I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

@wohmum @gargoylesofbeelzebub Isn't it such a strange thing to just stop eating when we've had enough? I had a small bowl of soup tonight then only put a couple of spoonfuls of the main on my plate. Dh was incredulous "that's a tiny amount". But it was just perfect.

And I bought a single 185ml bottle of wine. And that was enough too.

I don’t think 'enough' was in my vocabulary before MJ. I hope it becomes a life-long lesson, but time to worry about that way in the future. For now I am taking it as it comes.

Edited

It makes me realise that I would eat just because the food was there. Not because I wanted it or needed it.

I'm really hoping that these experiences will help me reset my relationship with food and alcohol once I have reached my goal weight and come off mounjaro.

MetabolismLost · 15/09/2024 20:51

Slightly strange side effect for me, my urine seems to have a greasy film to it. Anyone else finding this? Google seems to say it could be ketosis, which is probably it as my carb intake has dropped rather.

SpiderMother · 15/09/2024 20:57

So get what you mean about enough. I’m away for a few days. Ate out tonight and I feel so full but in reality I had half a starter and half a dessert and it was more than enough. Restaurant portions are stupidly big and I don’t want to feel obliged to eat everything anymore.

terriblyangryattimes · 15/09/2024 21:27

I made a grave error last week and accidentally Injected my husband's 2.5 dose instead of my 7.5 (he just started 2 weeks ago) so now we've got to work out how to fix that so he doesn't loose a week...possibly by forcing the last dose out of his pen after 4 proper doses. I did wonder why I felt hungrier earlier in the week than I was used to. What an idiot I am.

On the plus side I've dropped a dress size so have been browsing Vinted for some new jeans and dresses.

AutumnJ0y · 15/09/2024 22:05

Hi All, it's been 3 days since my first jab of 2.5 and I caved in and weighed myself. Delighted to report a 1.3kg loss (almost 3lbs I believe!) I'm so over the moon and surprised at how quickly it's worked! I must say the appetite suppression hit hard almost immediately and I'm hoping it continues. My portion sizes have reduced drastically, I feel full almost immediately, so I've not been able to eat much. I've just been having a small breakfast, coffee over lunch and then a small dinner. I know I must eat more but for now I think it's fine as I've probably been eating for England over the last few years so a few days without food won't hurt! No real side effects so far Smile

Good Morning Everyone! I hope everyone has a great day fighting the good fight and climbing the weight loss mountain!

suze12 · 16/09/2024 07:55

Morning all,

I’ve had a mixed weekend. Despite saying I wouldn’t drink alcohol whilst using Mounjaro I had a couple of glasses of Prosecco & a glass of wine on Saturday at a friend’s house. I surprisingly felt ok yesterday after a good night’s sleep. Food wasn’t great, I hadn’t eaten much during the day so was picking at the crisps and snacks. I didn’t go mad at dinner and tried not to eat too many carbs but I still probably ate more than I would have liked, plus dessert….

Yesterday we went to a pop up event and it had lots of cake stalls, ice cream van etc. it was very strange I wasn’t bothered about it at all whereas usually I wouldn’t have been able to resist. I had 2 medium slices of wood fired pizza and I was satisfied.

Today is day 6 and I’ll be interested to see what my appetite is like as I approach the next injection being due. I’m clearly not one of the people who experience high levels of suppression at 2.5 but there is definitely something happening. After a sneaky peak on the scales I’m not expecting a huge loss this week but I’ve got to stop chasing the huge losses I would see previously on VLCD because I wasn’t learning any healthy habits on those diets and they were so antisocial I wouldn’t have been able to join in with the things I did this weekend, and that’s worth a lot to me after years of missing out due to my latest diet.

Hope everyone has a good week.

OvaHere · 16/09/2024 08:16

Morning,

It's Week 1, Day 6 here and it's gone pretty well so far. Woke up feeling quite hungry this morning and had to eat something straight away. Yesterday I found I was able to eat slightly larger quantities than I've been able to all week so it's definitely wearing off in readiness for Tuesday's dose.

Not weighed yet. I'm trying to hold off until tomorrow. My stomach feels a bit flatter though.

jollyfedup · 16/09/2024 08:36

Second week weigh in done and I lost 3lbs! It doesn't seem much compared to the 8lbs loss in my first week but I am reminding myself it is still going in the right direction and each week will be different. I feel like I felt the appetite suppression more this week and my portion size is so much smaller. We went to Nando's and I didn't even fancy chips which is not like me at all haha! I need to reorder this week and not sure whether to stick at 2.5 for another month or go up to 5. Does anyone know what would the pros and cons be of sticking at 2.5?

20bloodypounds · 16/09/2024 08:57

@jollyfedup many diets result in a bigger weight loss the first week. 3lbs in a week is great.

85reasons · 16/09/2024 09:32

@jollyfedup I'd say 11lb in two weeks shows this is working well for you at 2.5. From the reading I've done I'm inclined to try to deep the dosages down as low as possible - mostly in terms of where it leaves you at the end, but I'm a bit bitten as I'm currently trying to lose 2-3 stone that I had regained from weight loss 3 years ago so REALLY know how easy it is to have a stressful year and suddenly you've undone all that good work.

I don't want to be chasing ultimate suppression and losing weight more quickly (even though it's very tempting) - not least for the risk of muscle depletion.

I say all this now - but am aware my mindset will start niggling me towards wanting to up the dose if I feel I'm not getting anywhere.

InfoSecInTheCity · 16/09/2024 09:36

For those questioning the dose, do you have the facility to ask the prescribing doctor and get expert advice? There is so much info out there, much of it conflicts and it can be so hard to know what the best path is. I would be inclined to be led by the people who are in contact with lots and lots of people using these meds and who have access to up to date medical research and guidance.

mimosa1 · 16/09/2024 09:42

Hi all,
I took my first dose last night. I'm sure it's psychological but am def feeling fuller. I have my first counselling session today as well. I e never done anything like that so quite looking forward to it. I've been thinking about why I overeat and it's definitely a combination of appetite, which I hope Moinard will help me with, and feeling like it's a reward after long commutes, work travel, difficult days. So not emotional eating per se - I'm not sad or angry - but more feeling like "I deserve this" because of x, y or z. Need to think about this. Also don't do any exercise but have read the thread and it's reminded me about the importance of building muscle so will need to do this. Good luck all.

Morecoffeeforme · 16/09/2024 09:59

First week weigh in yesterday and I lost 3lbs.

Was really hoping for a bit more tbh as I’ve got so much to lose.

Jab two done late on Saturday night and appetite suppression seems to be back. Just going to keep going and might try and up the exercise as I only managed two walks last week and I wasn’t going for it.

SunshineAutumn · 16/09/2024 09:59

I'm day wk1 day6

Don't think I'm going to wait until tomorrow for second jab as chocolate crave is back so will probably do it this evening.

Had 3 Mars bars last night! Not happy!

violetsunrise · 16/09/2024 10:06

Just taken my third 2.5 dose this morning and have lost 3lbs in week two so 12lbs in two weeks. Buzzing.

SW - 14st 0lbs
CW - 13st 2 lbs

raspberrymeringue · 16/09/2024 10:09

Morning all.

Jab 2 on Friday morning, and I’ve eaten very little since then (I have eaten just not an awful lot) , feeling a bit lightheaded this morning, anybody else had this, and has any recommendations I’d be glad to hear them.
Have a good week.

Purplehearts757 · 16/09/2024 10:14

It seems a cup of tea makes me feel sick like when i was pregnant 🤮 i know what to have if hungry now lol

You need to eat something with carbs and protein that will give your body some sugar to stop you going low.

Toast with peanut butter or a scrambled egg
Porridge/overnight oats
Greek yoghurt full fat with granola

Beynac · 16/09/2024 10:40

I've just done jab 2. I didn't think I had suppression, but then on Saturday I started feeling hungry again for the first time in a week so I must have. It looks like I lost 3kg but I surely can't have - I think some of that might be different clothes. I don't feel like I've lost much at all. I was only planning on weighing once a month but weighed yesterday out of curiosity.
Week 1:
Height: 5'0
SW: 70kg
CW: 67kg

jollyfedup · 16/09/2024 12:33

@85reasons yes it is working well so tempted to stay on this dose, but also feel like I should move up as it seems to be what they advise? I don't know I feel quite torn! Might speak to my partner tonight and see what he thinks.

@20bloodypounds yes you're right, 3lbs is still a great loss!

I find reading this thread so encouraging and supportive, I've only told my partner in real life.

ReadyForAction · 16/09/2024 12:35

Week 2 day 2

I am feeling bloated and constipated this morning, exactly the same as last week on days 2+3.

I'm going to drink lots more water and go for a walk. If I could get things moving, I'd feel better.

Hildabaggins · 16/09/2024 12:38

Hello
I’m on W1, D5 here. Something is definitely different. It’s like I am hungry but I don’t care that I am hungry. I had some chocolate today and happily stopped after a few squares. Normally I’d demolish the bar in seconds.
I weighed myself this morning, I’m 1.5lb down. Not too bad to start with.
We’re having a Chinese takeaway tonight for MIL’s birthday and I have no idea what to eat. Do I get what I normally get and have a much smaller portion? Or do I make my excuses and have something different from the rest of the family?

JuvenileBigfoot · 16/09/2024 12:39

Did week 2 jab last night. No side effects at all so far.

I lost 3lb last week, I definitely didn't eat as well as I could have, especially towards the end of the week.

Still, better than nothing!

Peachesandfizz · 16/09/2024 13:51

Week 3, day 2.
Feel like rubbish today. So tired and nauseous. Managed a ham sandwich for lunch and then had to have a nap. My tummy just feels full of wind. 🙈
