I haven't been on the threads for a little while now as I've just been plodding along. Much more slowly now, have lost 8lb over the last two months. So about a pound a week.

I'm now 3lb off being a healthy weight (well I thought I was 163cm but actually the doctors have me as 161cm, anyway whatever) and back to the weight I was for years before I started fashion weight. I'm therefore now tapering my doses down.

I was wondering if anyone else is doing this at the moment? I'm aware we all started in different places and we all have different goals, but I thought it looked like there are others getting to this zone?

Anyway, very long post but basically wondering if others are tapering down, how are you finding it?

I never got higher than 5mg and am back down to 2.5mg now but I feel like I'm pretty hungry. I don't think I'm over eating because I am still slowwwwly losing weight but it's hard to tell if it's just that I'm comparatively hungry Vs not having been really hungry for months or if it's going to be a bit rough stopping the medication.

VioletsHeart · 26/10/2024 07:42

Morning @Ineffable23 sounds like you’re doing fabulously.
I’m 2-4lbs depending on the day away from healthy weight range … and in another stall. Completely relaxed about this one though. I’m confident I’ll be moving on again in time.
I’m really enjoying being this size having not been for so long. I set a goal range at the start including a hardline no lower than x number. At the moment I have around a stone to go until the top of that range.
Once I am at a place where I’m happy at some point in my range I will move into The Maintenance Phase which I think for me will be a big challenge. I’ve historically never met goal just hit a plateau and then quickly risen again.

My plan for maintenance is to stay on for several months (up to a year?) then taper. Ideally I would like to relax my body into a new lower set point. We shall see if that’s possible.

End of week 19 weigh in:

SW 13st 7lb BMI 36.9
CW 10st 10lb BMI 29.3

Total loss 2st 11lb (39lbs) - 20.6% of my body weight!

I'm 3lbs away from my original target that seemed unreachable, so I've now changed my target to 10st, which will still only have my BMI as 27 but I feel that's a sustainable target.

I'm on a 7.5 pen but been using the bonus dose to make it up to 10 as I decided too late that I wanted to increase. Got a 10mg pen ready for next month, then I guess it's time to look at reducing - can't believe how quickly this has all gone!

daffodilandtulip · 26/10/2024 10:25

@Ineffable23 I'm about a month away from this but I'm wondering/worrying the same. I've lost weight before, but never maintained. I don't want to go back to all the sugar crashes and feeling shaky if I'm not eating!

daffodilandtulip · 26/10/2024 10:28

Callmejudith · 24/10/2024 09:16

I think my weight loss must be super noticeable now because I am getting comments almost every day. I had my first "are you on MJ?" today and of course I just had to laugh it off!

I think I would die if anyone did ask me about it but I haven't had a single comment ... I'm like can't you all seeeeee?!

In order you to start wearing a belt on all your trousers - it makes a massive difference! 😂

daffodilandtulip · 26/10/2024 10:41

Haha maybe I need to stop wearing leggings for work 🤣

TheShellBeach · 26/10/2024 10:51

I've got such a lovely jumper which I've only worn twice.

It's much too big for me now.

daffodilandtulip · 26/10/2024 12:12

Oh I keep doing this @TheShellBeach - so frustrating, if it wasn't for such a good reason! I also keep missing old clothes that I've kept, thinking they're still too small, then trying them on and they hang off me.

AutumnStorms11 · 26/10/2024 18:21

I put on my new in June jeans size 14 after wearing leggings for a few weeks and they are looking baggy in the hips n thighs. I think although I’ve lost little weight this last month however I’ve been running far more now & definitely toning up more than I’d realised which is nice. I too am worried about coming off this. But I’ve got enough to last me until Feb so I’m hoping with the spring coming it’s easier to switch back to salads again. But I’m very realistic that I was insulin resistant before this so no idea if I can control that by staying on my current protein, fasting and exercising daily plan.

Yes exactly, I don't miss that at all. I lost a stone and a bit last year and maintained that for about 8 months before a friend started on Mounjaro and I figured I would see if it could help me restart the downwards trajectory.

So I know it must be possible, but I also know that all it takes is for me to stop getting on the scales and maintenance can become a slow upwards slide.

But whenever I'm losing weight I always think "well, I just have to keep getting on the scales" and then I forget and then I get too worried about how bad the damage will be, and then I don't step on them for 6 months.

So I need a way where I compel myself to get on the scales. I don't know what that way is yet though!

Callmejudith · 27/10/2024 08:55

Has anyone come across any good books about managing insulin resistance?

OP posts:
Newme24 · 27/10/2024 09:10

Morning everyone. Not posted in a while as I've been hiding. Had a bad couple of weeks with being out & parties & was cross at myself that I wasn't losing anything. But finally stepped on the scales this morning and I've lost another 2lbs and I've just come on my period so I'm so pleased with that. I've gone up to 10mg. I'm really hoping 10 is the magic number. I'm definitely feeling more satisfied again like when I first started in June. So I'm now a couple of pounds away from 3 stone and I'm praying I make it by next week 🙏 because I'm really hoping to be 11st 7 for Christmas.

Well done to all of you! I love how a little blip on this journey and I still feel I can carry on. Not like other diets where it's all or nothing. Trying to stay positive and focus on my next goal.

SW 15st 6
CW 12st 8

Love reading the posts on this thread. everyone is doing so well. We got this 💪🏻

Megarea · 27/10/2024 09:21

Woo-hoo! Finally hit 3 stone loss this morning after nearly getting there for a couple of weeks with the same couple of pounds gained and lost.

@Callmejudith I think some of the PCOS focused stuff I've read has definitely touched on eating to try to control/reduce insulin resistance. I'll see if I can remember some titles.

Callmejudith · 27/10/2024 10:51

I’m tapering down. I can’t afford to do the maintenance dose so I’m back to 2.5 and have 4 more injections to go. I’m a bit scared but I am also determined and I need to remember that I don’t have the luxury of too many “cheat” meals as I’ll just gain it back. I am in a really really good gym routine and 3 meals a day zero snacks and I know if I can stick to that I’m good

OP posts:
Splendud · 27/10/2024 11:03

Another two pounds down this morning, so 39lbs in total - getting closer to the three stone loss mark since starting MJ (lost another half stone before). Also close to 40lbs lost on MJ and I am now just half a stone from the lowest weight I've been in the last ten years. I still have a lot to lose but this is the longest I've ever had sustained weight loss.

I travel a lot for work and this has always been an issue as hotel meals are frequently 'everything deep fried and with chips'' but I have started getting more confident to eat out on my own (so I have a wider choice) and also to ask for things that will work for me. This week, I asked for two starters instead of a main, and the staff were fine with it. I think the issues are in my head, really. I assume they will be difficult, whereas in fact, I think they're probably quite accustomed to adjusting meals for allergies and taking it in their stride. Feels like an NSV for me.

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/10/2024 11:24

@Callmejudith most of Michael Mosely's books are about controlling blood sugar so may be helpful. I am a huge fan of the fast80/5:2/Mediterranean diet which is how I've been eating throughout my MJ journey😁

Good luck with the tapering down. You've got this!

IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/10/2024 11:29

@Splendud excellent! Eating out alone can take a while to get used to but I actually love it now as I can read, listen to something or just people watch! 👍👍

An NSV for me today that actually reduced me to unexpected tears😁 Ages ago (probably 2 years!) I admired a friend's Levi's and ordered some as they were reduced on Amazon. Got the biggest size available but couldn't even get them up my thighs let alone over my hips😩
Tried them on this morning for shits and giggles and they ONLY BLOODY FIT!! 😱

(I'm also gonna put it out there that a random pair of size 16 cuffed denim trousers that I don't even remember buying not only do up, but are wearable!!)

Callmejudith · 27/10/2024 11:40

@IReallyNeedThisToWork love the Levi’s!

I’ve never actually tried 5:2 properly, I always gave up at about 11am on the 2 days. Might be easier now I’m used to less food

OP posts:
IReallyNeedThisToWork · 27/10/2024 12:23

@Callmejudith at the moment, I’m using those two days when suppression is strongest and find it easy to stick to the 800ish calories with fast800 recipes as they're assigned to be filling. You're not expected to starve yourself!

The rest of the week, I just eat a bit more of each meal or add I something extra like more protein etc

Well done all on loses. @Callmejudith it will be interesting to see how you get on with tapering and maintenance.

AutumnStorms11 · 27/10/2024 20:49

Well done @coffeeandteav

I’ve just redone my measurements as weight has slowed this month and I’ve lost 5inches off Bust /Weight / Hips each so 15”. Can’t believe I’ve lost that many inches no wonder my smaller leggings & jeans are looking baggy now. I’m still hoping to get to a BMI of 25 by end of November that’s my next goal need another 5lbs to get into the 25s. I’m in a very stressful period of my life at the moment with poorly elderly parents & a teenager with significant issues plus some other things and not having to worry about the overwhelming desire of emotional eating is saving me at the moment as MJ has killed that stress eating feeling

Dithercats · 27/10/2024 21:27

I gave stuck with MJ but not really posted as my loss has been so slow.
But now after almost 5 months my BMI is 25 and I have lost 35lbs.
I am up to 10mg but taken as a split dose 5mg twice a week.
My next order will be for 12.5mg and then onto maintenance hopefully 😊

Callmejudith · 28/10/2024 08:37

I have persuaded DH to do “dry November” with me. I think staying off booze will definitely help me with maintenance and less temptation to eat out too. December is already looking a bit crazy socially.

OP posts:
Callmejudith · 28/10/2024 08:39

@Ineffable23 im the same with the scales. Even now I just don’t want to weigh myself even though I know I’ve lost loads of inches. It’s going to be the only way though for me to maintain and not kid myself!
