I’ve had one glass of wine since starting MJ nearly 4 weeks ago ! I wasn’t a prolific boozer before but I’d have the odd g&t of an evening and mini Prosecco occasionally. I am finding eating meals challenging but I’m having smoothies with protein powder and lots of fruit. I make an effort to eat healthy things, haven’t weighed myself for two weeks but my bra seemed like I had room in it. It will be a relief to go down a size to something approaching normal. Lost 15cm from waist and my pants seem to be incredibly big - these small things are brilliant. I track my food intake on my phone in Notes.
I do find the inability to poo quite annoying as I was regular as clockwork before MJ. I suppose normal people don’t poo every day ? I’m doing all the right things re eating but I haven’t got the formula perfected.
I’m looking forward to next month and will weigh myself at the weekend 🤞🏼

So I am just off a work call where, in my humble opinion, I absolutely killed it. Coherent delivery of the things I wanted to say, reasoned responses to challenges I received, chipping in with relevant questions at appropriate times. I started a new job at the beginning of the year in quite a senior position and have felt a bit out of my depth, overwhelmed and fuzzy headed - but over the past few days I have felt so much more confident. It couldn't be the Mounjaro, surely?!

Sampler · 03/10/2024 13:23

@sylv165 I’ve been a bit more proactive too the last few weeks, just subtle changes - I’m wondering if the absence of food obsessing means we have more space in our brains ?!!

InfoSecInTheCity · 03/10/2024 13:25

First dose of 5mg tonight

Start Weight for MJ 208 lb
Goal Weight: 164 lb
Current Weight: 200 (199.9) lb

Week 1: 208 lb
Week 2: 204 lb
Week 3: 203 lb
Week 4: 200 lb

I started MJ a few weeks after starting low carb so my total loss so far is 18lb, 8lb of that while taking Mounjaro.

Gone from size 20 to 18 and starting to see my double chin shrink a little.

It could well be, it is very interesting that you feel the same. Not sure if it is that, or just a side effect from generally eating healthily and moving a bit more. Either way, long may it continue!

LucyBnotG · 03/10/2024 14:08

@sylv165 & @Sampler I've noticed something changing in the last month or so. I feel a lot more grateful and (only slightly) less pessimistic. E.g. during the torrential rains, I sit and think how lucky I am to have a house with a roof that doesn't leak or a cellar that doesn't flood. Historically I wouldn't take the time to be as grateful as I want to be and I'm seeing slight improvements in my general outlook.

I don't know if it's MJ related or if spending all this time, effort and money on me is shifting my priorities. Or perhaps it's the weight loss itself.

I'm glad that your noticing positive changes in your lives too.

20bloodypounds · 03/10/2024 17:41

So I tried to take my bonus dose today with the 'hard twist'. I thought it had worked OK, got the clicks to '1' but when I injected the plunger stuck, then I fiddled about a bit more and had another go. Upshot is that I don't actually know how much I had, if any. There appears to be some liquid (quite a lot) still remaining at the end of the pen - does that usually mostly disappear with the hard twist bonus injection?

So I've ordered insulin pens which should arrive tomorrow. The most I've heard people getting out of the bonus dose is 0.9ml. If there's 0.6ml left to syringe I'll assume I took a half dose today, and will inject a further 0.3ml.

Or maybe just see how I feel and if suppression is wearing off I'll start with the next pen.

But, I met a friend today who I haven't seen for weeks and she immediately said how well I looked, leaner in the face etc. Then of course she backtracked that I hadn't had a fat face previously (yes I did!) and got in a kerfuffle Grin. I just accepted graciously and said thanks, and that I'd been looking after myself. Which is how it feels.

Elephantino · 03/10/2024 17:56

Feeling like I need to come off the Facebook support groups. I seem to keep seeing people losing way much more weight than me and it's starting to make me feel is this right for me. I had lost 9lbs in 4 weeks but this week (week 5) I've gained and lost 4lbs through the week and weigh day tomorrow will probably show a stay the same. At any other time I'd be delighted with this weightloss over 5 weeks and I need to get this in my head.

My period has come 10 days early and I've been suffering very heavy bleeding with clots for the last 8 days, no sign of it stopping either. I'm on HRT so shouldn't bleed until I finish my 2 weeks progesterone phase on Friday.

Feel really moany and it's not like me, I'm usually positive.

EBoo80 · 03/10/2024 18:00

Sorry to hear it @Elephantino - is it worth a chat with GP? Have heard a few people say that it has changed their cycle.
FWIW, I held onto a good 4lb in the week before my period that then whooshed off once it was done. The two might well be related.

HippoPortlyMouse · 03/10/2024 18:12

@Elephantino have a moan, it's healthy to let out your feelings and this is a good place for it, we've all been (or will be) in a similar spot. I'm sorry you're not having a good time at the moment. It does sound like hormones kicking your butt right now. Those 4 pounds will be off for good soon - if not this week, then next, I hope. But go on a Facebook diet as well!

@20bloodypounds what a palaver! When I did my bonus dose it was really obvious, most of the liquid had gone from the pen, but I think I got lucky and my pen was really easy to hard twist (it wasn't actually hard) and injected as normal. Can you upload a pic and I'll compare it to mine?

85reasons · 03/10/2024 18:25

@Elephantino sorry to hear you're feeling flat - I had a week of little to no loss last week (week 3) and whilst I'm also on HRT had pretty much my first proper period in years that week; was all very odd. I'm coming to the end of week 4 and this week have lost 3 pounds so it's moving again. 9lb in 4 weeks is REALLY good, keep the faith because the scales will start moving again - this isn't like 'normal' dieting.

@sylv165 and @Sampler am also experiencing weird (good) moods and behaviours. Generally feeling calmer, more zen, yes more proactive and less procrastinate-y.

I think I'm going to try for 3.75mg dose on Saturday - I have a 5mg pen in the fridge, and have already ordered a 7.5mg one to arrive in November, but topped up my last week's dose a little and the suppression has been much better this week. I've barely eaten today (greek yog and roasted apple breakfast, small bit of cheese for lunch, bowl of prawns for dinner) and am a bit nervous about going up to 5mg dose straight away in case the appetite diminishes further.

@20bloodypounds yes that doesn't look like you've had a full dose. The little mark on the pen that I've circled in red is where the grey plunger was on my pen before I used the bonus dose. The line in blue is where the grey plunger was after my bonus dose.

Thanks @HippoPortlyMouse I'll see what happens tomorrow with an insulin needle.

suze12 · 03/10/2024 18:54

Hi all,

thanks to the poster who shared the link with all of the providers and their prices. I’m due to take dose 4 tonight so will need to order another pen soon (am planning to use the bonus dose next week so have a bit of time to consider who to order from). I think I’m going to order 5mg but aim for 3.75mg at least in the first week and see how I get on. I’ve been getting an awful headache for days after injecting 2.5 and don’t want this to worsen or I won’t be able to function at all at work.

after losing nothing last week I’m really pleased to say I’ve lost 4lbs this week so that’s a loss of 8lbs in 3 weeks. Yes it could be quicker but I genuinely haven’t felt like I’ve had to try or been on a diet whatsoever. I’ve said yes to every social occasion, family days out etc without depriving myself of anything I wanted. It is sooooo liberating!

Dose anyone else find calorie counting a real chore?

I have done it today just to check I am eating enough/not too much. But I found it real pain to scan everything then weight it. I have adhd so maybe it’s that’s why this is so infuriating. But even though I home cook, it made me realise that I have no clue how many calories are in things. Though I am well under my calories today. But I didn’t expect my lunch to be as many as it did. It was a chicken leg, roasted with a home made mustard honey sauce (no cream) some sweetcorn and 28g of feta. And it was 580cals.

and then on Sunday I am planning to meal prep my lunches as I am in the office a few days. Do I just measure everything put in and divide by how many meals I am making?

and what about if I cook meat on the bone, do I take it off the bone after cooking then weigh it?

am I over complicating this?

If you use my fitness pal then you can create recipes, you enter in all the ingredients and how much, then how many servings that made and it gives you the calories per portion.

Once you've been using MFP for a few days you'll see that items you eat regularly become favourite items which makes them easier to log.

Chicken legs/thighs I don't weigh, I just search for 'skin on chicken thigh' and select an option that has a green tick showing it's been verified as accurate.

SpiderMother · 03/10/2024 20:04

End of week four update - another 2.2 lbs off:

Height.- 5 ft 2
1/9/24 - 12 stone 3.7 (weight when registered - pm and after meal out)
5/9/24 - 11 stone 11.7 (1st injection - 2.5)
12/9/24 - 11 stone 7.1 (2nd injection - 2.5)
19/9/24 - 11 stone 5.5 (3rd injection - 2.5)
26/9/24 - 11 stone 2.5 (4th injection - 2.5)
3/10/24 - 10 stone 0.3 (5th injection - 5.0)
Week 4 loss - 2.2 lbs
Total MJ weight loss - 11.4lbs
Loss to date (including dieting before jabs) - 17.4lbs
Goal - 9 stone 7

So I'm still eating between 800-1000 and losing around 2lbs a week. Plan to do that for another 4 weeks then increase food a bit - basically fast 800. I think max for that is 12 weeks.

I'm really excited to see 10 something on the scales. That puts me the lowest weight I've been for since summer 23 (when I last dieted).

20bloodypounds · 03/10/2024 21:17

@SpiderMother I assume there's a typo in your chart and you haven't gone from 11stone 2.5 to 10 stone 0.3 Wink

I was encouraged by your post as I've just had a disappointing week 2, after losing 5lb in week 1 I have only lost 1lb this week. Here's hoping it picks up again next week, am due no3 jab tonight. Well done for your loss!

Happy Friday

1st 5 days of 5mg, and so far no side effects.

I can't believe how much Mounjaro has changed my attitude to food and drink. No chocolate urges at all which is incredible as that was my go to for stress/celebration/boredom.

It's great to learn of everyone else's successes.

Feeling throughly fed up.

Did my 3rd 2.5mg pen yesterday after having 3 days of no suppression and have woken up starving
Belly rumbling and all thoughts of food :(

Same here :(
My week 2 suppression ended by day 3. I am currently day 3 of week 3 and I am starving!!!
I am thinking about doing the bonus dose along with my 4th injection so I can move up to 5mg sooner.
