First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

ADVICE PLEASE! Week 1 was kind to me both side effects and suppression wise.

Week 2 has been pretty bloody awful with side effects and suppression has gone too far, I.e barely eating at all.
it’s Week 2 Day 6 and my appetite is still non existent, feel so sick, dizzy and fatigued.

Injection day tomorrow for Week 3 - should I / can I delay it till I’m feeling better? I really don’t want the suppression to get worse than it is right now!

Poor you, you have really had a tough time. Maybe have a word with your provider and see what they advise. They should be able to steer you in the right direction. If it were me, I think I would delay it until I felt right again but I would speak to them first to make sure.

Homeiswherethedogis · 19/10/2024 19:56

Week 2 Day 1 (2nd injection tonight)

sw 14st 2
cw 13st 10
gw 12st (maybe 11st see how I progress)

6lb loss. Chuffed with that. Starting to learn a lot about my own relationship with food. How I ignore my bodies signals of feeling full. Well I can't do that know, so I'm absolutely re-evaluating my relationship with food.

FuckOffGerms · 19/10/2024 20:24

Week 2, day 2 here.

I’ve definitely felt appetite suppression, but it didn’t feel as much as week 1. But, I organised take away for tea as I made the mistake of underestimating how long the oven cleaner goo would take 🙈 I usually demolish it, but I ate half and couldn’t finish. It’s a very weird feeling!

JulesK17 · 19/10/2024 21:14

So mad.. week 4 injection today and the pen jammed, couldn’t get it to work. Wouldn’t push in 🥲.

HansHolbein · 19/10/2024 21:26

Lovely to read all your updates, they are so encouraging. Good and bad. It’s so nice to know you are going through the same thing with other people.

W1D4 for me and it’s been a total game changer. I just don’t give a shit about food. I say to myself ‘I’ll go and make some lunch’ and then 2hrs later I still haven’t done it.

I’m finding a protein shake in the morning really helpful and sets me up for the day. I am eating but it’s very meh and not particularly enjoyable - I can’t believe a drug can do this. It’s like a light has been switched off.

Currently my only side effect (could be a coincidence?) is that I am not sleeping well. I don’t sleep well in general but it’s pretty bad at the moment.

Obviously things could change when I do my second injection next week but at the moment I am floored by the change.

That happened to me and I bought syringes and extracted the quantity out - 0.6. It worked great.

letshavetea · 19/10/2024 22:22

I’ve learned from hearing about this more than once! Have 1ml insulin syringes and needles in stock, just in case!

EVK · 19/10/2024 22:29

Gr3atEscape · 19/10/2024 18:41

I'm planning to order the 5mg in my next run but only use half if I'm still getting suppression on 2.5mg then up to 3.75mg and see how it goes and so on. Eek out as much as I can on smaller doses as long as they are getting results.

That’s a good idea. I thought about doing the same and making the 5mg last twice as long but I then started worrying about getting dose right. I’m guessing it’s the same amount of solution with a higher concentration of the active medication per ml. Or however it’s measured out. I’ll be interested to see how you get on with that. Maybe do it next time for economic reasons?

Sleep has been my worse side effect too. I’m shattered!!

@Gr3atEscape
Hi
Can I just ask, if you are going to buy the 5mg but only use half the dose to make it last twice as long, how do you measure this to be accurate and also are you purchasing extra needles, and if so, where from? Many thanks

ThisOdyssey · 19/10/2024 22:44

Its so fascinating reading about everyone’s experiences this month. I’ve just come to end of Week 1 and I’ve lost 6.5lbs! I’m delighted. I can’t quite believe how the food noise has just disappeared. I actually didn’t realise how much I thought about food, or how often I snacked or picked until it all came to a stop this week. This feels miraculous! Fingers crossed for next week…🤞🏼

HansHolbein · 19/10/2024 22:58

@ThisOdyssey Oh well done you! Agree about the food noise. It’s just, gone? I just don’t care and I’m not bothered. I used to think about food all day long. Long may it last..

If you order some insulin syringes from Amazon then you can use it to get the rest out.

I bought some to get the bonus dose out incase I couldn’t get the pen to twist.

What kind of syringes do you need to get

I'm not planning to use it for twice as long, will stick to the 30 days and throw out what's remaining. I just want to have the option to go up a dose in the month if I need to but stick to as low a dose as possible to get results. There are posts on Mumsnet to show how you can extract a smaller dose by counting the clicks of the pen.

OP posts:
Fizzleaway · 20/10/2024 06:14

You can use this to help you count clicks.

hopefully you can see that clearly as I’m uploading from my phone.

@ThisOdyssey - well done, that’s a great lose.

I think my sleep has been better since taking this drug. Iv always had crap sleep to be honest. I used to wake up in the night anywhere from 1-4 times to go a wee but I think Iv woke up once this week to go a wee! The only change seems to be that I’m having dreams every night! And I sleep soundly but I keep waking up at 6-7am.

Once the seal is broken it’s to be used within 30 days, I assume as the air getting in will somehow degrade the medication. Someone more expert than me will come along but I wouldn’t use it for double the time like this.

PatchworkSilver · 20/10/2024 07:11

Was Day 2 for me yesterday. I had no hunger, really interesting... Yet still we ended up going out for a family meal, but I had a sixth of a poppadom, 3 cubes of chicken and a side dish of tarka Dahl... and was completely satisfied.i equally could have had nothing though...😂..I resonate with things other posters have put, the lack of food noise, and though I didn't eat lots or particularly unhealthily, there's no desire for a cube of cheese, a handful of nuts, or some wine for the evening. Incredibly early days but very interesting. Had a few nightmares last night but I'm a big girl so I can cope! Wishing you all a good day ahead

I do wonder how much of this is the manufacturer keeping sales up and stopping people stretching them out but I will be sticking to it regardless in case there are worse side effects/less effectiveness as it gets old

To be honest, many many things once you break the seal have a short period to use, which is way shorter than if it had remained sealed and airtight. So I suspect it is legit.

Very true, probably just the cynic in me 😂

Day 2 for me.Agree with everyone with food noise.
I noticed lots of people are taking supplements- I am taking a multivitamin and collagen. Have not slept for the last 2 nights worrying about my stressful job and how I will cope if this continues.

Is there anything I can take to help with sleep?

recklessgran · 20/10/2024 08:03

Well strictly speaking the 30 day shelf life does just allow for a 9 day gap doesn't it? So, for example I took my first dose on Friday 18th October. This means my pen must be used up by 15th November. So if I took my 2nd dose after 9 days that would be 27th October and 3rd dose after another 9 days that would be on 5th November then final dose 9 days after that 14th November that would still be inside the 30 day shelf life wouldn't is? That would save a lot of money in the long term as then I wouldn't need to start my second pen until 23rd November. However, I've read that the MJ half life is 5 days so I'm anticipating that by day 7 the appetite suppression will have dropped off. I'm going to keep an open mind I think and play it my ear and see what's happening when my next dose is due on Friday. I suspect I'll be ready for jab 2.
