Hello, I’ve started today (literally 5 mins ago) and am SO excited.

I weight about 16st 7. However, I really don’t eat that much (honestly people are always surprised when they spend time with me) so I’m worried it won’t have that much effect…..

I've just started today (around 1.30pm) and weigh 16st9! Nervous and excited 🙈

Ilovegoodison · 25/09/2024 17:01

Took injection number 3 last night and weighed myself this morning. Another 6lbs down , so delighted with that, as it means I have lost 15lbs overall since starting.
The really noticeable thing for me is that it has removed my desire to snack completely, which was my nemesis, along with the nightly glass or two of wine habit. I still had wine over the weekend , but much less than normal. I have a night out with friends on Friday which is usually quite boozy, so my willpower will be put to the test a bit then, I think!
Have just ordered my next pen and am sticking on 2.5mg as it's worked well for me so far. I don't have many side effects fortunately apart from feeling a bit more fatigued than normal. I need to up my protein, I think which will hopefully help.

I've just picked up my first prescription!
I'm so nervous. I'm currently 14 stone and only 5"2.. Have a lot to lose.

Would you recommend taking the injection tonight or wait until tomorrow morning?

I'd just do it tonight. It's going to make very little difference what time of the day you do it so get it done before you can second thought yourself or psych yourself out.

You're right! Luckily, I'm in work tomorrow but I'm off Friday/Saturday so can be home if I start to feel rough!

Hildabaggins · 25/09/2024 17:51

I’m due my next injection tomorrow but I am feeling dreadful so I might delay it by a day or at least until the evening. I feel sick and I have a bad headache.

Sadteacher · 25/09/2024 17:59

Welcome to all the new starters! I’m looking forward to taking my new 5 pen dose on Friday - I’m even debating taking it a day early on Thursday. I’m fancying food again and am relying on willpower to turn down cake at work etc. I could have eaten it, a couple of weeks ago I couldn’t. It will still be 7lbs from my first few doses, not bad considering I haven’t felt much different.

Is there anywhere I can buy 6 new pen needles? I really don’t want a box of 100!

Alwaystired23 · 25/09/2024 19:21

I took my 1st 2.5mg dose last night. I have felt so sick today. I am really regretting it right now. I'm wondering what I have done to myself. I was feeling so positive about it all until now.

You may be alright tomorrow!

I was fine the first few days then head a bad day with headache and nausea and that's passed again now.

It's a horrible feeling but for most people it's not consistent or permanent.

Hope you feel better soon

Just took my first shot! Was planning on waiting until the weekend but it was in the fridge and I couldn’t resist!

24 hours in and cannot believe how this works - had a very small lunch at 3pm because I just wasn’t hungry beforehand. No temptation to even take a bite of the kids dinner - they left 4 slices of pizza between them and usually I’d have demolished that. Fried off some king prawns in soy & hot honey and served with a large portion of broccoli and courgette for dinner. Pushed myself to finish the prawns for protein but couldn’t manage all the veg. It’s like suddenly I actually understand hunger queues. What is this wizardry?!

20bloodypounds · 25/09/2024 21:36

@Alwaystired23 do you have any travel sickness pills in the house? someone on another thread advised using them for nausea. You can get them OTC in the morning if you still feel bad. There is no point in suffering from the side effects.

Same! Maybe the effects will wear off but I’ve eaten probably half what I normally would and don’t feel at all hungry - first 24 hours have been good anyway! Back to work tomorrow for an extra busy day, wondering how that will go.

20bloodypounds · 25/09/2024 21:40

@GoldieLocks09 isn't it surprising when it works like that!

I've just taken my 4th dose. I didn't have it this morning as I was going out for lunch but even 7 days after the last injection I can only eat smaller portions. I had 2 starters, rather than a starter and main, but couldn't finish the second starter or the side of lovely veg.

Took my injection mid afternoon and since then have only eaten one left-over sausage and 6 almonds. And lots of water.

I'm staying on this low dose for a bit longer because I think a higher dose might wipe my appetite completely.

suze12 · 26/09/2024 07:36

Morning everyone,

Week 2 weigh in this morning (but 8 days instead of 7 as I pushed my injection back by a day) and I haven’t lost a thing. I’m starting to feel really deflated. I lost 4lbs the first week which I was ok with but not over the moon about, and now nothing this week. I’m not someone who normally loses slowly and I can’t get my head around why it’s coming off so slowly when I am eating SO much less than I was before I started.

My diet could probably be cleaner but I’m drinking loads of water, no sneaky extra calories from milky coffees or anything else that can catch people out so I really don’t understand it. Period has finished now etc.

I do really love the lack of food noise and feeling full early but I don’t know if I can justify the cost and the banging headaches (I’ve had a really awful one for the whole week) for such little return on the scales.

I’m due my 3rd injection tonight so I’m going to see how this next week goes and hope for a whoosh. May buy one more pen just to see if 5mg moves things along more quickly but I can’t say I’m impressed so far.

I hope everyone else is doing ok!

mimosa1 · 26/09/2024 07:45

Hi @suze12 I'm told that 5mg is the clinical dose (2.5mg is to get used to the medication) so one has to wait to see how 5mg works before being able to really tell. I know it's frustrating though!

KittyGetSmall · 26/09/2024 07:50

Day 6. No headaches or nausea this morning so far. Really wanna take my next injection now as I snacked on a few things yesterday including brownies me and my daughter made 😖 Going to try to drink lots today for weigh in tomorrow and just have egg mayo salad for lunch and meatballs (with no pasta) for tea

Was banking on someone using my regeral code to be able to get my next pen reduced but had no luck. The referal thread is flooded and non of my friends/family can start it so am feeling a bit worried about finding the whole £160 for my next pen 😮‍💨

Sunbeamturtle · 26/09/2024 08:15

So day 2 and defo not kicked in for me yet as I woke up absolutely starving in the night. Which is actually odd as I’ve never done that before!

Thebirdsandthebeads · 26/09/2024 08:53

@KittyGetSmall You can shop around. There are cheaper ones out there. I've done that myself and I've stopped bothering about the ones that I need codes to be able to buy. Too much extra work and unpaid promotion for the company too.

@Sunbeamturtle It can happen but once you drink water or have a little bite of something - even a piece of carrot or one meatball - you'll find that you feel okay again like you've just had a full meal. Sometimes it's the body needing more hydration.

Hi,

I've just took dose 3 of 2.5, am same as you with eating 50% less, no snacking, gone really healthy, moving more, no wine, no hunger pangs etc - lost NOTHING so far!!!! 14s start weight.

49, diabetic, vegetarian, on various meds which don't help weight, and ZERO side effects on dose 3 - yay!

Hoping moving to 5 will help, as peed off so far, but can't get an appointment for a diabetic eye screening, so nurse won't move me up yet... sad times lol

Guess patience is needed, but at least my bloods have improved! 🙌

85reasons · 26/09/2024 12:25

Checking in - am 5 days into third week of jabs and for the past 24 hours or so feel like it's wearing off. I am getting hungry before the next meal and feeling able to eat normal quantities when I do eat. Yesterday went out for lunch with my team at work and was able to eat most of a big pizza 🤪

It's interesting to observe it all but I'm glad I've ordered 5ml for my next pen. So far I've lost 10lb and the suppression etc has been fantastic - but I'm not enjoying this return of hunger pangs. I just finished eating my lunch (tuna and big salad) and am already hungry!

InfoSecInTheCity · 26/09/2024 12:33

Jab day today so time for the weekly update

SW 217.5lb 19th August 2024
First jab - 5th September

Week 1 of MJ - lost 4lb
Week 4 - lost - 1lb
Week 5 - lost 2lb

CW - 201.7lb
Total loss - 15.8lb

Next big goal - move to 'Overweight' BMI which will be at 197 lb so at out 5 lb to lose

Justasmallgless · 26/09/2024 13:56

For those who aren't losing on the scales, please remember to measure ive lost 4 inches around my waist since starting nearly a month ago, so it's the real life wins too.

Also the drug works by slowing your gut down so food takes longer to digest and you feel full for longer, which is why you get constipation. Hence you may not being getting food processes in the normal way...
But this is the new norm for now so get those fibre tablets down you as well.

1-2lbs is healthy weight loss, anything above that is a bonus remember

mimosa1 · 26/09/2024 14:29

Checking in. I did a 1.25mg dose on Sunday and can feel the suppression wearing off today fairly markedly BUT I can't face the side effects of 2.5mg yet - at least until I get more used to the medication and have managed to change my day so that I can rest at home if the side effects kick.

One really interesting side effect is that I'm no longer craving caffeine in the same way at all. I usually constantly have a tea / coffee / Diet Coke on the go and I'm barely drinking any at the moment, which is a good thing. Must remember to drink more water though.

Morecoffeeforme · 26/09/2024 14:37

I’m due to take my 4th dose on Saturday and just wondering about this “bonus dose” everyone’s talking about.

so if you force the pen do you definitely get another week’s worth?

I’ve got some extra needles so can do it
