I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

I'm starting tonight. Can I ask if anyone who first started thinks it's best to inject the night before and sleep or in the morning. Not sure how quick any side effects will happen or when the appetite suppressant kicks in. Thanks in advance.

End of week 2 took 3rd jab yesterday as trying to bring it a day a week early as need to take on Friday to get 5th dose in before holiday. So chuffed 4.5 lb that’s 11.5 in 2 weeks feel so good except for last night.

We went to a birthday party with booze and buffet, took it easy only had 2.5 pints of cider and a little food then I was sick 🤢 only just made the loo the food and booze wouldn’t budge from my stomach really made me feel rough too. Oh well that heavy drinking out the window. I’m not sad I really want to lose weight forever and drink minimal.

This food noise disappearing is so weird I sat with a cake in front of me and looking at it I fancied it but wasn’t hungry so moved it away didn’t think about it again. I have always said why am I not contented with 1 or 2 biscuit I have to eat a whole packet now I can, this drug is fantastic. 5mg syringe ordered whoop whoop

sylv165 · 15/09/2024 14:44

Hi everyone, can I join please? I have just had confirmation that my first order has been approved so I should get my first pen this week at some point. I'm 5ft 0in, currently weigh 12st 4lbs.

I have really mixed feelings about starting. I have tried every diet under the sun, but every year that goes by I weigh 3 or 4lbs more and never manage to shift it. I've gone from being 8 stone in 2014 to my current weight ten years later, so I am excited to start and am hoping this is the thing that will finally make a difference.

But I also have a weird sense of shame and failure that I haven't been able to do it in my own. Silly, I know. I think I need a group like this to make me realise that I am not alone!

Welcome sylv165. I have been lurking on here for just over a week having taken my first 2.5 dose last Sunday. I am happy to report 5 lb lost, no side effects, plenty of energy and good suppression of appetite.

I have lost and gained the same 15kilos loads of times over the course of life and now that I am old, none of the usual weight loss methods have worked. Really pleased so far and I hope you will be too.😀

Justasmallgless · 14/09/2024 17:37

End of week 2 and only lost 1lb this week but have had a boozy couple of nights so only to be expected.

However I've lost another inch off hips and inch off waist.
So overall I'm taking this as a win.

Just done 3rd injection - will definitely be going up to 5mg after 4th one

That’s interesting about losing inches. I’ve not measured myself but I’m sure my spare tyre felt smaller this morning.

StanleyCup · 15/09/2024 17:38

Hi all, can i join the chat?! I have been lurking this thread for a couple weeks. Received my 2.5mg pen from Medexpress about 10 days ago, i just took my second jab yesterday morning. i lost 7.5lbs in my first week! YAY

Loved seeing the results from other people and so far I've had relatively little side effects, so fingers crossed this keeps going! Im another one been on every diet going over the years, lost and put on, lost and put on. I cannot ever remember being slim! So I'm hoping this is the push i need to get to my goal weight.

SW - 13.10
CW - 13.2.5
GW - 10 stones

I wanted to ask, coming from the thread ‘To wonder how people afford weight loss injections?!’
Does everyone get a medexpress referral/discount code to give out and then get further discounts for yourself? Are discounts only available on first orders only on Medexpress?

Hi, I took my first injection on Friday night and since then I've felt a little nauseous but it's not too bad. We've been in the car a lot over the weekend which could be making it worse since I get a bit of travel sickness - I'll see how it goes tomorrow. I've been amazed how quickly the effects have kicked in. I haven't felt hungry or wanted to snack. It's been a bit of a struggle to eat breakfast or lunch but I'm hungry by dinner time and I've enjoyed my food without wanting seconds or a pudding. Fingers crossed this carries on but I'll need to watch my calories. I've had around 800 the past 2 days but could happily have had much less and I want to be sensible.

CoolLimeSheep · 15/09/2024 18:05

It's me again is anyone struggling with dizziness I have gone upto 5mg and ever so dizzy and nauseous past couple of days. I am only managing to eat 1 meal a day at most. Hoping it subsides.

I'm on week 5 and still can't eat more than one meal a day. I have gone upto 5mg but don't think I'll go up again for a while as nauseous and dizzy. I've lost 1 stone 12 since 1st August but got another 5 stone 11 to lose. Good luck in your journey

Make sure you are eating throughout the day even if you don't feel like it. You don't need to have big portions but you will get dizzy and nauseous if your blood sugar gets too low, so little snacks will help regulate that.

You can have a bit of cottage cheese on a cracker, a babybel, a portion of nuts, an apple, a carrot with hummus... something light and low enough calorie to not disrupt weightloss while giving your body something to process.

CoolLimeSheep · 15/09/2024 18:20

Thank you there really good ideas so I will give it a go 🙂

Whereisthewine · 15/09/2024 18:32

So weighed on Friday after first 5 days on 2.5 and had lost 4 almost 5lbs, not eaten much last two days weighed again and I've put on 3lbs can that be right? So so disappointed ☹️

Often big fluctuations are more about water than fat. If you've had a really busy day and not had much to drink and become dehydrated then your body hangs on to what it has, the same for it you do lots of exercise or get really hot. The best way to prevent this is to make sure you are drinking plenty throughout the day and to look at your weight over a weekly period rather than being invested in the daily numbers. It's fine to weigh daily if that works for you but only focus on the once a week number.

Itsacrazyworldisntit · 15/09/2024 18:42

Last 7.5 today in my arm and it’s kicking my ass. Had to have a sleep on the sofa this afternoon! 🤦‍♀️

Whereisthewine · 15/09/2024 18:42

Thanks InfoSecInTheCity I've not been drinking as much water over the weekend so maybe it's that. Just taken my second 2.5 dose so here's hoping for some loss this week, will def not weigh until next Sunday

famcynags · 15/09/2024 18:47

Sadteacher · 13/09/2024 06:32

@famcynags that’s incredible!

my second weigh in today and I have lost 1.5lbs so 4lbs total over 2 weeks. If I lose half a stone on the first pen I’ll be happy, it’s such a low dose anything will be a bonus.
The only bad habit I have is wine, I’m still enjoying it but probably having a few less glasses over the week.

I'm hating the thought of wine and I used to drink any day of the week

Thelastdietever · 15/09/2024 18:49

Hello lovely people do you have any hints or tips on slowing down my eating as I eat fast. I snort food lol. Im trying the forks down between mouthfuls but keep forgetting lol

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/09/2024 18:50

You are most welcome @Whereisthewine , water is often overlooked and it's ridiculously important. The act of breaking down fat so that your body can dispose of it (Lipolysis) uses water, so the broken down fat cells can be secreted out in sweat and urine. If you don't drink enough you can find your weight plateauing, especially if you are low carb/keto, it takes even more water than normal to handle the increased fat and protein.

I try to keep a bottle in the fridge at all times, as only really like drinking it if it's really really cold.

Thanks and good luck to you too! As other people have said, I think we will need to push ourselves to eat at regular intervals to keep our blood levels stable. It's such a weird idea, I'm usually trying to cut out snacks and eat less, it's odd to push myself to eat but I'm trying to look at this as a way to develop good habits and 1 meal a day isn't sustainable in the long term.

wohmum · 15/09/2024 19:02

2nd injection on Friday for me - I’ve lost 3 lbs in total so nothing amazing but I’m happy with a gradual loss.
Had an ‘interesting ‘ experience today. We’re on holiday and stopped for coffee and cake after a walk .. It was lovely but only wanted 1/2 of it .. so that was all I had - unheard of!!

then this evening we went for fish and chips . I was starving when ordered but could barely manage 1/2 the fish and not even a handful of chips .. I almost felt sick I was that full.

I’m only on 2.5 and have had no side effects and hadn’t felt like it was making any difference

is this appetite suppression in action?

I had lost seven pounds by day 5, by day 7 two had gone back on even though I’d eaten very little. Keep going - or at least this is what I’m telling myself - I think I’ll try weighing less often and try to trust in the process.

onlyhereforthechaletschool · 15/09/2024 19:59

I started yesterday. I think I’ve spent as much time wondering if I’m not thinking about food so therefore thinking about food ,.. slightly disappointed I’ve not been unable to eat but on the plus side I’ve not snacked,

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 15/09/2024 20:02

Well this weekend was interesting. First time eating out since going on mounjaro.

I ordered a main course only but had some bread to begin with. I didn't feel like eating even half of my main course. Unfortunately for some reason I kept eating and couldn't sleep as I felt so bloated.

The next evening I just had a main course again, none of the bread and stopped when I felt I'd had enough and felt so much better.

ReadyForAction · 15/09/2024 20:19

@InfoSecInTheCity

Thanks for explaining the importance of hydration. Last week, was my first week. I put on 3lbs in a few days, felt very bloated.

I had my 2.5, week 2 dose yesterday. I don't have any side affects and had a modest loss my first week. I wonder if more severe symptoms = more weight loss.

I suppose hunger has abated. I still feel like I could eat a big meal if I chose to. Still using willpower.

20bloodypounds · 15/09/2024 20:25

@wohmum @gargoylesofbeelzebub Isn't it such a strange thing to just stop eating when we've had enough? I had a small bowl of soup tonight then only put a couple of spoonfuls of the main on my plate. Dh was incredulous "that's a tiny amount". But it was just perfect.

And I bought a single 185ml bottle of wine. And that was enough too.

I don’t think 'enough' was in my vocabulary before MJ. I hope it becomes a life-long lesson, but time to worry about that way in the future. For now I am taking it as it comes.
