Hi,
I've taken the plunge and ordered Mounjaro through MedExpress. My prescription was accepted today and as long as it arrives in time I plan to start on Thursday (my birthday is on Wednesday 😂😂). I thought I would start a thread for any new starters if anyone is interested 😊

I ordered from medexpress this morning and had read lots of threads that said it took 3-5 days to be delivered with all the checks. However mine is going to arrive by lunchtime tomorrow!!

Random question but does anyone know what happens if you aren't in for delivery? I was expecting it wouldn't be here till Monday and the DCs have football all morning tomorrow. DH is home but on nights and rarely hears the door.

I got an email from royal mail and it said I didn't have to sign for it so I clicked on the delivery options and chose a safe place to leave it which they did no issues

How on earth does one decide where to buy from?! I think I've decided then I change my mind. We're doing a never ending extension/build so I reached decision fatigue long before this decision!

Leaning towards Oushka or Med Express but not entirely sure why!

Did anyone have their favs the days leading up to starting? Im having my fav calorific thai green curry for tea, finishing of some chocolates i got for my birthday, and going out for a meal tomorrow ahead of starting on Sunday, but i already feel half guilty over the calories, half wanting to just enjoy 2 final days of my favourites

Yes! I have a favourite meal planned for tomorrow like it's the last supper before I take my first jab in the evening

Tohaveandtohold · 04/10/2024 21:28

I’m joining this thread. Mine arrived this afternoon , i ordered from med express yesterday and it’s here already. I plan to start tomorrow evening, I’m going out with my friends in the afternoon tomorrow so want to enjoy myself with no worries of side effects. I’m scared, unsure of what to expect but I just need my BMI (33) to be normal.

I feel the same as you, I started yesterday but have had lots of thoughts about what I’m doing to myself and why can’t I do this on my own. I’m annoyed with myself that it’s come to this but nothing will change if nothing changes. At the same time I’m relieved I’ve actually taken the plunge and it’s great to have this outlet for support and to share our experiences. Hope your delivery arrives soon!

That’s such a relief to hear - I’m glad I’m not alone. I’d we can just get things started and on the way then I think it will give us the motivation and strength to keep going and hopefully we won’t have to take it for too long.

thekewgirl · 04/10/2024 22:00

Glad yours is on the way @EVK. I am totally the same. I feel bad about relying on medication when i never do for anything else but I need to turn the direction of travel on those scales

Doghairismyglitter · 04/10/2024 22:33

To all that are wondering about deliveries: I was at work and Royal Mail popped it in my shed.
Still haven’t used it though, currently munching my way through Brie grapes and crackers (and wine) 🙈 my last treat. Doing it tomorrow, scared and desperately hopeful this will be the turning point!

Same but I’m going with the slimming clinic as they are the cheapest I think. And I know someone who used to get diet pills from there so it makes it feel more ‘legit’ to me.

Yes! We are currently away the weekend and just had pizza and wine and chocolate.
Tomorrow will be fish and chips.

Normal food Monday and Tuesday but then I have to work away from wed-Friday which will include 3 course meals etc. I’m officially starting my jab on Saturday!

I looked at the chart on one of the threads looking at relative costs, looked at reliability and customer satisfaction scores, and chose with those in mind.

@AutumnalCosiness @fabulosaaa i was scared too, which is why it sat in my fridge for a week, but the injection isn’t bad at all and I figured I can just stop taking it if I don’t like it. Let’s see how it goes, first 24hrs for me!

Let us know how it goes 👍

I wouldn't eat a lot of junk then take the jab as it slows down digestion it will all be sitting in your stomach!! I would hold off til the next day. I'm on day 4 now and have been eating healthily and even in the morning if I burp I can taste my veggies from night before, so I imagine a nice rich meal would be horrid sitting in your stomach

I’ve got the starting of a headache and I’ve been quite thirsty all day. Anyone else with the thirst??
eaten yoghurt and fruit for brekkie, and a protein shake for lunch, will be having chicken and salad for dinner. Normally I would be CRAVING sugar but I’m not - as a PP said I don’t know if that’s due to placebo or guilt of paying the money and starting the treatment or whether somethings actually working!

Yes I've been getting the first but I'm just drinking loads as I'm sure it's helping flush everything out. I am day 4 now and I thought maybe the feelings were just placebo until yesterday, I tried a but if my sons sweet and salty popcorn and it was the worst thing I've ever tasted! I also thought my rice tasted weird on day 1, I made some rice again last night without salting the water and it tasted fine. Put 2 and 2 together with the popcorn and realised it has made me hate the taste of salt!! (I remember reading others had this)

Another thing I've had that is weird and I'm like is this placebo is heightened sense of smell! It feels like being pregnant haha.

Maggi85 · 05/10/2024 08:22

Think suppression has started on day two. Will see how today pans out…

igivein · 05/10/2024 08:35

Thanks @Wildywondrous
After I posted I got a notification that it’s being delivered today before 1pm!
It’s all a bit quick to be honest - I only psyched myself up to applying yesterday.
I’m a bit concerned how easy it was to get it, almost like ‘are they really checking, or will they jut sell it to anyone?’ But I suppose I am obviously morbidly obese in my photo, so there wouldn’t have to be much pondering about whether I should have it.
I’m going to take it this evening, hope I’m not too ill …

LolaLouise · 05/10/2024 08:37

Is anyone planning supplements?

Ive spent the last hour trying to research what would be best to pop down to holland and barrett this afternoon, now my online basket is at over £250 and im completely overwhelmed.

Mine took over a week to be confirmed and prescribed, 3 photos being submitted, and im well into obese on BMI and clearly big on the photos!

UpUpUpU · 05/10/2024 08:43

Is the salt thing an actual thing? I had chilli last nights with a handful of nacho chips. The ones I normally have and add extra salt too. Last night, without any extra salt, I couldn’t eat them as they were so salty?

Wugglesworth · 05/10/2024 08:53

Took my first jab yesterday - eek! I'm feeling a bit bloated today, did anyone else have the same? It could be hormonal to be fair...

NearlyAutumnNow · 05/10/2024 09:28

@LolaLouise im planning to take collagen supplements and a multivitamin. Do we need anything else?

@Wugglesworth my tummy felt a bit “funny” on day 1 but today is day 2 and it feels normal now

Same. I took it Thursday night and started my period Friday morning so I’m not sure what’s period bloat/stomach upset and what is the MJ.

I lost my mum at Christmas and today would have been her 66th birthday. Im
obviously feeling a sad and would normally binge so let’s see what the day holds. Only on my first coffee still and not hungry yet.

So far my basket has:

Multivitamins (general female ones)
collagen
peppermint capsules (ive read sulphur burps are a common side effect)
Vitamin D which i generally take in winter months anyway
Psyllium husk (read constipation common)
Magnesium
Tumeric
lionsmane (i currently function off caffeine and will need to cut down the amount of lattes i drink)
probiotic
electrolyte sachets
protein

NearlyAutumnNow · 05/10/2024 09:44

@LolaLouise thats really helpful - what are the magnesium and turmeric for?

I have saw lots of people talk about the salt thing and as I say it only made sense when I didn't season my rice and it tasted nice! It's so weird!
