I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Hopefully this is helpful. It's an info page with all the information from the main Mounjaro threads. There's also a link to the weight loss tracker in lbs and kgs.

The Reddit threads are also great.

Good morning all

just had my first weigh in as I waited til my period kicked in. So I am 12 days in. And I have lost 9lb!

I am so happy with that. I do have a Lot to lose. This is the first time I have been under 20 stone in 2 and a half years. It’s 0.8lbs lower than I got to in my last diet attempt.

i know a lot will be water weight. But that’s ok to because I don’t have swollen ankles and my face isn’t puffy first thing anymore! That itself is great.

I have a pair of shoes that are usually a bit tight and since the swollen feet and ankles have gone they are comfortable!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Seldomseenkid · 15/09/2024 06:58

Morning all,

My first weigh in after 7 days on 2.5 and I lost 7 pounds. This is great but the side effects were strong and I’ve been so unwell I hade to take a day off work.

I was fine for the first 36 hours, with instant suppression. Sulphur burps after 24 hours but a day and a half in I had diarrhoea. That lasted 4 days and Imodium did not work. It’s was not good. I work on site full time! I know it was the Mounjaro as I felt completely well aside from this, not that sickly virus/food poisoning sick.

I really struggled to eat the whole time and wondered if I was making the side effect worse because I was on 500-800 calories a day. I’m also due my next dose today and considering just doing 1.5 and building up
from there. There’s no way I’m going up to 5 in 3 weeks! Perhaps if I worked from
home I would feel differently but the idea
of another week like last week fills me with dread.

This thread has been great though, seeing how everyone else is doing. Good luck to the new starters- my experience seems to be in the minority.

85reasons · 15/09/2024 07:10

@Seldomseenkid that sounds super tough - poor you!

I listened to a great podcast yesterday where the doctor talks a lot about using smaller doses, especially to start with - might be an interesting listen

Weigh in day today, lost a modest 1lb but brings my total is 15 weeks to 35lb. also jab day and used the last (golden dose) of my 7.5 pen.

not sure if to order another 7.5 or move up 🤔

poppy80 · 15/09/2024 07:59

Week 3 Day 2

SW 13.6
Wk 1 12.12
Wk 2 12.12

I know the 2.5 dose is really to get used to the medication but I feel really disappointed that I've not lost anything last week.

Third dose today and keeping positive about the week ahead. I need to look at if I need to do anything regarding my 5mg dose with Voy. I think it's an automatic reorder.

Well done everyone on starting their weight loss journey and some incredible losses so far Flowers

*Onwards and downwards!

I haven't lost anything during my first week. Just had second dose on Friday. I'm committed to try it for two months. Will see what happens, if anything at all.

mumof5andfat · 15/09/2024 08:32

Week 2 weight in...... 1lb down :-(. Week 1 was 8lb down. I really need to watch what i eat. I start the gym tomorrow, so hoping for a better loss next week.
Its the sugar addiction for me. My brain doesnt even want it anymore... no idea why i do it to myself. This is one of the habits I'm hoping to break whilst on mj.
I'm still happy to be on mounjaro as the 'food noise' is still significantly reduced for me. I'm not constantly thinking about my next 'fix' so to say. I really was into binge behaviour territory before.

Thanks so much @85reasons I really appreciate the link and I’m listening now!

I’ve decided to go with 1.25 so 30 clicks and see how I get on. I’m prepared for no suppression or more stomach issues! I’ll focus on 1200 calories and healthy eating and see how I get on this week.

raspberrymeringue · 15/09/2024 09:10

Morning all.
Week 2 day 3 for me.
Yesterday the suppression was huge, like the remnants of the first injection were layered onto injection 2. And the headache I thought I’d dodged this week is now back. I saw someone said Mounjaro has a half life of 5 days so I guess that’s to be expected.

@NowImNotDoingIt Sorry to hear that. Were you experiencing any appetite suppression? Had you changed what you were eating? From this thread and others it’s apparent that 2.5mg, which is considered a loading dose, doesn’t affect some people. It’s a stepping stone up the what’s considered that therapeutic dose of 5mg.

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/09/2024 09:12

Tantalisingly close to having lost my first stone. At 13.6lb loss as of this morning. Doing well, no side effects beyond a mild headache and still able to eat, just not hungry all the time. I have had to reduce my Metformin as was getting low blood sugar readings, so might be possible when I increase to 5mg to ditch the Metformin completely.

raspberrymeringue · 15/09/2024 09:19

@InfoSecInTheCity That’s an amazing step for your health. Would that mean your diabetes is in remission?

friendlymummy · 15/09/2024 09:23

Hi, please can I join this thread? Took my first dose on September 7th and my second one last night. I was fine with the first dose but the second one has hit me like a tonne of bricks - my racing heart woke me up in the night and I was experiencing Olympic levels of farting. Has anyone else had anything like this? I was expecting last night's to be smooth sailing.

spinningisthebest · 15/09/2024 09:38

Tried alcohol for the first time since starting on Friday. After success with one glass of wine had two at lunch time. Bad move. Blinding headache started at 9pm and didn't shift despite paracetamol. Ok this morning but I won't do that again!

Hildabaggins · 15/09/2024 10:04

I don’t know if I am noticing any differences yet. I took my first dose on Thursday morning. I didn’t eat much on Friday but yesterday I ate pretty much like normal. I had smaller portions though. But I deliberately chose a smaller portion, rather than not wanting to eat.

InfoSecInTheCity · 15/09/2024 10:07

raspberrymeringue · 15/09/2024 09:19

I don't think so just from stopping the met because the MJ is taking the place of the Metformin. I'll need to have blood tests to see what the A1C numbers look like every few months. Last one was 11%, if I can get to below 6.5% then it becomes pre-diabetes and lower becomes non-diabetic. So fingers crossed.

Samisam86 · 15/09/2024 10:24

Week 2 weigh in for me this morning and another 3.5lbs gone. Total 12.5lbs in two weeks. Love this stuff 😂. I know it will slow down sadly lol. Also hit my first target which was to get below 12 stone 7 and I'm now proudly 12 stone 6. Onto the next target. When I did the injection this morning it bleed abit afterwards never had that before. Is that normal? First injection no bruise or anything, second a big black bruise that's still very much there and then this one it bleed and guessing there's going to be another bruise. Here's to another good week and hopefully lots of losses for everyone.

Purplehearts757 · 15/09/2024 10:42

Day 19 and just ordered my first 5mg pen to start week after next feeling quite nervous but not really had any side effects so far except a bit achy the day after injection.

First week and I’m down 8lbs on the 2.5ml - but I’ve had a big change in my diet. 14st starting weight. I completely cut out alcohol but that was something I wanted to do for ages but never had the motivation before. I also stopped cake, sweets, white bread and fried food - again I wanted to stop eating these things before but couldn’t. I am eating over 1000 cals a day and having protein and fruit smoothies plus 3 gym classes - so I expect that helps.

The jab doesn’t suppress my hunger much and I feel hungry occasionally but I simply can’t eat the portions and amounts like I used to (I keep inwardly laughing at the teeny tiny posters’ diatribe ‘we’ve lost sight of what a healthy portion looks like’ 😄).
Anyway, I will be interested at next Sunday weigh in and perhaps at a more realistic pace.
Side effects after second injection - weird taste and minor reflux (took indigestion med) but nothing else so far.

Justasmallgless · 15/09/2024 11:12

@Sampler well done. Just to say if you have started 3 gym classes a week and dropped to 1000 calories you are more likely to be hungry.

I normally always start back at the gym at same time as a diet. This time have had two weeks of just seeing what "normal" is and then am going back to gym this week so will be interested to see how that goes

Keep going everyone - there are some amazing results on here

alwaysscared · 15/09/2024 11:50

@InfoSecInTheCity what number are your sugars at when low? Mine have been coming down a lot and I woke in the night feeling rough and they were down to 4. I'm not sure if that means I should lower my glicazide or if that is an acceptable level. I'll ask the nurse but wanted to check on here too

Sampler · 15/09/2024 11:51

@Justasmallgless I’ve been going to the gym for over a year and usually do 4 classes but I was too tired to do spin last week after the jab. I am one of those people who go to the gym, tone up and all that, but stayed 14 stone which was really annoying - but there is light at the end of the tunnel now. I think people thought I went to the gym to eat or lie in the jacuzzi.
I think it’s wise to wait if you’re not normally a gym goer and see how your body reacts though as it could be too much too soon.

I buy the freestyle Libre sensors because I just don't like doing the finger prick tests, I get annoyed having bruised fingers all the time 😂 it registers a result as being in the low range if it's 3.9 or below.

I noticed Friday that I was hovering around the 4 mark, ate a square of chocolate and a couple of crumpets with peanut butter, but even so didn't get above 5.5 and during Friday night into Saturday I had a sustained period while I was asleep of between 3 and 4 n/mol. So yesterday I just had 1 metformin instead of 2 in the morning. My levels stayed in the green range all day, so I did the same with dinner and again stayed in range so doing the same today and just keeping watch. The diabetes nurse said this may happen and to keep an eye on it and adjust as needed. I have Lift tablets in my handbag, and a stash of jelly babies in the cupboard so if I do go low I can treat it quick.

If you haven't tried the freestyle Libre it's great. Not cheap but not that expensive, if you go direct to the Abbot website (manufacturers) you can sign up for a free trial if you have been diagnosed as diabetic, so you get 1 sensor free which gives you 2 weeks of tracking. Then they do a deal where you get a pack of 2 sensors for £86 which is a month's worth.

alwaysscared · 15/09/2024 12:49

@InfoSecInTheCity thanks. I was using the freestyle libre up until my surgery, so have had the free trial and can't afford to pay for it again unfortunately. I have a stash of jelly babies next to my bed and had some in the middle of the night. I don't like them, which is good as I'm not tempted to eat more!! I'm going to experiment today with my dosage and see what readings I get.

CoolLimeSheep · 15/09/2024 13:13
