I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

@alwaysscared it was just a weird sicky feeling I wasn't actually sick at all but honestly don't let that put you off 1 day out of 7 is nothing and I feel great again this morning. Its so worth it couldn't be happier.

Arlanymor · 08/09/2024 09:54

poppy80 · 08/09/2024 08:15

I've just had my second dose and first weigh in.

SW 13.6
S MI 31.3

CW 12.12
C BMI 30

Week 1: 8 pound loss.

I can't quite believe it. I've weighed myself four times just to make sure!

Congrats!

85reasons · 08/09/2024 09:57

Congrats @poppy80 and others for the weight loss! Had my first jab yesterday but only found these threads on MN yesterday too so have been reading around it all and have lots of questions still.

Curious about the 'extra dose' but completely unclear how this would work - shall I not think about it till I get to the end, and does it mean that basically in every pen there are 5 doses so last 5 weeks not 4? I have not read all the small print - I ordered via The Family Chemist and assume I need to check in with them to work out if I should go up to the next dose etc... had better go and read it all properly now that I've started. 😆

I'm 54 and had lost lots of weight a few years ago, some of it has come back on and over the past few months I just have not been able to find my mojo when it comes to sorting it out.

SW 201.6 a bit worse than I thought
GW 160 at 5'8"

So far today my appetite already seems reduced, let's see how it goes..

Arlanymor · 08/09/2024 10:01

@20bloodypounds @Itisallgoingtobeok

This is the only side effect I have had since starting yesterday. I always dream and I always remember it. But these were a lot more vivid and specific and stuck with me longer after waking than others. My sleep is generally crap so I usually wake a couple of times anyway, but both times I woke up I could remember these dreams in depth and was still feeling the emotions associated with them.

One was about an ex and I was sad for about an hour afterwards. They weren’t nightmares per se, they were just about difficult situations. I’m fine now and if it’s that as bad as it gets for me then it’s a small price to pay to be honest. Hope you are both ok. Just about to do my first proper weigh in as a starting point.

Seldomseenkid · 08/09/2024 10:02

Hi all. I’ve been reading the threads for a while and thinking about this for a while. An unexpected short-term pay bump means I can start this month and commit to it for around 6 months. I’ve lost successfully before but I’ve been adding and losing the same weight for a couple of years. My BMI is 31 so I really need to do this!

I got Mounjaro this week and hid it in the fridge, I don’t want anyone to know in case it does not work. I injected this morning and it was really easy. I’m going to forward plan some healthy meals for the week later on.

I’m not the best at posting regularly but check back in on Sundays with an update and I read the thread daily. Good luck to everyone starting this September!

@poppy80 so pleased for you too! Can't wait to see how far we all get with this x

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 08/09/2024 10:24

Week 1

SW 14.9
CW 14.6

Not a huge amount but definitely a step in the right direction. Onwards and downward hopefully from here.

Thelastdietever · 08/09/2024 10:29

Omg what a week feeling full lost of appetite and last night I did fancy an ice cream but couldn’t eat it all as not enjoying it. Weigh day whoop whoop 7lb loss I’m so happy as BMI just over 50 now 49.4 but still a little sceptical let’s see what this week holds

Well done everyone starting and losing

SW 21st 9lb
CW 21st 2lb
loss 7lb
Goal at the moment is to do my cycling jacket up without it being tight (only small goals for now)

Elephantino · 08/09/2024 10:35

Congrats on everyone's weightloss 👏

1st weigh in for me:
SW 222.2 lbs
CW 218.9 lbs
Lost 3.3lbs

I will be honest and say that my Saturday eating was the same as every week. Had breakfast and lunch. Had an ice cream when out for the day. Ate a full Chinese takeaway and drank a bottle of wine then a packet of crisps. Old habits die hard it seems!

Woke up with a hungry rumbling tummy.

I definitely felt less effects from Friday onwards so might try to slowly change my injection day so I'm covered better at the weekends. During the week at work I found it incredibly easy to fast till lunch.

I actually gained 3lbs on the scales from yesterday to today - probably the salt in the chinese. Will continue with drinking 2 to 3 litres of water to help get rid of this.

2nd injection done.

violetsunrise · 08/09/2024 10:41

I’m on day 6 of week one of 2.5mg. Really surprised at how my week has gone so far - in a good way. I felt the appetite suppression was almost instant (is that in the mind though - who knows). I’ve managed to stick to a calorie deficit with no thoughts of eating over it. I’m a sucker for crisps but haven’t had any all week or even the inkling for any. I’ve had one can of diet fizzy juice all week too - again, unheard of for me. It’s been so nice to be free of everything revolving around food and being able to make healthier food choices.

Weigh day tomorrow!

Under no illusions every week will be the same.

violetsunrise · 08/09/2024 10:48

@Seldomseenkid I’m the same, haven’t told anyone I’ve started. Too much negativity from people and I so want this to work. Good luck with your journey 😊

InfoSecInTheCity · 08/09/2024 10:54

I've always weighed daily when actively monitoring my weight, it allows me to adjust for blips like eating a particularly salty meal, doing lots of exercise or period starting. I can see the overall trend and whether it's going up, down or staying steady.

I am another 'oldie'. My menopause was late and although I'd put on quite a bit of weight, I managed to lose it through following a good healthy diet plan and gently upping my exercise (definitely not a gymn bunny here!). 5 years ago, at age 58 I had a steady, healthy BMI and my BP had reduced to normal. Then came lockdown, and lockdown wine. A low carb higher fat diet (which had worked and been sustainable) became a high carb higher fat diet - disastrous! Back to being overweight, and this time I couldn't shift more than 3 or 4 pounds. Then over the past two years andother 20 pounds. I'm the heaviest I ever been. Naturally slight, slim hips, not much bottom, but huge round tummy and horrible big boobs. This has to change!

I'm on day 5 and I've not felt tempted by crisps. That's a miracle!

@Arlanymor I dreamt I was at a big feast with stalls and stall of buffet food. But I arrived late and everyone was clearing away the savoury dishes and replacing them with cakes. I was running around in a panic shouting "I don't like cake!" Grin

ReadyForAction · 08/09/2024 11:25

Week 1, day 2. First morning and am feeling totally normal. I slept really well too.

Like a PP I have had clexane injects which were very painful and left black bruises. This was a walk in the park because the needles are so thin. I was still apprehensive, it was a small scratch. Thanks for all the advice about the first dose.

I have told my closest friend. She was very supportive.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 08/09/2024 11:41

It's interesting that some of us haven't told anyone. I haven't either. I am worried about the reaction from friends and family, so I am just going to keep quiet and brush off any questions as a new healthy eating plan and exercise. To be fair that is true, I am eating better and exercising more.

Everyone is doing so well!

LucyBnotG · 08/09/2024 11:46

@InfoSecInTheCity are you recording daily on excel? That set up looks fab. I currently weigh daily/record weekly but this looks great. Did you format it yourself or is there a template online somewhere?

Also, well done with all your progress!

Whereisthewine · 08/09/2024 12:30

Well done everyone on their first week loss! My pen is here!!! Plan on taking tonight...

Richtea67 · 08/09/2024 12:35

Hi, thanks for the thread. I've just ordered my first pen, went through Asda Pharmacy as trusted name and like the convenience of collecting it. SW 14.4 stones and BMI 36.8. GW 11 stones. Normally when I'm trying to cut down all I'm doing is thinking about food, so I'm hoping this helps. Are people going to be following a specific diet, or just healthy eating?

Yes it's an excel spreadsheet i created, I love a good spreadsheet 😂

HOL2024 · 08/09/2024 14:41

I have the fit track scales so use the app they came with to track calories and weight. It’s really user friendly.

Morecoffeeforme · 08/09/2024 14:41

I did my first injection last night and I’ve only had 3 coffees with milk so far today.

no desire for food at all. I would normally be ravenous by now.

does it usually kick in this quickly or is it partly mental?!

I took an anti histamine for the nausea and it really helped if anyone is struggling

Purplehearts757 · 08/09/2024 15:52

Day 3 of week 2 for me,i have felt hungry today 😏 but went to the fridge and ate some ham! Normaly it would be crisps or a chocolate.welldone with the loses!

Nomdejeur · 08/09/2024 15:58

Hi, I tried mounjaro before and found it very effective, even at the starter dose. I started again in August and it was useless, I thought maybe it was because I’d grown immune (if that’s even possible), but I just took my last dose and noticed the exp date was May!! Could this be a factor in its effectiveness?
