@Babycakes39 poor thing. How about hummus, or avocado, or a bit of peanut butter on your toast? Or vegetable soups? For this injection you just have to ride it out, and take OTC medicines to help manage any side effects - immodium, travel sickness pills, omeprazole. Next week, revert to 2.5mg, and if supporession wears off significantly, AND if you are then eating too much, you could take a half dose on day 4, giving a total of 3.75mg that week. Hope you feel better soon.

20bloodypounds · 04/10/2024 14:47

@alwaysscared amazing resuts! Are you now ready to change you username to something more positive? x Your suppression may feel like it is wering off, but you must be managing to eat less / eat better things to have that kind of weight loss.

@KittyGetSmall and @WonkyD why not split the bonus dose over weeks 3 and 4? You could take an extra 1.25mg on day 4 this week (30 clicks of the pen, or 0.3ml of liquid if you're using a syringe). Then either the same again in week 4: 2.5mg on day 1 and 1.25mg on day 3, or alternatively in week 4: 3.75mg on day 1 (0.9 mg in a syringe).

That would take you up gradually towards 5 and might help this week and next.

@20bloodypounds That is a good suggestion. I am just a little bit worried about using half of my week 4 dose in week 3 and then for some reason not being able to do the hard twist and not having enough left for a full week 4 dose.

alwaysscared · 04/10/2024 18:02

@20bloodypounds not quite ready to change the username yet!
Yes, I'm still making healthy choices but am feeling hungry!! But I'll just keep doing what I'm doing

I took my first 5ml Wednesday evening and got the worst headache yesterday which hasn't gone. Vomited in the night and had an accident 😳 thank god I was at home. But if this continues I'll have to stop taking it, I can't be worrying that I'm going to poo myself whenever I'm at work! I feel so disappointed 😞

Go back to 2.5mg for a week and then slowly titrate it up in .05mg stages. This is what I have done.

HOL2024 · 04/10/2024 19:23

felt hungry tonight so had half a small dominos pizza. Worked out as 450 calories so not too bad but feeling a little guilty.

Bonus dose tomorrow, bit worried about the insulin needle but I just need to get over it or I’ll chicken out and do the hard twist with the pen needle from pen 2.

sylv165 · 04/10/2024 19:23

Patting myself on the back after a work trip this week. Usually succumb to room service and wine in the hotel but last night I got a Sainsbury's chicken Caesar salad and stuck to water. Tonight I am in the airport having a pret salad rather than a Burger King 🤣😇

StanleyCup · 04/10/2024 19:36

Using this as my accountability thread. Im taking my bonus dose tomorrow morning of the 2.5. My weight loss so far has been -

SW- 13.10
Wk 1 - 13.3
Wk 2 - 13.1
Wk 3 - 12.13
Wk 4 - 12.10
UGW- 10
A full stone gone! Im really pleased.
Next weeks goal is 12.7lbs

Im hoping the hard twist works tomorrow, it looks like there is more than 2.5mg left in the pen, will i get the whole lot or does the pen only dispense 2.5mg?? May also stick to the 2.5mg dose with my next pen too.

My calories over the last 4 weeks have been low most days 600-1000 maximum. I take a collagen supplement plus multivitamins. Drinking 2-3 litres at least and getting 3-4 workouts in. Senna and baby prune pouches have helped with the constipation.

HippoPortlyMouse · 04/10/2024 19:59

Well done @StanleyCup! I'm hoping to cross the 1 stone milestone at my week 5 weigh in on Monday.

If you hard twist, the pen will only dispense 2.5. You then have the option of using another needle and injecting what's left (if you turn the dosage knob all the way up to 1 again, you'll find that it will only go part way down as the plunger stops at the end of the cartridge). You won't know the exact quantity, but can get an idea by eyeballing what's left.

StanleyCup · 04/10/2024 20:08

Thank you @HippoPortlyMouse hoping to carry on until i reach my UGW! It’s been a game changer in shutting down the food noise.
Good luck on your journey, smash that 1 stone loss next week.

I have no syringes but will try the hard twist and just go with the 2.5mg. I have the 5mg ready for next week but might just click to 3.75 to titrate slowly. Ive been lucky to not have many side affects so i’m a little anxious about jumping up to 5mg.

HippoPortlyMouse · 04/10/2024 20:33

Yep @StanleyCup I'm doing the same thing, planning to titrate up slowly - a few of us with a similar plan on the thread, I think. I haven't had bad side effects so far either, and why put the dose up when a lower one will be effective!

Thinking about it, we're really lucky in Britain to have the kwikpen that we can use to adjust our doses this way. The USA's much more restricted with single use shots.

GoldieLocks09 · 04/10/2024 20:42

2 days in to dose 2 of 2.5mg and luckily no significant side effects - felt slightly sick in the car yesterday and had a minor headache but hadn’t drank much so as soon as I had it went, have been very lucky so far 🤞🏼
I am struggling to actually eat which I know sounds ridiculous because we’re striving for the food noise to disappear but we had a team lunch yesterday at a burger place - I had a burger no bun and maybe 5 sweet potato fries, could have really done without it. Got home and didn’t fancy dinner but that’s all I’d eaten all day - I tend not to eat breakfast. Today I’ve been trying to work and plan a party for tomorrow so been cleaning the house top to bottom, went to make dinner for everyone and realised it was 5pm and I’d had 2 rice cakes all day. Forced myself to have a bowl of cottage pie but didn’t even manage half. I know I’m not hitting my protein or water right now so feel like I’m doing everything a bit backwards and will probably end up holding on to more weight!

20bloodypounds · 04/10/2024 20:45

@HOL2024 why do you feel guilty? I assume that 450 calories is within your plan? OK a pizza has a lot of carb, not much protein, and you wouldn't want that to be your daily diet. But if you've been eating well and healthily the rest of the time then half a pizza OCCASIONALY is fine. I think that's one of the things I have to learn - that eating lots of pizza twice a week is part of what got me to this state - but that it doesn't mean I can never have pizza again. Without feeling guilty.

@HOL2024 I had a takeaway burger tonight and have also been feeling a bit guilty - BUT it's Friday night, I didn't also then eat tons of chips with it, and I got to have the end of week treat with my children rather than feel deprived and 'separate' - as I would often do. Previous me would be either all or nothing - stuffing my face or sitting there feeling deprived. Surely this way is better?

I'll be titrating up tomorrow but only to 3.75mg dose... I have had good suppression this week but a little hungry this afternoon/evening - but it meant I enjoyed a delicious smashed burger!

Feeling throughly fed up.

Did my 3rd 2.5mg pen yesterday after having 3 days of no suppression and have woken up starving
Belly rumbling and all thoughts of food :(

I'm the same. Great losses the first 2 weeks, 10lbs across the fortnight. I've done 4 weeks today and loss less than a pound across the second fortnight

Izzydogmum · 05/10/2024 07:30

Morning all!

Well what an eventful 24hrs. Thought after 5 weeks on this I was in a good place, husband suggested a Chinese, stayed away from the deep fried things....
yesterday TMI but I couldn't stay off the loo, felt awful and there is literally nothing left in my body to come out! So learnt my lesson, no takeaways on MJ!

SW: 304.6 (31/08)
CW: 286.6
Total loss: 18lbs

Wanted to go up to 5mg but pharmacy sent me another 2.5mg so will stick to that as weight is coming off.

Keep going everyone!!

HOL2024 · 05/10/2024 07:49

It’s the first takeaway I’ve had since starting so guess I shouldn’t feel guilty as such but seems to be a shame that I gave in.

Bonus dose is tonight and still weighing up insulin needle vs using the next pen needles that came with the 5mg

Weigh in this morning

Week 1 -6.8lbs
Week 2 -2.7lbs
Week 3 -4.1lbs
Week 4 -3.1lbs

Total loss - 16.7lbs

ILoveLeopard245 · 05/10/2024 08:12

Weigh in day for me and I have lost 3lb, so that is 12lb in 3 weeks.
I’ve ordered another 2.5 pen but I’m wondering if I should have gone up. Still losing on 2.5 so that’s why I just reordered but I’m now doubting myself!

85reasons · 05/10/2024 08:34

Weigh in day for me today - 15lb lost over 4 weeks - quite incredible.

Took a slightly random 4.15mg dose this morning from my new 5mg pen.

I've generally been unbelievably impressed so far with how this is working but most importantly I think for the first time I've started to make my peace with what it's like to spend your life battling with weight. That so many of us will have spent decades feeling like it's our fault, that we're weak and greedy and if only we could be morally 'better' like naturally slim people. Having now experienced a few weeks with little/no food cravings and having to constantly battle hunger in order to chip away at the problem, only to be back where you started after eventually caving in...... I realise it's just not the same for those people who don't suffer from that!

What led me to MJ was that I'd regained a couple of stone from a large weight loss 4 years ago and was struggling to be able to get "back in the zone" to lose it again. And so I was slowly getting bigger and bigger again and tipped into obese BMI. It was so depressing and I couldn't understand why my efforts weren't working. I'd have a few good days, then eat more normally for a couple of days, and be back where I started.

I think you should try reframing it not as that you "gave in" but you just had a weekend pizza and that's okay! You didn't do anything bad or wrong.

Thats a great loss - you are doing brilliantly. I have used the insulin needle and it was really easy.

Bellyblueboy · 05/10/2024 08:54

i Saw 11stone on the scale this morning🥳. Granted it’s 11st 13.8. But it’s 11 stone.

that’s 5lbs in 10 days.

it’s not huge I know - but it’s a start.

i think I was eating too little. 600. - 800 calories a day. Need to eat more.

Whoknowswhatanymore · 05/10/2024 09:10

I got my mounjaro mid September and since getting the jabs haven’t been able to use them because I’ve been ill with sickness bug and a nasty cold virus. They paused my subscription for me, which is great and I’m really wanting to start using them now but still have this lingering viral cold and feeling a bit lousy. Has anyone else taken them while having cold/ virus etc and been okay?

Bellyblueboy · 05/10/2024 09:19

I had a stinker of a cold when I took my first shot. I had a dull headache for the first three days. Paracetamol helped.

not even sure if this was a side effect of the Mounjaro or the cold. I was also really tired - again could have been the cold.

I find I sleep much better. I am in a week and a half and I am asleep by 10pm every night. I sleep really well, and have amazing vivid dreams! That is definitely an advantage.

I caught a horrific cold/flu just after taking jab 4. Even ended up at the Gp.

I have been quite poorly with it, but so have my colleagues who have it as well. So I don’t think it’s been better or worse for taking MJ while ill.

I am quite lucky that I haven’t had any really bad side effects from MJ, apart from constipation which I have found a solution for. If I hadn’t already started MJ when I got sick I might hold off like you have, because you don’t know if you will have any side effects or if you do have them how bad they will be. Worst case is that you take the MJ and start feeling sick or headachy on top of already feeling ill.

I've had a cold since about 2 weeks after the kids went back to school, gotta love the little plague bearers. I've just taken the MJ as usual and don't think it's caused any additional symptoms on top of the normal cold ones.
