Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

Hello! Please can I join? My first syringe arrived today from Medexpress, I only ordered it yesterday. I'm F41, 5ft1 and weight 13stone.
I'm just trying to decide on the best day to inject. The impatient side of me wants to do it now but I work on a Thursday and Friday and I think they would be the best days to have at the end of the dose as I'm busier and can hopefully avoid overeating when suppression wears off. I just need to be patient until Friday night 🙈.
I'm planning to follow lowish carb/high protein in the hope that I can then stick with that way of eating when I finish MJ 🤞. Nervous but excited to get started!

PepsiMaxandPringleStacks · 08/10/2024 14:52

Last day of week 1, going to weigh in and take my second injection in the morning. My suppression is starting to wear off, I've felt hungry today and not getting the feeling full after eating as well as I did last week!

Just a question I use ASDA and wanted to cut out the middle man for next pen and just buy directly from Zava. Do Zava ask for pictures etc the same way asda do or will they accept proof of current dosage to approve? Just thinking if its worth the faff..

Weighed in this morning after my first week and I’ve lost 7.6lbs!! Can’t quite believe it as I’d convinced myself I wasn’t losing anything.
I’ve been very lucky as I’ve had no side effects at all so far. Food just doesn’t come into my mind - I can happily carry on working then suddenly realise it’s 2pm when before I would have been straight down to the kitchen at noon!

Amazing!!!! Well done

yes, i started with Asda as i wanted to pick it up, but for the cost i changed to Zava.. its pretty much the same process..

my next im changing again and going with Med express as you get Blue Light discount or £40 off first.. im a long way off maintence so happy to switch about for the money side for now!

Ive been talking to a few people i know IRL about it, one said it was week 3 of 2.5mg before she felt it kick in, another said it was starting 5mg.

Its not doing anything for me either at the minute, but im being strict with calories and up the exercise, hoping it will kick in eventually. /either way though, will hopefully shed a couple of kilos, maybe not the 30 id like to though

LolaLouise · 08/10/2024 17:26

@Bakedpumpkin I also found this interesting. I got the shotsy app and added 4 weeks on 2.5mg injections to it. Each week you peak, and then it drops, but it doesnt drop to zero. The peak on week 1 was 2mg in system, but the peak on week 4 3.3mg in system. It doesnt leave your system in the week, it tops it up to a higher level than the previous. So just because it isnt working now on a lower dose, doesnt mean you wont feel the affect when you have more in your system. It also seems from googling that why some none-responders are non-responders, it will only work for them with say 10mg in the system, and they dont stick with it that long. Where as others feel it working really well at 5mg so dont need to move up a dose as they just keep it at that level. I think if get up to the 10/12.5 and then nothing, maybe its time to look at something else, like ozempic, but its really early days, and m still trying to "trust the process"

Just took the first dose, ran out of excuses not to! Feeling a little anxious waiting for any effects to show up - how long did it take before you felt anything (if you did)? amazingly painless experience though, I had to check if the needle was actually in!

LoungeAct · 08/10/2024 17:41

I actually forgot to eat lunch today!! I had a doctors appointment in my lunch hour and thought I’d have my sandwich when I got back, but then forgot. Who even am I? 😂I did eat it when I remembered but this suppression is so weird.

ShrinkingMama · 08/10/2024 17:42

Hi everyone,

I hope it's okay for me to join. I have just ordered my first dose and if everything goes smoothly I will take the first dose this weekend.

Any advice on how to prepare? I will get some healthy food in and maybe some immodium just in case. Anything else people would advise?

This is really interesting thanks for sharing. I only know one person in real life also on it and he couldn’t eat a thing a couple hours after first ever shot, as we work together it’s been tough but I’ll try hold out and see if anything changes.

YummyCookie · 08/10/2024 18:11

@Pegsmum I’m also considering bringing it forward a day or 2. Due next dose on Thursday but I’m going to London for the weekend on Friday, so I’m thinking tonight or tomorrow might be better.

Thank you! I will know to get my pictures etc ready for when I switch over so they don't hold it up!

I’m picking my prescription up tonight. So I’m planning to start it today before bed. Has anyone had any awful side effects? I’m worried I’ll feel too ill to work or go to my gym classes - and I’m already on a warning for sickness at work after having the flu for weeks earlier this year - but if I wait to take it till the weekend I have a toddler to look after, so not sure which is the best thing to do! I am so nervous!

Edited

It’s incredibly hard to say as we’ve all experienced a range of side effects to a greater or lesser degree. Only time will tell really. How with what feels right for you. I shouldn’t think you’d feel so bad that you need time off work though.

RunSlowTalkFast · 08/10/2024 18:52

If I don't feel anything after my second dose I'm tempted to try 3mg or 3.5mg or 3.75mg for my 3rd dose. Need to do more research into the clicks thing though!

😭😭😭 I know already I must be a non responder.

Don’t worry, that was me for first 48 hours and I thought it wasn’t working but today I’ve not really been thinking about food at all and I’m hardly hungry after a busy day teaching. Had a protein, fruit and yogurt shake (with psyllium husk for constipation! Which is working well) Had a pitta pocket with tuna and salad for lunch and only just going to eat now. Could easily not eat! I’ve been really interested in the discussions around calorie intake and I’m very aware that I need to maintain a sensible amount alongside eating healthy, nutrient dense foods. This has to be a life long change. In another note most of the side effects have subsided which is nice. Well done to everyone for their amazing losses.

Doghairismyglitter · 08/10/2024 19:11

well done to everyone who weighed this week!

Day 3 here
Breakfast: banana and protein shake
Lunch: 2x Ryvita with cottage cheese on, 1 hard boiled egg

only managed a few mouthfuls of dinner.

Weirdly, again, I’ve only had one black coffee and have so much more energy?! Usually I’d be on 4/5/6 caffeine drinks a day!

zero symptoms today, praying it stays like that!

hopeishere · 08/10/2024 19:37

I'm on day two. Bit of nausea in the night and first thing. I ate well today but I still feel like I could have a chunk of leftover birthday cake!!

One interesting thing is my huge Diet Coke intake has reduced slightly!!

I'm a pepsi max addict and I've had a glass and a half all week and it was a struggle. Gone off it so much!

Dogm · 08/10/2024 20:33

Hello all . Quick update after my 1st week on Mounjaro! So very very mild side/negative effects - felt nauseous a few times but came and went and not too much of a bother. Definitely a noticeable appetite suppressing, no snacking temptations- averaged about 1000 calories a day. Had some naughty treats like crisps, a McDonald’s, small glass of wine, popcorn and done no exercise except walking dogs. 2.5 mg is the starter building dose. The effect defo wore off as the week went on, becoming more like a normal hungry last few days! So was pretty pleased to see I have lost 7.7ilbs!! 2nd dose tonight 🤞🏻although worried

i feel the same- I just did my second jab and feel worried i messed it up somehow… was reading the instructions fully. Some of the videos on TikTok seem helpful so may do that next week

That’s really useful information and makes sense. Especially when some people are feeling dramatic effects and some of us are ‘when’s this going to kick in’ I definitely won’t have a huge weight loss this week but I have ben careful about what I’m eating. Hopefully next week I’ll feel more suppression. As you say we need to trust in the process and everyone will move at their own pace. We can do this 🙌🏻
