I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Can I cautiously stick my hand on here?

I have just placed my first order with Oushk and am waiting for it to arrive. I'm hoping it's approved and here before the weekend so I can start my first dose on Sunday night.

My BMI is 42 and despite losing the same 75lbs a few times in my life, it never seems to stick and at 44 I am just so weary about the constant battle and the hunger it takes to lose that weight. I am also really aware that my body is probably not going to cope so well being heavy as I get older and I risk all sorts of issues. I just want to be fit and well.

Was there anything any of you did - or wished you'd done - in preparation for your first dose?

I'm nearly at the end of my first week. I stocked up on some protein shakes and other bits of things that are bite size. So far this week I've been glad of the following -

Small Bananas (haven't been able to eat in one go but ate half then the other half an hour later.)
Graze flapjack bites
Cup a Soup with noodles
Drinks bottles with electrolytes
Babybels (lower fat ones)
Eggs
Spinach and other salad bits
Roast chicken slices - plain protein really appealed in the first few days and I ate the chicken on it's own with tomato and cucumber.
Protein shakes - I drink these anyway although I've felt less keen on them this week. Managed a couple when no other food appealed.

Key things I've learned so far. Don't go too long not eating and eat some small protein on an evening. One day I didn't and I slept badly.

Watch your fluid intake - I've really gone off tea so I've had to replace it with something. It's easy to not drink enough so always have a water bottle close by and drink regularly whether you feel like it or not.

Hello. I'll be joining as soon as I get my pack. I applied sat am, got approved sat pm. MedExpress.
Couple of questions

  1. How common are the side effects? Have a uni open day on Friday so want to not be in a dodgy place? And a busy week next week. How bad are they?
  2. Where do you take the sharps box when full (probably should ask that on a more experienced board?) but it's troubling me 😂.
doodleschnoodle · 16/09/2024 18:02
  1. I've just had some minor gastric stuff, some burps and a bit of diarrhoea the day after a jab, which I now know is coming so I take an Imodium when I wake up that day and that solves it. Seems like some people have had none, some people feel a bit nauseous.

  2. I think you can just take them to your local pharmacy. That's what I was told with my sharps boxes from the clotting injections after DC were born.

doodleschnoodle · 16/09/2024 18:03

Has anyone else found they've got more energy on MJ? I've been waking up before the kids, and feel fine all day when previously I was ready for a nap by about lunchtime!

ShiftAMountain · 16/09/2024 19:07

Thanks @OvaHere - that gives me some good pointers!

Thelastdietever · 16/09/2024 19:18

I’m nearly half way through week 3 of 2.5 and the noise there a little so looks like body is getting used to it. I’ve managed to ignore it but still got 4 day to go

SybillaB · 16/09/2024 19:18

Today I had half an oat and raisin cookie then was bored so left the rest. Something has definitely changed with my taste buds and appetite.

FearNotSheHathRisen · 16/09/2024 19:20

Hello,

Like the others, I'm tentatively waving and asking if I can join you. I've been reading all the posts on here and finally decided to go for it last week and ordered via Voy. I injected last night and other than a little bit of nausea here and there, I'm feeling optimistic and like there is a chance I can finally, finally, finally lose this damned weight!

I've been overweight for as long as I can remember, and I can barely remember a single day when I wasn't held back or felt self-conscious because of my weight. I'm now almost 50 - a few weeks away, in fact - and enough is enough. I've had some health scares lately, which has made me wake up to the danger of being overweight, and I'm determined to make some solid lifestyle changes.

I need to do lots of research on protein and what I should be eating to make the most of this, and will start on here, and other MJ threads as you are all such a source of amazing info.

Here we go...

I’ve been feeling really “peaceful” mentally, and generally just less prone to procrastination - I have read that it works to quieten anxiety and other ‘compulsions’ which is interesting - I certainly feel like I’m just getting on with stuff more than usual!

20bloodypounds · 16/09/2024 20:04

@ShiftaMountain based on advice from previous threads I stocked up on OTC remedies for some of the more common side effects, there's no point in suffering unnecessarily. So travel sickness pills for nausea, immodium, senna pods, antacids. So far I've only needed the Ronnies for a couple of nights of heartburn but I felt reassured having all the other options.

jollyfedup · 16/09/2024 20:51

@doodleschnoodle yes I am 100% more energetic! Dancing round the kitchen with my toddler, usually I'm too tired for that! My partner says he thinks I'm less lethargic- although I'm still not a morning person in the slightest!!

I've just ordered the 5mg and waiting for it to be approved. Did some research and think it'll be better for me than staying at 2.5mg.

alwaysscared · 16/09/2024 21:37

I'm really struggling. I feel really poorly, like dazed and woozy in my head all the time. It's not my blood sugar as I've been testing that. I keep seeing people are feeling better and have loads of energy, I just feel really spaced out and it's causing my anxiety to spiral.
Also, I can't poo! I haven't been in a few days and it's worrying me now (I have IBS so usually have diarrhoea, so this is all new for me!)

CatTraveler · 16/09/2024 21:51

Did my first 7.5mg on Friday morning and whist I dont think I have noticed any increase in "supression" (not the way I did when I went up to 5mg and I couldnt eat a thing) but I definetly am feeling fuller quicker.

I am really trying to "surf the urge" when I think I am hungry and wait 20 mins after finishing something before I eat anything else and normally by 10 mins in I am realising I am full.

Have drunk alchol for the first time on MJ, last week I was away on holiday and whilst I didnt drink as much as I would have done before I definetly drank more than I wanted to, and suffered on one morning. However it has made me reflect on how I often drink from "habit" when we are meeting friends not because I want to, and I am getting into the mindset I dont need to drink all the time. I was happy to drive for a night out over the weekend.

How much are you eating on a daily basis? Do you have other medical issues?

If you feel that bad it might be worth speaking to your provider or Doctor.

Do you think it could be because you are so anxious about whether it will work or not?

Are you taking in extra fibre?

alwaysscared · 16/09/2024 22:33

@SwiftiesVSLestat so currently I'm eating an apple for breakfast
A small oats with no sugar alpro yogurt, berries, grapes and chopped hazelnuts for lunch
For tea I have either been having wholemeal pitta with avocado, salad and ham or chicken x 2 or avocado and egg on wholemeal toast x2
I then have a small portion of frozen grapes and berries for pudding

I'm not sure if it's my body getting used to not having much sugar?!

I have been taking latulose these past couple of days to try and get things moving but nothing is happening

It could be that you aren’t eating enough.

There’s not a lot of protein there. I have also being seeing that people take electrolytes a couple of times a week. Especially if they are going through a period where they are very suppressed and not eating much. That might help.

We are on the same day I think! I found myself hungry and snacking and so panicked. Then realised I had only had 250 cals at work so was entitled to be bloody starving!

How much protein should we be having a day? X

Latelifelesbian · 17/09/2024 08:06

Hi,
im starting my first injection today. I’m 17 stone and 5”5 so bmi of 39
i have pcos and have always struggled with my weight so I’m really hoping this kick starts some actual movement.

SpottyBumPony · 17/09/2024 08:56

Week 3 and I’m doing well. I’m really enjoying food but am able to make better choices. I’m still under eating but I think I’d be happier to have a big loss at first then spend more months learning how to maintain. I expect to be paying for this for 12 months tbh.

IF is working well, a few evenings this week I’ve fancied something in the evening but been able to understand it’s after my eating time and to leave it.

Forevermermaid · 17/09/2024 09:46

Final dose of 2.5mg taken - and another 3lb off this week 🤩 Already have the 5mg pen, looking forward to starting that next Tuesday.

Haven't felt this positive and motivated in so long!

SW - 18st (29/8)
CW - 17st 4lb
GW - 11st

NoAprilFool · 17/09/2024 10:30

I took my fourth injection last night (moved it out by a day as I have my hardest exercise session on a Monday and was finding the -mild- side effects not conducive to really going for it in the gym!)

I’ve decided to stay on 2.5mg for another 4 weeks. I’m fortunate that it does seem to be working for me at this dose. I’ll look to go up if/when that changes.

SW: 13st 3 (bmi 35)
CW: 12 st 7 (bmi 33)

20bloodypounds · 17/09/2024 10:34

I'm feeling a little hungry this morning for the first time. I'm on day 6 of my second week. I'll have a coffee and not eat till lunchtime which I don't think will be a struggle. We had a long cycle yesterday, 2 hours (but on an electric bike so nothing heroic!) so maybe that's why I am a little hungry. In a seaside town today and planning a seafood salad for lunch.

Purplehearts757 · 17/09/2024 12:21

Week 3 day 5 nausua has kicked in im wondering if i should stay on 2.5 for a bit longer although i have my 5 in the fridge waiting 🤔
