bit.

I've set a goal weight at 23ish BMI because it's a nice round stone, but it also feels incredibly unrealistic as I've been overweight (or obese) all my adult life. So I'm thinking the opposite to you, maybe I was a bit optimistic!

🤞you are able to eat a bit more next week. My weight stalls or I go up if I'm tired. That doesn't help with peri-menopause stealing my sleep!

doodleschnoodle · 06/12/2024 16:45

I've actually just switched to Cloud from Oushk! I think I prefer Cloud's maintenance but stuff is evolving so quickly re: maintenance that I think a lot of providers are going to be offering it in the near future. I saw the month on and month off with Cloud on Reddit, which is interesting. I've just no idea what it'll be like not on it now! So want to make sure all options are available to me. I also found all the different discount codes on Oushk a bit stressful, Cloud seems to have lower baseline prices but they don't seem to do all the social media codes and stuff which I find easier to deal with.

I've had my period this week so that probably hasn't helped matters in the slightest.

OP posts:
85reasons · 06/12/2024 17:05

It's a shame it seems like Oushk are going down the interminable discount code route - I had switched to them a few weeks ago but can see myself switching again!

It would be interesting to try month on month off - for most of the month off you'd have some MJ in your system so maybe you'd never feel like it was too much of a rollercoaster. Like you say @doodleschnoodle it's hard to imagine what life will be like not on it!

I'm sticking to 7.5mg for now - think it'll probably take me another 3-4 months to lose another 15-20 pounds - it would be absolutely shocking for me to get to such a low weight as 11 stone, it would be the first time since my early twenties - and the thought of me actually being able to stick at that weight is mind blowing.

HippoPortlyMouse · 06/12/2024 17:06

Hard agree on the social media discount code faff! I think Oushk really shot themselves in the foot with the referral code debacle - it went against their USP and put a lot of people off, a real shame.

I wish there could be more information sharing between the private pharmacies so you could move much easier between them.

I'm still at least 4 months off maintenance but I realise I am worrying about it already - I should just get on with losing the weight first!

Orangesandlemons77 · 06/12/2024 17:12

Don't Oushk do a separate thing for maintenance though where you get your own code or something? It's the video chats put me off. I prefer a more remote approach, I'm a but anxious / shy.

Zobow48 · 06/12/2024 17:14

Gonna be starting mounjaro jab on Wednesday im so excited my friend has had amazing results in just 3 months I didn’t get it online like she does i have got it private with my local pharmacy, would love to hear others opinions on how they have been doing on it & side effects anyone has had x

It's £20 a month for their maintenance plans (currently) and you get 15% off any pens you order on it I think. But I suspect they might change it up as more and more places start doing maintenance.

I don't really want ongoing video calls or anything like that, but for those who want that level of support I think it's a pretty decent deal.

I'd really recommend finding the December starters thread as everyone will be in the same boat and it's nice to share with people on the same part of the journey as you! Good luck! We've all had varying degrees of side effects and success on here, but if you read through you might get a flavour of it.

Price wise, 5mg on Oushk is £150 and Cloud is £138.99. I've never paid £150 with Oushk as they always have codes but they change frequently/overlap which gives me a bit of stress (this is a me issue entirely). As far as I can see, Cloud have a monthly £5 off code that is pretty static.

Cloud is a fair bit cheaper for the higher dosage pens I think: they are £185 for the 15 that I can see and Oushk are £220 (but again codes will bring that down a bit depending).

I only ordered via Cloud today but my order was approved within literally two minutes, I was still looking at the confirmation email when the next one popped up! So will see what delivery etc is like.

@SybillaB @EBoo80 My weakness is savoury salty snacks rather than chocolate. I just realised that I got out a little dish intending to have a few salted peanuts (very stressful meeting at the end of the day). But now, an hour later, I've forgotten about them and the dish is sitting in the kitchen, nuts untouched.

@85reasons I'm thinking of doing one month on, one month off (if that is possible) then I can see how I manage... Plus that might mean my libido is one month on one month off which would be better than half cocked all the time.

I'm also aiming for a 22/23 BMI. However I'm also conscious of (long term) age and weight issues. Late 70s (sadly only 15 years away for me) and my MIL needed every ounce of fat she had on her body during an acute illness.

EBoo80 · 06/12/2024 17:57

Yes @20bloodypounds - it makes perfect sense to me that one’s healthy weight increases with age. Smart BMI calculator is quite convincing on that.

While I totally agree about Oushk new discount codes being off-putting, their lead prescriber did a ‘live’ video about maintenance the other day that I found helpful. It’s freely available on Facebook for anyone interested.

HippoPortlyMouse · 06/12/2024 18:04

@doodleschnoodle definitely sounding positive for Cloud at the moment!

Paying Oushk £20 for a maintenance plan is only if you're not actually buying pens - it's their Flexi plan where you pay to stay on the books and can re-start meds if you want. Flexi plan gets you "lifestyle coaching and ongoing support".

The other plans don't have a cost, as you're buying pens regularly.

You do have to do at least one maintenance video call at the start. Then you get sent discount codes to use on your orders, of 15% off. You also get free postage (normally £6.99).

@20bloodypounds also thinking month on/month off would be good. As I still have several months to go, am hoping people who get there before can share their experiences!

doodleschnoodle · 06/12/2024 18:17

Aha, thanks, that makes sense! I think Oushk are definitely really out in front with their customer engagement for sure, I've been really happy with them and may still go back to them in future. Price is important but not the only consideration for me.

I'm also getting ahead of myself as I still have about 25-30lbs to go before I'm maintaining anyway!
