I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

I took my jab Monday night and definitely feeling hungrier yesterday and today, but equally feeling very motivated so trying to avoid falling into usual habits of eating. I just had a kiwi fruit as a snack, instead of the usual chocolate/crisps I'd normally fall onto. Also found I'm drinking a lot less fizzy drinks (I used to drink 3+ cans of non sugar fizz), I just don't fancy them as much which is nice! I am currently 8lbs down from Monday but know I might put on a bit this weekend due to fluctuations and being hungrier, but it'll still be a loss which is exciting!! Can't wait to see a 12st number on my scales, will feel like real progress. My injections site is SO bruised still, it looks awful! Going to try thigh on Monday instead.

Ticktockbangbang · 07/09/2024 11:40

spuddy4 sounds like a good choice for you. I suspect I will get the side effects on the lowest dose - but I'm forever hopeful.

spuddy4 · 07/09/2024 11:45

@Ticktockbangbang the side effects usually last for the first 48 hours for me and have been like that with every dose. They are not unmanageable, I've still gone about day to day life but by 4pm I'm exhausted.

raspberrymeringue · 07/09/2024 11:48

I did my first injection in my thigh. Plenty of meat on there as that’s a place I carry a lot of weight. No pain, no bruising, so I plan to continue with that, alternating each week. So far only side effect is a dull headache, but I had exactly the same a few years ago when I started the Cambridge very low cal diet. So I’m inclined to think it’s a side effect of what I’m not eating, rather than the actual medication.

Ticktockbangbang · 07/09/2024 12:03

spuddy4 - Probably not a good idea for me to be exhausted by 4pm on holiday 😂.

drowningbutwaving · 07/09/2024 12:12

Took my first 2.5mg last night. Feeling ok, no headaches or anything yet. I've only told my husband about taking it (partly as I wanted him to consider it too) Happy to be able to share here with others on the same journey x

EJA24 · 07/09/2024 09:20

@Whereisthewine How exciting you’re ready to get started! Mine’s in a tomato puree box as I know none of them will be interested in that 🤣

Genius 😂

alwaysscared · 07/09/2024 12:27

How do/did everyone feel on the first day after your first dose? I feel hungry, I'm putting off eating until meal times but I'm disappointed that I feel hungry!
I'm sorry all my posts are negative but I'm just so doubtful that this is going to work. It took a lot for me to actually do the jab because of my extreme fear of side effects and I'm just now convinced that I will be one of the unlucky people that it doesn't work for!

MetabolismLost · 07/09/2024 12:30

NowImNotDoingIt · 07/09/2024 10:12

Is everyone planning to go up to 5mg after the 4 weeks ?

Yes, I am. In not sure whether I’ll go higher than that though. I’d like some semblance of control, because at some point I’ll have to stop using it. Am already concerned about maintenance!

Elephantino · 07/09/2024 13:20

@NowImNotDoingIt I was going to try and stay on 2.5mg for as long as I can. I know someone who hasn't actually gone up from 2.5 and on week 10 of still losing.

Obviously need to see how things go, tomorrow is the end of week 1 for me.

WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe · 07/09/2024 13:55

@alwaysscared I don't think I had any feelings after my first jab (Thursday), that weren't just me feeling jittery about doing it! I'm trying not to analyse myself too much though... But to reassure you, I've felt lots of hunger suppression already with no side effects so far.

@OldKnees We're nearly twins on start date / vital statistics! Hope things are going well for you.

@Sparklepunk did you find the needles? Like others, mine from medExp were in a clear bag with wipes (but they had all fallen out, so we're loose in the refrigerated box). They were in the same box, not loose in the wool!

Hope everyone's having a lovely weekend.

raspberrymeringue · 07/09/2024 13:57

@alwaysscared. Give it time, you’ve done the hardest part. Doing that first injection when you’ve never injected yourself before is a big step. The results seem to vary so much from person to person. And I think peoples expectations differ a lot too. My plan is to stick with it for the month as I’ve paid for it and then review the results. I did my first injection yesterday morning, I am not feeling hungry, got a slight headache, and feel a bit spaced out. I don’t think that is the medication. I think that’s the fact I haven’t eaten very much, especially very little carbs in the last 24 hours. Because I’ve had similar when I started very low cal diet. If you read the multiple threads on MN you’ll see that people have very different experiences. But on the whole reviews seem positive.

20bloodypounds · 07/09/2024 14:30

@alwaysscared I planned out my meals as if I was on a regular diet. For breakfast: Yogurt and healthy granola, or egg on toast. For lunch soup and bread, or salad with protein (chicken, tuna etc) then fresh fruit / nuts / yogurt. For dinner protein with lots of veg (salmon cous cous and veg or chille con carne and broccoli etc). Then I have snacks available of a few nuts, or some avocado dip, or celery/cucumber/carrot with cream cheese dip.

In the first couple of days I was surprised to find that I had no need of snacks. Today I didn't have breakfast, and didn't even feel like I wanted to finish my mid-morning cup of coffee. I am drinking lots of water and herb tea.

Even if you felt hungry this morning (afater all you've not eaten anything overnight), you might feel less hungry later in the day. Do you have a plan for what you will eat? I'm on day 4 and I've stopped worrying about whether I feel hungry or not, I just stick to my food plan - which doesn't feel like a diet battle. As @Mrsw123 wrote in an earlier post, I don't feel 'not hungry' but I don't feel ravenous either.

And I'm relieved to have had a night without heartburn / reflux. I had a small drink of milk before bed and had a higher pillow than normal. Maybe that helped or maybe the side effect is reducing. Either way I'm happy.

Wilkina1 · 07/09/2024 14:58

I was like you 6 days ago…… 1st jab. Honestly it was a nothing 😁

Sparklepunk · 07/09/2024 15:11

@WontLetThoseRobotsDefeatMe thank you for thinking about me. I’m hopeful that my first pack arrives on Monday. Il will look for the needles!

Do you do inner or outer thigh or does it not matter?

raspberrymeringue · 07/09/2024 18:10

Purplehearts757 I did mine right in the middle of the upper half of my left thigh. I've read virtually every thread on MN about Mounjaro, and people seemed to have less issues when injecting their thigh, so that's what I went for.

Thelastdietever · 07/09/2024 19:24

alwaysscared · 06/09/2024 17:34

I've done it, no going back now

Fab well done 👏

Thelastdietever · 07/09/2024 19:42

NowImNotDoingIt · 07/09/2024 10:12

Is everyone planning to go up to 5mg after the 4 weeks ?

I’m going to get the 5th dose then go up after that but as I’m only just going to week 2 we will see

Thelastdietever · 07/09/2024 19:52

Week 2 injection tomorrow this morning walking around a market with lots of food smells I really wanted food and it was hard to stop thinking about it. That’s the first time all week. It’s been weird how all week if I smelt food I fancied it for that moment but as soon as I got distracted I didn’t think about it again. Normally I couldn’t get the thought of eating out of my mind. I have tried to slow my eating as I snort food so fast it would be hard for my stomach to tell me fast enough 😜 a meal like a cooked breakfast would leave me feeling full about 3 hours later now I feel full about 30 mins so still away to go on the slowing down

OvaHere · 07/09/2024 20:12

Place marking. I took the plunge and ordered. Bit nervous now. I guess they'll come in a few days but might wait to start until next weekend.

Mosmam · 07/09/2024 20:24

So I'm just in week 1 day 3. I don't understand how if you can adjust the dose - why wouldn't you get the 5mg next time and just give yourself half a dose if you weren't sure. I guess there might be a cost difference. I know it has to be used within 30 days but your would
Then have a choice of sticking with 2.5 or going up to 5.

InfoSecInTheCity · 07/09/2024 20:31

Day 2 and at 876 calories consumed today, blood sugar levels have been great for the last 48 hrs and no nausea or anything. Happy so far.

85reasons · 07/09/2024 20:43

Just did my first injection today - about 35-45lb to lose, although as ever for me it’s the keeping it off long term that’s the concern. Off to read the thread!

OldKnees · 07/09/2024 21:50

What’s everyone eaten today? Day 1.5 for me (I injected just after lunch yesterday).

I’ve had:
Granola and Greek yoghurt for breakfast
Hot chocolate for elevenses
Smashed avo and crumbled feta on sourdough, with a few salad leaves for lunch
Two seeded crackers for supper - one with peanut butter, the other with Wensleydale and cranberries - plus a small packet of S&V crisps.

Not massively different from my usual food or amounts.

I’ve stopped eating early - around 6.30 - and just drunk camomile tea since then, to try to avoid a repeat of last night, when I felt pukey (and was a bit sick) and couldn’t sleep.
