I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

First injection at 9:30pm tonight - right thigh, didn’t feel it, bled a bit afterwards and there is bruising to the injection site, but to be fair if someone just looks at me I tend to bruise! But didn’t hurt and still doesn’t hurt.

Deliberately did it later on in the day, so that if side effects come on I will hopefully sleep through the onset at least. 87kg, aiming to get to 77kg, then 67kg and finally 63.5kg. I’m not setting myself a massive endgoal all at once, just bit by bit and I am not timing myself either, just looking to lose steadily and sensibly. Will see how the first four jabs will go before I think about upping the dose, although as I only have four needles the final dose will be 5mg and will try and get the bonus dose out at the same time as the official final dose.

Have plain yogurt ready for breakfast tomorrow with some apple and seeds and a teaspoon of protein powder, so will see at what point I feel hungry enough to eat. Also plenty of peppermint tea and fresh ginger in case of nausea. But one step at a time! Hope everyone else’s journey is going well!

Just checking in the thread to say that I've been on a night out this evening and for the first time, have actually enjoyed it properly without obsessively thinking about food! (When we will eat, what we will eat, when will we eat after that, having sweet drinks etc), I've had 1 drink and a very small meal and have enjoyed the company.

I have ADHD and ASC, and have a very busy mind at times. I'm waiting for ADHD medication but I'm wondering if Mounjaro has given me a glimpse of what it's like to not feel obsessive/preoccupied with the next dopamine hit!

WouldYouLikeMeToSpellThatForYou · 07/09/2024 22:09

I'm only a few days in as well, started Tuesday so still in week 1 2.5mg and already such a shift

OldKnees · 07/09/2024 22:11

@WouldYouLikeMeToSpellThatForYou I’m also wondering that. Edit: about whether Mounjaro will reduce the need for other dopamine hits.

@OldKnees I really hope so! It's so strange to not be constantly thinking, I feel like I'm processing less thoughts, everything is just quieter

I'm not sure if its the 1st dose or placebo, but I've had no issues at all with sticking to low calories. DH offered a curry tonight and I initially said not, then said I would have it to be sociable but would only want the curry, no rice or anything else. And then we both decided to stick to salad and I was totally happy.

My eating today:

Home latte for breakfast (never usually eat breakfast anyway)
Mocha out for lunch, plus a small feta pasty because I was given it for free.
Protein shake
Piri piri chicken salad - ate 3/4s and was full

Its about 900 calories in total, aiming to be around 800 as I've done the fast 800 before and it was amazingly successful.

I also did a 45 minute peloton ride. All in all it felt like a really successful day.

ReadyForAction · 08/09/2024 02:14

Started 8pm, 7 SEP.

Got everyone else snacks. I didn't have any. I'm taking photographs of I have consumed and estimating calories

Total I had, a BLT, mini yoghurt raisins and, small bag pretsyb, a platter for one ( fruit, veggies, fruit, hummus, homemade tuna mayo,, cheese cube, sliced chicken and Parma ham). No crackers or French bread. No alcohol.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 08/09/2024 07:33

I ate a lot more yesterday (day 2) than the day before. I did feel hungry, but that's not surprising given how early it is and how little I ate the day before.

Day 1: fruit and Greek yogurt, small bowl of chopped salad and chickpeas, cheese and sweetcorn pancake (couldn't finish that)

Day 2: fruit and Greek yoghurt, cheese sandwich, chopped salad, 3 (small) sausage rolls, small portion of mackerel and broccoli pasta, 2 rows of a big bar of fruit and nut.

Haven't felt tempted by alcohol at all which is unusual for me.

Morecoffeeforme · 08/09/2024 08:10

Did my first injection last night and feeling a little sicky this morning.

im aiming for 1000 cals per day maximum.

SpottyBumPony · 08/09/2024 08:14

Week 1 day 5 yesterday and I started to feel more hungry. I’m not restricting food groups as then I’ll end up binging so went to a lovely cafe for breakfast and had a bit of cake. Shrinkflation meant it was about a third smaller than it used to be (big portions) but I still only ate half then happily left the rest. Thoroughly enjoyed it though!

I had a handful of olives for lunch, spag bol with hidden carrot, cheese and extra onions for dinner then an apple after.

Not calorie counting

poppy80 · 08/09/2024 08:15

I've just had my second dose and first weigh in.

SW 13.6
S MI 31.3

CW 12.12
C BMI 30

Week 1: 8 pound loss.

I can't quite believe it. I've weighed myself four times just to make sure!

OP posts:
Justasmallgless · 08/09/2024 08:19

First week weigh in
SW 16st
CW 15st 7

7lbs loss in first week and just as important, I've lost 6.5 inches from waist, hips and back

Took second injection yesterday and been really queasy so on the hunt for travel sickness tablets today

20bloodypounds · 08/09/2024 08:38

Well done @poppy80 and @Justasmallgless I imagine you feel delighted and motivated to continue.

Is anyone else having really crazy dreams? Every night since I took my first injection I've been having bizzare and complicated dreams. Not nightmares, just complicated stories. And I remember them when I wake up.

Itisallgoingtobeok · 08/09/2024 08:50

@20bloodypounds - came to ask the same question about dreams. As you say they are not bad, but really complex and intricate slightly surreal stories. It's very odd.

I'm on day 4 after my first injection and so far so good. No major side effects. Looking forward to weighing in next week to see how things have been.

Samisam86 · 08/09/2024 08:52

Well done everyone on first weigh in. Amazing results.

Here's my week 1 results
SW - 13 St 4.5
CW - 12 St 9.5
Total loss on mounjaro - 9 lbs

Lost 9 lbs! Can't believe it, over the moon with that. I had already lost 14.5lbs from my heaviest before starting this so now total loss of 23.5 lbs. I've just had my second jab now. I've been having crazy dreams but I quite like them haha they feel really real. Yesterday was the first day I really felt any side effects and I felt awful all day. Like a sickness just off feeling that lasted the whole day hoping for a better day today because I was ready for quitting yesterday with how ill I felt. Here's to another good week.

HippoPortlyMouse · 08/09/2024 08:57

So pleased for you @poppy80 and @Justasmallgless - well done! Did you notice good suppression or have significantly lower appetite most of the week?

Weigh in/2nd jab for me tomorrow. Here's hoping for losses for all us September MJers!

SunshineAutumn · 08/09/2024 09:02

Thanks @Forevermermaid @OldKnees

Gutted. I've pulled my recycling apart but can't find it.

Emailed them yesterday but they've not got back to me. Don't think they work weekends. Should be on my third day. So frustrating!

WanderingRed · 08/09/2024 09:02

Morning all 😊

I’ve be lurking a while reading all the threads, so much great information & experiences.
I’ve been thinking about doing this the last year, and reading the threads helped me decide.

I’m only 5’2 and currently 14.5, the heaviest I’ve been for a few years, but I am an emotional eater and yo-yo a lot as I really have to watch what I’m eating anyway to not put on weight.

I've found now I’m older, peri meno really isn’t helping and I’ve been in a slump, especially with general life stress & a recent bereavement, I feel I’m spiralling and everything is out of sync… argh plus I’ve started with bad hip pain 😳

I took my first injection Friday morning when it arrived, side effects have been minimal, bit of the runs coming home from the school run, so a very fast walk to get home!
I’ve definitely felt colder the last few days, feeling full & no food noise. This is marvellous, I’ve just been eating small meals.

Hubby is a gym lover, so I’m going to be using his protein powder, got aloe vera tabs to help stomach issues & back on my peri meno supplements.

As I’m so short, I have realistically about 5/6 stone to lose to be medically in a healthy weight/bmi.
I will be aiming for 4 initially as that will help me be able to get back to exercising without pain, then to keep going depending on how my body looks & feels.

Sorry, I’ve been rambling lol 😂

Amazing results. 👏. I’m just starting day 3. Still got a flipping dull headache. Hoping that shifts and I can emulate your amazing progress.

HippoPortlyMouse · 08/09/2024 09:08

@Samisam86 fantastic, well done! How did you find your first week?

@WanderingRed Welcome to the thread, there's quite a lot of us in peri here. I don't think it helps that weight suddenly starts to pile on our tums around this point in life. I'd always been a classic pear shape but I've now turned into a barrel!

Samisam86 · 08/09/2024 09:15

@HippoPortlyMouse I found my first week to be great I am 38 years old and it's been awful the past few years managing my weight it just doesn't come off as easy the older we get 😅. Only yesterday did I feel poorly all day. My vitamins and collagen gummies have all just arrived so hoping once I get a few of these in me I will pick up anyway. Food noise has completely gone. I would eat late at night just crap because i was bored so why not lol but that has completely gone. Loving the journey so far.

Honestly peri came on slowly and I didn't notice at first, I think I've got my other symptoms under control atm, but it really done crazy things to how I interact with food and store weight.
I just feel like a short round balloon atm and restricting calories seems to have no effect, so I think this is really going to help by balancing out all the crazy metabolic issues.

Hope your week has been good 😁

alwaysscared · 08/09/2024 09:38

@Samisam86 sorry you felt ill. In what way were you poorly? I'm so scared that the sickness will come for me (emetophobic) as I'm only on day 2 😫

alwaysscared · 08/09/2024 09:47

@Samisam86 just seen you felt sicky and off. Ignore previous post!!
