I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Morning all. Some great results coming in.
Week 1 day 7 for me. One more day until jab no 2. I'm interested to see if I repeat the experience of week 1. Instant suppression for me after jab one, I'm aware I am one of the lucky ones with that. Can feel the suppression is wearing off now. Off to Google if there are any studies into long term suppression after reaching goal and stopping the medication. If I find anything I'll report back.

I was wondering about the long term suppression once we stop the jab. I'll be really interested to see what you find. I'm going to look too so perhaps we can compare notes.

Itisallgoingtobeok Great idea. I think it's likely that virtually everyone who has decided to try Mounjaro didn't take the decision lightly, and has already had years of trying various forms of weight loss, but maintenance is always an issue.

doodleschnoodle · 12/09/2024 09:10

How has everyone decided whether to go up in dose or not? I'm just entering week 2 on 2.5, down 7lbs and have got pretty good appetite suppression, struggling to make it to 1,000 calories each day! But then I'm like 'but what if 5 is EVEN BETTER' 🤦‍♀️

Elephantino · 12/09/2024 09:50

Morning everyone well done on the new losses 👏

I am week 2 day 5, I'm going to jab on Saturday this week instead of Sunday then Friday next week so that I'm getting the suppression over the weekend going forwards. This will help me, I'm not bad on weekdays.

Still fasting till 1pm then eating 2 meals a day with no snacks. Same as I ate before just less and continuing to drink 2-3 litres of water.

I think I'm going to one of the slower losers but as long as it's going down I am happy 😊

Elephantino · 12/09/2024 10:07

@doodleschnoodle at this time I think I might stay on 2.5, I'm getting good suppression for 5 days with it. I don't want to get to the stage where I'm barely eating because I think that would cause me problems when I'm not longer using the pens, I don't want to gain the weight back by eating normally.

I'm going to do whatever the Dr tells me to do and will l discuss it with them to understand their reasoning and let them know if anything isn't working.

I I just don't feel informed enough to be able to make the decision without guidance from the experts so will lean on them to decide. Currently the plan is to take 4 weeks at 2.5 and then move to 5mg for the 5th dose onwards. My glucose readings will feed into that decision and I think may also mean adaptations to my Metformin doses.

Nomorethanthree73 · 12/09/2024 10:40

Hi all, I started on the 5th Sept and have just taken my second dose. My goal is a 2st loss and am 3lbs down after the first week, which I'm delighted with. I'm happy to go slow and steady and it has felt effortless. I'm partly doing this because I have an autoimmune disease (RA) which is much better managed when I'm at least a stone less than I am currently. I had my regular blood tests yesterday and the inflammation rate in my body is down two thirds from a month ago. I'm not sure if this is the MJ but I'll take it . I haven't told anyone in real life and am finding this thread really helpful.

After months of thinking about it I finally took the plunge and jabbed myself on Monday

Height: 5ft3
SW: 16:1.8lbs

I have been on a slow weightloss journey. Starting 1st April at 17.7lbs and thought I would try this to speed up the process as I don't calorie count 😅. My 30th in 9 weeks and hoping I'll be about 18lbs down by then but we will see

That’s a really good question. Something I have been wondering as well.

I saw a video on TikTok this morning from a woman in the US who hasn’t lost loads on it. Like over 100lb. She was saying you can get caught up trying to chase maximum suppression 100% of the time and go up and up when you don’t need to. She isn’t a medical expert but she said when she realised she was doing that and dropped down a dose it gave her chance to practice healthier food habits. Because she wasn’t completely suppressed, but had some suppression to help her make the right choices. That might not work for everyone though.

I am going to guess it’s different for everyone. I am feeling suppression on 2.5ml but not to the point I am not eating planning on going up to 5ml when I get my next pen.

But also I haven’t weighed myself yet (9 days in) as my period is due. My weight can fluctuate massively around this time, so I don’t want to get weighed and feel really disheartened. If I get weighed after my period and I have lost a lot, I might stick at 2.5ml for another 4 weeks.

Peachesandfizz · 12/09/2024 11:23

Down 8lb since starting on 1st September.
Due my third jab on Saturday and can feel the suppression wearing off now. Absolutely no side effects other than the weird sore skin during the first week. So far, so good. :)

OvaHere · 12/09/2024 11:34

Second full day here. Took my first injection of 2.5 on Tuesday night. I did have quite good suppression yesterday but as we creep towards lunch today I feel like it's wearing off a bit.

Had eggs and spinach for breakfast around 9am, have just come off a work call and was feeling peckish. Had one of those Graze flapjack things and feel like I could eat something else. Starting to think about lunch a bit.

I guess I'm not one of those super responders on 2.5. I'm sort of okay with that as I was worried about being super sensitive to it and having terrible side effects and I would say I've had none really apart from feeling slightly cold yesterday morning.

I did hope to get maybe 4 days of decent suppression though so these doesn't bode well for the weekend. Will have to dig out some reserves of willpower to get through to Tuesday next week.

SpiderMother · 12/09/2024 12:00

I'm due my second injection this evening. My stats for week one (plus the dieting immediately before:

Height.- 5 ft 2
1/9/24 - 12 stone 3.7 (weight when registered - pm and after meal out)
5/9/24 - 11 stone 11.7 (1st injection - 2.5)
12/9/24 - 11 stone 7.1 (2nd injection - 2.5)
Week 1 loss - 4.6 lbs
Loss to date - 10.6lbs
Goal - 9 stone 7

I am roughly aiming to stick to the fast 800 type plan which I've done before but this is giving me support to stick to it. I would say that my suppression is mixed and has definitely worn off, but I am not interested in food so I'm able to eat when I'm hungry but not overeat or snack.

Hope everyone else is feeling positive today.

Having just said all this, I've made 3 slices of malt loaf with spread and only ate two before I reached the 'I don't want any more of this' feeling. So clearly it's doing something still. Old me would polish off 4 slices no problem.

SpiderMother · 12/09/2024 12:12

To add, in case it is helpful, I think its really key to note that I've lost weight because I've been following Fast 800 principles. I'm not losing weight because of the injection on its own, but it has given me the tools to stick to the principles which I wasn't able to without its help. I do think that some kind of tracking of what you are eating will therefore have an important impact on whether MJ works for you and how quickly.

SacreBleugh · 12/09/2024 12:27

I've just tried to inject my first dose and I think my own is faulty. I can push the dose knob in. I've read the instructions a million times and I can't work out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help?

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 12/09/2024 12:27

Half way through week 2. Week.1.was good but the hunger noise is creeping in early this week. I've no real symptoms apart from a stiff neck the first day or so. Will definitely need to make to 5mg for next month.

ChungKing · 12/09/2024 12:30

I'm feeling absolutely freezing, but as a PP said, it's dropped 10 degrees here in the space of a few days, and I have anaemia anyway, so it could be that.

I got a bit shaky and lightheaded midweek (took my first dose on Friday), but I feel pretty good now. Very little food noise, and when it does appear I can easily avoid it.

All in all, I'm feeling very optimistic.

I didn't really respond to 2.5 either but have just completed my first week and lost 3.5lbs without feeling like I was dieting at all.

HOL2024 · 12/09/2024 12:52

Is anyone else taking this with the nexplanon implant? I haven’t had a period since having it in but all of a sudden 2 days after jab 1 I started.

Hi @SacreBleugh did the pen prime ok? Did it twist out to the 1 position easily?

SacreBleugh · 12/09/2024 13:48

@SilenceInside I think I've resolved it thanks! I didn't have the needle clicked in properly. I wasted a bit of the dose but I think I got most of it. Thanks for your response.

SilenceInside · 12/09/2024 14:00

@SacreBleugh glad it's all sorted!

Whereisthewine · 12/09/2024 15:04

Finding it utterly fascinating how unfussed I am about eating - total game changer in terms of bad food habits!!!

SacreBleugh · 12/09/2024 15:14

It's an hour or so since I took the first dose and I need to stop the internal dialogue! ("did I do it right? Am I hungry? Will it work? Do I feel weird? Am I hungry? Has it worked?")

Fingers crossed!
