First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

I'm also daydreaming of a day I'll be slim and have to "explain myself". While I'd rather not have the attention, it'd be nice to get to that stage!

I used to run (not fast ... but enough) and I'm hoping to start again when I get rid of this sodding cold. So that might "explain" it.

Also, I practically live in dog walking clothes (for the school run and traipsing around the village ... I change into a work uniform later). So I always look pretty grotty! I'm planning a spring "metamorphosis" when I can breezily state "oh, no - no change. It's just that you're used to seeing me in my old walking clobber!".

Outside of work I live in leggings / horsey stuff and I'm a grotty swamp beast a lot of the time. I hate attention on myself, but if anyone asks I'm just going to be like 'no change - but I have washed my hair?'

I'm also in the 'not yet told DH' camp 🙈 Debating whether to tell him or not (I definitely won't tell anyone else), but silly as it sounds I almost don't want to admit to anyone else that I have a 'problem' with food. I know myself that I clearly do and hopefully this magical injection will allow me to reset my attitudes and have a healthier lifestyle going forwards, after the initial weight loss. Got 4-5 stone to lose though and no idea of how long it will take, or when side effects will kick in, it's early days yet, so don't know if I will be able to keep it from him for the duration anyway. I'll see how it goes. Love the support of this group, feels that I'm 'not going it alone' after all.

I feel the same. My DH is very black and white. He has never struggled with his emotions for relationship with food. When he’s gained a little weight he simply cuts back - he’s never counted a calorie. He simply cannot understand why I can’t do the same.

I tried to broach weight loss injections with him and he just said “I can’t listen to this” and walked off. He struggles to speak about anything deep and I know will view this as trivial.

I did the same after a boob job many years ago. I had it in the Autumn as I figured nobody would remember what my boobs looked liked before when I wore summer stuff. I was right! Nobody said anything - although it would be a bit odd for them to mention.

CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair · 22/10/2024 16:56

Can I joim please as I'm planning to start tomorrow. I'm currenlty aroung 16 stone. I've told my husband who is supportive but don't want anyone else to know. I feel ashamed its come to this but also don't want people to be looking at me ans scrutinising my body and esring and drinking habits.

Mounjarjar · 22/10/2024 16:58

I’m 5 month pp so I’m hoping that if I lose weight, I can just shrug it off as ‘baby weight’ (although it’s my second child and I haven’t lost the weight from the first)

recklessgran · 22/10/2024 17:12

Afternoon all.
W1D5 and the feeling good continues.
I'm still not interested in snacking or indeed eating anything much and definitely not wanting any "treats". This is a revelation to somebody that for as long as I can remember has punctated their day with food rewards. e.g. "I'll just clean the bathroom and then I'll have a nice cup of tea and some biscuits." Please tell me I'm not the only one that did this?
DH and I met DD4 for lunch and I struggled to get through grilled plaice with carrots and tenderstem - I left the potatoes untouched. I had a black coffee whilst DH and DD had dessert. Hopefully DD didn't notice the change - I already had an excuse about not wanting a big meal at lunchtime lined up.
Welcome to all the new starters - what a lovely thread this is!

Is anyone else with Voy? They're not very responsive 😕

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 22/10/2024 17:35

My 5mg pen came today from Zava and they've gave me 7 needles!! I might try and break the pen for golden dose since I have spare needles!!

I've ordered today with Voy - they dealt with my application within the hour, very straightforward and slick, and despatched pretty much immediately. It's now with Royal Mail for 24 delivery, and I only started with them at lunchtime today. I'm thrilled with Voy tbh!

What is the issue you've had?

I didn't tell DH when I ordered to begin with but I ended up telling him when he suggested having crisps etc when watching tv 🤣 I do have a treat with him at the weekend though and I've still lost. I'm 1 stone 0.5lbs down

hopeishere · 22/10/2024 17:45

@Cheris I'm trying to contact the re the next pen but no reply.

Oh I see, I'm not at that stage yet. Have you contacted your coach? Hope you get sorted.

@Vegemite123 ‘I'm planning a spring "metamorphosis" when I can breezily state "oh, no - no change. It's just that you're used to seeing me in my old walking clobber!’

Sooooo funny!

@SunQueen24 Erm that’s not very supportive! Why would he walk off? I’m sorry about that. You need him onboard to support you!

@CultureAlienationBoredomandDespair
Yes please join us! Please don’t feel ashamed. You have nothing to feel ashamed about. Blame the arsehole companies that put god knows what in our food! We deserve this chance. We have done nothing wrong. We deserve to look and feel better. I’m willing to bet that almost all of us here have struggled with our weight for a very long time. We’ve all reached the end of the road with it and we’ve had enough. Welcome aboard!

@Mounjarjar I sometimes think I could use the baby weight thing but then my last child was 12 years ago. I could still try it 👀

@recklessgran It really is a revelation isn’t it! I can’t believe how much I don’t give a fuck about food. I’ve been obsessing over it since the age of about 10 and it’s gone. I think, ‘Oh I will go and make lunch now’… 2hrs later, still no lunch! Isn’t it nice for you to be in control for a change!

@PepsiMaxandPringleStacks Yipeeeeee!

ohdearwhatnow12 · 22/10/2024 18:08

Evening all!

W3 D1, 6ibs lost so far.
SW 11st 5
CW 10st 13
GW 8st 5

Got another two stone to go, and lost 6ibs, currently weighing in at 3ibs loss a week. Really hoping I can get another 3 lost this week and next but have a feeling I will be slowing down. Being only 5ft tall, every pound counts 🤣

Wishing all of you the best of luck on your week! X

ApolloandDaphne · 22/10/2024 18:09

I have a daft question. I did my first dose on Sunday. When I come to do the next doses do I still prime the pen in the same way or is it primed on the first go and you go straight to the next dose?

SunQueen24 · 22/10/2024 18:09

@HansHolbein my DH really struggles to relate to anyone that doesn’t think like him. He does not experience the emotions I do and cannot relate. He’s brilliant in many ways but he’s difficult with matters of the mind!

memememe · 22/10/2024 18:21

I did my second injection last night on w1d6 and weighed in today lost 4lb this week. Had a ham and cheese sarnie when out for lunch today (not my usual high protein choice!) and only wanted 3/4 of the first half. No cake or crisps like usual. So the suppression seems to be doing it's thing, no side effects as yet.

I shall prime for every needle. It's basically making sure the needle is full up, to ensure a more exact dose (when you withdraw the needle a small amount will remain in the used needle, so the amount taken out of the syringe will be your exact dose).

Snap! Injection last night and 4lb off
Well done you 👏

I primed again for my second dose and it gave me the confidence that it is all working.

ApolloandDaphne · 22/10/2024 18:30

Thank you.

Searchingforthelight · 22/10/2024 18:46

It's great to read of everyone's experiences?

I have to thank the very existence of Mumsnet to know about Mountjaro

I tried saxenda early last year for a short time but felt nauseous and couldn't continue

If it wasn't for the weight loss injection threads continually appearing on Active when log into Mumsnet, I'd never have clicked on one(eventually) and discovered Mountjaro

Having struggled with weight since early 30s, this really is the magic cure! So thrilled with it. I have occasionally over the years lost weight but it was always a huge struggle and I was heavier than I had ever been when I read about and ordered Mounjaro 10days ago

Starting weight 206
Current weight 198
Goal weight 140- which would be mid normal BMI for my height

FuckOffGerms · 22/10/2024 18:49

I’m week 2, day 5 and can definitely feel the suppression wearing off. I was hungry at lunchtime today but didn’t go overboard as I would have done without MJ.

Third dose due on Thursday, but I’m travelling all day - very early start and not likely to be back home until 9pm. I’m tempted to bring it forward to tomorrow. Side effects have been minimal. What does everyone think?

Plenty of people seem to take it like this
Once there is 72hrs since last dose, it's ok it seems

Sounds like a sensible plan too if travelling all day thursday

Ive done all my 2.5mg injections after 6 days not 7. Next week is my last and im plannig to use the golden dose to go to 5mg and see how that works then decide if im staying at 6 or going to 7. Im managing the symptoms and informed on how the jab works, waiting for it to reach its half life, so making it work for me. Not as they planned, granted, but its working
