Just took my first 2.5 dose, considered not telling DH and then decided that I was a little bit nervous anyway so told him about it and he helped me do the ‘prep’ for the first time and read the instructions out as I injected. Good egg he is 🥚

Had dinner pretty much straight after - roasted salmon with S&P and removed the skin and spiralised a courgette fried in frylight - while DH had a creamy salmon pasta.

I did it about an hour ago, little bit nervous for side effects so feeling anxious for this evening / tomorrow. Did anyone get immediate side effects?

OvaHere · 24/09/2024 21:11

Week two complete. Not much of a loss compared to week one but I've been on my period so wasn't expecting a lot. Am under 14 st now though so yay!

SecondDesk · 24/09/2024 21:36

I keep mine in the fridge and have never bruised. I normally bruise because of other medications I take.

I had an upset stomach this morning. I have mainly been without side effects.

simb · 24/09/2024 22:36

Oof a lot of suppression today... really struggled to get to 1000 calories so I'll need to make an effort tomorrow to eat more. I'm determined to keep the nutrition up. Days 2&3 seem to be the highest suppression for me. Just did 2.5 jab 4 yesterday morning

simb · 24/09/2024 22:37

Just to add, my goal is around 1300-1400 per day but I don't like to go under 1200

20bloodypounds · 24/09/2024 22:46

@SecondDesk what are you finding hard - injecting into your stomach, or the whole programme?

20bloodypounds · 24/09/2024 22:50

@raspberrymeringue I hope you have a great holiday. The break away might give you time to think about your options for the future. Maybe you'll want to start with an extremely low dose to see whether you get any benefits whilst also having negligible side effects. Or maybe you'll decide that MJ just isn't for you. Good luck etiher way.

Forevermermaid · 24/09/2024 22:55

Quick check in - four weeks completed and I'm feeling so positive and motivated 🤩

Had my first 5mg jab yesterday morning - had horrendous reflux throughout the night but all settled down now and feeling much better. The suppression today has been so much more than I thought it would be!

I'm really enjoying noom too and logging my calories on there plus I've started regularly swimming again - really do feel like a different person! Such a long journey ahead but this time it just feels different 💪🏼

SW - 18st
CW - 17st 2lb
GW - 11st

SecondDesk · 24/09/2024 23:14

@Justasmallgless I love your meal plan.

@20bloodypounds I am finding the whole thing difficult. I am in a calorie deficit, still hungry, moderate weight loss.

I'm in week 3, started doing IF. I was doing 36 hour fast at the start of the year. I am trying 8/16 this week.

20bloodypounds · 24/09/2024 23:35

@SecondDesk I've found that mounjaro has helped me get back into a 16/8 intermittent fast pattern. Probably 6 days out of 7 I don't eat until lunch time. Towards the end of the 7 day period I probably could be tempted by breakfast but it's only a couple of days and I have enough will power (or things to keep me busy and distract me) to cover that.

Even though you feel hungry do you notice any other changes? Are you snacking less, choosing different foods? When you eat a meal are you feeling fuller earlier / having smaller portions?

I have been using a smaller plate (in the few days after an injection putting tiny amounts on a big plate just looked ridiculous) but as the impact wears off I'm sticking to the small plate, and finding it is enough food. I don't think 'enough' was part of my vocabulary!

I suppose at the end of the day, MJ and other medications are a weight loss aid, not a magic answer, and we still have to do some of the heavy lifting ourselves - whether that is making healthier choices, exerting a modicum of willpower, or riding through some unpleasant side effects.

SwiftiesVSLestat · 25/09/2024 05:44

Weigh in 3 and I am 2.2lb down. So 16lb in 3 weeks.

I still have a long way to go. I am planning on this journey taking me until at least christmas 2025. So 2lb a week is fine. The first week was massive but I think a lot of that was water weight.

4th injection done last night. Still not feeling any side effects (touch wood) so happily plodding along.

Hope everyone else is ok

loveulotslikejellytots · 25/09/2024 06:25

I'm mid way through week 3 and thankfully not many side effects apart from the awful tasting mouth sometimes. I I found week 1 strange, not much change and I still had the urge to binge eat. Not on the scale I would previously but I still over ate.

Week 2 seemed to settle down, and I've lost 5lbs over the first 2 weeks.

Now into week 3 and it's definitely working now. Yesterday I was so busy (day off, but had parcels to take to various places, food shopping to do, child forgot their PE kit so a dash to the school) I completely forgot to eat. I was doing the kids dinner at 5pm and had an apple with peanut butter, but I struggled to finish it all.

That's never happened to me before.

I made dinner which was chilli and rice (with spinach and avocado on the side) and I managed a small portion, but I really didn't want it.

It's such an alien feeling to me.

loveulotslikejellytots · 25/09/2024 06:34

One, maybe nice side effect I can only put down to Mounjaro is my hair doesn't get greasy as quickly???

I usually have to wash it every day without fail, it looks awful. I last washed my hair Monday morning, and it doesn't even need a squirt of dry shampoo yet.

Are you finding it hard because you are still hungry?

What are you eating and are you tracking it?

Also have you measured as I've stalled a bit but lost inches off my waist which am really chuffed about

sylv165 · 25/09/2024 07:53

Week 1 weigh in here and I have lost 5lbs:

SW 12st 2lbs
CW 11st 11lbs
GW 9st ish

Long way to go but I am delighted with that. I've never lost that might weight in a week before. Minimal side effects and just the right amount of suppression on 2.5 so far - I can eat but am full after about a third of my normal portion and have no desire to snack at all. I do tend to lose very slowly so I'm not expecting much this week, I'd be happy with 1lb, over the moon with 2lbs 🤞

20bloodypounds · 25/09/2024 08:06

@SwiftiesVSLestat I'm on the same timescale as you - 3rd weigh in today 10.5 lbs down over that time. The extra 0.5lb has delighted me because it takes me into the very top of the next stone bracket - little mini goals!

I'm taking dose 4 of 2.5mg today but I'm going out for lunch with a friend so I'll delay the injection until later this afternoon. I don't want to have so much appetite suppression that I can't do justice to a nice meal out.

My next order comes at the weekend and I've gone for a repeat of the 2.5mg dose. The first 3 or 4 days after each injection I am eating very small amounts and I need to make sure that I am concentrating on getting all the right nutrition. Also a bit scared of some of the side effects of increasing my dose.

mimosa1 · 25/09/2024 08:08

Hi everyone,

Reporting back as requested @raspberrymeringue . I've found the 1.25mg (not 1.75mg, clearly my divide by 2 skills aren't great Blush) much more tolerable than 2.5mg. I haven't had any nausea much less d&v and the suppression while noticeably less, had been absolutely fine. It will be interesting to see why that's meant in the scales when I get back from my trip. The only side effect I've really had was bad night sweats the night of the injection but not since.

sylv165 · 25/09/2024 08:10

Oh I have also discovered something that seems to be quite effective for constipation - a cup of hot water with half a lime squeezed into it each morning has sorted me out after a bit of a sluggish start!

raspberrymeringue · 25/09/2024 08:12

That’s good to hear @mimosa1 I hope your trip goes well. I’ve got a few weeks to give it careful thought, and decide whether to try again at a lower than 2.5mg dose.

doodleschnoodle · 25/09/2024 08:12

Week 3

SW: 203lbs
CW: 187.6lbs

15.4lbs lost, 3.3lbs this week which is pretty good as I had my period! Been a long time since I was under 190lbs.

I ordered the 5mg pen for when I'm done with this pen but actually I think I might just stay on 2.5 and not rock the boat while it's working so well.

Tipster100 · 25/09/2024 09:08

May I join you? I had my first dose on Friday night. Been fine so far - minimal side effects but definitely not at the point of leaving my food or not feeling hungry! But definitely much less noise and much more able to avoid snacking.

Today is 13 weeks exactly until Xmas day. If I were lucky enough to lose 2lb a week, that would be 26lb by Xmas which I would be really happy with. So holding on to that thought and hoping I can achieve it.

Thanks for all the info on here. It's been amazing.

Got my 4th dose of 2.5 coming up on Sunday and am deliberating whether to move up to 5 or stay on 2.5. I'm not feeling as much suppression this week and am feeling hungry for the first time. Haven't felt too many side effects on 2.5, some nausea and a bit constipated but nothing too severe.
What is everyone else thinking of doing?

Ah well done!

I ordered 5 pen for my next but really worried about it. Going to try and get the bonus dose out of the pen next week and see how it goes.

I might do half doses of the 5. It’s such a difficult decision!

I find my suppression peaks on a Saturday after a Tuesday injection which works good for me. Saturday is the day I would probably over eat out of the rest of the week.

YoureMyWifeNowDave · 25/09/2024 09:47

Hi, I took my 3rd 2.5mg dose yesterday, feeling ok so far this week, my side effects were quite bad after my first dose so I actually left it 2 weeks before doing my second jab. I’m down around 6 or 7 lbs since starting which is really good for me as I’ve been a very slow loser since perimenopause kicked in.

Still debating whether to stick with 2.5 or order 5 for my next pen, I will have to miss a dose at the end of October as I’m going on holiday and I haven’t told anyone about starting MJ and I’m worried about having side effects while away

I have been thinking about this too. The 5 is the same price as the 2.5 so my thinking is that I may as well order the 5 with a view to taking a half dose. That way I still have the option of going up to 5 if I feel the effects waning
