You don’t have to be on any particular dose for maintenance as I understand it and can try to also taper down gently to readjust and go back up if it doesn’t. Try not to think about the cost over a year of all of this but I guess the best investment you can make is into your health and I do think my day to day costs have much reduced because of it !

@Wingingit11 this is my attitude regarding the cost. I am 60 now and if I don't get myself healthy now I am going to end up ill and disabled soon.

Pinkjenny · 05/10/2024 10:22

Another loss for me today and now I'm wondering whether I was a bit hasty in ordering 7.5mg. Anyway, one dose of 5mg left and then the bonus dose so we'll see.

poppym12 · 05/10/2024 10:53

After posting about the crappy sleep yesterday, I bought some magnesium. Took 2 before bed and although I still woke about 1 and 4am I went back to sleep. Possibly coincidence as my stressy couple of weeks are more or less done with but I'm going to try it again tonight.

I probably rattle as I walk with the amount of supplements I take.

lookathatbookcase · 05/10/2024 11:01

IN! The chunky loafers I bought 2 months ago (down from £150 to £48, thankyew) which didn't fit bc my ankles and feel were so swollen but now they do!!!

OUT! The wide-leg pale denim jeans I bought earlier in the year which I love love but literally fell off my hips this morning (I may get them taken in but it's the thought that counts).

Also had my first 3.75 dose last night which didn't result in grim side effects this morning so am feeling very chipper :)

On cost I added up my takeaways, snacks, buns, deserts, lunches at work and Starbucks. I delete that from the injection cost because I don’t do that anymore:

I will also hopefully start to fit into my smaller sized clothing which will save me money.

I am actually saving overall🥳

itwasnevermine · 05/10/2024 11:08

Just forced down a bowl of strawberries and I feel like im back at week one with the suppression! I feel soooo sick and stuffed

owlyboo · 05/10/2024 11:27

Weigh in! 3 pounds off this week taking me to 29lbs over all (including the 9lb pre MJ weight loss) so I've hit the two stone mark! Whoop!!

UniqueLemonOrca · 05/10/2024 11:52

Bellyblueboy · 05/10/2024 02:58

I have told anyone either - but I live alone so it’s easier.

thinking about Christmas and having family staying at my house - how do you hide the pen in the fridge? I know my mum will snoop😩

I keep mine in the fridge in a tomato puree box - works a treat!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/10/2024 11:57

@owlyboo well done on loss and @Pinkjenny

@UniqueLemonOrca fab idea

Or a jar of prunes 😂

@itwasnevermine sorry suffering

@poppym12 I've heard good things about magnesium

itwasnevermine · 05/10/2024 12:03

Has anyone else found they actually enjoy food more since starting MJ?

Yes I eat less and yes some days I am totally food averse, but im eating practically 0 crap. I've had two bags of crisps in two months. I'm not stuffing myself with huge amounts of UPFs (apart from protein drinks, which im working on!), I'm having real home cooked food and loving it

Timetochange24 · 05/10/2024 13:19

I'm enjoying trusting my food if that makes sense! Because I haven't been inhaling chocolate all day, I don't feel bad in any way for having a reasonable dinner (as much of it as I can eat anyway!) - had some lovely pork yesterday, cooked with a little bit of olive oil which I'm more confident now isn't going to make me put on half a stone overnight, a small portion of gnocchi (because carbs aren't the enemy) and some nice veg. And (downside) an amount of wine that was less than I'd normally drink but has still left me with a horrendous headache.

Timetochange24 · 05/10/2024 13:22

I weighed in at 79.9 kg this morning 😁 That's 9.1kg down and I'm now the same weight as January 2020 when I did the Second Nature programme, lost a few pounds, then put them all on again when lockdown started.

I weigh daily so it might be over 80 again tomorrow but it made me happy (through the wine headache) this morning.

Well done to everyone posting losses.

Pinkjenny · 05/10/2024 13:29

I have definitely felt a little bit of 'I miss cake' creeping in. For me the mounjaro is stopping me eating it, plus my biggest issue has always been binging and portion control.

I don't want to spend the rest of my life not 'eating crap', I want to be able to eat in moderation.

Like normal people do 😂

However, I do feel that perhaps I will be on a maintenance dose long term.

One of the biggest things I've found is I've been able to treat myself to a biscuit or a little cake without going OTT!

Excellent loss on mj

Manypaws · 05/10/2024 14:04

I've only lost 4lbs in four weeks 😳

cosylife · 05/10/2024 14:24

Just taken my 7th injection and my 4th of 5mg. Lost another 2lbs this week and another 3 inches from my measurements.

SW: 16 stone 3lbs
CW: 14 stone 7lbs
Total loss: 1 stone 10lbs (in 6 weeks)

Over the moon with these results and had a few comments from friends that I’ve noticeably lost weight. My aches and pains are nearly all gone. Haven’t felt this good in years.

Those doing or have done the bonus dose did you use insulin syringes or buy the cap needles that we get with the pen?

JoyousSwan · 05/10/2024 14:30

Does anyone else still get nervous/excited on injection day? I'm just about to do the bonus dose of my 2nd pen.
I love reading everyone's posts. I've not told anyone that I'm on MJ so find it so helpful to read how everyone else is getting on and how different we all are in terms of side effects or the impact of the injections.
Happy Saturday everyone!

Cracking loss @cosylife! And commiserations on a slow loss to @Manypaws. Do you think there's anything holding you back?

@Pinkjenny It's interesting, your point abut wanting to eat things in moderation like a normal person. Personally - and I absolutely don't think this applies to everyone - I feel I'm having to come to terms with the fact that I'm not a normal person and I can't get away with it. My idea of moderation is going to have to be much, much less and much less often than normal people. Time after time I've lost weight, enabled myself to eat stuff in moderation, then found myself back into overeating and cravings. I think I've affected my ability to process stuff like refined carbs by my constant yoyoing, and I'm going to have to treat myself like a diabetic or someone with an allergy or addiction from now on. So I might eat a piece of cake, but then I probably shouldn't have another bit for at least a month and I shouldn't regard it as the ultimate eating experience, because it's never as good as I think it will be.

We all have different journeys, I suppose. What works for one of us won't work for another. I imagine I will need to take the medication long term, but I don't see myself needing to stick to less than 1000 calories every day for the rest of my life.

Manypaws · 05/10/2024 14:04

I've only lost 4lbs in four weeks 😳

That’s what I’ve lost in the last 4 weeks, but overall am down just over a stone, which I’m thrilled about.
We aren’t all going to loose fast, just need to keep our spirits up on our own individual weight loss. I’m hoping I’ll lose more once I hit the higher doses. But a healthy weight loss is 1-2lbs a week, plus weight loss tends average out. Some weeks I lose nothing, then I’ll have a good loss & lose several pounds in one week. Even a pound a week would mean I’ll be another 11bs lighter by Christmas!😊
So congratulations @Manypaws on your loss so far! What dose are you on?

Pinkjenny · 05/10/2024 14:44

Well, I hope not anyway!

weaseleyes · 05/10/2024 14:50

Pinkjenny · 05/10/2024 14:44

Well, I hope not anyway!

I hope not too! 😀There's obviously a difference between actively trying to lose weight and general maintenance/everyday life. I just meant that a sobering issue for me is realising that maintenance won't mean eating like normal people. But I'm old with a particular history, and that won't hold true for everyone by any means.
