@OctoberLeaf I have noticed a large gap in my life where food, thinking about food, planning food and buying food used to be, it’s a large hole ! However like yourself I’ve lost 12lbs but in 5 weeks and I’m getting used to the head ‘space’. I am still cooking for family but not eating much. I’m concentrating and spending my time revamping my eating, from what I buy, fridge contents etc. Having healthy & nutrient dense food, looking at new recipes and experimenting.
I am trying to adapt to and understand my whole relationship with food as whilst this med is giving me the kick start I badly needed - I can’t afford to keep it up indefinitely.
So I suppose I’m feeling a tad empty but I know it’s a long term thing for me so it won’t happen overnight and it’s a process of sorts ?

WonkyD · 10/10/2024 15:17

@SwiftiesVSLestat Yes, much better thank you.

Well done @InfoSecInTheCity, thats a milestone to celebrate (not with anything high calorie, mind you)! 😆

It sounds like it's working for the majority of us - despite side effects and slow losses sometimes. My scales haven't shifted for the past few days but thanks to mounjaro I don't have cravings for sympathy chocolate, that's an achievement in itself.

There's something so freeing and different about those times when the scales don't really move whilst on MJ - you don't have the option of just "throwing in the towel" so it's much easier to accept it, switch off me feel confident that they'll shift eventually.

@InfoSecInTheCity That's fantastic! Well done. How does it feel to no longer be obese? That's a complete dream of mine but I'm a long way off.

It's kind of like the day after you turn 30 or 40 or 50.....

In theory you know you're now in a new bracket and think you should feel different, in reality you don't feel any different to how you did the day before and the day before you felt like you probably shouldn't even be classified as a grown up. 😂

It is nice to think that next time I'm talking to a medical person with a 'fattitude', you know the ones who automatically blame every possible ill health you have on being obese, "hmmm well infosec we could look at removing the nail stuck in your foot but before we do that have you considered eating less and moving more to lose some weight because that won't be helping", they won't be able to go there so easily, or at least I'll be in a position to challenge it back a bit more.

Love the term "fattitude". Well done on your bracket shift!

sylv165 · 10/10/2024 18:52

Ah well done @InfoSecInTheCity! That must feel so good.

My first MJ period started yesterday. Usually I would be eating everything in sight but although I definitely noticed a slight increase in appetite over the past few days, I am still finding it pretty easy to resist. And my amazing, productive mood also continues- I genuinely think it will be worth it for that alone, never mind the weight loss!

I totally agree with what you’ve said here about small losses not affecting you mentally so much on MJ.

I wonder if it’s because it doesn’t feel like hard work/sacrifice?

suze12 · 10/10/2024 19:35

Week 4 weigh in for me today and I lost 1lb which I’m happy with after losing 4 last week.

I have 2 interim goals- to be 12st7 by Halloween and 11st7 by Christmas which is around 1.5lbs per week. I only need to lose 1lb a week for the next 3 weeks for my Halloween goal so am cautiously optimistic that I’ll make it.

I took the bonus dose earlier- gosh I had to be really firm with the pen and didn’t think I’d get it to budge but did eventually (after almost breaking my hand in the process such was the force I needed!). I have no idea what sort of dose I got out of it but I wasn’t overly generous with my priming so I’m hoping it’s more than 2.5mg.

I’ve been eating way more this week, suppression really waned from about day 3-4 in and yesterday ate loads of chocolate. So, I’m definitely ready to increase dose and I hope I’ve given myself a bridge to starting my 5mg pen next week.

Is anuone keeping their pen out of the fridge after the first dose? I have a very nosey family member staying next week and it won’t be safe in the fridge even concealed in a box or something so think I need to take my dose a day early before she arrives and then keep it in my underwear drawer or something. I know they say it’s fine out of the fridge as long as it doesn’t get too warm (fat chance in this weather!) but wondered if anyone was actually doing this as I think most people keep it in the fridge constantly.

SW- 13st5
week 1- 13st1
week 2- 13st1
week 3- 12st11
week 4- 12st10

Same I’m about to come on tomorrow and I feel fine. I’ve still had some pms and I’m I bit more tired and maybe a bit hungrier but nothing major at ALL. So much better than most months when I crave all the chocolate. Also not noticed any messing up of cycle so far, seems to be same as my usual cycle.

sylv165 · 10/10/2024 20:22

@suze12 i keep mine out of the fridge but keep it in a little cool bag thing so hopefully that’ll make sure it doesn’t get too hot. Helps keep it all together too

Hi,

oh ok that’s a useful tip. I need to seek out a mini cool bag as only have a big picnic style one!

thanks

On topic of periods, I’m 10 days into my always 4 period. It must be Mounjaro, as nothing else has changed. I’m not feeling crampy or sore but just like it might never end! Going to call Oushk tmrw and discuss x

InfoSecInTheCity · 10/10/2024 21:34

@suze12 you can buy pouches for insulin pens designed to stay cool

https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=Cool+pouch+for+insulin+pen&s=price-asc-rank&crid=B99ROX8Q0BTZ&qid=1728592340&sprefix=cool+pouch+for+insulin+pen%2Caps%2C99&ref=srstt_price-asc-rank&ds=v1%3AjTdegb2MqxWvuLrkc9hiLuiWh%2Bagh5%2BKzIqOHaRKCWE

It isn't necessary though as long as you'll be using up the pen within 30 days and are keeping it below 30degrees C, which is fairly guaranteed at this time of year unless you're hiding it in the fireplace or oven 😀

4th injection this morning.

I just opened a 200ml Catton of fresh orange, the kids ones with straws, took 4 sips and threw up!

I just couldn't keep it down!

3 week weigh in tomorrow. Really hoping for 2lb off

SpiderMother · 10/10/2024 23:06

I'm just about to do my 6th injection. No issues with moving up to 5.0 mgs this week. I've felt progressively less hungry as the week has gone on. No bad side effects.

So this week I've lost 2.6 lbs. I've averaged 900 calories aiming for 800-1000. I'm getting to the point where I feel I might want to move to eating a bit more now, because I feel like I'm not eating enough.

Slightly revised stats this week:

Height.- 5 ft 2
heaviest - 12 stone 3.7 (1.9.24)
starting MJ - 11 stone 11.7
end of week 5 - 10 stone 11.7
Week 5 loss - 2.6 lbs
Total MJ weight loss - 1 stone!!
Loss to date (including dieting before jabs) - 1 stone 6 llbs
Goal - 9 stone 7

Really happy to have got to this weight. Its the lighest I've been since June 2020 when I gained weight in lockdown. Lightest post-children is 8 stone 13 though so a long way to go to get near to that.

Orange juice made me really sick when I was pregnant. If I had some, I would throw up every time I ate for 24 hours!

Five weeks in and I am doing really well in terms of weight loss. I have insomnia, but that comes and goes normally, but the thing that is worrying me is chronic constipation. Does anyone have any tips?

Prune juice.

skiptrip · 11/10/2024 08:06

Slightly gutted to have gained this week as I haven't eaten any more than in previous weeks. So after a great loss in the first week it really stalled and now 2lb on!
SW: 13st 5
CW: 13st
GW: 10st

Fourth 2.5 jab taken last night. Hoping that going up to 5 next week will get things shifting.

Ah we're twins.
4th jab taken yesterday morning and I did a cheeky mid week weigh in that said 2lbs down but my official weigh in today says I've put 1lb back on so only 1lb down.

Feeling a bit deflated tbh. I read so many people that said they lost a stone the first month and have an event and was kind of hoping for that too.

I know 8lbs in 3 weeks is good but I've always had the rouble breaking the 11st barrier.

And I just keep going up and down between 11 and 11.1

Maybe I should hide my scales because I always do this and get really disheartened :(

doodleschnoodle · 11/10/2024 08:15

Weigh-in day!

SW: 203lbs
Weight last weigh-in day: 184.7
Weight today: 181.7

So 3lbs off this week and 21.3lbs in total so far!

I went up to 3.75 but have had some gastric issues all week so might dial back to 2.5.

MissBPotter · 11/10/2024 08:15

@KittyGetSmall habe you done any measurements or progress pics? If not maybe do them now as the non scale victories really help. I’ve just put on a pair of jeans I’ve not worn for ages and they really big on me, which feels great so maybe try that!

Could it be cycle related? The week before my period I do not lose weight, it doesn't matter how careful I am with food and water, the scales don't move. Then as soon as my period starts the weight falls off.

It is hard not feel deflated isn't it? But yes, 8lb in fantastic over the three weeks.

Hopefully this week is a blip for us!

skiptrip · 11/10/2024 08:31

@InfoSecInTheCity possibly - I'm on Mirena so don't have proper periods but have been getting a bit more breakthrough over the last few months.

The only other thing I can think of is that maybe I haven't been drinking quite as much water this week due to be out and about with work. Will try upping that again.
