First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

Absolutely no judgment from me. We are all here for different reasons and they are all valid; including our weights/heights! Group hug!

Did you do that because you didn't feel you had enough suppression? 18lb in 3 weeks is a huge amount to lose

I did it as I work away / compete away at weekends and I’m not always routinely home. I wanted to be in control and at home after taking the jag should I have developed any side effects. It just so happened I could work my diary that I was taking it a day early. And as I had no notable side effects I just pressed on. I could feel suppression waning around day 5. My suppression has never been inhibitive though- just enough to support better choices.

18lbs seems like a lot of weight to lose in that time, but in my younger, less injured and decrepit days I boxed so I am all over my macronutrition / know how to get weight off efficiently whilst staying healthy. I’m still eating between 1600-2000kcal a day depending on activity levels. There was a week where I only lost 1lb but that’s normal for me to stick - nothing a wee carb cycle doesn’t push through. I won’t maintain that loss as I’ll start to develop muscle, and after around 2.5 stone I’ll probably see loss of inches quicker than I see the loss on the scales.

Suppose what I’m trying to say there is that definitely shouldn’t be seen as the norm for everyone and either my body is reacting massively well overall, or I’ve got a slight edge on having a tried and tested strategy for nutrition.

I just can’t believe how efficient my metabolism is, and how much of an uphill battle this was before MJ. There was a point last year I was doing all the same things minus MJ, and it took me 5 weeks to lose 3lbs.

JustMoved123 · 22/10/2024 01:35

Well done on some great losses on here

W2 - day2 First weigh in
SW 86.5
CW 84.2
GW 65

Weight loss 2.3kgs (5lb)

Good suppression until Saturday and then Sunday I was really hungry!
No major side effects, bit of a headache and I feel tired so onwards and upwards, I can’t wait until I can say I’ve lost 10kgs.

i am also vertically challenged so really need those numbers down, I feel a little daunted with the task ahead tbh.

Mamato4R · 22/10/2024 06:32

Just a little warning incase anyone gets the same. I had a couple of vodka diet cokes last night. Have only done it one other time in this journey. Week 2 day 6. Had a really crap sleep/felt weird this morning. Upon checking my libre this morning my sugars dropped very low from the alcohol. I guess my body dealing with it.
On a plus i hit my 1stone loss this morning.

Morning all.

Have any of you had issues with stomach pain and diarrhea when starting?

I'd had a grumbling stomach yesterday and lots of burping but then last night after dinner I had really bad diarrhea and stomachs pains. After the initial bout I was up and down a few times during the night.

I feel better this morning but it was so bad last night that I'm actually worried if this is sustainable. Hoping it's just my body adjusting as the guidance suggests but man it was rough!

No, I’m fine but I read up and do these things:

take psyllium husk with a large glass of water and probiotic every morning.
eat food which is low fat, low sugar, low carb. Plenty of veg, salad, protein and I also like dried fruit.
drink plenty of water throughout the day.

so far no issues, I think what you eat seems to lead to issues ie too much fatty food or heavy carbs, and you need a probiotic to protect your gut health,

ApolloandDaphne · 22/10/2024 09:06

I did my first dose on Sunday and haven't had a single side effect yet.

MissSmith80 · 22/10/2024 09:20

Week 2 Day 1 check in.

Wow! I lost 3.5 kgs (just over half a stone I think) in week 1 and felt no hardship doing it at all.

SW: 85kgs
CW: 81.5kgs
Christmas target: 77 kgs
Goal weight: 67 kgs

I do realise that it won't continue that way - my body would have been shocked, I went from eating all of the 'wrong' stuff to high protein, low fat, low sugar overnight so it's no surprise I had a good drop. The surprise is just how easy it felt. I've tried to lose weight a few times since I had my son (I was an older FTM so think peri- meno started to kick in not long after I had him), and have really struggled - after a great week of eating/exercise, I'd only see a few ounces off and it was so disheartening so I'd just abandon (I know that doesn't say much about my willpower). But seeing the scales this morning has been such a boost and now I'm up and running and feeling to much better already - I feel more energetic it's like feeling 'lighter'.

Only side effect was poor sleep, that was much better last night so I'm slightly concerned that was the MJ effect reducing towards the end of the week and so I'll be back to poor sleep for the next few days but without a doubt it's worth it. I'll keep my fingers crossed that it's only my body adjusting.

Off to do injection number 2. Have a great day everyone x

HansHolbein · 22/10/2024 09:25

Morning all!

Just did my second injection. I still can’t believe how painless it is. I really don’t like that needle coming towards my body though… every part of me is saying no!

I’ve lost 6.5lbs. I usually ignore the first weeks weight loss on a diet because it’s water and usually start paying attention the second week. However, on my usual diets I would do the first week, be pleased with the weight loss.. and then start eating normally again. This is different, I don’t want to do that because I am not interested. Such a powerful drug!

Start date: 15th October 2024
First week weight loss on 2.5mg
6.5lbs/2.9kg

Stats
5’5/165cm
33yrs PCOS
SW: 16st 2.7lbs/102.8kg/226.7lbs
CW: 15st 10.2lbs/99.8kg/220.2lbs
GW: 9st 2lbs/58kg/128lbs

Side effects have been minimal. Some burping, sleeping difficulties on a few of the nights. I sleep like shit in general so I don’t know if that is relevant. My appetite has been struck dead and I have only felt real hunger on a couple of occasions.

I didn’t eat enough last week so this week I will be concentrating on getting some more food in me! Mostly protein. I did a crash diet a couple of years ago and really restricted my calories and my hair was falling out in clumps. I want to avoid that this time. So I’m going to have to force myself.

Love reading all your messages. Thank you all for you support. Even though it only week one and anything could change going forward, I am really happy with how things are going. The weight loss is a bonus but it is so freeing to not care about food. I can’t remember the last time that food didn’t consume me!

IlovetoKnitandRead · 22/10/2024 09:31

1st weigh and I have lost 4lb so I am very happy with that. I did my second 2.5mg last night as I am off out this evening. I have managed an average of 1050 calories a day and only yesterday eve had hunger pains. I am feeling really positive and in control for the first time in years.
I might tell my husband today!!

HansHolbein · 22/10/2024 09:32

@MissSmith80 Well done! Our experience seems very similar. Oh I totally understand about that lighter feeling! More energy, too.

@ApolloandDaphne I’m going to sound like a dick as my experience has been different but I have read so many people saying the same thing on the Mounjaro subreddits. Some of these people have felt nothing on 2.5mg but on 5mg it’s hit them really well! The main thing is you keep going. Keep making healthy choices.

@Littlelunch Sounds horrible! So sorry to read that. What are you eating? It could just be that your body is taking its time adjusting. Make sure you drink plenty today. Maybe a nice plain omelette or something to eat? Let us know how you get on.

I did have a almost instant dicky belly and it basically cleared me out after eating a chicken kebab. No pitta and essentially just chicken breast and their salad. Is there something you ate that day or the previous day you could link to it?

Tohaveandtohold · 22/10/2024 10:27

Just checking in and we’ll done to everyone for starting and on your losses. Well done to @Mamato4R for losing 1 stone 🙌. I hope to get there soon. Week 3 day 3 and everything is still going well over here. I hope you feel better soon @Littlelunch

Littlelunch · 22/10/2024 10:54

Thanks all.

I've ordered some pro biotic stuff.

I ate well yesterday - smoothie, lentil soup and then salmon and some veg so I don't think it's that.

Thankfully feeling better this morning and managed some toast.

JulesK17 · 22/10/2024 11:39

An update on my issue with the pen. I couldn’t get the 4th dose to work, the pen was stuck. I popped to a chemist on Sunday and he advised me to get a new needle, he actually gave me 2 for free! I went back to try it and it worked, seems the last needle was faulty. It’s worth knowing in case anyone has an issue, I would try a new needle.

TheOtherSide21 · 22/10/2024 11:41

Although I’ve not been constipated per se I have definitely felt things slowing down - most likely a result of increasing dietary protein rather than lack of food as still eating circa 1800kcal a day.

I have swapped my high / pure protein breakfast out for a smoothie made with fruit, water and protein yoghurt for the past two days and have felt a difference. I also don’t always feel like chewing in the morning so another way to get decent kcals in with minimal effort. May help someone feeling the same.

almondmilk123 · 22/10/2024 12:01

To all who are constipated - one word - chia seeds - okay two words.

I'm 3 days in, no symptoms so far other than feeling a bit 'spaced out', but that just might be me 😂 Don't know whether it's willpower, placebo effect or it worked immediately, but within hours of the jab, for me, the food noise was instantly switched off. Weird. My DH did a Sunday roast, usually I'd have a huuuuge plate (and therein lies my problem), but I ate about half of what I'd usually have and felt full. Weird. I turned down wine (previously unheard of). Caramel cheesecake for pudding, which I neither 'wanted' nor didn't 'want' - never felt ambivalence towards food before. Weird. This will take some getting used to.

ClosingTime93 · 22/10/2024 12:56

@MontyJinks Happened to me too. A few hours after the first jab, there was just silence, the annoying noise was gone. I'm on day 5 now and I feel like it's returning a little bit. But I can easily distract myself, it's not as consuming. I managed to do the shopping without even paying attention to the in-store bakery, which normally takes all my willpower.

Pegsmum · 22/10/2024 13:03

Well done to everyone who has had great losses! I’m due my 4th jab tomorrow and need to reorder and am debating whether to move up to 5mg or stick at 2.5mg for another month. The suppression is not as extreme as it was but it’s manageable and makes life a bit easier…but is it a waste not to move up a dose? Very unsure, anyone else sticking at 2.5??

PickleSarnie · 22/10/2024 13:15

@Pegsmum I'm definitely moving up to 5mg. My appetite has definitely reduced on 2.5mg but I've had no side effects so I hope I don't have anything to lose in going up to 5mg.

I'm getting the 5 but only going to use a half shot if I am still getting results on 2.5mg. this way I can decide mid month to move up to 5mg if I feel 2.5mg is no longer doing anything. Otherwise you are stuck with the lower dose for a whole month.
It was always my plan to use as low a dose as possible for as long as possible and only move up when I needed to. I am only on my second week though and definitely alot hungrier than last week so in all likelihood I'll move to 5mg on wk 5/6
