I have been hungry the whole time. Even though I feel bloated, I definitely feel like I could eat normally and always have. I keep boiled eggs in the fridge for a late night snack. I'm off to look at jerky. Great suggestion and not something I've ever tried.

HippoPortlyMouse · 12/11/2024 22:00

Thank you @InfoSecInTheCity for reminding me about hot drinks! I'm sure I even suggested that as an option to someone else on this or another thread at some point. I've now got a mug of miso soup! I'm glad this thread is here, it's so helpful not to be alone with my hunger and useless brain.

Not cheap at £2 a pack but Tesco do a refrigerated jerky by Ember called Grassfed Beef Charcuterie (La Di Da so fancy) which is really nice, kind of salami like in texture as they use quinoa in there somehow, but less spiced so more meaty.

They also do an unrefrigerated chili rub biltong which is much more seasoned and has a bit of spice to it, a tougher texture, more leathery.

Weighing in this morning at 10st 13lbs. Delighted to finally see a 10 on the scale and no longer be obese 💃💃💃💃

SpiderMother · 13/11/2024 08:06

@sylv165 Congratulations, that's a great feeling.

SecondDesk · 13/11/2024 11:08

Well done @sylv165, that's my goal before Xmas.

I'm up nearly 2lbs today. That is normal for me. I expect a small weekly loss on Monday.

mimosa1 · 13/11/2024 13:54

Thanks @SwiftiesVSLestat , @SecondDesk - what collagen do you use? I think I am thinning - it's just that I have loads of hair to begin with so it hasn't been that noticeable. I've attached some photos though and it's definitely new.

Thanks @Orangesandlemons77 I've ordered some perfectil.

It's 3 for 2 on the Vitabiotics website or I got the standard one fairly cheap on Amazon

alwaysscared · 13/11/2024 14:07

Right, I have halved my oats and doubled my yogurt (it's alpro no sugar yog, 90 cals for 200ml) Tonight I will have 1 slice of toast, 2 eggs and half an avocado.
How many grams of protein should I be aiming for? The yog has 8g.

Choux · 13/11/2024 14:21

According to this if on a high protein diet to help lose weight about 0.6-0.9g of protein per day for every lb of body weight.

www.healthline.com/nutrition/high-protein-diet-plan#daily-protein-requirements

A high protein diet for weight loss and overall health should provide about 1.2–2 g/kg/bw or 0.6–0.9 g/lbs/bw.
So, if you weigh 68 kg (150 lbs), this provides 82–136 g of protein daily.

alwaysscared · 13/11/2024 14:23

Wowzers, that's a lot!!

alwaysscared · 13/11/2024 14:27

How do people eat that much protein?? But stay within calories??

How do people eat that much protein?? But stay within calories??

Serving of casserole with 125g beef per serving is 250 calories and 34g protein, so that's a third of your protein for about a sixth of your calories.

Medium egg is 60 calories and 5.5g protein, 2 egg omelette would be 11g protein

I like the Emmi high protein iced latte drinks, each of those is 18g protein for 130 calories.

100g full fat longley farms cottage cheese is 104cal and 10g protein.

I typically eat/drink about 1200 calories a day and average 150g protein

I'm losing well but I know I'm not drinking enough and I really need to sort this.
I've never really drank a lot though so it's new to me trying!
I don't suppose anyone has any magic tips to make me drink more?

EBoo80 · 13/11/2024 16:39

@Thornymum is it that you don’t like water, or just forget?
if the former, maybe an Air Up bottle. Or if the latter, treat yourself to a lovely water bottle? If I keep a carafe of water in the fridge I drink much more as like it colder. I’ve started tracking water on my fit bit, as was worried I wasn’t drinking enough.

doodleschnoodle · 13/11/2024 16:41

A friend of mine has a smart water bottle that beeps and vibrates to remind her to drink! It seemed bonkers at the time but now it seems like maybe a good idea ...

I drink more hot drinks. Decaf tea, miso soup, herbal teas - it's helpfully warm now it's chilly and because it's in front of me and I don't want it to get cold, I'm more inclined to drink than from a bottle of water which too easily fades into the background.

I'm also terrible at drinking enough and I don't think I've ever hit the 2L per day target.

I just literally don't get that thirsty, I've never ever drank a lot. I'm perfectly happy with squash, water, tea, coffee etc

Glad it's not just me!
I could find drinking more tea easier whilst it's cold as I love a hot cup of tea - but my brain says it should be water/squash I'm drinking and I just don't😂😂

HippoPortlyMouse · 13/11/2024 17:03

@Thornymum I figure a certain cup of tea is better than a 'maybe' glass of water!

I realised I also try and have water with my meals - I've heard some people disagree with this approach but for me, it doesn't impact appetite and provides another opportunity to drink.

SecondDesk · 13/11/2024 18:20

@InfoSecInTheCity thanks for your food diary. I'm aiming for 100g protein. I can defo improve.

Choux · 13/11/2024 19:39

Lots of sources of protein here and the calories are listed as well

www.todaysdietitian.com/pdf/webinars/ProteinContentofFoods.pdf
Best sources are white meat and fish.

SecondDesk · 13/11/2024 19:59

@mimosa1 I use marine collagen powder from Amazon. I have that in coffee every morning. I also take a women's multivitamin with collagen.

Each 10g serving is approx. 36 calories and 9.5 g of protein. I sometimes have 2 x10g

SpottyBumPony · 13/11/2024 20:07

@SecondDesk what brand of collagen do you use? I’ve got the Coconut Creamer from Hunter Gatherer, it’s taken a few coffees to get used to it
