Eating a ryvita with a small smear of good butter really really slowly

a tip on a dieting thread about how to avoid cravings made me really REALLY happy this isn’t my life anymore

Bellyblueboy · 15/11/2024 21:28

I have now lost 1st 4 and am 10st 13lb which is great!

Clothing is starting to feel like a challenge. I am starting to fit into size 12. I do have some clothes I. The wardrobe that fit, but lots are a bit dated now. I have a job where I need to look smart. I have a few evening events coming up,

By my goal weight I will be a size 10 - maybe 8 (if I get there!). But the transition time is hard.

i know people will suggest buying second hand. I just can’t - it’s just not for me!

are you all finding clothing becoming a challenge?

I’m ok for clothing because I have an array of clothes between size 10 and 16 due to failing and succeeding over my entire adult life 🙄

Ozgirl75 · 16/11/2024 05:01

There’s someone on one of the threads recommending eating nothing but water for 5 days as a way of losing weight. I mean, plenty of people are saying “wtf” but still, the lengths people will go to is scary.
Can you imagine waking up on day 3 and going “great, only two more days of nothing but water to go”

ShiftAMountain · 16/11/2024 06:12

I'm the same @Ozgirl75 - when this wardrobe of clothes gets too big, I simply fold them away and get the next size down out the cupboard. I don't think I'll need new smaller sizes for a few months yet.

Too many years of yo-yoing over and over.

Week 7 update

SW: 196.6lb / 14st / 89.2kg
CW: 177.6 / 12st 9.6lb / 80.6kg
GW: probably 147lbs / 10.5st / 66kg

Total loss: 19lbs / 8.6kg
Wk1: -6.4lbs / 2.9kg (2.5mg)
Wk2: -2lb / 0.9kg (2.5mg)
Wk3: -1.4lb / 0.6kg (1.25mg)
Wk4: -2.8lb / 1.3kg (2mg)
Wk5: -2.6lb / 1.2kg (2.5mg)
Wk6: +0.2lb / 0.1kg (2.5mg)
Wk7: -4lb / 1.8kg (3.75mg)

BMI start: 32.2 Current: 29.2

What a whoosh after a small gain last week!
I’ve now lost 10% of my weight since starting MJ, I’m over the moon.
When I started a diet in January this year, my nutracheck app would only let me set a maximum goal of 20% weight loss - which meant a goal of 12st - only 9.6lb to go! I was hoping to get there for Christmas, and technically I could still achieve it, my average loss is 2lb per week, but I’m sure I’ll have another week where I don’t lose much, and I have 4 (!) Christmas meals between then and now. So we’ll see.

@Bellyblueboy - most of my clothes are stretchy (I WFH mostly) so I haven't noticed a huge difference so far other than being able to get into a non stretchy size 14 dress. A couple of my bigger joggers (size 18?) are falling down now, rather than just a bit baggy. I'm going shopping later so might try on something new for Xmas events. But don't want to be sad if there's not much difference in how I look!

I think my problem is my style has changed since I was last this size! Work in particular - I am now more senior so the wardrobe needs to be smarter!

I also seem to punch myself by buying uglier cheaper clothes when I am bigger. I have bought a few timeless items but I have never lost weight this fast! I am
used to half a pound a week, not three😂.

A NSV/annoyance - I had my engagement & weddings ring enlarged a couple of years ago after not being able to wear them for a year. They are now too big. There is the slightest bit of resistance at the knuckle, so hopefully they won't fall off yet, but they just keep twirling round. I'll have to get some plastic bits to put on the inside

Witchyandtwitchy · 16/11/2024 12:17

I’m no longer obese! And some of my size 14 trousers now fit!

Cocoaone · 16/11/2024 15:13

Big congrats @Witchyandtwitchy Grin

Marble02031 · 16/11/2024 18:41

I have just taken my final dose of 5mg today. I still have the golden dose left. My weight loss has slowed down to around 1.5lb a week.

I took 2 weeks at 3.75 and went to 5mg last week. It was odd. The first day I took it I was up all night feeling sick and with reflux then by Monday it stopped. I ate more than usual and felt hungry for 3 full days. Then bam Thursday I felt sick and could barely eat or yesterday.

I have decided to order another 5mg. I think unless weight loss stalls it must be working.

I have now lost just over 10% of my body weight in 8 weeks. I am happy with that :)

Snapespeare · 17/11/2024 07:53

4th 5mg last night, weighed myself a day early on the basis I had a massive poo yesterday (hurrah, but also tmi) lost 3.7lbs, so happily in the 15s.
SW 17.8
CW 15.11.5
GW 12.7 ish

Going into the 15s is magnificent!
Having eye surgery tomorrow, so won't be able to swim or lift, shall hope to take up walking, once I can see properly..

Cocoaone · 17/11/2024 08:48

Congrats for getting to the 15s @Snapespeare, and lots of luck for tomorrow

FelicityBeedle · 17/11/2024 16:47

My 10 days period and cold stall seems to have ended and I’ve lost a pound, hope it keeps up because I’ve got another 5mg in the fridge, didn’t go up a dose

Bellyblueboy · 17/11/2024 20:24

Edited for a more positive post!

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! Tomorrow is another day! This is hard sometimes - but it will be worth it. 😊😊

peonym · 18/11/2024 09:00

About to take my first dose of 7.5mg as all week I've felt food noise and I've been a bit p stalled for 3 weeks now. Hoping this gives me the pre Christmas push I need! Weigh in on Wednesday.

Love seeing all the NSVs! My rings are also now looser which is terrifying as one flew off in the car the other day 😳

I know you edited your post @Bellyblueboy but I just wanted to say that it's right that you are positive about your journey. Looks are one thing (and I know we all hope to look better) but what you ARE matters more and you are over a stone healthier than you were a few weeks ago. That's actually pretty awesome.

The lyrics from that old 90s song Torn keep running around my head. "I thought I saw a (wo)man brought to life; she was warm, she came around like she was dignified".

I'm trying not to be over dramatic but I feel like we're all here, fighting hard to live a healthier, better life. To come back to life - or, at least, a life without weight shame or health problems. Go us! Grin

Some of you are having excellent losses. Well done.

Bellyblueboy, my losses are slower than I would really like them to be, but I'm happy with my one stone loss at the end of week 7. I can see and feel the difference and others have commented that I look well or even that I have lost weight. Also, I just need to lose over one pound more to be in the 13s, which will definitely be a cause for celebration for me.

I haven't really got a goal at this stage as I'm in my 60s and am mindful that being as slim as I once was might not look good on me now, but I probably have 3 to 4 stone left to lose in any event. I'm not at all bored of this though. I feel really good and know that I can keep going as long as it takes (and so long as I don't develop side effects.

Are your losses slower because you are having less suppression? I am like you, with slow loss and even the 7.5mg dose doesn’t seem to be doing much in terms of appetite reduction. I’m loathe to go up to a higher dose as my first week on 7.5mg (last week) seemed to cause a lot of pain in liver area.

Jabberwokie · 18/11/2024 13:01

Bellyblueboy - No, I’m having pretty good suppression on a 5 pen. My food noise has declined enough for my needs and the wine siren has been completely silenced, but I never have been a big eater, other than when stressed. And I’m trying very hard to get my stress levels under control, which is half of the battle for me. I have always struggled to keep my weight down, even when a slim and active youngster. I have a very slow heart rate and the lowest possible healthy respiratory rate. Whether that means I have a slow metabolism, I really don’t know.

To be fair, I’m not dieting as such, I’ve just stopped drinking alcohol and eating anything containing artificial sugars and am following a fairly low carb regime. After spending pretty much all of my life having to deal with keeping my weight under control, I think I know enough about the rules to do this without following any specific diet. But the drug means my appetite is suppressed. I have just made myself a two egg omelette for lunch and I’ve had to leave half of it as I’ve simply had enough. I’m sorry it doesn’t seem to be working as well as it should for you.

Have you had a chat with your drug provider? Maybe they can suggest something.

Not seen your original post bellyblueboy but you're allowed to have a range of emotions not just positive.

I'm wondering whether to carry on. Weight loss has stalled over the past 4 weeks. I'm on 3.75mg so the obvious thing would be to increase the dosage but I'm feeling rubbish 4 out of 7 days as it is after my jab. Currently feeling like the weight I'm losing is due to not eating much which I can do on a calorie controlled diet, not feeling like I'm getting any of the other benefits of the jab.

I'm also struggling with a low mood, not getting any dopamine hits from food or anything else. I was finally getting the endorphins after exercise which I've never had before but haven't been able to exercise as much as I would like due to feeling unwell. In a real catch 22!

Finally saw a 10 on the scales today but it's 10 st 14lbs which I'm fairly sure is still 11st???

Me, I’ve been gaining and losing the same two pounds for 4 weeks now.
My total loss (best case) is 6 pounds in 6 weeks so it’s a slow and steady.
I'm on week 2 of 5mgs and the suppression was much more on the 2.5mgs.
Sticking with it and hoping it’s just a plateau.

Pashazade · 19/11/2024 20:41

9th jab done, went for 3.75mg so hoping side effects stay minimal.
SW 15st 12lb
CW 14st 5.8lb
So close to 1.5 st off in 8 weeks. But average loss of 2lb a week, so not going to complain.
