I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Im Gonna wait for an October thread as I cant start till then as switching from Rybelsus to Mounjaro and I need to leave a week between

poppy80 · 11/09/2024 19:27

Week 2, Day 4

I've definitely more appetite than week 1. I've even been snacking in chocolate. I'm a bit concerned that after a big loss last week, things will stall.

OP posts:
jollyfedup · 11/09/2024 19:30

@poppy80 I feel the exact same way! Just had some egg rice with green veg. But was definitely more hungry today than last week and needed a taste of chocolate earlier! It's hard as want to stay motivated but feel easily disheartened.

Babycakes39 · 11/09/2024 19:33

I've only lost 1.5lbs this week which is a bit disappointing if I'm honest!

Richtea67 · 11/09/2024 19:41

Hi, I'm collecting my first jab tomorrow from Asda. Do people find it better injecting in the evening or morning? Does it make any difference to side effects etc?

20bloodypounds · 11/09/2024 19:45

@Whereisthewine someone on another thread suggested travel sickness pills for nausea. I have a pack with me just in case, but haven't needed them so far.

@babycakes don't be despondent, that is better than 1.5lbs on. Everyone's journey on this is different. It's tempting to read lots of posts and hanker after the best person's loss from w1 and the best loss from w2 and the best loss from week 3... Those are probably not happening to the same person.

JemOfAWoman · 11/09/2024 21:04

Ordered mine via Voy and took my first jab on Tuesday (yesterday). So far no side effects, I'm tired and have a headache but I'm so busy at work I think it's work rather than the jab. Found the jab fine - watched the video a couple of times and then did it.
Got my coaching call next week which I'm open minded about but we'll see what happens.

Good luck everyone

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 11/09/2024 21:17

@alwaysscared That sounds like a great first week, well done! It's got to be sustainable to work. Some people have huge drops for a few weeks and then plateau for a bit, some people have bodies that really consistently drop 2lbs a week. It is all moving in the direction of being more healthy!

@Doobi- ooh, I love a foodie check in! Tonight was baked sweet potato (#fibre!), with some beans and 2 fried eggs. Tomorrow is some homemade Thai prawn and potato curry. Yesterday was baked salmon fillet with roast onions and peppers, spanish butter bean stew.

@notenoughcaffeine @caffelattetogo
Don't be disheartened yet - remember 2.5 is the dose for getting your body used to MJ. It's not the therapeutic dose, so keep on going. Like @20bloodypounds says, we see each big loss....but it's always a mix of people. I've also found that trying to avoid constantly checking MJ threads etc is a good help - thinking about dieting all day makes it seem like way more of a struggle for me.

I've just done 2.5mg dose 2, did the first last Thursday (the minute it arrived!), but need an early start so have got it out the way tonight. Will report back any noticeable changes. I didn't really have any side fx from dose 1, other than definite feelings of fullness pretty quickly when eating - and not feeling peckish throughout the day.

I started at 98kg and weighed this morning at 95.2kg - I tend to have 2kg fluctuations in weight over my cycle though, so no chicken counting! Am feeling positive about this though. I am going on an away day on 11 Oct which will be very active in the wilds of Scotland, so would love to be carrying a bit less heft then!

The smaller appetite has made me think about what I am eating more - not just 2 slices of PB toast to 'fill me up'. I've enjoyed it so far!

Sampler · 11/09/2024 21:56

@Richtea67 i took mine on Sunday morning and I’m glad I did as I was quite tired and was able to have a nap - but everyone is different. Maybe do evening if you have to go to work the next day ?

Ggplot · 11/09/2024 22:01

Congrats everyone some really good losses from everyone, which helps with the motivation.

Week 1 for me and my second jab is tomorrow night. It’s definitely helped with food noise and my snacking has reduced right down. Although I am feeling really cold the last day or two - has anyone else felt this and does it go away? I’m normally a bit hot these days as in peri 🥵 so it’s quite a change.

I forgot to weigh myself though last Thursday so will be doing so on Friday morning - have avoided the scales so far in case I’m disappointed.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 11/09/2024 22:08

I started tonight but am a little worried as couldn't feel the needle at all. See how I feel in the morning!

I'm 5'9", 14 stone and would like to lose 3st.

85reasons · 11/09/2024 22:14

caffelattetogo · 11/09/2024 18:02

I'm on day 3 and not noticing any effects. I'm hoping I'm not one of those people this doesn't work for. I had such high hopes.

Stick with it - can you message your provider and ask advice? I can imagine it must be frustrating when you read so many other people instantly feeling the effects. Don't give up yet!

Purplebaker · 11/09/2024 22:39

Hello, I hope I'm ok to join.
I've debated Mounjaro for a while - tried all sorts to lose weight, nothing seems to work.
I've read this thread from start to finish since the weekend and took the plunge - it arrived today and I've had the first injection.
I'm so nervous but excited to start this journey - lots to lose though so it's going to be a long one.
Smile

Yes, I was frozen yesterday after taking my second dose in the morning. I’d ended up missing breakfast and lunch due to one thing and another. I find I go cold if I don’t eat enough, I’ve heard that your body creates heat when it’s using energy to deal with you food. So if we haven’t eaten, there is nothing to burn if that makes sense? Not 100% on the science of that one - but it seems in alignment with my experience!

InfoSecInTheCity · 12/09/2024 06:39

End of week 1 of Mounjaro and will be taking 2nd dose tonight.

I've lost 3.8lbs this week, I started dieting a few weeks before starting though so totals so far are:

SW (19th Aug) - 208.1lb, BMI 31.6
CW: 204.3 lb, BMI 31

Total loss: 13.2 lbs

Doobi · 12/09/2024 06:43

Morning,

I didn't weigh myself properly this morning, I usually do at a set regular time each day but I was up a lot earlier this morning for work.

I'll just count tomorrow's weigh in as my overall final for the week before my next Jan, tomorrow evening.

Me and my partner have decided to do intermittent fasting. I usually don't eat until later on in the day anyway and would rather stop eating after a certain time, so we already kind of do this.

The only difference is, I'm only drinking water/very diluted cordial in the morning until 11am-ish. It will be the same after 7pm.

I'm feeling a bit more optimistic. I'm going to get some insulin needles today and try the 'magic dose' tomorrow, if I have enough/worth doing so.

GargoylesofBeelzebub · 12/09/2024 06:48

End of week 1 for me.

I don't feel I've had much suppression on this dose so I'm surprised to find I've lost 3.5lbs!

Took my 2nd dose today at lunchtime and hardly wanted any of my dinner or the beer that DH had bought me.

Mrsw123 · 12/09/2024 06:51

Just done weigh in for week one and am 6.5lb down!!!

This is honestly amazing - I've had no side effects and have eaten the healthiest ever. Weirdest thing must be having no cravings - really not fussed over anything!

Having 2nd injection tonight and hope week 2 is as successful

SpottyBumPony · 12/09/2024 06:56

I left my bloody nuts at home 🤦🏻‍♀️

85reasons · 12/09/2024 07:01

@Mrsw123 that's amazing - well done. I'm not far behind you (day 5 week 1) and I think I'm 5lb down so far.

I'm travelling with work and have just had the hotel breakfast. What I'm finding very curious and very much enjoying is that I'm not having to think "do I choose the low carb option to stave off any risk of bingeing on carbs/toast/pastries, or do I just consider it a free for all and fill my boots?" It's very refreshing to be free of the feeling that I need to stick to a certain diet 'framework' in order to eat moderately.

I just wandered up to the buffet, naturally chose some fruit and yoghurt, but with some scrambled eggs, a slice of toast and butter and a sausage. However I only wanted a quarter of the toast and now have no desire to eat any more. It's a revelation but also makes me really sad that this must be how it is for people who don't experience these cravings and the inevitable lifetime of weight struggles. It is exhausting.

I lost about 5.5 stone 4 years ago, kept it off quite easily till last year when a year of career stressors (new job, well out of comfort zone) plus selling/buying house while navigating single parenthood of teens going through mental health issues tipped me into that zone where I can no longer 'keep a lid on' my eating and two stone went back on.

It's been so depressing to come to terms with the fact I haven't got this weight thing nailed after all. But I'm here, and hopeful...

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 12/09/2024 07:16

@GingerLiberalFeminist minist Same! I couldn't feel either of the doses I've taken either. If I wasn't watching, I wouldn't have believed I'd done anything!

I wondered about the feeling cold side effect - and then remembered its dropped about 10 degrees in under a week where I am, so no wonder I feel a bit chilly!

Argh @SpottyBumPony tybumpony, you've made me realise me too! Bet my other half finds them and enjoys the lot. Luckily I have a spare pack in the kitchen...

Off to work in the office today, with lunch packed (spanish tortilla with peppers, artichokes, yoghurt with some overnight oats/chia seed mix). Late meeting which doesn't start until 6pm, so made tonight's dinner yesterday so I can have it easily when I get home. Have a great day all!

Maybe on an evening, leading into the weekend so that any side effects can be slept off or allow you to rest? My side effects have been minimal so this isn’t to say there will be any but best to plan ahead! ☺️

Itisallgoingtobeok · 12/09/2024 07:27

I have just done my first week's weigh in and I am delighted, I've lost 7.4lbs!

SW: 228.8lb
CW: 221.4lbs
GW: 140lbs
Height 5ft 6"

I have had next to no side effects. I felt a bit queasy on day 1, but a peppermint tea seemed to sort that out. Other than that, I have felt fine. As others have mentioned, the food noise has disappeared completely, and I am just not interested in sweet foods, or junk food at all. I do get hungry, but it isn't that all consuming "I must eat now" type of hunger, I just feel a bit peckish, and can easily wait if I need to.

I am sure weightless will slow down soon, but that's fine with me. Looking forward to next week!

GingerLiberalFeminist · 12/09/2024 07:48

I can feel a sore spot today where it went in so I think we are ok!

Whereisthewine · 12/09/2024 07:53

Some brilliant losses well done everyone!!! I'm now on my 4th day and finally managed to poo lol!!! Trying to hold off weighing until my second dose due on Sunday. Appetite was a bit better yesterday hoping that doesn't mean suppression worn off. Will buy some travel sickness tablets, thanks for the suggestion posted here SmileSmile
