First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

@Seattlegirl72 I'm a long term insomniac prior to starting and have reasonable improvement with Nytol, You can get it from a pharmacy but don't need a prescription. I used to take one a night but my first night after MJ was terrible so last night I took two and slept until 6.00am which is really good for me anyway. Nytol is an antihistamine so doesn't seem to have any contraindications as far as I'm aware.

Well strictly speaking the 30 day shelf life does just allow for a 9 day gap doesn't it? So, for example I took my first dose on Friday 18th October. This means my pen must be used up by 15th November. So if I took my 2nd dose after 9 days that would be 27th October and 3rd dose after another 9 days that would be on 5th November then final dose 9 days after that 14th November that would still be inside the 30 day shelf life wouldn't is? That would save a lot of money in the long term as then I wouldn't need to start my second pen until 23rd November. However, I've read that the MJ half life is 5 days so I'm anticipating that by day 7 the appetite suppression will have dropped off. I'm going to keep an open mind I think and play it my ear and see what's happening when my next dose is due on Friday. I suspect I'll be ready for jab 2.

Yes, it allows for the 5th dose. It doesn’t allow for two months as we were discussing,

ItsMintUpNorth · 20/10/2024 08:39

Well done to everyone on the great losses, I'm so happy to be part of such a supportive and active thread.

Jab 3 for me tonight, so end of week two weigh in

SW: 17st 4
CW: 16st 10
GW: 11st 4 for the time being...

Another good week for me, good suppression from the off but not so much that it's made eating hard or not enjoyable. Still very little reduction in food noise but when I do have those thoughts it's immediately countered by 'but I can't have that as it would make me ill!'. My week has been almost identical to week 1 with really intense hunger pangs on day 6 but they were satisfied after a small meal so not had to actually eat more. I've also woken up feeling nauseas which again is the exact same as what happened last Sunday it's bizarre as not had much other nausea.

KolaKoalaKan · 20/10/2024 09:20

Just done Jab 3. Have lost 9lbs so far.

Week 1 easy but suppressions wore off after 4 days. But oh my, week 2 has been brutal. I have had such a bad tummy with diarrhoea and nausea near constant until yesterday. Sleep is bad. The suppression has been amazing but there were a few days where I thought I couldn't eat at all I felt so sick and had to force myself to. Took some antisickness meds. Also had bad heartburn at one stage.

So yesterday when I woke up feeling human (but with suppression) the relief was real! I actually got some stuff done. So I was so nervous doing jab 3 just now. I'm so scared of having another week like the last! But I'm determined to plough on. I keep reminding myself that the side effects usually settle for most people and I need this to work.

@Doghairismyglitter I'm therefore so with you! It's hard reading about others who are having the benefits with minimal side effects and feeling a bit alone in struggling. I've felt so anxious about doing this next jab and wondered about delaying but as I felt ok again yesterday I decided to go ahead. I think if I had still felt dreadful I would have delayed. I think we have to realise that everyone is unique and so we will react differently. Maybe we will be able to stay on a lower dose for longer? Things that have helped me this week - omeprazole and antisickness pills, sipping water near constantly (I've drunk about 2.5-3l daily), hot water bottles. I also discovered that I do need to eat as I was feeling more sick not eating. So I've made some nutty seedy granola bites that are palatable to nibble on and high energy, protein, fibre and nutrients. I've bought some Biomel probiotic drinks as recommended on the Facebook group and have blitzed them with half a banana and half a yeo valley fruit yoghurt with some ice and sipped on them - good for protein. I've made sure to start taking a multivitamin alongside the usual supplements I take. Have you found anything that's working for you?

I do wonder how much of this is the manufacturer keeping sales up and stopping people stretching them out but I will be sticking to it regardless in case there are worse side effects/less effectiveness as it gets old

Let’s be honest there is no benefit to the company in doing a study or telling people that it’s still good after the 30 days. Yes it may lose a fraction of its effects but by what amount?
Im keeping mine stored in the fridge instead of transitioning it to room temperature to keep the temperature stable. I will be using a pen after the 30days if I want to.
If I feel it doesn’t work then no loss!

Once the seal is broken it’s to be used within 30 days, I assume as the air getting in will somehow degrade the medication. Someone more expert than me will come along but I wouldn’t use it for double the time like this.

Very true - that’s why in the end I decided to stick with lower dose and the official dosing system- it’s there for a reason and probably shouldn’t be messed with !

These chats are very interesting- I keep swaying between use as stated and use as you’ve said. But - as you’ve said if it’s in the fridge and stable if it loses some of its efficacy you can live with that. Just as long as nothing else happens to it after 30 days with seal broken (which I guess is different from keeping in the fridge until expiration date unbroken.)

Doghairismyglitter · 20/10/2024 09:40

End of week 2 and weigh in day - another 4 lbs loss. Don’t know how people are managing to lose 7/8/9 lbs a week, I’ve barely eaten this week!

@KolaKoalaKan sounds like we were in the same boat symptom wise. Fingers crossed for less symptoms this week. I’m taking collagen and multi vitamins and electrolyte drinks.

Have decided to inject my thigh this week and after I’ve eaten, rather than my stomach on an empty stomach, to see if that helps with the symptoms!

My anxiety is still so low though which is such a blessing, I’m reluctant not to take the MJ as don’t want it to come back!

I think you have to go with what’s right for you. I’ve been feeling pretty strung out on this MJ - definitely don’t want to feel any worse - especially the sleep side of things for me which has been absolutely horrendous. Most days my head is stinging with tiredness. That’s why I’ve decided to stick with 2.5 for the second month and I’m actually hoping that’s all I’ll ever need. It’s a strong medication and the less taken for me the better it is. If we can get the results we want with upping the dose and think it’s an absolute bonus. Never mind if we lose a little slower as long as we’re losing. Definitely eat, it does help with feeling sick - which I also feel especially in the first 2-4 days. Keep your blood sugar stable. Keep going ladies - hope the worst of your side effects will dissipate with future doses. I’m day 2 week 3 and don’t feel too bad. Hoping my sleep will improve !!! @Doghairismyglitter yiur granola bars sound delightful 😃

Everyone can do what they think is right, we are all different and will all operate differently. For myself, I'm fully aware it may lose some of its effects and I can live with that. I haven’t read any articles that has mentioned not to use it after the 30 days because of some horrendous side effects will happen, just the fact it may not work as well.

I can live with that and I’m willing to be a human guinea pig to find out 😂

The companies and manufacture have to cover them selves.

Day 7 week 1, injection due tonight and I’m really hungry! I didn’t weigh until Tuesday so I’ll wait until then for the full week total. I didn’t realise what an impact the medication had until today.

KolaKoalaKan · 20/10/2024 09:49

@Doghairismyglitter Yes it's great for anxiety isn't it! It's quietened my ADHD noise too which is amazing. These benefits were unexpected but I'm loving them. Just want the sickness to go away! Is collagen meant to help with nausea too? I had assumed that was for loose skin. I think I have some, I might add that in to my supplement stash!

@EVK Thank you! You're right, slow and steady. I honestly would be terrified to double the dose at the moment and why would I?! If I'm losing weight at this dose then all is good. I guess it could change as the body adjusts, so we can be flexible.

Doghairismyglitter · 20/10/2024 10:08

@KolaKoalaKan I take collagen for hair loss as when I’ve lost weight quickly before my hair has thinned and I really didn’t like it!

Im definitely nowhere near moving up to 5mg!

MissSmith80 · 20/10/2024 10:14

Morning everyone.
I have an awful case of vaginal thrush - I know it's not the MJ, if anything it should protect against it due to the sugar balancing effect, but it's horrible and making me really miserable. I've stated treatment so hoping it improves soon but the chink of light is that despite feeling very sorry for myself, no desire at all to comfort eat.

I'm enjoying reading your plans for future doses, I'm only on day 5 so a way of having to decide what to do for month 2, but thanks for all your comments/thoughts.

I hope everyone has a lovely Sunday.
I'm

HansHolbein · 20/10/2024 10:44

@MissSmith80 Oh you poor thing! I recently had thrush after some antibiotics; it was horrible. I had it many years ago (again after antibiotics!) and forgot how shit it was.

What treatment have you used? I used the double one which worked very quickly. Also some Greek yogurt on the vulva really soothed it. Sorry to anyone eating yogurt this morning…

igivein · 20/10/2024 10:46

I had my third jab yesterday. I hesitate to say this as it’s tempting fate, but I’ve had hardly anything by way of side effects so far.
I had an email from Medexpress saying time to move up to 5mg for next month, and I’m pondering what to do. It’s working so well for me, but was definitely starting to wear off a bit by day 6, but nothing I couldn’t deal with. Not sure I need to move to a bigger dose - I think I’ll see how it goes this week.
Maybe I could get the 5mg pen but not take the full dose, take 3 or 4mg (bonus of stretching the pen to 5 doses). Then I could take 5mg if I felt the need.
I don’t want to race through the doses too quickly, as I have an awful lot to lose so it’s going to take a while. I don’t want to reach the maximum dose and it not be enough.
Anyway - scores on the doors for week 2:

SW: 128.0kg
CW:121.0kg

So 7kg (that’s 15.4lbs in old money) - that’s absolutely stunning! Especially since I’m 60 years old and very post menopausal. Since menopause any dieting efforts have resulted in losses in ounces rather than pounds.
Fully expect losses to slow down now as all the ‘water weight’ is likely gone, and it’s not good to lose too quickly (even though it feels nice when you stand on the scales 😁). But if I could continue to lose about a kilo (2lbs-ish) a week that would do nicely.
Added bonus is I have a lot more energy - I was like a whirlwind yesterday, pegging out washing, ironing, cleaning, putting the greenhouse to bed for the winter, even made a pizza from scratch for dh and ds and didn’t have any because I didn’t fancy it!

I only have the cream at the moment but am about to pop out and get the dual effect one.
I also read about dipping a tampon in to live and inserting it so will try that and yes, I did have Greek yoghurt for breakfast Smile

HansHolbein · 20/10/2024 10:52

@MissSmith80 Oh dear 😂 When mine was bad I took the tub upstairs and had one leg on the floor and one leg on the bed.. scooped some yogurt out and was enjoying the cooling feeling on my fan… husband walked in, walked straight back out. He was appalled and hasn’t eaten it since.. but it does work!

HansHolbein · 20/10/2024 10:53

Also just to say that tub was exclusively mine for a couple of days and nobody else used it.. I think I need a coffee

Doghairismyglitter · 20/10/2024 11:02

@HansHolbein thats the best thing I’ve read in ages 🤣🤣

Gr3atEscape · 20/10/2024 11:15

Week 2 day 3 and still feeling hungry. I know this low dose doesn't work for some people but because I had suppression last week however subtle, I hoped it would continue. Feeling impatient now as 2.5 weeks seems like a long time before moving up. I have alot to lose and this will be a long journey so have to be patient and just lean on willpower in the meantime.

letshavetea · 20/10/2024 11:42

Well, I’m just about to inject dose four (2.5). I have lost 4 1/4 pounds in three weeks.
Height 5 foot 6
SW 12 stone 10 3/4
CW 12 stone 6.5
GW probably 10 or 10 and a half stone
Also take Levothyroxine and Sertraline.
Obviously I’d have liked more - but it’s okay. I have had some slight nausea, some constipation (seems better now) and some initial trouble sleeping (also getting better). I do find the suppression wears off by day five and that then makes me want some wine! Not food so much.
I feel I’ve got into a nice routine of eating well - plenty of protein, fruit and veg. I still need to up the exercise. Water drinking is no problem as I’m thirsty.
I’m glad I’m on this as with a fairly slow loss I’d probably have given up by now!
I’m currently trying to order two pens at once from Oushk to see me over a forthcoming holiday. Their website only lets me order one (even though I emailed to ask about this!). So, I’ll have to phone them tomorrow. I’m going to stay on 2.5 on my holiday and go up to 5 on my return. I’ve ordered a Friowallet to keep my pen in. I’ve also ordered some medical grade insulin syringes just in case I need them for my bonus dose next week.
I’m really enjoying being a member of this thread and reading all your stories and successes!

NearlyNewHip · 20/10/2024 12:45

I've decided I'm going to use my 2.5 mg month and probably part of 5 mg month to gradually change my eating habits. I've been on all diets known to man for the past 25 odd years, obv none of them have worked for me. Part of this is because I start each diet with an all or nothing attitude. The last one was Slimming World, empties all cupboards, threw out anything classed as too many syns, bought a fridge load of veg and fruit and by the end of week one ended up feeling carrots were a punishment not a food......

So this time little, gradual changes until I've reinforced the habit that veg etc is a normal part of a plate of dinner and salad can be nice and not a punishment!!!

ADVICE PLEASE! Week 1 was kind to me both side effects and suppression wise.

Week 2 has been pretty bloody awful with side effects and suppression has gone too far, I.e barely eating at all.
it’s Week 2 Day 6 and my appetite is still non existent, feel so sick, dizzy and fatigued.

Injection day tomorrow for Week 3 - should I / can I delay it till I’m feeling better? I really don’t want the suppression to get worse than it is right now!

This might be too late, in case you've already injected. But just wanted to say I had really bad side effects in week one (full suppression, high anxiety, dizzy/faint, and palpitations - fun times!) I was really nervous about taking the next dose, but decided to do a half dose 1.25mg (30 pen clicks) and it has made a huge difference this week! Feeling a lot more myself and can eat, but without the food noise.

Thank you for this. I've taken a screenshot for next week as it could be very helpful for me. I had my first dose yesterday morning and by yesterday evening I was jittery, nauseous and dizzy and on complete high alert. Every noise made me jump. I ended up googling as I'm Autistic and I just felt like it heightened everything for me. I kept convincing myself thay MJ was not for me. It has calmed today, but I shall keep this advice for next week depending how the rest of this week pans out.
