I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

2 weeks in and I did my 3rd jab last night in my thigh instead of usual stomach (just wanted to see if it would be any different) and today I've been starving all morning!! 😭 Doesn't even feel like I've taken anything. I'm gutted, it's normally kicked in by now

Second full day here. Took my first injection of 2.5 on Tuesday night. I did have quite good suppression yesterday but as we creep towards lunch today I feel like it's wearing off a bit.

Had eggs and spinach for breakfast around 9am, have just come off a work call and was feeling peckish. Had one of those Graze flapjack things and feel like I could eat something else. Starting to think about lunch a bit.

I guess I'm not one of those super responders on 2.5. I'm sort of okay with that as I was worried about being super sensitive to it and having terrible side effects and I would say I've had none really apart from feeling slightly cold yesterday morning.

I did hope to get maybe 4 days of decent suppression though so these doesn't bode well for the weekend. Will have to dig out some reserves of willpower to get through to Tuesday next week.

I'm on the same timeline as you and feel exactly the same today! Took my first jab Tuesday night, had good suppression yesterday but feeling quite hungry today. I think it is doing something though, as even though I am hungry I have not been tempted to snack, whereas before I'd have reached for the crisps ages ago. Hope the suppression kicks in again, though as I don't completely trust my willpower!! Had some chicken soup at lunchtime, which has filled me up a bit.

Beynac · 12/09/2024 16:39

I am on day 4 of week 1 and although I initially felt like I didn’t have any suppression I haven’t been able to eat much of my lunch for the last couple of days. It’s a very weird feeling, I’m normally a bottomless pit. Also although I have felt hungry at times a small snack is enough to satisfy it for several
hours, which again since I been on HRT I’ve been permanently starving so this is a very positive change. No side effects other than feeling a bit burpy and light headed on day 1.

Hildabaggins · 12/09/2024 16:43

Hello
i took my first dose this morning. My story will be familiar to many here, always struggled with my weight, perimenopause has meant it seems impossible to shift anything.
I took 2.5 this morning.
My starting weight is 83kg. I don’t have a set goal. First goal would be to get to a healthy BMI, which is 68kg. Gosh, that seems like a lot to lose. I was 61kg in 2018 😥

I did thigh for the first week. Didn’t feel that much. I did arm this week and feel more. It could be because it’s my second though.

I saw online that some people have different experiences depending on where they inject it. But overall people were saying stomach or back of arm seemed to get the best results. But I haven’t seen anything research wise on it. It’s just anecdotal

Yes it's a weird feeling especially the being a bit hungry but not needing to eat everything I can lay my hands on.

To be honest it's like being young again. I was like that naturally and was a size 8-10 until my early 30s. I didn't think about food a lot. Ate when I was hungry and didn't care about leaving half a plate - if I was full I stopped.

I know a lot of people have struggled with food and weight their whole lives but I let it creep up in a gradual way, not noticing bad habits forming. Some of it is also middle age and some I think the way society operates now. About a decade ago is when buying food on the go and things like Starbucks lattes started becoming a more regular thing for me.

When I first started working and when my kids were young none of that stuff was much of a thing. Maybe when you had the odd day out to the seaside, a theme park or a big city. I haven't made packed lunches in years but at one time that's what you'd do. Now it's easy to think oh we'll just find a Costa to go to.

Typing this I realise it makes me sound really old but there's truth in it. 😄

GingerLiberalFeminist · 12/09/2024 17:49

I took my first dose last night. What I've noticed mostly today is i have barely vaped or drank pepsi max. I was caning both of them as stressed. The urge to do so has just gone. So has the urge to eat. One bar of chocolate has lasted me all day (normally gone immediately!). Admittedly it was a big bar but still!

Seldomseenkid · 12/09/2024 19:35

Help! I’ve had the worst runs for days and I’m looking for any positive stories about it only lasting a few days. First jab Sunday and day fine but since Tuesday morning I’ve had diarrhoea every two hours in the daytime. Immodium does nothing! Weirdly I feel fine otherwise but I really don’t want to take my next dose if this is how my body reacts!

20bloodypounds · 12/09/2024 20:34

I'm on day 2 of 2nd jab and lots of appetite suppression.

This morning dh and I had an early trip to M&S where there was a wonderful smell of fresh baking and pastries from the oven. dh couldn't resist an apple turnover. Me - I appreciated the lovely aroma but had no desire to eat. Then coffee time and dh had a latte and a toasted teacake with butter. I had a small macchiato.

We're on holiday in our campervan so treated ourselves to lunch in a very foodie town. My starter was chicken terrine and various sweetcorn things (picture attached). It was small and delicious and I enjoyed every scrap of it. Then came my main, cod with mussels and white bean stew. I only managed about one third before I was completely full.

I'm a bit of a foodie so I am really pleased that mounjaro isn't destroying my anticipation or enjoyment of lovely things. However we've got another lunch booked on Saturday so I'm hoping for a little less appetite suppression so I can do more justice to it! We've only booked lunches because there's no way I could contemplate a 6 course tasting menu for dinner!

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/09/2024 20:51

2nd dose done.

Tomorrow is my birthday and DH wants to make me a special dinner but I'm determined to stay low carb so I'm having sirloin steak with spiced airfried potato peels (always liked the skin more than the potato and they go lovely and crispy) and asparagus.

He's going to experiment with a low carb brownie made with almond flour so we'll see how that turns out.

suze12 · 12/09/2024 21:24

Day 2 for me today. Have felt pretty cold and quite tired but had a disturbed sleep last night with my daughter getting in the bed in the middle of the night so it may also be that.

Other things I’ve noticed is it feels like I’ve pulled my hamstrings and have had a head/neck ache all day and have needed to take paracetamol & Ibruprofen. I’d built up the potential side effects a lot in my head so I think I’m quite relieved it hasn’t been worse.

I have to say I haven’t noticed an immediate or huge appetite suppression. I’ve been reasonably hungry and interested in food but probably haven’t eaten a huge amount and way less than I would normally. Can’t imagine I’ve exceeded 1000-1200 calories today. Have also drunk plenty of water as I’ve got quite a dry mouth.

I’m interested to see how tomorrow goes. I’m hoping the suppression kicks in a bit more tbh as think I could quite easily still eat a fair bit!

SpottyBumPony · 12/09/2024 21:36

Ok. Sooooo my nutless day in London…

The morning was brilliant, I took a coffee from home on the train, kept up with water in the office. In the meeting I was tempted by packets of haribo but with a little word to myself I resisted.

I had a pastrami roll from Pret for lunch and a juice knicker which I’ll come on to in the next post.

I knicked a banana from the office but then we went for ‘1 drink’ after work. 4 glasses of red later on the tube with my work mates I remembered I’d left my car at the station this morning.

FUCK

I’m on the train now, I’ll get a cab, add to my ringo parking and pick up a the car tomorrow.

Plus. Plus. Plus Point, I could have killed for a KFC at Waterloo by swerved burger-king for another Pret. I’ve eaten my bruised banana and a third of a Pret Beef Baguette

SpottyBumPony · 12/09/2024 21:38

Week 1, day 7 here.
I didn’t think I’d had much suppression but I suddenly noticed how much hungrier I am today.
I’ll be interested to see whether I’ve lost any weight when I weigh tomorrow.
Weirdly, my period has started, which I wasn’t expecting - it’s only a couple of weeks since my last one. Wondering if it’s Mounjaro or everyone’s old friend, perimenopause.

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 12/09/2024 22:26

Making the best of the situation @SpottyBumPony - geeat attitude! Don't forget to pay for your parking (voice of bitter experience and an expensive walk of shame.....)

I don't know if this is the right place to put this but after spending some time on Facebook groups and either being spammed with codes or often seeing horrible comments, mumsnet has such a better vibe! I wouldn't have found it if I wasn't looking at the monj price site and I'm so glad I did, I think it's down to not being confident with people seeing my profile or something like that, some sort of anxiety, I guess anyway, I'm gonna stop the waffle now.

I didnt have it quite so severe but my stomach was unhappy when I first started. Settled within a couple days. On my third injection now and have had no issues with second and third ones.

Welcome, glad you’ve took the plunge and joined us over here. The weight loss chats are full of friendly people, happy to offer support, guidance and advice.
Please don’t feel anxious (I know easier said than done) and it’s fine to waffle too - we all do! ☺️

It's finally my turn! First weigh in and I've lost 7.5lbs... so excited

EJA24 · 13/09/2024 06:24

@famcynags Fantastic! Congratulations! 🌟

Sadteacher · 13/09/2024 06:32

@famcynags that’s incredible!

my second weigh in today and I have lost 1.5lbs so 4lbs total over 2 weeks. If I lose half a stone on the first pen I’ll be happy, it’s such a low dose anything will be a bonus.
The only bad habit I have is wine, I’m still enjoying it but probably having a few less glasses over the week.

Well done! And well done @Sadteacher

i am still waiting for my period so still haven’t weighed since the morning after taking my first dose. So 10 days. I have the usual period back ache so am expecting it any moment.

I will weigh in a few days. I do feel different though. I am sure my stomach isn’t quite the same shape and my over hang seems slightly smaller 😂 that could all be in my head though lol

Oh no, I hope your head is ok this morning.

Well done on resisting the kfc!

Did you feel ok after the wine? I’m only in the early days but made the decision to avoid alcohol whilst on the injections as I’m worried about it exacerbating the side effects. Would be interested to hear how you found it.

I’ll have to try that Pret shot..looks delicious.

SpottyBumPony · 13/09/2024 08:06

I’m feeling alright this morning, the benefit of a long train journey home is you don’t drink as late in to the night then you get the journey to sober up a bit for bed.

I ended up eating the whole baguette on the way which I needed. Just logging on for work now but I am going to WFH 😆

I don’t drink that regularly so it was quite a treat to have a good laugh in the pub. I haven’t had any major side effects from the MJ anyway.

I’d better walk to the station at lunchtime to get the car though!
