First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

Well done everyone on your losses!

letshavetea · 17/10/2024 08:12

It’s really nice to see all the losses! Well done.

Bellablahhole · 17/10/2024 09:16

Congratulations to everyone who has reported losses! Whether large or small, they are a success.

Week 2 weigh in for me and I've lost a further 2lb. Very pleased with that and I'll be happy with a 1 - 2lb loss each week moving forwards. I definitely noticed that supression had reduced over the last couple of days but I managed to stay on track. I've just taken my 3rd jab and hoping the magic will kick in again!

SW 14:4.8
CW 13:9.8
Total loss 9lb
GW 10st?

Some great losses being recorded, well done everyone

WafflingDreamer · 17/10/2024 09:37

Anyone else quite bloated at times? I can't figure out what's causing it as it's not every day. I ate something very rich yesterday I also had a couple of mini wraps so wondering if it's too much carbs. Before MJ bread used to make me really bloated so I tend to avoid it completely now. Feel like someone needs to pop me!

Gr3atEscape · 17/10/2024 09:47

Amazing results on here. It's so encouraging. My weigh day is tomorrow, haven't weighed myself yet.
Had 2 glasses of wine last night, felt a bit safe as I didn't have any side effects or much suppression at all. Definitely notice today that I had a drink, normally I wouldn't feel 2 glasses. Not sick or anything too bad just aware of an uneasy in my stomach. I rarely have more than 2 glasses these days but wouldn't be tempted to have more while on this medication which isn't a bad thing at all!

Tohaveandtohold · 17/10/2024 10:27

Just caught up on this thread. Well done to everyone on your losses. My jab and weigh day is on Saturday and I hope for some more loss as week 1 was good. So far, the suppression is still good for me and no side effects so all good here.

FuckOffGerms · 17/10/2024 10:51

Weigh in day for me and I’m 4lbs down after week one. I’m really pleased and grateful I’ve had minimal side effects, except for some nausea and constipation.

Will do my second jab later this afternoon!

UpUpUpU · 17/10/2024 10:59

I did my third last night and I feel ropey today. Really tired and struggling to eat or drink much. I’m forcing down a meal replacement and some water

Yes I'm feeling exactly the same. What's weird is I'm eating things that normally after a couple of days normally eating are when my tummy feels the lightest and flattest. Ie basically low carb. Mine is like a firm hard feeling.
Took my 2nd jab last night. Suppression is amazing. Have just had a protein yoghurt grab and go from a garage whilst out as had completely forgot I haven't even eaten despite being up since 4.

I'm not constipated as still going everyday sometimes even twice.

Hope everyone has a good day

Be good to share what kind of things we eat x

Fizzleaway · 17/10/2024 11:22

Some great loses on here! Well done everyone.

I just did jab 2 a day early as I felt suppression had wore off too much. Official weigh day is sat!

I am just trying to eat "normal" food not shakes or a special diet.

I need to reset my relationship with food, stop mindlessly snacking, eat when I'm hungry and stop when I'm full.

Yesterday I had toast and honey for breakfast, soup and a slice of bread for lunch and chicken, potatoes and courgette for dinner. And a grape to take away the bad taste in my mouth!

Today same for breakfast, not sure re lunch yet and quiche and salad for dinner.

I have just done my second injection which was a lot less daunting than the first!

As for food - I am eating:

Muller light Greek yoghurt for breakfast in the morning

Lunch:
Soup - I mix them up a bit so chicken and vegetable or Moroccan Vegetable or spiced pumpkin or salad and crab sticks / lean ham and a boiled egg.

Dinner:
The same as the rest of the family- Chilli and rice (home made with 5% fat mince) Gammon (lean) egg and Salad (just a couple of oven lighter chips) etc… I try to eat the protein and veg / salad before moving onto the carbs…. So that I naturally feel full by then and don’t eat too much of them but am getting the more nutritious elements of food in my body.

I also do 20,000 steps per day-

The main difference between now and previously when I was gaining weight is that I am not snacking and not going for seconds at dinner and eating a smaller portion.

I always felt hungry… and would grab a chocolate bar, biscuits or crisps to keep me going until my next meal, or in the evening. Mt tummy constantly rumbling away until I fed it… this started a couple of years ago with hot flushes and symptoms of the perimenopause, I now mostly work from home so grabbing a snack to settle a rumbling stomach was incredibly easy!

MJ taking away that constant hunger is so liberating… a total game changer!

PickleSarnie · 17/10/2024 11:37

I've been having overnight oats for breakfast. Steel cut oats, chia seeds, sometimes some psyllium husk, milk, cinnamon and either banana, blueberries, grated apple etc. The steel cut oats don't absorb and expand as much as regular oats but have a nice taste/texture.

Have glut of butternut squash from allotment so having butternut squash soup for lunch (I'll happily eat the same thing for lunch indefinitely!) Then regular dinners but just smaller portions which means we don't have to do different dinners and will be easier to maintain going forwards.

Hi everyone, can I join in? My Mounjaro is in the post so my first day is likely to be Saturday. I'm 50 perimenopausal with 3 stones to lose but otherwise healthy. This has been a big decision for me.

I'm a bit nervous if I'm honest. I'm worried about side effects but will deal with them if they come.

I'm also worried about potentially under eating and not getting enough calories in the day to function. Really helpful from the poster below about what a day looks like in terms of eating, is that the experience of others?

Also, fluid intake, does it surpress that or do you want to drink more water? Do you have to remember to drink?

What about energy levels? Some of the research I read says it gives you a boost? I hope so.

HansHolbein · 17/10/2024 11:46

Really motivating hearing everyone’s experiences. I’m so happy for you all.

I haven’t had any bloating yet, sorry.

I thought I would update W1D2

I woke up yesterday after my first injection the night before and it was so strange. I slept really well. No hunger or thoughts about food. Usually I would wake up ravenous.

I had 3 ryvita, homous, 1 large tomato, and a banana for lunch. I had chickpea curry for dinner. Both of these portions were much smaller than what I would usually have. Usually 3/4 of my plate would be rice 😬

I was not hungry for dinner but ate it anyway. I also drank about 2L of water during the day.. which meant I needed a wee a lot! My only obvious side effect was burping, but it wasn’t constant or unpleasant.

I woke up this morning after a really bad sleep. I don’t know if it related.

I felt a bit shaky so I have just had a 2 egg omelette, some cheese, 1 large tomato and a handful of spinach. Usually I would have 4 eggs and loads of cheese. I just didn’t want to eat that much. What was strange about this was I really didn’t want to eat it. I did it because I should do it. I had the plate in front of me and was staring at it for a while. Very odd. Felt a bit sick at the thought of eating it.

This medication has stopped my hunger dead. I really wasn’t bothered about that food. For caring about food for so long, this is a very surreal experience for me. I’m not complaining of course!

HansHolbein · 17/10/2024 11:58

@Flumpaphone How exciting! Welcome!

I’m only W1D2 (Week 1 Day 2) so I’m a complete beginner myself but I totally understand the apprehension. I was exactly the same. It’s a huge decision and this is a serious drug. But we kind of have to do this, we don’t have a choice really. If that makes sense..

Side effects - this is a starting dose, to get our bodies ready for the bigger doses. This means that side effects should be minimal. From all the hundreds of experiences I have read, the headaches and nausea could be down to not eating enough (which can make us feel sick!) and headaches from lack of water.

Under eating - this is only D2 for me so someone with more experience will come along to advise but you just have to make sure you ARE eating enough. For me the drug has killed my appetite so I have made sure I have eaten. The drug will hopefully make you want to have a lesser portion, so just make you eat regularly. What do you usually eat in a day? Can you eat that but less of it?

Fluid - it hasn’t suppressed my thirst. I will admit that I don’t usually drink that much but I easily drank 2L yesterday throughout the day.

Energy levels - I’m only a couple of days in so I can’t really advise. What I will say is that before this because of all the shit I was eating in large amounts, that was probably why I felt so tired and unmotivated all the time. I’m sure that by eating less food, and better food, this will increase my energy levels.

I was very nervous to inject the first time. It’s so alien! I really didn’t want to do it. I was shaking a bit and my hand was sweaty! But it went in fine and I didn’t feel it. I spent ages reading the leaflets. Once it was quiet in the evening and I had eaten dinner and had a bath, I did it. I’m so glad I took this first step.

Please take what I have said lightly as I am a total beginner and everyone is different but it really has been fine so far. Wishing you the very best of luck. Stick around so that we can all support each other ☕️

butteredparsnip · 17/10/2024 12:24

Great losses everyone! I did 3rd jab yesterday and have been hit by constant sulphur burps this morning, so grim! Does anyone have any supplements /meds/advice on how to minimise these please?

butteredparsnip · 17/10/2024 12:27

Also would really recommend the For Goodness Shakes choc protein drinks, I’ve been mainly trying to eat normal food but if I can’t stomach it then sipping on one of these instead has helped me get some energy in!

HansHolbein · 17/10/2024 12:28

@butteredparsnip Sorry about the burps! I read that peppermint tea helps!

My fluid intake has gone up massively where I am actively feeling thirsty and will drink. I think before I thought I was hungry so would eat rather than drink, whereas now the appetite is suppressed I’m actually experiencing thirst! Energy levels wise considering how much fewer calories I’m eating I feel WAY more energised!

Mummy20213x0 · 17/10/2024 12:39

First jab done last night! Got in from an insane gym class, had an electrolyte drink, and then took it about 7:30pm and we ate around 8:30pm (should have been sooner but the toddler would not go to sleep). Had such anxiety about doing it (I cried) and afterwards I was like “what have I done? How has it come to this?” But DH calmed me down and reminded me why I’ve chosen to do this, how I’ve thought about it for months and done all the research, all the years of him hugging me while I cried over my weight, hating how I look, or a comment someone made about me, how upset and demoralised I get when I manage to lose weight only to gain it back and more…

I’ve felt largely ok after 1st dose for Day 1. For tea last night after jab we had chicken, veg and wholemeal rice, usual meal for us but I was too nervous to eat my usual portion size in case it gave me any ill effects, so stuck to a half size and as the evening went on I began to get a wave of queasiness every now and then, but nothing drastic. Same today. I wouldn’t say I've noticed any appetite suppression at all. And I am constantly thinking about food - not in a “when I next eat/snack/craving this” way like usual, but in a “I know I have to eat/should I eat this/will it make me feel sick/am I hungry/waiting to not feel hungry” way!

Hoping this is all the side effects I’ll get and hopefully will start to see some of the effects soon.
