End of week 16 weigh in: 4.7lbs lost, 44.2lbs total.

Massive loss this week and not really sure where that came from - except maybe some hangover from Xmas (water weight?) as well as normal fat loss. But those numbers mean I have now lost just over 3 stone. Mad.

I'm on 7.5mg and started that dose last Friday. The first half of the week felt like supression was too high and I was forcing myself to eat and then feeling bloated, but it has settled towards the end of the week which is good.

I think I am going to slowly shift my jab day back to Sat then Sun evenings though. It means I am not most suppressed over the weekends and hopefully should help me eat a little bit more as I now feel my loss might be going a bit too fast. That is a strange concept to me but I just feel like I've got the year ahead of me and now need to try to find the slow but steady loss that I know is healthier. My BMI is still 33.7 so there is still some road to travel and I'd like to try to avoid saggy skin etc as much as possible.

I'm already having some hair loss, but that has steadied so that I now only appear to be losing about twice as much as normal and don't see much difference in terms of the thickness of the hair left on my head so I hope to keep that to a minimum also.

I feel good! All movement is easier tbh and I noticed it most recently when putting all the xmas decs back in the loft. It was much easier to 'nip' up and down the ladder to get everything up there. It's also lovely to look at all the clothes I own and know that they all will fit (or even be too big) but I only have now my current size left in my stock - when I drop another size I will need to buy new clothes. And, of course, that won't be my eventual size I don't think so there will be the dilemma about how many clothes to buy for what should be a temporary state. Ah well.

I haven't got the boost of energy but I was always quite energetic and for the first few weeks I had quite a lot of fatigue which was frustrating. I was feeling like I should nap every afternoon (even though I often couldn't because of work etc).

I've noticed that has lifted in the last month or so, and it's nice to find I have my normal motivation and energy again.

I've got another 2 doses of 7.5mg and have got a 10mg on order. I'm tempted to bring this weeks forward by another day to see if it kick starts anything.

why don’t you use the bonus dose to top up to 10mg for the next two weeks?

Cocoaone · 11/01/2025 08:32

Week 15 update

SW: 196.6lb / 14st 0.6lb / 89.2kg / 32.2 BMI
CW: 164.2lb / 11st 10.2lb / 74.5kg / 27 BMI
GW: 147lbs / 10st 7lb / 66kg / 24 BMI

Total loss: 32.4lb / 2st 4.4lb / 14.7kg
Wk 1-4: -12.6lb
Wk 5-8: -8.8lb
Wk 9-12: -7.8lb
Wk 13: +0.8lb (Christmas)
Wk 14: -1.6lb
Wk 15: -2.2lb

Still on 3.25mg here, which seems to be a sweet spot of being able to eat decent sized meals but no cravings or snacking. I seem to lose a chunk of weight at the beginning of the week, then bob up and down by 0.2-0.4lbs for the rest of the week. I wonder if it's because I'm eating more carbs - I've added branflakes to my diet which is definitely helping with constipation.

I've still got 4 weeks left in my current pen, and another due to be delivered at the end of this month, so 9 weeks in total. If I continue to lose 2lb a week, I'll be at goal by the end of the 2 pens. I'm sure in reality the loss will slow or I'll have some stalls as I get closer. But crazy to think that it's so close. I haven't really thought about what my maintenance will be yet.

Well done on 3st @ShiftAMountain. Annoying as it it - it definitely makes sense to slow down weight loss as you get slimmer - I was petrified of hair loss/loose skin/gallstone risk when I was losing more each week.

Ozgirl76 · 11/01/2025 19:18

Hi there! Well done to all the losers (😄). We’ve just got back from our trip to the U.K. and I weighed myself and I’m another 3kg off over the last 4 weeks, including Xmas, so that’s great.
I found being on holiday was a bit of a struggle - not resisting temptation, more that we ate out a lot and it was hard finding small enough things. I tended to go for a starter and ask for it to come as the main course and that worked ok. It’s just there is such a disparity between what I eat and what my DH and sons eat! But he is much taller than me, and the boys are teens, it’s just funny to see how much they put away.

ShiftAMountain · 11/01/2025 20:55

Everyone's doing so well! Some (many) of you are going to hit maintenance long before I do. I hope you stay around and keep us updated with how it's going. Maintenance is such an unknown on MJ that I would love to hear about it and - hopefully! - how well it's going for you.

Well done on all the loses!

I’ve still got a lot to lose but have been chipping away slowly. I’ve lost just over 2 1/2 stone and my BMI is finally just under 40.

I took my bonus does this week and next start on 12.5mg.

I thought that I would have a rapid loss whaich would make the fact I’m using injections obvious but as the weight loss has been slow I don’t think it is.

Well done on your weight loss, that’s brilliant. I’ve put on 2 pounds this week so feeling quite despondent and I’m wondering whether to go up to 10mg dose when I next order. Can I ask if you’ve notice any new or worsening side effects from the higher dose injections?

ShiftAMountain · 15/01/2025 08:24

Well done @Darkfloods! Stepping down a BMI category always feels like a significant achievement.

Watched a really interesting documentary last night on Netflix: Hack Your Health: The Secrets of Your Gut

It's all about how your microbiome in your gut influences your health - including in ways I didn't expect. A couple of things really stood out to me, because of our journey here:

  1. The scientists explaining that 3 different people can eat the same apple and each extract different amounts of nutrients and energy from it. i.e. some people may extract more energy (calories) from the apple than another person.
  2. An experiment in which the biome of two twins was put into two mice (one twin was fat, one was slim). The mice were then fed exactly the same food and the mouse with the fat twin's biome got fat, while the other mouse stayed a healthy weight.

None of this is linked directly to MJ but it does add a bit more colour to the complex picture of why so many of us may have struggled with our weights to start with.

Hello all. I've been lurking on this thread since the start, having started Mounjaro late sept last year. I keep meaning to post this but of info and finally remembered!

I use IQdoctor which I don't see many mentions of here. It seems to be the cheapest once you've used your first-time MedExpress discount (info via jabcompare.co.uk) - AND they always send five needles and five swabs, so you've got a backup if one breaks or you use the extra dose. I've seen a few questions about how to buy extra needles so thought I'd mention it.

For anyone who's interested, my stats are below, and I feel PHENOMENAL - truly life changing.

Height 5'6"
Age 53
SW - 16.7
CW - 13.10
GW - 12 ish? We'll see how it goes.
Current dose - finishing second month of 10mg and about to move up to 12.5.

No side effects apart from the very occasional near vom in the middle of the night if I've overdone it on portion size, or a mildly dodgy tum (generally pizza related 😬). No radical diet change - it wasn't terrible before, just needed to control portion size and snacking. Haven't really cut down on wine (!) so that's an option if things slow down too much...

Good luck everyone; keep on keeping on!

To add to this - people at work who I haven't seen for a while keep saying how well I'm looking ("have you done your hair? New glasses? You're looking all glowy"). And I'm now getting back into all those clothes (inc. jeans!!) I hung onto 'for when I lose weight', and going clothes shopping and actually fitting things I like, and feeling happy. It's all such a joy 😃

Big loss this week and I've suffered with extreme fullness again at the end of this week - day 5/6. I'm not sure if it's period related or the fact I risked a few mouthfuls of pasta during the week. When will I learn?!
I've only got a stone to go until target now, thinking of reducing my dose ever so slightly as 3lb is a lot and would prefer slower. Currently on 3.25mg

Welcome @little0miss0mac and great loss!

Bellyblueboy · 18/01/2025 12:49

9lbs from target weight!!

Today I bought a pair of size 10 jeans! I tried them on. They fit but just a little tight. But they will fit in a few weeks!

i have lost two and a half stone now and people are commenting a lot which I do find uncomfortable. But it was more uncomfortable being obese!

I have noticed the effects of MJ are less now. I just took my 17th shot and am still on 5mg. But I am happy enough as still losing 1-2lbs a week. I was hoping to be able to stay on this dose - or lower - for the full two years that MedExpress allows to make sure I do t balloon back up again!

ShiftAMountain · 18/01/2025 15:21

Some of you are so close now to your healthy targets weights - I am so excited and thrilled for you! What a wonderful way to go into the new year Grin

End of week 17 weigh in. 0.4lbs lost, 44.6lbs total.

It's a good job I had a massive loss last week because this week is very poor! It's not for the want of trying this week, just one of those things where I suppose my body is taking stock after the big drop last week. Still, the measuring tape numbers went down so I'm not too frustrated by it and I DID want to slow my loss a little bit to feel like it was happening in a better way.

@10storeylovesong if you have bought from a reputable provider the likelihood of it being a dodgy one is practically non existent due to their internal auditing and processing procedures.

it’s more likely this is just an off month? I’m on my second month of 7.5 and not feeling it. Not doing much for me etc, but I’m persevering with it as I am not ready for 10mg and less than a stone away from my first goal.

my first month of 5mg was the same. Felt like it wasn’t working. 2.5mg was fabulous for me. First 7.5mg was also good.

it’s just one of those magical science hormoney things that us mere mortals will never understand. ;)

It's so weird how if affects you differently from week to week and dose to dose, isn't it? I have been absolutely fine on my dose for a couple of weeks, so side effects at all, felt completely normal with slight hunger at meal times but no desire to snack or overeat - the perfect sweet spot. And then bam - all of a sudden I can barely eat anything. It makes me worry that maintenance is going to be really tricky to get the right balance, especially as I'm on such a low dose still.

Lots of people are commenting on my loss now @Bellyblueboy, I find it hard as I hate lying or misleading, but equally I don't want to say I'm on the WLI. My cleaner has lost a tonne of weight, and I think she's probably being helped a long the way with WLI, but I won't ask her as I'd hate someone to outright ask me. And maybe she hasn't and would be offended if I asked her.

@ShiftAMountain - still, 44/45lbs in 17 weeks is amazing!

FelicityBeedle · 18/01/2025 22:23

Hello all! I’m back after the best part of a month since I last posted. I dropped back to 2.5 before Christmas, and then completely failed to jab over Christmas week because I just lost track of all time. It all added up to me gaining 4kg over the festive period. But I’m back on 5mg and am back down to 103.5 with good suppression. Very impressed with you all losing steadily over Christmas, and somewhat regretting I didn’t take it more seriously

I haven't had people commenting yet...but pretty sure someone will soon, especially when I get to the three stone mark. I'm going to an annual event soon and people are bound to notice a different! But I'm rapidly approach a fuck it mindset of just telling people if they ask. Screw them if they get negative back at me I'm feeling better physically than I have in years and it's worth the attempt, I'll be sure to tell them they can laugh and point if I put it all back on, just like with any other diet! I suspect this will make most shut up because they'll realise they are being very unpleasant. But this probably won't happen because people know I express myself and don't back off if challenged. 😁

ShiftAMountain · 20/01/2025 20:28

Help!

I am just sat here thinking how sulphury my burps smell and feeling relieved I am sat alone. When I suddenly remember I have a dentist appointment tomorrow morning. 😳

What do I do? How do I minimise the chances of eggy burping in the dentist's face?
