First thread is full and I couldn’t see a new one to continue it so thought I’d make it so we can all carry on chatting.

Just started this on Sunday- having just heard of it on Mumsnet in the middle of last week. So excited I might have a BMI less than 37 at some point!
I tried saxenda and nausea stopped me continuing early last year.
Didn't know this better one had come out, and am loving the 'meh' attitude I have to food these last couple of days. I'm.just not bothered by it! Seems like blooming miracle!

EricTheGardener · 16/10/2024 00:59

I'm on the 5th day of my second week and have been incredibly lucky not to have any side effects so far, though it feels like tempting fate to write that. I've also lost 8lbs in total so far – including another 3lbs so far this week – which is just nuts seeing as I've been on a healthy eating kick for a year prior to this and only lost about 1.5 stone in total the whole year.

What I think is about to derail me is that I take Utrogestan (the progesterone part of HRT) and because I'm still having periods, I take 2 x tablets daily for 12 days per month (rather than 1 x daily all the time, which is what you do once you stop having periods).

I'm about to start taking it tonight, and during this 12-day period I tend to get really bloated and can put on up to 3 or 4 lbs, it's crazy. I do usually lose it again afterwards but I know it's going to put me on a real downer if this still happens every month while I'm on MJ. Anyone else have any similar issues with HRT?

Amazing to hear you aren't having side effects. I'm sorry but I don't have an answer to your HRT question, but wanted to ask if you would you mind sharing what you eat on an average day? Just curious because I am on day 4 of week 1 and I feel terrified of eating anything that might not be healthy in case I get a bad side effect. For example, I really wanted a little madeleine today but I resisted because I didn't want to be sick or get an upset stomach.

Morning all,
I don’t know if it’s the MJ or not but it does seem to be an unfortunate coincidence-My sleep is awful! Waking a lot and then finding hard to get back to sleep. Menopause means I’m often up between 2-3 times in the night (hot flushes? Don’t know but then need the loo) this has been worse with large amounts of water I’m consuming ! Anyway got up 4 x last night and hardly slept in between - feel
ragged ! Can’t take oestrogen as I’ve had breast cancer ! Although mine wasn’t hormone related and they are considering it. Can you take MJ and HRT? Anyone else not sleeping well - I’m like a jealous mum who’s friends have babies sleeping through the night when I hear how well some of you are sleeping 😂 It’s not a great side effect but considering the end game I’m going to try and mitigate the consequences just not quite sure how - Zen meditation maybe 🤣🤪

WafflingDreamer · 16/10/2024 07:26

My sleep has been dreadful for a while so I can't put that on MJ. I was really bloated over the weekend and quite crampy, felt like there was a rock in my stomach. I've also been really cold at times although not sure if that's MJ or the change in the weather. It also seems to have knocked my immunity a bit I've had two little colds the last week. I'm supposed to have my flu jab today but I'm a bit snotty so think I'll give it a miss.

I didnt think of this!! Mentioned that I have terrible bloating, to the point of feeling really uncomfortable as if it's maybe trapped wind.... I started MJ while using my Utrogestan, took the last 2 last night. I weigh daily and still lost a bit each morning (first week). But my bloat belly could really be anything....New foods, MJ, Utrogestan (although have been on HRT for 3 months, haven't had this before) or maybe I'm too full and have just forgotten what it feels like after years of Slimming World......😂

Iwouldratherbesinging · 16/10/2024 07:48

Just had my second 2nd jab and first week weigh-in. 4lbs off, not the huge amounts that some people lose but I’m really happy with that, onwards and upwards!

That's a great loss!!! I can't remember who or on what MJ thread but someone suggested thinking of your loss in terms of 2l bottles of pop. You've lost 2!!!!!

That was me last week, but I gave my head a shake, and thought it was better than nowt! I've got my second weigh in today.

Fizzleaway · 16/10/2024 08:57

Haven’t woke up hungry today for a change but I’m moving my injection forward a day so will be injecting tomorrow instead of Friday night to get Max suppression over weekends.

first weigh day Saturday.

I feel like I just want 3 months to go by to start seeing some results. Super impatient!

Protein yog & some fruit today I think for breakfast

Homeiswherethedogis · 16/10/2024 09:23

@Fizzleaway I'm impatient as well, the struggle for me will be to maintain focus if the scales don't move as quickly as I hope.

Day 4 and I've got an upset stomach. Putting it down to eating more yesterday (the quavers and Mr kipling slice). Learnt my lesson but wish it had made itself known before I was halfway to work

HansHolbein · 16/10/2024 09:36

@Iwouldratherbesinging Great loss for your first week! Well done you. How are you feeling?

@Fizzleaway Sounds sensible actually to move the day. I’ve been reading that the suppression tails off towards the end of the week so I may end up moving mine too in the future. I’ve also read that once the medication builds up in our system then that shouldn’t happen 🤷‍♀️ we’ll see.

Day 1 for me. Usually I would wake up with a rumbly tummy and I haven’t had that yet! Been burping a lot too. As I am not hungry I won’t eat. Going to have a cup of tea instead..

oa81 · 16/10/2024 09:37

I’m due to take my next jab tomorrow, however I have been prescribed antibiotics. I’ve just googled it and apparently clarithromycin and Mounjaro together can cause low blood sugars 🙈 going to seek some advice from medexpress about it as I don’t want to halt my weight loss

rockingbird · 16/10/2024 10:13

So I bit the bullet and ordered Monday.. using someone's code on the thread. This morning I've had an email to say they are experiencing delays ordering due to an increased demand. 😫 taken my money but that's about it.!

Mounjarjar · 16/10/2024 10:16

I am waiting by the front door for my first order!! Am I best to inject at night or asap?

letshavetea · 16/10/2024 10:25

I inject at night just before going to bed. I’d read that this is better for any early symptoms. Not sure if this is true though!

HansHolbein · 16/10/2024 10:26

@Mounjarjar How exciting! I took my first dose last night at around 9pm. I slept well. Usually I would have a rumbly tummy this morning but nothing. I am burping quite a bit though..

Witchlite · 16/10/2024 10:38

Well, today is day 1 of week 1. I did the jab last night.

recording my stats here as I won’t admit to them in real life.😖 far too embarrassed.

weight 201.6lbs
BMI 35.6
waist 41”
thigh 27”

I’ve ordered some liquid meals from the fast800 range, in case I have a problem getting reasonable nutrients by real food (to be used in emergencies)and have multi vitamins and hair/nails/skin supplements.

This needs to work! Please 🤞🏻

HansHolbein · 16/10/2024 10:40

@Witchlite I’m also D1W1! Rooting for you!

Witchlite · 16/10/2024 10:47

@HansHolbein thanks - it was reading your post last night that made me switch to injecting last night. I was going to do it today, but when I read it (at 11:30ish) I decided to just get it done!

I’ve spend 2 weeks preparing - speaking with my GP (very supportive of this), reading up, getting supplies etc - generally I’m a preparer. Totally out of character to act like this. Your post inspired me 🙂

recklessgran · 16/10/2024 10:57

@rockingbird was that with Medexpress by any chance? I think I may be in the same boat as you but without the apologetic e-mail .
I'm really annoyed as I just want to get on with it now I've made the decision.

Gr3atEscape · 16/10/2024 11:03

On W1D6 and definitely feel the return of the hunger today. Very interesting thoughts in my head wondering if this hunger is the truth (ie. My body needs more food) or whether the smaller meals I was having when my hunger was suppressed is the truth (ie this is the volume I should be eating).
It's confusing whether to "give in" to the hunger and fuel my body or to try and replicate the smaller volumes I had earlier in the week.

Yes! MedExpress - I feel the same. I debated for too long then purchased, sent the photo etc now just pending 😫

recklessgran · 16/10/2024 11:11

Yeah, same here. I know I'm being impatient but I wish I'd gone on the High strret now! Will keep in touch and let you know if I hear anything.

RunSlowTalkFast · 16/10/2024 11:20

Week 1 - no suppression, no bad side effects.

Week 2 (day 6 now) - no suppression but diarrhoea, headaches and nausea!!

What fun! Meant to be taking my 3rd jab tomorrow but I'm a bit scared!
