Has anyone decided to stay on 5mg? It seems to be suiting me ok. I'm able to eat good meals and still lose 1lb a week. I'm not snacking, drinking or eating shit and my side effects are minimal. I'm not really seeing the point in going up. But does your body get used to it and it stops its effectiveness?

TricksyLiesmith · 07/11/2024 15:47

Sorry to hear that @10storeylovesong sounds awful . I'm the opposite to be honest

TricksyLiesmith · 07/11/2024 15:49

@JustWalkingTheDogs I'm going to stay on 5mg for my next pen . I e found moving up to this has been challenging with increased nausea and not sleeping .
If you are ok then moving to 7.5 should be good for you

Hi, I've haven't posted in a while but came back to see if anyone else was the same as me on 5mg.
I had a slow loss on 2.5mg, mainly losing in the first week and then a couple of lb over the 3 weeks. I have also lost 9lb.

I'm on week 3 of 5mg and haven't lost anything, I'm going up and down on the same lb.
Suppression and food noise is not great for me on this. I've been eating crisps this week and more evening snacks 😒.

Hoping 7.5mg will work better for me. This month feels like I've wasted money...

I completely understand this feeling. I’m just on my last week of the 5mg dose and I’m due to take the 7.5mg early next week but I’m quite nervous as the constipation is now horrendous. I’m feeling like if it continues then I’ll have to stop as I cannot keep having such awful symptoms but I definitely am torn. I want the higher dose to see if it resets me, stops the food noise, picking between meals, feeling hungry etc and yet I don’t want it if it’s going to make the constipation even worse. Does that make sense, I do hope so?

Floofypuppy · 07/11/2024 17:47

@Mydoghealsmyheart what have you done to try and stop it? Have you tried Senna or Dulcolax etc

I’ve bought some Dulcolax to try but I am worried about the constipation symptoms getting worse on the 7.5mg dose.

I'm coming on to have a pity party. I've had more hunger this week but still eaten the same as past weeks, still logging calories and weighing food and getting 1100-1200 calories a day and 70-80g protein.

Yet I have not lost. I went down 0.2lbs for a couple of days, and then back up again.

I KNOW this is normal, but it still feels really frustrating when I've lost for the past 5 weeks eating the same. Most weeks I was losing a small amount every day! I'm mid-cycle so maybe it's water weight from ovulation. Maybe my body is desperately trying to cling on after 5 weeks of loss.

I also know I shouldn't moan when others have had weeks of no or minimal losses. But I'm just being honest. The scale motivates me - but when this happened on diets before MJ, I would definitely fall off the wagon and have a pity binge. So at least I'm not doing that.

I'm due jab 7 tomorrow and I'm not sure whether or not to increase (still on 2.5) as side effects are non existent and I'm not wanting to snack or getting food noise. I don't want to reduce hunger any more as calories are low enough. But equally I don't want another week of stall and technically should have moved up. Will decide tomorrow, but leaning towards increasing the dose slightly

I had this and someone on this thread said I wasn't eating enough. So I then started to have a smaller breakfast but something more substantial for lunch (but a smaller portion) and then a proper dinner. Probably had about 1500 calories a day and I started to lose again.

But I'm a very slow loser. 1lb a week which can be disheartening when you read about the losses, but I try to see it as a journey and also if I'm losing slowly it's less likely to go back on quickly.

keely79 · 08/11/2024 08:31

Hey all - am losing at the rate of about 1kg per week which I am good with (particularly as have had quite a busy week with dinners out and wine!). No real side effects at 5ml so thinking will go up to 7.5ml at end of this one and see how that goes.

Clothes definitely looser and watch band tightened by a notch . Not really sure what to do re clothes as don’t want to buy at transitional weight but trousers starting to be too loose! Belts I guess….

SW - 109.9 kg
CW - 103.9
GW - 79kg

ShiftAMountain · 08/11/2024 09:52

End of week 7
2.5lbs lost, 23.3lbs overall.

By biggest lost seems to have been on my bust - I think it's less that I've lost volume and more that I've lost perkiness. They are starting to stare mournfully at my feet Grin

@Cocoaone 2.5mg isn’t a therapeutic dose. Mounjaro doesn’t only work by reducing appetite, it changes the way the body processes sugar, so staying on that dose will really minimise results.

Cocoaone · 08/11/2024 10:27

Thanks @JustWalkingTheDogs - I might try forcing a bit more in!

Well done @ShiftAMountain - that's amazing in 7 weeks!

@Floofypuppy - I've stayed low until now as the appetite suppression and fullness were really extreme at the start - I was struggling to get up to 800 calories a day and losing 3lb a week on average. I didn't want to increase dose and have it get even more extreme. But might be time to increase now - I definitely won't go up to 5 yet.

Also so did some research on the dosing. There is nothing magical that happens at 5mg to make it a 'therapeutic' dose - it's just that most people didn't notice any positive effects until then. 15% of people responded on 1mg. I can't remember the amount who responded on 2.5mg - 20 something, I think. But that's why they state that 5mg is the starting dose and 2.5mg is to acclimatise your body - because that's the level most (over 50%) people responded at, and they have to show most people lose 5% of body weight in x weeks to get it approved for weight loss. It's in the first SURMOUNT trial data.

My blood sugars have already reduced from low 6s/high 5 to low 5 which is amazing Grin

Ordered my 2nd pen of 5mg arriving today. That should see me through Christmas and I can go up to 7.5 after New Year.
Currently on week 2 of 5mg and haven’t had any awful side effects as yet. So was tempted to go up, but didn’t want to risk feeling ill over Christmas.

I’ve lost 18lb over the last 6wks, so happy with that and clothes feeling much looser.

I wondered that @10storeylovesong - it makes sense that your body would try and reserve stores once it loses a set amount.

Hoping for a whoosh soon too! Great news on your wardrobe wins.

FelicityBeedle · 08/11/2024 15:39

2nd 5mg pen arrived and some wonderful love at med express sent me 6 needles and swabs so that’s very kind of them! Bad news is I was hoping to hit 10% of my body weight gone by Sunday (11.6kg) but I’ve just started my period so I’m less hopeful now.

KitsyWitsy · 08/11/2024 17:19

I got 6 needles with med express too. I think they must be fed up of sending out replacements.

RandomID · 08/11/2024 19:35

Six here too, when my 7.5mg came. I also bought 100 for just under a fiver from one of the (legit) online chemists so I’m set for a damn long time!

Scales at the leisure centre were not working this last week or so, so I’ve no idea how I’m doing.

I have one standard and one bonus dose left in my current 5mg pen, and the 7.5mg is in the fridge which will take me to just before Christmas. I’ll reorder early December so I can avoid the mess of bank holidays.

Anyway, Sending lots of positive manifestation to you all.

Bellyblueboy · 08/11/2024 20:15

I took my first full dose of 5mg yesterday and just had a stir fry for tea - salmon and vegetables. I finished it but I feel quite nauseous now. I have only had 900 calories today and I feel extremely full. Like after Christmas dinner full.

I am also so tired I might go to bed now! If I stay awake I think I might be sick.

week 7, 15lbs weight loss and would love to lose at least another half a stone before Christmas.

ShiftAMountain · 08/11/2024 20:50

@Bellyblueboy - 5mg floored me like that the first week. Last week I took 3.75mg and then mid week took the remaining 1.25mg. It worked out much better for me like that so I'm doing the same this week and may try 5mg in one go again next week.

It’s not that people don’t see any positive effects at 2.5mg, it’s that it’s not optimal for weight loss. And you’ve seen this first hand as your body isn’t responding as it’s not losing weight! Or rather, it will but it will be very slow.

also worth remembering upping the dose doesn’t bring about a cumulative effect on satiety and side effects. On 5mg I feel fine and none of the sickness of early weeks on much less.

Pashazade · 08/11/2024 23:04

Those who have done 3.75mg, how many clicks was it? Probably going to move up to a 5mg pen but not sure I want to go all in straight away.

Ozgirl75 · 09/11/2024 01:04

I know people say it isn’t a therapeutic dose but what you say makes sense @Cocoaone. Ive been on 2.5 for 6 weeks or so now and have lost 8kg in that time, so something is working!
I do have a to bring some willpower into it, but I’m reframing that as “making sensible choices”. I’m hungry before meals now but eat my normal smallish portion and then feel full. I still find it easy to say no to all snacks, chocolates, ice cream. I have had zero desire for them at all.

ShiftAMountain · 09/11/2024 03:34

@Pashazade - 45 clicks

Really disappointed with a (small) gain this week. The only things I can attribute it to are not having been to the loo since Sunday - but I don’t feel constipated and it’s not unusual for me to only go once or twice a week (IBS). If I don’t go this weekend I’ll get some meds, but they always give me awful cramps, so I try to avoid. Maybe that’ll shift 0.5lb if I’m lucky!

The other thing is that I’ve started to do some strength training. But in a calorie deficit, I very much doubt I’ve gained any muscle, and my fancy scales agree.
Diet has been good, could maybe do with upping my water intake.

I might go up to 3.25mg tonight, but I’m very nervous in case it makes me unable to eat much again. I’ll have to suck it and see. Hopefully it won’t get stronger as @Floofypuppy says
