Same here :(
My week 2 suppression ended by day 3. I am currently day 3 of week 3 and I am starving!!!
I am thinking about doing the bonus dose along with my 4th injection so I can move up to 5mg sooner.

How's your wright loss going? I was 5lbs down first week and 2lbs down today (I was a bit annoyed as I weighed midweek and was 2lbs down so expected more by today) but can't sniff at half a stone in a fortnight.

skiptrip · 04/10/2024 10:55

Second week has been pretty easy in terms of few side effects but on the flip side the suppression hasn't been so strong. That said, I'm still much less hungry and snacky than I would normally be. I did drink wine at the weekend though, which I hadn't felt like doing the weekend before! Only a pound off this week - but still a loss and half a stone over two weeks is fantastic - I'll take that!
SW: 13st 5
CW: 12st 12
GW: 10st

Third jab done - very queasy first thing this morning but I've now learnt that I need to eat a little something (I've been drinking keffir for breakfast as it goes down easily and seems to soothe any stomach issues) and the nausea then dissipates quickly. It's kind of like morning sickness for me!

My first week was amazing and I lost 8.5lbs!! But last week I only lost 1.5lbs which I was disappointed at but I’m trying to remind myself that it is 10lbs over 2 weeks and my body is maybe in a bit of shock over loosing so much in the first week. Plus I’ve had my period this week and my weight always goes up then.

Elephantino · 04/10/2024 11:59

End of week 5 on 2.5 for me and I had a gain of 2lbs. Still a loss of 7lbs in 5 weeks which I shouldn't complain about. Dithering whether to do 3.75 or 5 this week. Woke up with a stinking cold too.

Will decide later this afternoon.

mimosa1 · 04/10/2024 12:08

How annoying @Elephantino though they do say 5mg is the therapeutic dose.

Sorry for TMI, but I had 3 - 3!!!- bowel movements yesterday. This has never happened to me EVER. It must be MJ.

I've just snuck into overweight instead of obese BMI (though might be poo rather than fat, ahem) but I'm delighted.

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend xx

mimosa1 · 04/10/2024 12:09

I meant to say @Elephantino one does retain water when one is ill too so don't be disheartened and focus on getting better. Hope you can have a rest over the weekend.

SybillaB · 04/10/2024 12:50

I’m 3 weeks in, 4th injection due later. I have lost 5.5lb which is low compared to some but amazing to me. I still have good suppression so will stick to 2.5 for another month.

I’m thinking of injecting every 8 days instead of 7, has anyone else tried this?

I would think it would depend on if you are using your bonus dose.

I might have worked it out wrong but if you use 5 doses and inject every 8 days, injection 5 would be over the 30 day mark and you shouldn’t use the pen if it’s been more than 30 days since its first use.

Thanks, I hadn’t thought about that. It’s a good job this forum exists for help and support.

I was encouraged by your post as I've just had a disappointing week 2, after losing 5lb in week 1 I have only lost 1lb this week. Here's hoping it picks up again next week, am due no3 jab tonight. Well done for your loss!

Oh I’m pleased you found it helpful. I felt really despondent when I didn’t lose anything in week 2 but it goes to show that phrase ‘trust in the process’ is true (will need to remind myself of this next time I don’t lose anything!). I’m sure it will pick up again for you next week :)

I’ve also been trying to rationalise by thinking of all the positive things. The lack of impact on my social life, not feeling the pressure of being on a diet and constantly thinking about what I can and can’t eat. I was stuck in such a binge/starve rut using VLCD shakes for a few weeks and then binging for a fortnight and rinse and repeat. The weight loss is a great bonus but actually just the mental space is lovely.

who is everyone using as their supplier? Are people jumping around to get the best price? I’d used pharmacy 2 u for my first pen but am thinking of moving to oushk as they’re cheaper and offer a maintenance plan.

alwaysscared · 04/10/2024 14:28

End of week 4 weigh in today
17lbs off! I'm chuffed.
5th 2.5 injection today, may do it in my stomach as the suppression has been wearing off quickly and the doc won't up my dose yet

1957Bev · 04/10/2024 14:38

I’ve decided to stay on 2.5 for the second 4 weeks as I had some side effects - stomach pains, bloating and constipation. But also, I’m nervous about going to 5mg in case it makes it worse. It’s good to see that you had none!

20bloodypounds · 04/10/2024 14:47

@alwaysscared amazing resuts! Are you now ready to change you username to something more positive? x Your suppression may feel like it is wering off, but you must be managing to eat less / eat better things to have that kind of weight loss.

@KittyGetSmall and @WonkyD why not split the bonus dose over weeks 3 and 4? You could take an extra 1.25mg on day 4 this week (30 clicks of the pen, or 0.3ml of liquid if you're using a syringe). Then either the same again in week 4: 2.5mg on day 1 and 1.25mg on day 3, or alternatively in week 4: 3.75mg on day 1 (0.9 mg in a syringe).

That would take you up gradually towards 5 and might help this week and next.

20bloodypounds · 04/10/2024 14:49

After my unsuccessful attempt at the hard twist method yesterday I used a syringe today. There was 0.7ml available so I don't think I have very much at all yesterday. I injected 0.4ml and I'm hoping to revert to my usual Wednesday injection regime next week - suits my social life better!

Babycakes39 · 04/10/2024 15:02

I took my first 5ml Wednesday evening and got the worst headache yesterday which hasn't gone. Vomited in the night and had an accident 😳 thank god I was at home. But if this continues I'll have to stop taking it, I can't be worrying that I'm going to poo myself whenever I'm at work! I feel so disappointed 😞

Choux · 04/10/2024 15:11

@Babycakes39 sorry you've had such a rough time. First things first, water, bland food if you can manage it and Imodium if needed until your symptoms ease.

2.5mg to 5mg is a big jump. It's the only time you double the dose from one week to the next. Were you ok on 2.5mg or did you have side effects? Did you lose weight well on 2.5mg?

Depending on how the next few days go you should either drop back to 2.5mg, try 5mg again or take a dose somewhere between 2.5mg and 5mg. Your goal is to find the dose that gives you good positive side effects like suppression but doesn't make you ill.

Babycakes39 · 04/10/2024 15:24

Thank you @Choux. I had the burps and a few headaches on 2.5 but was finding the suppression was wearing off in the last few days of the week. Yesterday I only ate one small roll all day and today I've had one piece of toast and a bag of salted crisps. When I tried to eat vegetables last week it made me ill. What are you eating? I'm vegetarian x

Choux · 04/10/2024 15:43

The suppression does lessen as the week goes on. That's normal. It has a half life of 5 days so after 5 days half the dose has left your body.

I have been taking Mounjaro for 7 months and am currently on 15mg. I still eat more on days 6 and 7 each week.

I scrolled back and saw you say you lost a stone on pen 1. That's a big loss although I don't know your starting weight. You seem quite sensitive to the drug so would probably still lose weight on 2.5mg with less side effects. (By comparison I lost only 7lbs on my first pen and have had no burps, V&D or anything else till I got to 15mg and even then it's just nausea and over strong suppression for 4 days so I am not a super responder at all. I don't take 15 every week as the cumulative effects are too strong and make me too tired to live)

You need to drop back to 2.5mg and either stay there or increase very slowly so you don't feel as ill again as you do this week.

Choux · 04/10/2024 15:48

I am lucky enough to be able to eat anything without side effects. I lived in protein and salad over the summer. But can eat carbs, curry, sugar, alcohol with no impact. And I drink a lot of water. If I have a headache that's usually a sign I am dehydrated.

In some ways I have had a completely positive Mounjaro experience as I have lost 1-2 lbs a week with no side effects. 15mg pens are quite expensive though so I would like to be someone who could lose all my weight on a 2.5mg pen!

HippoPortlyMouse · 04/10/2024 15:57

I'm vegetarian too. Protein has been a challenge! Mini babybel (I have the light version) are great for snacks. I've got ice lollies of fruit and Greek yoghurt which are good when you're nauseous. Banana & berry smoothie with a scoop of Huel for when I don't feel like eating but can drink something.

Sounds like you're eating mostly carbs - try and keep it balanced with some good fats and protein too. I've weirdly gone off carbs since mounjaro, a very unexpected result since I used to be a carb-eating demon.

Choux has a good point re: titrating down a bit. The increase sounds like it hit you hard - why not drop back a bit and increase slowly (by click counting) over the next few weeks? Hope it helps you feel better soon.

Babycakes39 · 04/10/2024 16:02

Yeah I've lost a stone in 5 weeks and now weigh 12 St 3lbs. 5ft 4. Yes I definitely need to put more planning into eating actual meals again. I don't reckon I'm even managing 500cals atm. And I'm losing a lot of hair!

85reasons · 04/10/2024 16:05

That sounds awful @Babycakes39 - last week I gave myself 3.75ml (week 4 pen one) and am going to stick with that dose for the rest of pen 2 all the while it gives good suppression.

I feel in a weird place with MJ at the moment, I'm a stone down in a month but I think the novelty and shock of this sudden and drastic change in my attitude towards food and eating is wearing off. I just feel a bit empty about the whole thing. It's hard to explain but it's as though as there's no actual challenge or sense of hardship in losing the weight, it almost feels like it's not happening.

Babycakes39 · 04/10/2024 16:14

@85reasons yes I totally agree with the weird feeling. I feel disconnected from my body and find it hard to remember to eat or drink as there are no feelings?!

Choux · 04/10/2024 16:15

Hair loss is a sign that the body isn't getting enough nutrients.

www.healthline.com/nutrition/how-diet-affects-hair-loss#nutrient-deficiencies

Are you taking any vitamins and supplements to combat the lack of eating?

I'm not veggie and am focusing on high protein low carb eating. Veggie things I eat a lot of are:
Eggs - omelettes, scrambled, poached, in salads
Protein yoghurts and Greek yoghurt - a protein yoghurt can have 20g of protein in it
Pulses - chickpeas, baked beans, lentils. I often buy a ready made lentil dhal soup for quick meals. It also helps me poop.

EBoo80 · 04/10/2024 16:16

@85reasons that sounds tricky. Are you taking pleasure in non-weight goals too? I’m loving putting back on a pair of jeans that were uncomfortably tight before I started, or a couple of rings that I can get on now, for example. Maybe reminding yourself of the goals that aren’t about the number on the scales l, whatever those might be for you. (Mine are all clothes LOL)
