@PickleSarnie Thanks, having no side effects is great, I hope that continues for you. I had a few the first two weeks but ok now and I’m a bit scared of 5mg if I’m honest. Mind you I was scared of starting and I can’t really believe I’ve done it!

The other thing I plan to do is do a week of 3.75mg (by counting clicks on the 5mg) pen to slowly go up doses and not just straight from 2.5mg to 5mg. I'm also scared of side effects, on maternity leave with an 8 month old baby at home and will struggle if it hits me suddenly.

Witchlite · 22/10/2024 13:54

Gr3atEscape · 22/10/2024 13:31

I'm getting the 5 but only going to use a half shot if I am still getting results on 2.5mg. this way I can decide mid month to move up to 5mg if I feel 2.5mg is no longer doing anything. Otherwise you are stuck with the lower dose for a whole month.
It was always my plan to use as low a dose as possible for as long as possible and only move up when I needed to. I am only on my second week though and definitely alot hungrier than last week so in all likelihood I'll move to 5mg on wk 5/6

That’s sort of what I’m doing.<plan to do > but I’m going to go up to 5.00mg and go back down to 2.5mg (30 clicks) if I have a problem.

I will be less likely to move up from 5.00mg and will stick at that as long as I experience suppression. However, I will move up the doses if needed.

Pegsmum · 22/10/2024 13:58

@Gr3atEscape Just trying to get my head around the clicks-is it 45 clicks for a 3.75 dose?

Davinal · 22/10/2024 14:01

I've jumped in with Voy! Just had my order approved. I've been considering my options for months, feel very excited.

Fingers crossed for quick delivery!

Well done to everyone who has had great losses! I’m due my 4th jab tomorrow and need to reorder and am debating whether to move up to 5mg or stick at 2.5mg for another month. The suppression is not as extreme as it was but it’s manageable and makes life a bit easier…but is it a waste not to move up a dose? Very unsure, anyone else sticking at 2.5??

I’ve decided to stick with 2.5 because I think I can keep up the good habits at this level. I’d like to not have to increase the dose unless I really have to - sleep isn’t great and it’s defiant the effect of MJ so I don’t want that to get any worse. Also, I feel if I can make it work on 2.5 hopefully it won’t be quite so hard when I go it alone !! We’re all going to do it ‘our’ way though - so it’s really about how you feel.

So I emailed MedExpress yesterday re. Ordering my second pen and the price. They said the below, in case it’s of help to anyone trying to save a bit of money!
(my next question is where is the cheapest provider to send the price to MedExpress for a price match??)

Trouble is I think most of them are about the same it's the discount codes that make it cheaper. I think IQ doctor is the cheapest right now for 5mg (£107) but with a one off code which medexpress won't price match. The cheapest they'll price match is £139 I think. I am able to order my new pen on Sunday. I am going with a 5mg but will do 4 lots of 3.75 then a 5mg dose.
I have told my husband now ( he was wonderful), soI can keep it in the fridge next time rather than our cold bedroom.😂😂

Pegsmum · 22/10/2024 14:12

@EVK I agree and would like to stay on a low a dose as possible although I can definitely feel a difference in suppression as the weeks go on. As previously suggested I think I may order 5mg but have a couple of weeks doing a 2.5 dose from it and see what happens. Thank you for replying, I hope your sleep improves. I have had awful insomnia since menopause and nothing works-weirdly since the MJ I have had the best sleep in years!

Doghairismyglitter · 22/10/2024 14:14

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but does the 5mg help you lose weight quicker or does it just suppress appetite further? I’m wondering what dose to order for my second pen as well

I'm thinking of moving up to 5mg, I was debating doing 3.75mg but my genuine worry would be using smaller doses would make the pen last longer than the recommended 30 days but knowing how expensive they are I'm not sure I could bin a pen with a dose left in it!

I’m planning on doing this as well. I’m in the 3rd week and have no negative side effect, I plan on using the bonus dose and will get the 5mg , I want to try and go up to 3.75 in the middle of month 2 and if that works and no side effect and I’m still losing then I’ll stay on that and use it till the bonus dose and then go up to 5 for my 3rd pen.

I'm sure I saw Ashcroft pharmacy or is cheaper and the one to price compare with. I plan to do the same. So need the cheapest non code site.
I don't want to chop and change providers each time as my bmi is 31 already so might be under in not too long and don't want to risk any issues. It was hard enough them keep asking for more pics to verify my bmi despite being a size 16/18.

Ooh, good question. I guess increased suppression => reduced calories. But the drugs do have other effects that cause weight loss, such as insulin release, that would also make a difference.

I'm taking my third injection tomorrow, and also already wondering whether to increase or not next month. Having lost 4kgs in two weeks, I'm feeling like I'm off to a good start. I don't have complete suppression, but it's made all the difference to being able to ignore the biscuits and booze.

Gr3atEscape · 22/10/2024 14:42

Something has just occured to me. Haven't had good sleep the last few nights (baby related not MJ) and normally on these days when I'm tired, I would just be on a sugar quest all day long and be non stop grazing all day. I haven't done that the last 2 days. I have been feeling hungry since my second shot and I assumed that meant it wasn't really working for me on the lower dose but actually if I think about it, I am eating so much better than I normally would in these circumstances and it is not so hard.

Mamato4R · 22/10/2024 14:44

I have decided to get the 5 pen. I have great suppression at the moment but if I don't in 2 weeks or something I'm stuck with this dose pen. Where as if I get the 5 I can always do the smaller doses. From what I can see the prices are very similar/ if not the same so even if I end up 'wasting' some at the end of the 4 (5 if your doing a bonus shot) weeks it will be better than not having enough if the suppression ends.

That's my train of thought for what I am going to do Friday anyway xx

Vegemite123 · 22/10/2024 14:44

I'm also daydreaming of a day I'll be slim and have to "explain myself". While I'd rather not have the attention, it'd be nice to get to that stage!

I used to run (not fast ... but enough) and I'm hoping to start again when I get rid of this sodding cold. So that might "explain" it.

Also, I practically live in dog walking clothes (for the school run and traipsing around the village ... I change into a work uniform later). So I always look pretty grotty! I'm planning a spring "metamorphosis" when I can breezily state "oh, no - no change. It's just that you're used to seeing me in my old walking clobber!".

I'm quite similar. Today (injection due tomorrow) I def felt hungry at lunchtime. But I wasn't dashing to the fridge at the soonest opportunity, and I've eaten quite a small lunch (corn thins and Vegemite).

Also, I've had the two WORST weeks since starting (tail end of a cold. PMS. Visitors. Period starting. ANOTHER sodding cold). All of which would normally be managed with beer and ice cream and crisps and unhealthy dinners.

This is great! For me it has been more of an all day hunger rather than just mealtimes but I am able to tolerate it more than normal.
I am very interested in what the effect will be the week before my period as I am normally ravenous then! Has anyone found their appetite is more stable with their cycle on MJ or still have a hungry week (if other people have that too!)

MontyJinks · 22/10/2024 16:16

IlovetoKnitandRead · 21/10/2024 01:39

Insomnia for the second night running. I am on W1 D5 now and apart from a cold this week and a few burps on Weds and Thursday I am feeling fab. Joint pain seems to have gone, appetite is suppressed and the Sunday chocolate remains uneaten ( unheard of). My bruise from the injection site is a glorious shade of purple now.
I might tell my husband next week??

I'm also in the 'not yet told DH' camp 🙈 Debating whether to tell him or not (I definitely won't tell anyone else), but silly as it sounds I almost don't want to admit to anyone else that I have a 'problem' with food. I know myself that I clearly do and hopefully this magical injection will allow me to reset my attitudes and have a healthier lifestyle going forwards, after the initial weight loss. Got 4-5 stone to lose though and no idea of how long it will take, or when side effects will kick in, it's early days yet, so don't know if I will be able to keep it from him for the duration anyway. I'll see how it goes. Love the support of this group, feels that I'm 'not going it alone' after all.

Weirdly, my period caught me by surprise today. Normally I get early warning advance notice with bloating, crying and having pointless arguments with DH from a couple of days before. But nothing this month. Not sure if it's a coincidence or MJ or just what I'm eating and not drinking.

killamounjaro · 22/10/2024 16:37

@Doghairismyglitter I also emailed MedExpress but haven't heard back from them yet. It's a tricky one isn't it.

I've been in touch with IQdoctor and they look reasonable long term (c£138 2.5 & 5ml with no discounts- £108 first month with a discount)
