So sorry about your DP @Jimmyneutronsforehead I hope he gets well soon! Will he have to come off?

I’ve weighed in today and lost 2lbs:

SW: 22st 11lbs
CW: 19st 6.8lbs
GW: 14st 10lbs (for now)

I am however on holiday now for a few days so not sure what that will mean for this week!

Marmalade100 · 19/09/2024 20:08

Hello all - could I ask some advice please ? I am on 7.5, second dose tomorrow, so 9 or 10 weeks in. Lost 2 stone which Im thrilled about. I had horrific side effects on 5 but fine so far on this dose. My start weight was 14,2 and top end of my Healthy BMI is 11 so I/m 1 stone 2 pounds off but I'd like to get to 10. After a really fast start I am losing now about 3 pounds a week. Anyway my issue - I'm with Zava and they don't issue once you're at 25 BMI. I have 3 doses left in this pen and even if I go down to 2 a week I could get fairly close to 11 and a half stone. I can order 2 weeks ahead with Zava so my query is do I do a single pen now and hope I'll be accepted at the close weight or maybe do the double pens they do. Maybe a 7.5 and a 10 ? What do people , esp Zava people think pls ?

Yeah the doctor says he can't restart it.

The risk of serious complications isn't insignificant with pancreatitis, but to be honest he has had a pretty poor diet and lifestyle that could be equally responsible for causing the pancreatitis. He grew up in a house where everything was a carb cooked in oil and has had a history with alcohol too.

You can't go back in time though and he made some lifestyle changes and just thought mounjaro would be the next tool in his lifestyle change just like all of us but he's reacted badly to it.

It's not put me off but I will be very vigilant about symptoms.

@Jimmyneutronsforehead So sorry to hear about your DP, that is indeed bad luck. Hope he's ok

Waspwine · 19/09/2024 20:33

Jimmyneutronsforehead · 19/09/2024 19:49

DP started his MJ journey 2 weeks ago, and has been admitted to hospital tonight with pancreatitis and complications.

Been trying to keep him in good spirits by turning it into dark humour that if we didn't have bad luck we'd have no luck at all, with a 0.2% chance of this happening, but just popping on as a precautionary tale I suppose.

Make sure you take any intense stomach pains seriously.

In true form to him though, stubborn as a mule, probably could have avoided complications if he'd just listened and gone to the hospital 4 days ago.

How awful,I hope he’s ok!!! Make sure you keep rested and look after yourself whilst looking after him x

SnacklessWonder · 19/09/2024 20:35

@Waspwine I'm the same height as you. My SW was 11st 7.8lb and my goal is 9st or thereabouts. I'll still have a tummy and chins at that but I'll be more of a size 10-12 and that's fine. I can't maintain much under 9st it's too hard and I don't want that constant struggle.

I'm with Medexpress but I'm not going to go onto a maintenance dose when I get where I want. I've been making lifestyle changes and I plan to keep that up now!

MamaBearH · 19/09/2024 21:22

QueenOfHiraeth · 19/09/2024 17:19

@MamaBearH It is also a concern of mine that MedExpress allow ordering without as many checks as some other providers, sometimes after only 2 weeks when the pen is 4-weekly.

I know it feels like reassurance to have a pen or two in hand and I ended up with one extra when I ordered a 10mg but then decided to stay on 7.5mg but I had to speak (webchat) with my provider to explain it and they sent a lot of information about side-effects and what to do next with the extra pen. If you were the type of person I am increasingly seeing on TikTok you could be reselling those or sharing them with someone who would, in a perfect world, not be taking it. Their systems should be strong enough to spot it

To be honest I was impressed with MedExpress cause they ask lots of questions, contact your GP and check again before issuing the next pen. My first provider only asked height and weight. They didn't ask about conditions or other meds etc. They didn't ask for photos or anything. As soon as you paid they sent straight away. Compared to them MedExpress feel like a legit outlet. I just worry with some of the things people are saying they could cease to trade then I'll be back at square one looking for a new provider.

QueenOfHiraeth · 19/09/2024 21:31

@MamaBearH That's terrible Who was your first provider?
My first one was Chequp and they were really rigorous, four weekly ordering with lots of questions.

I now get it from a smaller pharmacy group as they are local to me so I can collect rather than have it delivered which is more convenient. If anything that is more rigorous as I answer all the online questions then they see me and chat when I collect it!

Waspwine · 19/09/2024 21:59

@SnacklessWonder i agree, below 9 is a struggle for me and I feel and look better at that weight or thereabouts.

I am loosing so slowly though and trying to keep motivated! hopefully I will be at goal weight by the end of November beginning of December. Getting a good healthy eating regime in now is what I’m working on.

MelainesLaugh · 19/09/2024 22:55

My boobs have shrunk! I always lose weight first there but it’s so noticeable. I was hoping This might have been different but nope, still off the boobs only!

The suppression on 5mg is incredible for me. I can barely eat

LittleEsme · 19/09/2024 23:03

Hello. I've just logged into my account with MedExpress and cannot see how to order the 5mg pen. I've had 4 weeks on 2.5mg but feel that I need to up the dose. How do I do this?!

MooFroo · 19/09/2024 23:43

@QueenOfHiraeth tuank you so much. I’m working on my water intake - keep forgetting to drink it so have set alarms as reminders

same with my tracking - I’ve struggled to log and stick to it so been trying to do that more

will stick with 5mg and get the water and tracking sorted before going up a dose

wondabar · 19/09/2024 23:45

I started Mounjaro at the end of the June and have dropped a stone. Did two lots of 2.5mg and am now on my second month of 5mg. I lost a lot of weight in the first two months but haven't seen much change on the 5mg and am craving and eating food much more. I felt great for the first two months but am now feeling and seeing that I am not losing much weight. Feeling quite disheartened to be honest and wondering whether it is all worth it. Having lost the food cravings they are all coming back. Injected myself yesterday and have been trying hard not to snack, but had a huge urge to do so.
Have asked to speak to my provider but have not heard a squeak from them. Should I move to 7.5mg and if so, can I move to another provider who may be more helpful?

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 20/09/2024 06:38

I have stayed the exact same weight for three weeks, and I mean exact - down to the ounces. In that time my movement has increased so I really should have lost something. I don't get it. The drug is still working well. 🤷🏻‍♀️

My advice would be to Prioritise protein and hydration aim for at least 100 mg of good quality protein a day. Track calories and then move up to 7.5mg after you used your 5mg pen up. Not everyone responds to the first two lower doses of MJ.

Best wishes to your husband @Jimmyneutronsforehead , I am so sorry to hear that. I am glad he's in hospital now. If you don't mind my asking, what were his early symptoms that he ignored?

I really hope he is feeling better soon and that he's taken care of well in hospital.

GlueNoGlue · 20/09/2024 07:49

Has anyone had a problem getting the needle to go in? I’ve gone to inject in my stomach and the needle was literally pressing the skin in but not piercing it? Tried three times but the needle was just pressing down without going in. I decided it must be the needle so switched needles and moved to my thigh (where I usually inject) and struggled to get it in again. Ended up pressing it down hard which hurt and now the area is sore? I’ve been on MJ for 6 months so I know what I’m doing and I’ve never had any issues with this? It’s not a new set of needles, I’m halfway through the set and obviously it was a brand new needle opened today.

His earliest symptoms were no appetite at all, which we brushed off as being thr mounjaro but he has only had 2.5mg doses so it was a bit strange to not be able to eat anything at all for days. Then he did eat some really oily roast potatoes at his aunts house on Sunday. Later he had a little bit of a tummy ache, but by Monday he was bedbound with it. Didn't have the typical pain that goes through to your back, said he couldn't specify where the pain was exactly. Didn't manage to get his temperature but he has been sweaty.

On Wednesday he managed to get a GP appointment who said it was probably a stomach ulcer and gave him some omeprazole and some sort of anti sickness tablets, he said its so painful please can I have some pain killers and they said no because they slow your digestion so it will make it worse, so he took the script, got home, threw it all up again, then decided yesterday morning it was time to concede being stubborn and call 111 who told him the exact same thing every one else had told him which was this is not a normal amount of pain go to the hospital. He got a swift CT scan, and they said pancreatitis with gallstones and blocked ducts so possibly also his gallbladder which theyre checking by ultrasound today, stop taking the mounjaro, no more fat or sugar, no alcohol ever again and eat more salads for that raw fibre.

He's not slept a wink last night but I'm going to get his cpap machine to him today and an eyemask and earplugs.

@LittleEsme go to your account > patient record > reorder this treatment. Complete the questionnaire, most questions will remember your original answers, then you can select the dose you wish to buy.

I think the needles suppliers send are of varying quality and occasionally you may get a blunt one.

I've used three different suppliers and I think you don't always get the same brand needle even if you are with the same supplier. All my needles are in a bag together and I just randomly take one out when I do an injection. Usually if I slightly release my grip on the pen while the needle is against my skin, gravity makes it painlessly slide in. But this week and once before I have had to push it more to pierce the skin and it stung a bit. I wasn't sure if it was the needle or my flesh there being a bit different / scar tissue from a previous jab. But it's happened twice in about 28 weeks so not a major issue.

NippyCrab · 20/09/2024 09:27

@Jimmyneutronsforehead how is your Husband today? That's really scary, I hope he recovers quickly and you get him back home.
I've weighed in and lost a wee 6oz, for the first time on MJ I've had terrible constipation this week, lactulose is starting to work. I'm normally okay and u take co codamol regularly. I've asked the same question on the other thread but I was wondering if different injection sites give different side effects. I was jagging my thighs but switched because I got the rash, I did my tummy last week and now constipated, still got a wee rash and it's a dark patch now.
Onwards we go, I'll jag my thigh again today and monitor my water and fibre intake. Xxx

Different injection sites definitely have different effects. I also get constipation in my tummy but I feel like when I do my leg it doesn't have as much of an effect.

He's trucking on today but he feels in complete despair about his future diet choices. He's got a lot of sensory sensitivities that mostly surround vegetables, and the thought of eating them roast, or stir fried, or steamed or even raw makes him want to heave on the best of days but the doctor has been very clear that he needs high protein and high natural fibre so lots of mixed cooked and raw vegetables otherwise next time he might not be so lucky.

I could eat hummus and celery every day for the rest of my life and be content but there's nothing appealing like that to him.

He's not allowed significant portions of rice or pasta any more, buy the doctor said he could have pasta salads as long as they're not sauce laden because the sauces are usually high sugar. Trying to frame it as positively as I can that this is probably the lifestyle change that was needed before the pancreatitis so the pancreatitis itself has only forced his hand and we will get on with it together and to think of it like trying food from another country, you just have to keep trying till you find the things you like.

Oh my gosh, that sounds so stressful. Also so frustrating as sounds as though maybe if it had been caught earlier it would have been easier to treat.

I hope he's able to sleep okay tonight, hospitals always feel like they are the antithesis of anywhere you'd choose to go to recover from anything.

Mayfair Clinic -my neighbour told me about the jabs & that clinic so I stupidly ordered quite quickly. Before it even arrived I joined groups & researched then realised I shouldn't have paid £175. Lesson learned.

Looking for advice please, I’ve had good steady weight loss since starting in June. I moved up to 7.5 dose 3 weeks ago and each week have had horrible side effects for 3 days afterwards (upset tummy &sulphur burps) when I’d not had many symptoms at all previously. Great for weight loss but it’s no good for functioning over busy weekends with kids. I’m planning on just taking slightly less than 7.5 this week to see if it eases symptoms a bit.

Could anybody tell me many clicks is in a full 7.5 dose? I’m thinking 60 clicks but just want to check.

Thanks.
