Mounjaro - Late September Starters

I see so many threads for people who all started about the same time as each other and think it must be good to have people at similar stages that you can share stories with and go through it all together.

There is a Sept thread but those guys have all started already.

Anyone due to start in the second half of Sept that would be interested in a thread?

I am just waiting delivery of my first pen today but don't plan to inject until Sunday evening. I WFH so cannot work out if having the 'worst' of any side effects ruining the weekend is better/worse than having to work through them on Mon/Tue. However, I have a couple of weekend social things coming up and decided it might be easier to do them when my previous injection is starting to wear off a bit - so Sunday nights it is!

@FelicityBeedle sounds like one of those being exposed/failed to revise for an exam/pack for holiday dreams.

Has anyone stayed on 2.5mg for a second month? I am really struggling this week. I feel sick all the time and barely want to eat. I am forcing food in I don't want any stronger appetite suppression. I'll need to order by the end of the week and I am unsure now.

Cocoaone · 08/10/2024 17:49

@Marble02031 I'm only on week 2 day 4. But I think it's likely I'll stay on 2.5 next month, I'm thinking about lowering the dose for week 3.
I'm still struggling to eat enough (it's slightly better this week compared to last) but also have very mild nausea this week too.

Some people order the 5mg pen and count clicks (30, I think) to get a 2.5mg dose. Then you have the option to go up if you find 2.5 stops working part way through the month.

ShiftAMountain · 08/10/2024 17:55

Both decided that unless you had severe health issues you should try other forms of healthy eating first.

I think they are right. If you are very overwieght and have never ever tried eating healthily then that's probably the place to start. Of course, if you are very overweight and an adult, then you've almost certainly already tried that a million bloody times! I can only assume they thought they were broadcasting to an audience of non-adults😂

@Marble02031 for me the 5mg was £6 more expensive than the 2.5mg so I went for it, thinking I could always just use part of a dose if it proved too much - and I wouldn't have wasted much money.

That's a good point, have you started 5mg yet?

I think that's a good idea to get the 5 and see, I am fed up of feeling sick this week.

ShiftAMountain · 08/10/2024 18:13

No - I am due to start in a couple of weeks. There was a good offer on I wanted to grab so I ordered a bit early for a delivery closer to the time - hence the need to try and estimate if I'd be ready for the 5mg or not.

I’m due my third dose tomorrow evening and will be ordering the next one (5mg) at the end of that week unless it goes really wrong.

I am ordering some spare needles if I order the next dose as I’m tempted to slowly increase the dose based on how I’ve been this last two weeks.

thinking just under 3.75 first week, 2 x 3.75 and 2 x 5? So 5 doses from it but build up to that scary 5… it’s just an idea right now though. Anyone else doing/done similar?

Sunbeamturtle · 08/10/2024 21:18

I had very vivid dreams again last night, dreamt I was pregnant then breastfeeding and my whole family came round

I read that as breastfeeding the whole family at first @FelicityBeedle!

That's frustrating @10storeylovesong - are you tracking your calories to see if you're eating too much/not enough? Having enough protein and water?

If it helps, I'm wk2 day 5 and still having to force myself to eat enough and feel nauseous on and off through the day. So it's not plain sailing having the appetite suppression here.

Are you going to go straight up to 5mg after wk4, or go up a bit more slowly?

Has anyone been fine and then have side effects out of nowhere? Wk 2 day 4, had no side effects at all before. Was ok this morning, bit tired, had yoghurt and fruit for breakfast and then had to pull over on the way to work to throw up! Came back home, had one bout of diarrhoea but now seem ok, just delicate. I’m assuming side effects rather than bug?

I was the same (except the other end) week 2 day 2; it was over in 24 hours and I had a milder version wk 3 day 2, now on day 5 and ok. Seems to be a brief flare up for me a couple of days after the jab, but otherwise ok. Feeling increasingly tired though - anyone else?

Pashazade · 09/10/2024 08:33

Took my 3rd dose late last night, horrible stomach cramps at 3am. So 8lbs down since I started (as of this morning).
Hoping soup for lunch won't cause cramps, will probably miss breakfast, but haven't seen this weight in 18 months and before that it was 2019! That is why I'm doing this the same stone of weight up and down for 5 years!

ShiftAMountain · 09/10/2024 08:37

That sounds really tough @10storeylovesong . The only suggestions I have is to check what you are eating aginst what you theoretically need to consume eat day to check you're not undereating and that adding in a couple hundred more calories might help?

Or change your injection site? Not sure if you've tried that but I spotted on one of the other threads someone shook up a stall by using their arm instead of their stomach or thigh?

@flobbynomore I am a little bit more tired on the mj than I was off it. Not so much it interupts my day, but just so the tiredness is always kinda there at the back of my mind.

Hi everyone!

Start of week 3 for me. Weighed this morning and lost 6lbs so I'm happy with that considering I didn't lose in week 1 due to holidays. I'm hoping to get a good few days of suppression before weekend. Really want to stay motivated. Have been using my peloton and loving it - I'm hopeful this is the start of something too!

Hope everyone having a good week. Some fab losses.

SW pre MJ 18,7
SW going onto MJ 16,10
CW 16,4
GW 10,7

Would love to see 15 stone next week at some stage!!

lespameo · 09/10/2024 08:49

I took week 3 2.5mg dose on Monday night. I've lost 5lbs in 3 weeks which isn't bad considering I've had good days and bad days. Definitely snacking much much less and drinking a lot more water than before (although still need to drink more). I've really curbed my Pepsi max addiction too. Down to 1 glass per day which is unheard of!
Ordered my 5mg pen but will also be taking the extra dose, I think.

Sw - 13st 7
Cw - 13st 2
Gw - 11st 7

Cocoaone · 09/10/2024 09:01

@10storeylovesong oh that's sounds like a pretty bang on diet to be fair! I get your frustration. Can you try something for the constipation - fybrogel or psyllium husk is good, maybe getting rid of that will help. Although I find kiwi fruits have the same affect, but I'm mildly allergic so can't have too many

I am losing - 6.4lb in week 1 and so far 2.4 in week 2 but I'm a daily weigher and it's stayed the same for the past 3 days. But imagine it'll be 3lb by next official weigh day. Only averaging 1000 cals per day though which is hard going and I want that up to 1200 minimum ideally.

@peonym - I peloton too! Well, I haven't recently because I'm already in a massive calorie deficit and don't want to increase it. But hopefully we'll get back to it once I can eat some more. I should probably start some strength classes to minimise muscle loss.

I have definitely found that I feel weaker during my exercise class, and more tired afterwards. I do weights and I was doing my normal one leg deadlifts today with 18kg and I could barely finish the set. Makes sense and I’m prepared to put up with this for the weight loss but it reminds me to make sure I get enough protein.

AussieMum135 · 09/10/2024 09:25

@10storeylovesong have you tried prunes? I find them really tasty and they may help get things moving for you. You must be so uncomfortable 🙁

When my son was younger I found apple and pear blitzed in a smoothie helped too.

Ozgirl75 · 09/10/2024 09:28

Dates are good too @10storeylovesong I quite like a Brazil nut pushed inside a date. In fact I can only eat two or three otherwise it’s too much for my insides to cope with!
i was terribly constipated when I was pregnant and I would have stewed apple and prunes in natural yogurt with sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds and blueberries for breakfast. Made sure I really chewed up the seeds and this seemed to keep things moving.

Ozgirl75 · 09/10/2024 09:30

The only thing I can think of with you (lovely and healthy sounding) diet is that both eggs and chia seeds are “binding”, and I wonder if that’s causing the problem.
