I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

My pen is arriving today so I am going to do the first injection tonight. I coincidentally had a GP appointment today with my lovely GP who has been helping me with perimenopause issues. I said to her I was planning to do this and wanted to check and she was extremely positive, said it was a shame they can't prescribe it but that her experience is that people have excellent results and it has other health benefits, so to go for it. Its nice to have medical sign off from someone I trust not just an internet doctor.

My starting stat are:

Height.- 5 ft 2
1/9/24 - 12 stone 3.7 (weight when registered - pm and after meal out)
5/9/24 - 11 stone 11.7 (1st injection)

Goal - 9 stone 7

Hello all

If this is not a silly question, please can I ask what you wore in the photo you submitted for your medication? I keep getting rejected from Med Express with my photograph.

thank you so much for your help

They seem to want you to wear tight fitting clothes so they can see your body shape. I wore leggings and a vest top - that was with Oushk and I got approved. I don't think you need to show your face (unless your provider specifically wants it). I'd rather not show my ugly mug on camera especially when it's a fat photo!

This isn't true sorry. My medexpress photo got rejected because it didn't show my face.

I also had a few goes at MedExpress before i was accepted! One because my face wasn't clear enough, then one because the clothes weren't tight enough.

I ended up in leggings and a sports bra. And yes, as @GargoylesofBeelzebub says, definitely MedEx need face showing. I went for a cheesey grin!

First pen arrived this morning, so jabbed in and ready to go. Painless! Even though I was a bit apprehensive.

Lots to lose, but looking to do so sustainably, and get moving again - especially to build up some strength as perimenopause has whacked me at the moment.

Starting weight - 98kg
Targets:
Out of 90s! and 10% - 88kg
20kg down and 20% - 78kg
Down to 'overweight' - 74kg
Down to 'healthy' - 62kg

I wore a sports bra and cycling shorts...I made sure my stomach hung over the waist band, and I just let my stomach muscle go leaving nothing to the imagination! Just remember nobody else is ever going to see this!

I was hungrier yesterday and ate around 1800 calories which is fine, but today I'm still completely full and therefore skipping breakfast and going straight to lunch so it'll all even out over the week. Feeling really positive that even when eating out I stopped when I was full and didn't fancy pudding!

Itisallgoingtobeok · 05/09/2024 12:02

Had my first injection last night. Little bit queasy this morning, but it has killed my appetite stone dead. So far, so good.

HippoPortlyMouse · 05/09/2024 12:17

@GargoylesofBeelzebub fair enough, different providers have different requirements. I am glad mine didn't want a full face shot and was happy with a side on view with me looking away!

BatFacedGirlll · 05/09/2024 12:22

Hello! Just dropping by with my story that I've shared over a couple of threads now but I like reading about how others are getting on who are further down the line from me so hopefully it'll help someone out there! And good luck to you all!

I started in April weighing 14 stone 12 lbs. I'm just over 5 ft 3. I've always just injected 2.5mg (too scared of side effects such as feeling sick to go up a dose!) but what I do now is inject the 2.5 twice a week. So I suppose you could say I'm splitting a 5mg dose in two to try and avoid feeling unwell.

I'm currently 10 stone 8 ish and my weight loss has slowed quite a bit. Although I weigh daily, I only look at my loss over a 30 day period - so in August I lost a total of 8 lbs - and for the first fortnight of August it was not a single lb loss! So it's important to look at your losses over a longer period such as a la entire month as they do add up

I've attached some of my progress pics

Can I join??
I'm supposed to be starting tomorrow. I am shitting myself. I'm a severe emetophobe and have been reading about side effects on Reddit and I think I am talking myself out of it.
But, I'm 41, 18.7 stone, diabetic with sleep apnoea. I've had a hysterectomy so am in full blown menopause and cannot shift weight, in fact I've gained a stone since my operation 3 months ago.
I'm in a desperate situation but I'm literally sitting here crying because I'm so scared of the side effects. I don't know what to do Sad

piscofrisco · 05/09/2024 14:34

I still haven't jabbed myself Confused. I really need to find some courage from somewhere :(

Dmsandfloatydress · 05/09/2024 14:52

24 hours in and I'm feeling suppression of appetite but nothing else. Yay! Office cake of no interest to me just eaten six mouthfuls of overnight oats all day! Really weird.

Leggings and an oodie for me

Belindabelle · 05/09/2024 15:27

@BatFacedGirlll you look amazing.

Do you buy two 2.5 pens a month or do you take a smaller dose from a 5ml pen?

I am still waiting on my first order arriving. If it doesn’t come today I probably won’t start until next Tue.

I have been doing IF and fairly low carb this week as I am in the mood and determined to get this weight off. Also cutting out alcohol for a good few weeks too.

Hi @alwaysscared I hope you're ok. I think you've just got to remember that the priority is your overall health, and losing weight is the priority.

exusername · 05/09/2024 16:27

Just the thread I was looking for! Hi everyone 😊

After putting it off for the last few weeks, I’ve finally done it. Had my first jab yesterday 2pm. So far so good. Not experienced anything in the way of side effects so hoping it continues that way!

I’m not a breakfast person (just coffee in the mornings) so normally by lunchtime I’m quite hungry but it’s now past 4pm and I’ve just realised I’ve not had anything to eat today except a banana and I don’t feel hungry. Not sure if it’s psychological or the jab already having an effect.

Look forward to sharing this journey with you all and celebrating many wins along the way!

Justasmallgless · 05/09/2024 16:29

Please don’t do that it will be fine don’t think just because other have had side effects you will. I doesn’t work like that and if you do the worst from my reading is nausea upset stomach or headache which I bet could also be the change in diet as this is a tool and most I’ve noticed have drastically changed how they eat. Mine so far has been very dry mouth and slight nausea and the strangest thing I don’t fancy food ( never in my life has that happened) what have you got to lose oh yeah weight like all of us so let’s do this together 🥴🥴🥴

jollyfedup · 05/09/2024 17:09

@BatFacedGirlll Wow that's amazing! Congratulations and inspiring to see at the start of our journeys.

Yesterday was out for dinner and it was a bizarre experience without all the food noise! No umming and ahhing about starters/desserts, just ordered the main I wanted and ate until I was full, still had some left food over too which never usually happens! It felt nice to concentrate on catching up with my friend over than just being focussed on the food.

I'm on day 3 now- this afternoon is the first time I've actually felt hungry and my stomach rumbled! I think because I'm quite tired due to sleeping badly (my toddler up at 4am!) and then a full on day. I've just had a kiwi fruit and considered boiling an egg but think I can wait until dinner at 7pm. Perhaps because I haven't had any eggs today?! As both previous days were 3 eggs each day.
Apart from the morning of day 1 where I felt really queasy/had reflux, no side effects. I think maybe because I hadn't eaten that morning it made me feel worse. Feel calmer I don't know why!

Based on a suggestion on another thread I have bought some travel sickness pills. Fortunately I haven't felt at all sick and haven't needed them but I felt much less anxious knowing they are there...

Purplehearts757 · 05/09/2024 17:39

Sadteacher · 05/09/2024 17:40

@Sparklepunk i gave up after 2 rejected pics and put my swimsuit on. As tight as possible I think!
@BatFacedGirlll thanks so much, I’m at the end of weekly one and will probably be a pound down if I’m lucky. Your message was so encouraging!
@CelestialNexus i have my first weigh in tomorrow too. I have cut down my wine a lot but not stopped.

Today (day 6) was the first day I felt hungry driving home from work. Looking forward to jab 2 tomorrow.
