@poppym12 definitely had rubbish sleep a few weeks back but it seems to have calmed down now. honestly at this stage tho I don't know what's from MJ, or perimenopause, or autumn, or...

20bloodypounds · 04/10/2024 20:30

@Bellyblueboy you (we) might be on this medication longterm, however some of the preliminary results show a cardioprotective effect, plus positive effects on blood sugar and blood pressure. So that's a load of other potential medication we might not be on for life.

@owlyboo money-wise and health-wise this is saving me from alcohol.

@itwasnevermine well done on that injection. I did my first one today too when my hard twist didn't work. What a difference from the shaking, hyperventilating first dose of MJ.

It's scary isn't it?! Because it's a "real needle" but then you do it and it's fine!

poppym12 · 04/10/2024 20:54

I hope it calms down @lookathatbookcase as I'm really struggling.

Blondeshavemorefun · 04/10/2024 20:59

@20bloodypounds plus seems to help
Joints. We said about this in think aug 4

I have a bad ankle
Due to falling over and even when. Had only lost a few pounds via mj it seems to ache less

Obv less weight helps but even before lost lost it seemed to be less achy

Same with my hips. I have severe arthritis in them and
Seem less sore

@poppym12

Sleep. I sleep well apart from few nights after jabbing and seem to wake for a wee every 2hours

I moan about it alot Fri sat sun usually 😂😂

And yes def off booze - I don't drink a lot now but would love a pink gin and lemonade at end of week so usually Friday as don't work fri nights

Think last week or week before I poured one thinking yummy

Took maybe 2/3 slips and thought no. Don't want this

Wingingit11 · 04/10/2024 21:01

I sleep terribly but that’s not a MJ thing and think it’s peri. But again MJ has impact on hormones so can see might exacerbate. Personally I feel better on MJ as think what I do sleep is better quality as my digestive system is not having its own cardiac from
overload!

Sticking my head in from the September thread to say "me too" to @poppym12 on the rubbish sleep. And like @lookathatbookcase I don't know if it's the mounjaro, the season, peri or my darling child who wakes me up at least once a night at the moment (she's struggling with anxiety and bad dreams, so I understand, I just wish to god we could both sleep through)! Any time past 3am and that's it, there's no getting back to sleep. So I go about my days, zombie-like. Just not mainlining chocolate like I used to!

itwasnevermine · 04/10/2024 21:46

Okay the change to my thigh plus higher dose (0.7ml, so I think about 5.8mg) might've been a bad idea, I feel so sick! Hopefully it's kicked back in though

NippyCrab · 04/10/2024 22:49

itwasnevermine · 04/10/2024 20:13

I think the maintenance doses are 5,10 and 15

Oh no, i won't be above 2.5 when I'm maintaining 😕

Oh no

On. I don't advise dose and bonus on same day

But 5 was doing nothing for me

Hope you feel better tomorow

It’s lovely seeing more people post! I (still) haven’t told anyone in real life that I’m on MJ, so this thread is great. Love hearing how everyone else is getting on, makes me feel less alone!

My sleep has been a bit patchy too! I don’t think it’s necessarily MJ, but I have ordered some new bedding and a magnesium supplement so hoping that helps.

Thank you for all of the baby shower outfit ideas too. I ordered a couple of different options - will let you know how I get on!

So far 7.5mg has been fine, aside from being v thirsty. I might try some of those rehydration drink sachets

Timetochange24 · 04/10/2024 23:58

@eeeeeeeee I haven't told anyone yet either. Didn't want to say to dh at the start in case it turned out to be yet another diet that didn't work. And now I'm not sure how to say I've been medicating myself for 6 weeks... I feel great though. Almost 1.5 stone down since 24 August.
I'm so glad I ordered my first pen, and grateful to be able to offload here. I started late in Aug and earlier posts were so helpful when I was deciding to start. Thank you!

Bellyblueboy · 05/10/2024 02:58

I have told anyone either - but I live alone so it’s easier.

thinking about Christmas and having family staying at my house - how do you hide the pen in the fridge? I know my mum will snoop😩

I don't keep mine in the fridge. It means ordering just in time to start the pen so that the 30 days don't run out.

Wingingit11 · 05/10/2024 05:30

You don’t have to be on any particular dose for maintenance as I understand it and can try to also taper down gently to readjust and go back up if it doesn’t. Try not to think about the cost over a year of all of this but I guess the best investment you can make is into your health and I do think my day to day costs have much reduced because of it !

OP posts:
Timetochange24 · 05/10/2024 06:05

@Wingingit11 my reduced snacking costs definitely offset some of the prescription cost. Cake when I stop for coffee, the odd takeaway, crisps, the dc's biscuits. And cheese... That's saved about £5 a month on its own. Plus I can fit into my old clothes again so another saving. But even without that, for me the health benefits feel worth the investment.

Timetochange24 · 05/10/2024 07:16

Anyone else still sleeping badly? I've been awake since 5.30 again and now I'm starting to feel sleepy it's time to get up 😴 Not helped by dh rolling around next to me, taking all the space and breathing loudly.

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 05/10/2024 08:54

Hey all, this thread moves way too fast for me to keep up with!!

Well done on all the losses. Thrilled for you @Blondeshavemorefun and hope this means less night time trips to the loo!!

I started MJ on 5 August so thought I’d weigh today - 2 stone loss which I’m thrilled with. I even had my first comment yesterday from a colleague who noticed!

I would like to lose another 2-2.5 stone but will see how it goes. My routine is a little off at the moment so leaving 8 days between jabs to get back to Monday being jab day. I’m currently on 45 clicks/ 3.75mg of my 1st 5mg pen and have just ordered my second. It’ll give me scope to up the dose if needed but 3.75 seems to be a happy place for me so far.

I have an event to go to in 5 weeks and a dress that is still too tight so really need to try and tone up a bit. Otherwise I’ll need a rethink.

Your pen can be out of the fridge for 30 days once started so keep it in your bedside draw or something. If you are really worried save the ice pack and insulation your pen is delivered in and use that.

itwasnevermine · 05/10/2024 09:02

Back to feeling that settled calm so I think jabbing a day or two early was the best bet for me. I wonder if it was my general illness that caused the issues last week, I just felt so crap I think my body was done 😂

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2024 09:39

@Bellyblueboy @Timetochange24 @eeeeeeeee same haven't told anyone

And so far onlt been the one mum who said to me walking to school from behind that I had lost weight

One would expect that 2st would show (including pre mj sw loss)

But then to get to my healthy high end bmi I still need to shift ideally another 4st 🥲

If to get to 20 more like 6 and that's never gonna happen as will look awful at that weight

@Wingingit11 very true. At say 200 a month that's £50 a week and seems doable

Obv lower dose and less money would be better

@Usernamechangeforthis12 2st is a great loss. Well done. And yes weeing slightly better last night. Was 3hrs usually 2

@itwasnevermine glad feeling better

@HippoPortlyMouse welcome from
Sept

@Motnight how much more would you like to lose - as above I said ideally another 4 for me so seems a long time away

@HamAlive I do wonder to Jab in leg. I'm always stomach and wonder if will make a diff

And lovely to see more people post

AdeloreSmore · 05/10/2024 09:57

Still here too following everyones journey. 20lb down (17.9 start) & feeling great. 52/HRT/Mirena/Wine made it impossible before so I am so very happy with my progress.
Just back from walking the dog and my undies and trousers kept sliding down so I think I might go digging for a pair of 'wardrobe warmers' later (ancient smaller jeans 😆) not getting hopes up yet as a lot to lose yet!

Snoopsteandcooper · 05/10/2024 10:03

Morning! I've noticed some unexpected benefits. I've had a patch missing from my eyebrow for years. I noticed over the last couple of weeks that it's grown back and my eyebrows are much fuller. I have had really bad driving anxiety that started with perimenopause. All of a sudden, it has just stopped and I'm away off driving happily. My nails also seem to have become a lot stronger. I'm not taking any supplements, so this is either due to MJ or my change in diet, less rubbish food and wine and more protein and veg. A wee Brucey Bonus! Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2024 10:08

@AdeloreSmore a def NSV

@Snoopsteandcooper yes my nails don't seem to be breaking as much. I do have biab but previously to mj I may have snapped one /acrylic

Motnight · 05/10/2024 10:13

Hi everyone. Really appreciating all the posts on here although I don't post as regularly as some. It's such a supportive thread.

@blondeshavemorefun - I would love to lose 5 more stone.

My DH has just been prescribed Mountjaro via the NHS. He took his first dose on Thursday and it appears to be working for him already 😮. I know that it's only been 2 days and as we all have experienced our bodies do very unexpected things with this drug.

I am going up to 7.5 tomorrow and hoping that I can stay at that dose for a couple of months. My appetite seems to be less suppressed over the last week or so on 5.

Oh yes, me too. 5:30am, which frankly I'm grateful for as it's later than the last couple of mornings, but it adds insult to injury when it's a Saturday morning and everyone else is sleeping in! Predictably I then feel sleepy again right as the alarm goes off or I need to get up anyway.
