Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

Where did you jab? Just getting desperate and wondering if it makes a difference. Been starving all evening after dinner this eve!

Same for me, I did my stomach. I’m sure food noise has increased! And I’ve been really busy at work which normally means I don’t think about it

Fizzleaway · 09/10/2024 08:45

These posts are really keeping me going everyone - so thanks for sharing. I’ve never joined a forum before but I’m finding the company and support very motivating 😊

Iv never done a forum for weight loss either and im hoping doing this adds another layer to keep going seeing how well everyone else is doing

I’m really struggling not that I want side effects but felt nothing, food noise hasn’t reduced at all, can’t stop bloody thinking about it, appetite has barely reduced and I’m not sure if I’ve even felt more hungry. Not looking hopeful for my first weigh in. I am on the 2.5mg which I was hoping to see an effect with

Iv read this a few times over different threads and the general theme seems to be that once it gets in your system more and possibly at the 5mg dose you will start to feel the suppression a bit more.

I start on sat, but I spoke to my doctor before ordering, and she said this medication has been used for about a decade for diabetes, and of course diabetes patients were not expecting weight loss. So those on the 2.5 didn’t experience it or experience any suppressant, It isn’t till you go up doses that it starts to impact. So a lot of the early weight losses are psyhcosomatic and lifestyle changes, At this stage the medication is just giving you a light helping hand at most, so don’t worry.

So week 1 weigh in complete

SW 73.4kg (BMI 30.2)
CW 72.2kg (BMI 29.7)
GW 62kg (BMI 25.5)

lost this week 1.2kg

I weigh on the boditrax machine at the gym and it says it’s 100% water weight. At least my glycogen stores are mostly depleted and I can start on my 41% body fat. I have put 62kg as a goal weight but I can’t imagine ever being at that weight! 60kg put me at a BMI of 24.7 but I think I’m going to focus more on how I look and feel rather than numbers.

I do feel far less bloated today which is a nice feeling. Going out for a walk with my partner and lunch today before injecting again tonight.

How has everyone’s partner reacted? I wasn’t going to tell mine (we live separately) but we have discussed MJ before as he knows I am unhappy with my ever increasing weight and my bingeing habit. I thought he’d be a bit like, why? But he was delighted! Said he loved me exactly as I am (I believe this, he’s very affectionate and loves my body) but he also very happy I am trying to make myself happier and more importantly, healthier. He lost his wife to cancer the year before I met him so he is quite twitchy about health. He is very proud of my bravery to try it so that is a win and another reason to work hard on developing better foot habits.

UpUpUpU · 09/10/2024 09:31

Is anybody else more suppressed in the morning? I’ve just made some Greek yogurt and protein powder for something in my stomach to take my supplements with and can only manage a couple of spoons? Last night though I was starving! I’m going to force a bit more in as I’m worried I’m eating too little in the day and too much in the late afternoon/early evening.

Need to drink more too!

Stomach, you? Not sure where to jab next!

Oh I did thy and was hoping stomach might make a diff! Good luck for your next jab!!

Just wondering how often everyone is weighing themselves? I've been doing it daily and saw a steady drop of 7kg (3rd injection 2.5mg today) but this morning, had 2kg appear on the scales again (although appetite suppression wasn't as good yesterday as it has been)! Still pleased with the 5kg (still 40kg to go)

My understanding is there is natural fluctuation with fluids digestion etc so more then once a week is not helpful.

Wow he sounds like a keeper. I wasn’t going to tell my husband but if he found out I know it would have caused a massive issue, same as if he hid something from me. He wasn’t happy and doesn’t agree with it but I told him I am doing it anyway, then he was saying he doesn’t think the whole lot went in anyway as criticised my technique 😮

PickleSarnie · 09/10/2024 09:55

@UpUpUpU well done on loss! My husband is supportive I guess but I don't think he's spent more than 5 minutes in his entire life thinking about his weight so he probably struggles to understand. He can eat, drink and sit sedentary as much as he wants and doesn't put on a pound. Whereas, I'm not sure there's been a single day in the last 35 years that I've not thought about mine. I try so hard not to drink and eat snacks but when he does, I give in to them too.

Even if/when I lose the 75lbs I need to lose, my BMI will still be higher than his. I drink less, exercise loads more than him, eat much the same as him, yet here I am technically morbidly obese.

My first pen arrives tomorrow. I just can't wait to get started.

WeeklyJab · 09/10/2024 10:07

My taking it was a joint decision because I couldn’t make that significant a financial commitment without discussing it with DH. Just as he wouldn’t spend that much money a month without talking it over with me.

With a child at university, it’s not like we don’t have plenty of pressure on the household already.

CatKitt · 09/10/2024 10:14

Hope everyone is doing alright? Nice to see the losses so far! 3.5mg is still keeping me going. I've lost a stone since I started Mounjaro and I couldn't be any happier. I have a few more stones to lose so a bit of a long way to go but so happy to finally find what works! Had some nausea yesterday but they've subsided.

Oneeata · 09/10/2024 10:16

I took my first 2.5 injection Sunday evening 06/10 and haven't had much effect just yet. I understand can take up to 72hrs to peak. I'm a previous Ozempic user (although not for over 10 months) and I recall my first dose was literally bam next day all chatter gone, no rumbling stomach. Anybody on 2nd week having good effects?

Mounjaro October starters
jaffacakes10 · 09/10/2024 10:59

Hi, I'd like to join if that's ok. I just took my second dose this morning. I lost 2.3kg last week which seems pretty decent.

SW 80.5kg, BMI of 30.5.
CW 78.2kg

I'm a bit apprehensive as I got terrible nausea on day 2 last week, and found it really hard to concentrate at work between that and feelings of "what have I done???". The suppression certainly worked, though it also made things feel a bit 'dull' generally. Has anyone had that? I'm really hoping I don't get these side effects this time, or that they are less bad. Was going to inject into my thigh rather than stomach (as I did first time) as I read on another thread somebody saying that it really helped them for lessening side effects but then I was worried that there wasn't enough (!!) fat there and I'd hit muscle, so I just did stomach again. Anyway, time will tell I guess.

PomPomSugar · 09/10/2024 11:38

I am due to take my second dose tomorrow. I have had supression and no other symptoms other than a mild headache. No toilet issues but I wonder whether that is because of the diet I am following. I am doing low GI index foods and clean eating. Protein for breakfast (greek yoghurt, blueberries and seeds). I'm only eating starch resistant carbs, no caffeine, no booze. I followed this for a week before the jab and felt great, inflammation down, no sugar cravings. I think this has helped me moving forward. I haven't weighed yet, will do in the morning. I think the jab has just helped me keep on track with my diet due to the supression, which is great.

PomPomSugar · 09/10/2024 11:40

I've noticed on Tik Tok that lots of people seem to be eating the processed 'high protein' bars, shakes etc and they have constipation - I wonder whether its all the emulsifiers?

I've never been a breakfast fan but definitely don't feel hungry in the morning now. I've always been an evening snacker so have started knitting a complicated (for me) cardigan that keeps my hands busy and my attention focused so I don't drift mindlessly to the kitchen.

I feel the same, I injected Monday night and now on Wednesday lunchtime i feel no different really. I always eat lunch at 1pm and i am hungry now and can't wait for my chicken salad. Hopeful but not really anything positive or negative.

Autumnowl · 09/10/2024 12:40

Just paid for my first monjroro pen , feeling excited and hopeful..don't have anyone to tell in real life ,as it will be seen as cheating or taking drugs from diabetics.ive somehow got to hide the pen in the fridge.
Please god let it work ,or I will be forced to have WLS .
Going to make a cup of tea and read through this thread and hopefully get lots of information xx

I've taken my third 2.5mg dose this morning.

I took my second one a day early as I was going to be away last week, but since I have zero notable side effects I thought I'd continue on that vein as my 'suppression' was disappearing on day 5. My suppression has more been a 'reduction' so can't afford for it to disappear.

Two days off two weeks since my first jab and I'm 11lbs down.

I'm a fairly active person anyway with having horses, but I've added in swimming most mornings before work for 30-45 minutes. I'm going to wait a while before I add back in any higher intensity cardio (for fitness) as actually in some cases that can be such a change for your body and cause inflammation so the scales can stagnate or make you appear to put back on - the losses come back eventually but this early in the journey it's important to keep it coming off to maintain motivation!

Looking forward to reporting my official two week loss on Friday :)

LolaLouise · 09/10/2024 14:28

I survived my first night shift without sour patch kids and costa caramel lattes - possibly helped by the fact the entire population of my city visited A&E last night and i didnt have time to think about anything.

I also have cracked a good 24 hours period of food too. Not the best options granted, but kept me from being hungry and worked with my work and lifestyle, so I thought id share...

Meal 1: 250g 0% fat greek yogurt with a purition pistachio sachet - 320 cals 39g protein

Meal 2: arla food to go vanilla and hazelnut meal replacement shake - 385 cals 31g protein, and a ready made protein shake i can take to work that has zero artificial sweeteners and filling enough to keep me going through the entire 13 hours. I dont have time to eat something "proper" so this is really going to help

Meal 3: 1 pot veetee jasmine rice, with tuna in spring water, cucumber and spring onion, dressing made from rice wine vinegar, light soy sauce and sesame oil, with sesame seeds and siracha mayo - 364 cals 23g protein

Drinks - 3 teas made semi milk, 2 coffee's made with 1 sugar and oat milk, and 3 litres water im forcing myself to drink and hoping i get used to - 148 cals

total is 1218 cals 96g protein.

This has been game changing for me, easy, fits in my lifestyle, high protein and a reasonable amount of calories

If anyone else fancies sharing their best days for inspiration it would be appreciated!

Yes, me! I don't like eating first thing anyway, but the last couple of days I've not eaten until 3pm because I just wasn't hungry, but then didn't get the 'I'm full' feeling when I did eventually eat. Which isn't surprising really as that's a stupidly longtime to go without food and the aim of this isn't to starve!

Today I made myself have a protein shake mid-morning and cheese and crackers for lunch and I feel more sated and back in control. I think the not feeling hungry is such a novelty it's easy to run with it and forget we do still need to eat regularly.
