I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

I have had my pen sitting in the fridge for a couple of weeks and I have finally taken my first dose. I am looking forward to this journey, I have a vast amount of weight to shift so I am going to aim for slow and steady loses.

Neolara · 14/09/2024 11:57

Oulala - me too!

Finally plucked up courage to inject this morning. Was apprehensive about the side effects but feeling ok so far.

Only 2 days since my 2nd jab and I’m already feeling the suppression waning, quite disappointed about that.

I did my second 2.5mg yesterday and not feeling any suppression so far.

SunshineAutumn · 14/09/2024 12:27

Blimey @EJA24 what a loss!!

Are people noticing yet?

I'm on day wk1 d3 - I've been weighing myself every day and am already losing!

HOL2024 · 14/09/2024 12:56

About to take second dose tonight.
Week one I’m down 6.8 pounds 🎉

I did my second 2.5mg yesterday and not feeling any suppression so far.

Are you having normal hunger pangs then and wanting to snack/eat proper meals? Had your appetite returned fully by the end of the first jab? I've just taken my second jab today, interested to see if there is a different reaction but my appetite definitely hadn't come back properly by the end of the first week.

Thehop · 14/09/2024 13:52

Finally getting started afyer a delivery delay!

thanks for all the advice in this group, it's a great pkace to read up

ReadyForAction · 14/09/2024 13:55

Thanks for your encouragement @SpiderMother

I'm over being told by medical professionals to pop on the scales.

I am proactive and can advocate for myself. At my last smear, I asked them please not to mention psoriasis and my weight at all in this appointment. As I left, they said "you can pop on the scales out there". Pop off. I went back into the room and sat down to have a conversation. Not annoyed, weary.

It takes a lot to attend medical apps, I have a lot because of medical conditions. My weight should not (must not) be mentioned at every single one of them. I do not need to be weighed when I have a blood test. I do understand additional weight stresses a body and exacerbates health conditions. It's too much.

Hopefully, MJ will help bring me into a healthier weight range. It will be a better way to live

Not good, hope it kicks in for you soon. I’ve been better today, so I’m hoping yesterday was a once off.

SwiftiesVSLestat · 14/09/2024 14:11

2 small wins today!

Dp made me coffee and breakfast in bed this morning. He made crumpets. I ate one and a half instead of 3, like I would have done before.

Then he and ds had a Burger King at lunch and I just didn’t fancy it. They were getting it while they were out and I was at home. They were going to bring one back for me if I wanted it. I made myself a salad and I didn’t feel like I was missing out or wishing I could have the Burger King. But it wasn’t until after I realised it didn’t bother me. I thought about it, didn’t fancy it, said no and made lunch without the Chicken legend praying on my mind like it would have done a few weeks ago.

Only small things to other people but huge to me.

Sampler · 14/09/2024 15:53

@ReadyForAction I had a phone consultation with a nurse practitioner for foot cream who decided to read my recent notes & told me ‘btw you need to phone in your weight or you won’t get anymore HRT meds’. I asked why and she said my BMI was too high (I was 14 stone). I asked could I go and see her for bloods & a check up and she said no need, just phone my weight in or ‘pop in’ to reception with it. She said I’d 3 months to phone in or they’d stop issuing scripts🙄
I will phone in my weight within the 3 months and hopefully she can do one. she’s a nurse and not my dr but I couldn’t be arsed arguing.
I was upset given I’d called about my feet - but it’s got me started on mounjaro, so maybe I should thank her 🙃
Hopefully in the not too distant future we will not have to go through this ‘pop on’ stuff 🤞🏼

Richtea67 · 14/09/2024 16:32

So after first injection last night not feeling too bad! Woke up with a mouth like sandpaper and feel a bit spaced out....but OK, hopefully a good sign. Definitely less hungry today...I had poached eggs on toast, homemade veg soup and an oak cake for lunch and we have pulled pork and rice later. I would definitely normally be starving by now normally.

Justasmallgless · 14/09/2024 17:37

End of week 2 and only lost 1lb this week but have had a boozy couple of nights so only to be expected.

However I've lost another inch off hips and inch off waist.
So overall I'm taking this as a win.

Just done 3rd injection - will definitely be going up to 5mg after 4th one

Thats terrible i have never been asked my weight for hrt ive been on it 3 years my dr knows im morbidly obese.

LoveSandbanks · 14/09/2024 18:04

After about 3 months on 5mg I’ve finally moved up to 7.5. Appetite suppression is BACK! Along with indigestion and sulphur burps! I think I’ve managed about 500 calories today, which would be fine but I’m running 8 miles tomorrow morning!

Im reconciled to never pooing again 🤣

doodleschnoodle · 14/09/2024 18:25

I'll swap you as I am doing nothing but pooing! Seems like the day or two after a jab I get really bad diarrhoea. I was quick with the Imodium this time so okay now, but wondering if it'll get worse on 5! The Imodium stops it in its tracks so it's not too bad but would prefer not to have it!

85reasons That’s a very good point. I saw someone on the thread wasn’t happy with the weight loss they had achieved so far, and couldn’t wait to go up to the next dose. I’m not in a hurry. Steady will suit me just fine. I guess we can only wait and see. For me if I keep getting the same result, I’m happy to stay put. If it starts to taper off I’ll reconsider.

Edited

That's probably me. I've had very little to no suppression at all this week. I can't justify that sort of money if it's not working. I know 2.5 doesn't work for everyone maybe because I'm starting at 39 plus BMI?

85reasons · 14/09/2024 19:08

@thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway have you also still had the "food noise" ie craving or thinking about food, as well as a normal appetite?

ReadyForAction · 14/09/2024 19:36

@Sampler 💐 that was so unnecessary. Threatening to cut off HRT because of your BMI is shocking to me.

"Evidence from the SWAN study and The Healthy Women's study suggests that on average women gain approximately 1.5kg per year during the perimenopause transition, resulting in an average weight gain of 10kg by the time menopause is reached. Most of this weight accumulates around the abdomen and upper body." Might this affect someone's BMI? I am 20lbs heavier than I was, no changes to diet or lifestyle. Pop off.

I have had two VTEs, one of them life threatening. I am waiting for an appt to see a specialist menopause expert. The first one agreed I was good candidate for HRT. They I told transdermal HRT can be used if a BMI is over 30. Due to other health issues, it was recommended that I speak to a menopause specialist first.

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 14/09/2024 19:36

@85reasons the first week it was definitely dulled but not absent the second week was ok for a day or two then the noise returned. I'm honestly thinking because my BMI is currently so high that is the problem. I'm not after fast loss but it's a waste to be injecting for nothing except extra wind 😂

ReadyForAction · 14/09/2024 19:56

@thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway that sounds tough. It's tough not to have lost in week two. There are a lot of people that don't lose any weight in the first week.

I've really had to use will power to eat in a calorie deficit. (Week 1 for me). Hang in there. X

HOL2024 · 14/09/2024 20:33

I’m one of the lucky ones and need to take jab 2 but still feeling a lot of suppression.

SybillaB · 14/09/2024 20:44

It’s first day after injection and my appetite seems to have reduced and had no craving for chocolate. I’m monitoring my calorie intake so will see how this goes over the week. Just hope it will lead to some weight loss as even on low calories I find it hard to lose weight.

SpottyBumPony · 14/09/2024 20:54

I’m a high BMI-er too, I have found it to be working well.

I listened to a ZOE podcast about weight loss drugs, they explained that the reasons people are affected at different rates is because the drug mimics a hormone already present in the body. So say we need a level of 5 for it to affect us, you might have a natural level of 1 but I might be naturally a 4. So although we’ve taken the same dose, it hasn’t reached an effective level in your body yet. I think this is why 2.5ml isn’t a clinical dose , it’s just for acclimatisation and when you move up to 5ml it should push you into the active phase

Darkflames · 14/09/2024 21:02

I coming here as I took my first injection today. Fingers crossed it works well for all of us.
