I do eat meat but still struggle to get enough protein. I logged food with Zoe earlier this year and I never met their protein targets.

I do eat protein at every meal - basically I eat veggies, fruit and protein.

I've got a new found respect and enjoyment for cottage cheese!! My breakfast today was chopped tomato, jalapenos, olives mixed into cottage cheese. Its really nice and cottage cheese is high in protein. I also like chopped boiled egg (or peached egg) & cottage cheese with a bit of pepper sauce.

Cottage cheese is good and also hummus in little pots, you can get trios of different flavoured ones to have on e.g. oatcakes.

1.5lbs down in two weeks 😒
It's so disheartening, especially because I have felt so nauseous since going up to 3.5mg last week.
22lbs in 7 weeks. I know that's something to be happy about but these last 2 weeks have been a slog.
I knew it would slow down, and I know losing 1 to 2lbs a week is a healthy way of losing, but I can't help but feel frustrated.
I've got so far to go, need to lose at least another 4 stone.

I'm 4 months in and have been plateauing for a month now. I have been drinking a bit more alcohol (on holiday etc) so that won't help.

Most of us on this thread are in for a long haul & we all need to remember weight loss isn't linear. Now all my holidays/trips are over for the year I'm going to focus back on not drinking booze and watching those calories.

Still there are many NSV even in a plateau & I focus on them. I seem to have lost a LOT of back fat! I wore some dresses on recent holiday that were fitting a bit looser in the front but have lots of room in the back that wasn't there before.

For me the MJ has moved from "excitement and all consuming" to being a "new normal" and I do like being here.

Its a marathon not a sprint. Settle in, be kind to yourself, and rememebr this is working!

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/10/2024 12:31

I do love hummous and sugar snaps.

RobinEllacotStrike · 24/10/2024 12:36

last night I really wanted something sweet so I had a pomegrante - I'm quite obsessed by them.

First I had to get all the jewels out of the fruit & into a bowl - and I was rewarded with the most delicious pomegrante I ever had - proper sweet & tasty flavour explosions. Then comes the chewy fiber bits which need chewing - so not nice, but excellent fibre.

Pomegrantes are fruits of 3 parts - prep/explosion/chew & I love them. I also feel very decadent eating them - like a roman goddess 😁

Those of you who have been doing this a while can I ask how you decide whether to move up a pen strength or stay where you are?

I'm currently on my second 7.5mg pen, and have just received my next pen which is also 7.5mg. At the moment I am having basically no side effects and feeling suppression all week, probably a bit too much suppression in the first couple of days after injecting. I would only move up to 10mg if I started to consistently not feel the suppression and struggled to resist eating more or snacking.

Thanks that's really helpful. Did you move up quickly to 7.5mg or have you stayed on each strength until it started to wear off?

SilenceInside · 24/10/2024 13:55

I did 2.5mg for 4 weeks, not much in terms of side effects really, but plenty of suppression. Then started a 5mg pen mainly because that was the schedule, and about half way through had a couple of days of awful D&V that unnerved me a little. I had already ordered a 7.5mg pen already though, so when I started that pen I actually stuck with 5mg by counting clicks. Then I did two interim doses of 6 ish to work my way up to 7.5mg and then did the last dose as a full 7.5mg.

Arguably I didn't need to move up to 5mg, because the 2.5mg was working well but I was happy to stick to the usual dosage schedule. I would have continued on to 7.5mg directly if I hadn't had the one instance of proper side effects. Now I want to stick with this as it's working well for me and I don't see the need to move up whilst that's the case.

Darlinghag · 24/10/2024 15:19

Ive moved up with each pen, only because i was not getting much effects after about two weeks of each pen, and the effects i did get were lasting shorter time periods.

i do however use bonus doses and bridge in between - so my 5mg pen i did 4 weeks of it - used to bonus dose to get 5.5mg (there was enough in my pen!) and then when starting my 7.5mg pen, i only took 6.25mg, just because i try to minimise big jumps in dosage so i dont get too ill!

i’ll be going to 7.5mg next dose and as 6.25mg seems to be doing good i hope to stay there for awhile too!

I think this is great advice. I also follow a reddit sub which is quite interesting - it's about people taking mounjaro or 'zepbound' as it is called in the US, longer term rather than just for losing weight..

Most of them are 'intuitive eating' rather than 'dieting' as well which is a bit like what I do too. www.reddit.com/r/antidietglp1/

This is what my MJ parcel looked like when it came through the door earlier. While it did say on the delivery label it came from Simple Online Pharmacy this is the only place it said it.

This is what the contents of the parcel looked like. The small white box are the needles.

Hey all just checking in

I'll be moving up to 5mg tomorrow- I actually can't wait if that is such a thing. 2.5 has done little for me the last few weeks and I'm getting a bit impatient (silly but true). I've been away with the kids to the seaside this week so it's been an unusual and much more tempting week food wise.

Really hoping I don't suffer side effects with the 5mg but will see how I go. Also realised that if my plan is to move up every 4 weeks that will also coincide with my period starting. Best laid plans and all that. I have a quiet weekend planned though so hoping I can kick on to 5mg tomorrow and ride any side effect waves.

I must say this thread is so friendly & supportive, thanks to everyone for sharing their experiences Flowers

It's funny how we can get quite into things like fruit, I'm the same. I've been craving things like kiwi fruit and raspberries whereas things like chocolate taste a bit too sweet and cloying now.

Snozzlemaid · 24/10/2024 19:32

Yes, fresh fruit is far more appealing than chocolate now.
What has happened to me 😂

KittensUnderTheDuvet · 24/10/2024 20:57

alltablenochairs · 23/10/2024 23:02

I don't count calories. Partly because it's been the trigger in the (long time) past for some risky behaviours. Mainly because I'm a wheelchair user with very little ability to walk and if I went purely by calories I should officially be eating well below 1000 calories a day. Instead I'm just eating within reason. MJ seems to have absolutely scotched my appetite for anything sweet. My breakfast tomorrow morning will be tonight's tomato pasta leftovers.

@KittensUnderTheDuvet Instead of a traditional swimsuit, would something like a legsuit be better for you? I like to go swimming with my youngest and I'm hoisted into the pool. It's undignified enough as with everyone stopping to have a good gawp. I'd rather they weren't all staring at my exposed backside as well.

I was due to go up to 5mg next week but as I've got a busy week planned I did this a week early using the bonus dose. I think this was a VERY good idea. The combination of MJ and no gallbladder (surgery 6 months ago. IYKYK) has been somewhat interesting.

I've tried legsuits but ended up buying a traditional swimsuit instead, as it looked (slightly) better on me. My thighs are definitely the worst part of my body, and anything resembling shorts looks dreadful on me. It’s getting quite chilly now anyway, so I’ve got a bit of time before next year to work on losing some weight.

I’m tempted to try winter swimming, but I’d prefer a full-length wetsuit for that, which seems hard to find in proper plus sizes (I’m a 20/22 on top and a 24 on the bottom). I used to scuba dive and even back then, I had to buy the largest sizes available, despite being much smaller at the time.

Good on you for taking your DC swimming! I don’t think needing help to get into the water is undignified at all. I love swimming because, unlike on land, your weight doesn’t matter. For once, my much fitter DH struggles to keep up with me, rather than the other way around!

It’s interesting how Mounjaro seems to put people off sugary foods. I’m not quite there yet, but I’ve managed to avoid sweets entirely during my first week on MJ. I also limit things like sweetened Greek yoghurt or fruit – sticking to savoury foods completely is usually easier for me when I’m trying to lose weight.

I’m due for my second injection tomorrow, but despite being on day 6 of my first week, I still had pretty good appetite suppression today. I’m trying to make more of an effort with cooking, so that what I do eat is really enjoyable. Tonight, we had grilled octopus with garlic and chilli butter, green beans, a tomato salad, and tzatziki dip. I’ve also bought some lovely teas to have instead of dessert. I’m quite pleased so far – it doesn’t feel like I’m missing out at all.

alltablenochairs · 24/10/2024 21:09

Silly question but would a men's wetsuit fit any better? Disclaimer- I've never actually worn one in my life though.
When you're hoisted, most hoist slings are cut out around the bottom area for toiletting/hygiene/access purposes. Being completely TMI here but your ar$e is then on show and when its as substsntial as mine that's a lot to be looking at. Hence the legsuit as it provides much better coverage.

I actually make my own Greek yoghurt because that way I find it's not got any of the thickeners in that some yoghurt does. In short, make or buy a batch of yoghurt then strain it through a double layer cheesecloth for 24 hours. If you're making another batch of yoghurt then save and freeze the acid whey as it makes a great starter for the next batch. Just don't do what I did which was forget I had a batch straining in the fridge. I now have something not dissimilar to a soft cheese. Still absolutely fabulous though.

KayeEyeEssEss · 24/10/2024 23:16

Checking in! Phew, with today’s weigh in I’m back under 100kg, and thankfully have said goodbye to last week’s gain (2.2kg) plus another 100g. It seems the slight dose increase to 6mg was a good decision, as it was much easier to stay on track this week. At ten weeks, ’m listening to hunger cues to guide what I’m eating and I think I’ve found some equilibrium. I’m glad to put calorie counting aside with some confidence that I’m maintaining a deficit while meeting my nutritional needs.

I’ve been making batches of protein balls and chia pudding on the weekends so I have small nourishing portions to eat through the week (if my kids don’t get through them first).

Noticing some loose waistbands - I might need to dig out my smaller sized clothes stash!

SW - 6 August - 107 kg / 16 st 11.9 lb / 235 lb - BMI 39.9
CW - 99.7 kg / 15 st 9.8 lb / 219.8 lb - BMI 37.1

Hope everyone has had a good week, and to those who haven’t, take heart and remember that you’re doing the work to improve your health and while it might take time and patience, you’ve got this.

UserNameOfShame · 25/10/2024 07:18

New NSV - forgot to take my bathrobe into the shower, so had to wrap a towel round me instead. It doesn't just meet in the middle, it actually wraps around and protects my modesty!

Timetofindme · 25/10/2024 07:43

@KittensUnderTheDuvet My 2 recommendations would be lomo prime (wide range of sizes - way outside the 'standard' range). Lots of swimmers i know wear them.

Or triwetsuithire. You send them your measurements and they send you a suit (for hire but you can buy). You can hire for a specific event or a season. I hired from them for my first winter season to see if I needed a suit but ended up preferring swimming in a costume.

Let us know how you get on if you do try it, I absolutely love it!

NewoIkkin · 25/10/2024 09:03

Weigh-in day for me and I’m down 4.5lbs! I know it’s mostly water weight as I ate very low-carb this week compared to the week before (lots of pasta and wine), but I’m still very pleased. Hit some great milestones this week:

  • Under 13 stone
  • Into the 170s
  • Lost 55lbs / 25kg / 4 stone

New goal is to be in the “overweight” category by Christmas!

VelociraptorsVelociRapping · 25/10/2024 09:43

Great milestones @NewoIkkin. Well done!

Weigh-in for me today. 3lb down this week, bringing my total loss on MJ since April to 4st 11lb and my total loss since my heaviest in early 2022 to 5st 10lb.

I am well and truly experiencing the 'paper towel effect' and have had a lot of comments. They are all very kind and complimentary but there is a noticeable age and gender gap in terms of what people find acceptable to say! Men at work are very careful to say that I am looking 'well' or 'healthy'. Women my age and younger explicitly mention the weight loss but don't enquire further. Women a little older than me seem to feel perfectly comfortable asking me exactly how much I have lost and exactly how I have done it. I have found that (truthfully) telling them that I am on the 'divorce diet' tends to shut them up!

Hi all, checking in!

Start date: 02/05/2024
SW: 19st 4.2lb
CW: 16st 10.2lb

Weight Management services have booked me a review for 5th November and I'm nervous now! Logically I know I shouldn't worry. I've lost 13% of my body weight in 6 months and the target is 5%.

I do try and avoid reading how quickly everyone else is losing weight as it can be a bit disheartening! X

SilenceInside · 25/10/2024 09:58

@NewoIkkin , @VelociraptorsVelociRapping and @RMNofTikTok well done on the continuing losses.

My last October weigh-in, seems crazy that it's already been 16 weeks. Just done dose 4 from my current 7.5mg pen and will be sticking to 7.5mg for the next pen.

Current stats:
SW: 139kg (21st 12 lbs)
CW: 109.6kg (17st 3 lbs)
GW: 100kg (15st 11lbs) third interim goal.

Another 2lbs ish gone this week for a total of 4st 9lbs. I'm getting close to getting under 17 stone which would put me back into territory that I haven't been for years and years. I would love to make my next interim goal by Christmas, we'll see!

RobinEllacotStrike · 25/10/2024 10:31

as larger women we have built in bioprene wetsuits. Our fat gives us an advantage in cold water - we are designed for this. It is our superpower.

https://meandthewater.ie/2021/05/07/is-there-really-such-thing-as-bioprene/

A massive benefit of year round swimming is getting cold, and wetsuits interfer with that. More cold = more endorphins. Plus feeling the sea on every part of your skin is exhilirating.

I did't think I could do it - but my friend told me "you just have to decide to do it and then do it" and I thought "I can do that". And then I did.

Rather than worry about wetsuits, if you focus on your post swim warm up routine you will really benefit. The going into cold water while your brain is going whoa WTF are you doing, triggering the flight or flight response, and then recovering from that quickly, is one of the huge benefits of going into cold water.

Is there really such thing as 'bioprene'? - Me and the Water | Swim Ireland

Although we all know that excess fat isn’t great for optimal health, is it actually better for open water swimmers to have a higher percentage of body fat? Could a few extra pounds plump up your chances of success?

https://meandthewater.ie/2021/05/07/is-there-really-such-thing-as-bioprene
