I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Well done! And well done @Sadteacher

i am still waiting for my period so still haven’t weighed since the morning after taking my first dose. So 10 days. I have the usual period back ache so am expecting it any moment.

I will weigh in a few days. I do feel different though. I am sure my stomach isn’t quite the same shape and my over hang seems slightly smaller 😂 that could all be in my head though lol

I'm sure my wrists are smaller and my watch fits more easily.

raspberrymeringue · 13/09/2024 09:06

famcynags Amazing first week
Sadteacher great progress

First week weigh in for me
SW 13 7
CW 13 4
3lb lost

Best first week loss I ever had was Cambridge 1:1 of 5lb, but it came a the cost of a massive effort and meal replacement with a 200 cal evening meal.
On WW 1lb or 1.5lb would be my max even for first week. So very happy with 3lb whilst eating healthy normal food with a few small treats. Here we go week 2, hoping for no headache

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/09/2024 09:16

@20bloodypounds I've had to notch my watch strap up a hole too, it was annoying me twisting around.

I did thigh for the first week. Didn’t feel that much. I did arm this week and feel more. It could be because it’s my second though.

I saw online that some people have different experiences depending on where they inject it. But overall people were saying stomach or back of arm seemed to get the best results. But I haven’t seen anything research wise on it. It’s just anecdotal

Yes I can see a huge difference for me... Yesterday I probably ate the most I've ever eaten on Mounjaro, and on day 1 as well. I have felt zero side effects whatsoever too. It's like I've not taken it 😕 having to use a lot of willpower this week

Doobi · 13/09/2024 10:48

Morning,

Bit of a disappointing weight in this week for me. Only 0.2kg/1/4 llb.

I thought it would be a bit more but I guess my body is evening itself out after previous weeks.

I seem to get stuck around 124kg mark, which is frustrating.

I'm due my last dose of 2.5mg tonight, which I wish was more as I'm not getting any suppression now. It feels a bit like a placebo.

Anyway, I'm off out for a catch up with a friend. The plan is homemade pizzas tonight for tea, I'll just have a smaller portion

Ive been reading these threads for weeks and today I had my first injection. I know I’m very overweight so avoid mirrors - it’s always a shock when I see a photo of myself. I have a very sweet tooth and over the years have lost the ability to say that’s enough. I’m 61 with a painful knee so that’s been my main spur to try Mounjaro before I end up disabling myself through my own fault.

Well done at taking that first step. I can relate to the shock of photos. It's usually what spurs me into dieting for a few weeks but can never stick with it, 4-6 weeks is normally when I fall off the wagon. Hoping this will be different and I can get past losing and regaining the same stone over and over.

I’ll join you with the sweet tooth, mine is still here even with mounjaro. Taking the first step and maintaining motivation is always hard. I’ve found this weight loss community so supportive so you are in the right place. Good luck! 🥰

i am going to do the next one in my stomach and see if I see a difference again.

Though this week I am seeing a big difference in how I feel, so could end up sticking with the arm. But I think I will avoid doing it in my thigh again.

Doobi · 13/09/2024 14:56

In regards to the bonus dose and using the insulin needles.

What amount (in syringe) = what dose?

I'm just unsure what I'll have left in pen to prime.

Can I find this information anywhere?

I believe it’s 0.6ml is a full dose whatever the strength.

alwaysscared · 13/09/2024 16:59

Second jab done
5lb down this week
Have had appetite suppression all the way through, even today which was a surprise!
Struggling with constipation a bit.
How's everyone doing?

alwaysscared · 13/09/2024 17:00

Oh and nausea on and off throughout too

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/09/2024 17:05

2nd dose last night and no side effects so far again.

For those experiencing constipation, I take 2 psyllium husk capsules a day with a big glass of water and haven't had this problem. Can't guarantee it will work for everyone but might be worth a try.

If not, then make sure you're getting plenty of fibre through other means, with reduced appetite and lower calorie, higher protein foods which I'm sure most of us are leaning towards, constipation and reduced bowel movements are almost guaranteed.

SwiftiesVSLestat · 13/09/2024 17:10

I find ground flaxseed is really good for constipation. I mix about 20 grams into some yoghurt and eat it that way.

My understanding is that you need soluable and insoluble fibre to make help constipation and make sure you are emptying yiur bowels properly. Flax seed and (I think) psyllium husk have both.

WanderingRed · 13/09/2024 17:30

Afternoon all,
Hope you've all had a good week?

I did my first weigh in and 2nd injection earlier and goodness 6lbs, I know a lot of that will be water weight though.

Honestly I've been wondering if this is how people with a normal relationship to food feel like?

I inject into my stomach, and honestly apart from a bit of constipation which I've remedied with lots of fibre for breakfast and an aloe tablet at night I've been all okay.
If I'm not hydrated I can feel a slight headache, and go grab some water.

But I literally am not fussed by food at all, I don't feel bloated, just satisfied and a slight change when I do want to eat.
I don't care about chocolate and sweet things at all? I don't even really want a Coke zero or anything really.

I've stuck to breakfast whether I feel it or not, usually a weetabix and cuppa.
Through the day I just graze, lots of protein so a bit chicken/ham, some cheese, boiled egg or maybe fruit or some nuts. And honestly that's me done.
Then I try and have a meal in the evening, just a small bit of whatever I've cooked for Hubby and son.

I have literally just been so chilled all week, is this how a body works when it's not bombarding you with crazy thoughts about food to boost your mood or stop boredom at work, or when you feel low.
I've been walking about 4.5 miles everyday doing the school run and dog walk, and I've actually been looking forward to going out,

What has happened to me and where have they put my disorganised brain? 🤭

Hildabaggins · 13/09/2024 17:33

I took my first injection yesterday morning. I’m not noticing any appetite suppression yet. I have been feeling sick on and off all day today. I hardly slept last night.

I hope this works for me. I am desperate to lose some weight.

SpiderMother · 13/09/2024 17:50

I'm struggling a bit today. I've had a really full on emotional day and its Friday and my brain is telling me I deserve a treat. I'm not feeling either full or that there is no food noise so resisting feels entirely willpower based which is hard. But I'm away for 4 days from Sunday so I need to be strict now as I don't want to undo all my good work so far.

Wishing everyone else a good weekend.

OldKnees · 13/09/2024 18:28

Congratulations to all the Week 1 losers!
Despite not feeling as if suppression had kicked in, I’ve somehow shifted 3 lbs this week, which I’m very pleased with.
Did my second jab mid-morning, and so far I think I feel less nauseous than I did after the first one.

20bloodypounds · 13/09/2024 19:14

@alwaysscared I was so happy to read your post. This time last week you were despairing that this might not work for you. Now look! 5lbs off. Well done and keep going, you're doing great.

SwiftiesVSLestat · 13/09/2024 19:26

Finally my period came so planning on getting weighed Sunday or Monday! For once actually looking forward to it!

Suppression is hitting hard today. I need to force myself to eat soon. I have only had yogurt with flaxseed and a few shreddies. And 3 small crackers with cream cheese and a bit of chicken on it.

alwaysscared · 13/09/2024 19:39

@20bloodypounds thank you!

InfoSecInTheCity · 13/09/2024 19:58

Just had to have an emergency crumpet, blood sugar level were getting really low. Think the MJ is doing such a good job I'm going to need to reduce the metformin.

Richtea67 · 13/09/2024 20:16

Just did my first injection...I had to really psych myself up, but it was nothing! I hope to be posting next week about some positive weight loss! Fingers crossed side effects are not too bad and short lived!

Lovethat · 13/09/2024 20:19

I was going to start tonight but was so hungry when I got home I ate a whole pizza and some shortbread. I'm guessing it's not a great idea to start, and then go to bed with a belly full of carbs Blush
