First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

I've just done my second weigh-in. Only a pound down (5 in total). Bit disheartened, but having read this week about 2.5 being a 'primer' dose, I feel a bit better. My side effects are either really tired, or waking up in the night. Also feel the cold A LOT more. On the HUGE plus side, my suppression has lasted the full week this time.

Mine has just arrived, having a read of the instructions before DH gets home to inject (he has lots of experience after blood thinners for 2 csections)

I’m really nervous!

I had two C- Sections and my DH is squeamish so I had to inject myself each time (I remember that it stung quite a bit and caused quite big bruises).

I gave myself the first MJ injection and it was a much finer needle, it didn’t sting and I didn’t bruise at all.

If you can inject blood thinner, this is much easier and you won’t have a problem at all. I also injected into my thigh as I thought it would be easier.

On W1D6 and definitely feel the return of the hunger today. Very interesting thoughts in my head wondering if this hunger is the truth (ie. My body needs more food) or whether the smaller meals I was having when my hunger was suppressed is the truth (ie this is the volume I should be eating).
It's confusing whether to "give in" to the hunger and fuel my body or to try and replicate the smaller volumes I had earlier in the week.

Edited

Hmmm - that’s a conundrum! I guess the trick is to go with a sensible calorie intake for your height whatever that is for you. When we are feeling strong suppression we are probably eating a lot less than is healthy even for a calorie controlled diet. So your strongest days are probably more like a fast which you shouldn’t really be doing long term every day. Those are my thoughts ?

Me too - so tired and waking up a lot !

Tiree1965 · 16/10/2024 19:13

I'm day 6 of week 1 and can start to feel the suppression wearing off now. Hopefully I can get through tomorrow without doing too much damage.

Mounjarjar · 16/10/2024 19:45

I did it! (Well, dh did!). Miles better than the pesky blood thinners!

I just did my end of week 1 weigh in and my 2nd jab at the same time and I've lost 6lbs in the first week. I'm over the moon. Now I just need to be realistic that it's more likely to be 1lb ish next week. How do you all deal with small losses without throwing in the towel or getting upset because I think that'll be my risk. On any diet my week 2 losses have been small so I know I need to temper my expectations for next week. However for now, I am so happy with 6lbs and I feel so much better already.

DandelionPockets · 16/10/2024 21:01

End of week two and down another 4lbs. Total of 9lbs and feeling good.

SW 198lbs
CW 189lbs
GW 147lbs

My GP actually called me today as they'd received the notification from Asda. Was not expecting it! They just asked me if I knew how to take it and what side effects I was getting. Anyone else had this?

MustLoveCats · 16/10/2024 21:07

Also has anyone got any tips for constipation.

Sorry TMI

Week 1 day 5 for me

HansHolbein · 16/10/2024 21:16

@Midlifecrisisxamillion Well done you! I’m sure this has given you a real boost!

@DandelionPockets Super, well done! I would love to see that kind of result. Never happens for me! I am also with Asda. I only received my pen yesterday; maybe they will call me too?

Yes me this evening.... have had no real side affects but not feeling great after dinner. I think I know why though. I haven't had enough water today and dinner was a bit rich

letshavetea · 16/10/2024 22:07

@MustLoveCats - re the nausea and constipation. For both I’ve found the solution to be a lot (I mean a lot!) of water. I’m constantly drinking. For the constipation I have changed my diet to have a lot of fibre (plus protein) at each meal. Lots of veg/salad and if I have carbs they have to be high fibre (eg brown rice). I’ve resorted to googling the highest fibre fruits, veg and carbs and eat those. I also walk 7,000 to 10,000 steps a day. Things are much better now!

Week 1 day 5 for me

I sorted out my not too bad constipation a few weeks ago by eating a few prunes with my breakfast. I've just kept it up while using MJ also 1st week day 5 and haven't had any problems (yet???)

MustLoveCats · 16/10/2024 22:14

@NearlyNewHip
@letshavetea

Thank you both for replying, I haven't eaten that much fruit/veg as I usually do so will increase it from tomorrow, I am drinking more water than usual as I am thirsty all the time but def don't think it's enough.

RunSlowTalkFast · 16/10/2024 11:20

Week 1 - no suppression, no bad side effects.

Week 2 (day 6 now) - no suppression but diarrhoea, headaches and nausea!!

What fun! Meant to be taking my 3rd jab tomorrow but I'm a bit scared!

I think you are a week ahead of me, I am on week 2 now. I also have had zero suppression just a bit of a fuller feeling after eating. We got to keep pushing on! I am trying my best to plod on logging till I get a higer dose but it’s so hard to keep to my target. I won’t be up to full dose till Jan and concerned I will have gained a bit more by then.

Doghairismyglitter · 16/10/2024 23:11

Whilst I am hating the side effects of week 2 (after such a good week 1) I did notice today I’ve had to (ungainly) yank my tights up a fair few times and my skirt was looser and slipping down my waist slightly. I didn’t lose a great deal on week one (4 lbs) but I am so so much less bloated.

Maggi85 · 17/10/2024 07:17

3rd dose for me today. Weighed in lost 3lb this week so 8lb in total over 2 weeks. No real side effects except headache, suppression has worn off totally so ready for my next jab.

envbeckyc · 17/10/2024 07:39

So today is second injection day and I have just weighed myself….

I have lost 5.4lbs this week…. Which I am genuinely surprised and incredibly grateful for!

I really can’t believe it!

rockingbird · 17/10/2024 07:48

That's amazing @envbeckyc well done, you must be thrilled!!

PickleSarnie · 17/10/2024 07:52

First weigh in today. Technically 9 days since last weigh in because went from when I ordered as opposed to when it arrived and injected. 9lbs down!

SW: 17st 10lb
CW: 17st 1lb
GW: 11st 12lb

Still 5 stone to go so there's a lonnnnnng way to go but feel a bit more positive about it actually happening this time.

I took my 2nd dose a day early because was supposed to have a long day in London today but that got cancelled. No real side effects other than a bit of a headache. No significant suppression either but I can only eat small portions of dinner before I get really full so that's really helping but a lot of it has been willpower because im spending so much on this that i dont want it to be money wasted!.

envbeckyc · 17/10/2024 07:55

rockingbird · 17/10/2024 07:48

I can’t believe it!

I checked three times that the scales were correct!!!!!

I don’t expect weight loss like this every week, and will be happy with a 1lb - 2lb loss per week, but this boost at the start was a complete surprise.

HansHolbein · 17/10/2024 08:03

Well done everyone on your losses!
