I've just started this morning after months of research. Feeling nervous but excited. Any other new or existing users want to join support and share successes?

Food suppression has worn off today but only on day 5 so injection due Saturday.
Definitely a struggle at this time of day but only had 500 calls so far.
2 hard boiled eggs coming up and a mint tea to keep me going till tea

Yes mine too... I'm a bit hungry but it's manageable and I'm just under my goal calories so that's good! One aim for me is to learn not to be afraid of hunger so I'm glad I'm feeling it sometimes. I actually don't want to have no appetite at all ever! I'm away so my next jab won't be until Monday (should be Sunday), but I think it'll be fine.

One interesting side note is that I've inadvertently ended up almost 99% upf free over the last five days which is great!

BatFacedGirlll · 05/09/2024 23:23

@SpiderMother sounds like you've made a great start. I try and eat nutritious but normal foods, if that makes sense. I want to be able to sustain the loss going forward and it makes sense to have lost the weight eating what I'm likely to eat once I hit maintenance

My first dose has been dispatched

I have told my oh, no-one else knows. I've followed threads on MN for a while.

Looking forward to starting on Friday.

Same here - I’ve not told my OH, just 1 friend . Planning to inject either Friday night or Saturday morning. I think evening is probably better

poppy80 · 06/09/2024 06:23

I have gone from no real appetite on Wednesday to an almost normal appetite on Thursday. I've had 3 meals , probably smaller portions than I'm used to but did snack on chocolate in the afternoon. I'm due for dose 2 on Sunday so just need to be mindful about what I'm eating over the next couple of days.

Week 1 weigh in and I have lost 2.2lbs. Pretty happy with that. Will do my next injection when I get home from school tonight, I definitely feel the effects have worn off.

Morning!

I'm due my second injection tomorrow and the suppression has definitely worn off. I've been mindful and not gone over my calories as yet.

I struggle with anxiety and my eldest has started secondary school this week. I've been ridiculously anxious and not slept for a few nights worrying about things. It's been a really hard week but I'm so pleased I've not turned to chocolate or alcohol like I usually would.

I don't feel like I will have lost much weight but my tummy is less bloated.

SpottyBumPony · 06/09/2024 09:04

I was worried about the injection because I remember how much the the anti-clotting jabs I had after my c section hurt. But honestly this was fine, I didn’t even feel it.

I’ve had an immediate effect, a bit of heartburn and burps the first day but a huge decline in appetite. I’m going for intermittent fasting but not calorie counting as I think it will be more sustainable in the long term. So no breakfasts (but haven’t been hungry anyway), a bean, veg and egg burrito for lunch with some salad or sweetcorn, watermelon or apple then dinner. We had loaded Naan’s one night and Pizza and salad another - I comfortably ate about half of what I would normally do.

No urges to snack

ReadyForAction · 06/09/2024 09:18

@wohmum I'm planning on weighing myself now and taking my first does tonight.

I might tell my friend, I'm seeing her today. I'm going shopping tomorrow and will pick up lots of protein. I need a meal plan for the first week.

Mrsw123 · 06/09/2024 09:18

Had 1st injection last night. Feel normal this morning - maybe a bit burpy! Don't think I have the appetite suppression yet as do feel a bit hungry but we shall see!

Not a massive loss, but still a loss - drank a LOT less alcohol though, not because I didnt want to, but because I'm paying a lot for this, and dont want to waste the money

Same, I've no told anyone at all.

Also I was dying for a glass of wine last night but I didn't for exactly the same reason as you. I've not drunk alcohol for almost a week - this is huge for me!

spinningisthebest · 06/09/2024 10:32

@BatFacedGirlll just to add my thanks for the photos- I am similar to you so inspiring to see how well you are doing but also how good your face is looking- I am concerned that as I lose weight I will look older but you look great!

Belindabelle · 06/09/2024 10:33

My pen is arriving today. Think I will wait to Mon or Tue to start as weekends are busy at the moment.

Started cutting down on carbs on Tuesday and have lost a fair bit of water weight. Very interested to see what happens when the appetite suppression kicks in.

I am also going to try and give up alcohol initially. It will do wonders for my skin and general health. It will reduce my calories and aid weight loss. It will save money and help offset the cost of this.

Trying hard to stay on plan this weekend and not go into ‘last supper’ mode before my first jab.

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 06/09/2024 10:41

Morning all, I'm jumping in here as just had my first injection this morning. I have a LOT to lose so I'm really hoping this will work and that I can manage the side effects.

Great idea to have a thread for those starting at the same time. I have a friend who is 6m down the line and her top tip was to drink loads of water so I'm going to focus on that as it always helps me when I diet anyway. She has lost 20% of her body weight in six months with minimal side effects so I'm feeling inspired by her experience and hoping for the best. Good luck all 💪💪💪

Just ordered and been approved for first time.

SW 16.5 stone
goal weight 11.8 stone (initially)

Belindabelle · 06/09/2024 10:47

It’s just arrived but ice pack totally melted and the product doesn’t feel cold.

HippoPortlyMouse · 06/09/2024 11:00

Definitely no miracles for me just yet. First jab on Monday, felt like I had some suppression on Tuesday, but was hungry again by Wednesday. It's feeling like it's going to be a long weekend of needing willpower till the next jab! Honestly right now I feel like I'm on a regular diet where my brain complains constantly about food and I'm always hungry and/or getting annoyed with myself for overeating. I keep telling myself it's such early days... but of course I wanted immediate results (who wouldn't)? 😆

@Ggplot Ah, the Pumpkin Peri club! Yes there's a few of us in a age/weight/target situation I think. Oh and I spent ages staring at the needle being scared too. Was fine once I'd done it! I did get a skin reaction, but it's mostly faded now.

@BatFacedGirlll thank you for sharing your story! This is what I'm hoping for, long term, and why I am not getting despondent about not having immediate results - I know it will take time.

thisiswheretheseagullfliesaway · 06/09/2024 11:21

I was doing well until this morning and had a blip. My first injection was on Sunday and the hunger pangs have started creeping in. But one bad choice out of 20 odd is not too bad.

That's ok if you will use it within 30 days, which you should as it's your first pen and you start using it on Monday.

Belindabelle · 06/09/2024 12:35

Thanks @SilenceInside . I see this is not an uncommon occurrence.

Looking on the brightside I will definitely have to start on Monday (or before) so no wimping out!

Hira Malik from Oushk pharmacy will be doing a live tonight in the Oushk Support Group on fb. These lives are very informative and she will answer any questions you have regarding MJ or any other weight loss medications. She previously done them Mounjaro UK. This group is rebuilding here. I had reflux again last night and had to get up for some antacid. Hope that calms down soon. I'm planning to have dinner early tonight so ther's more time to digest everything.

Sparklepunk · 06/09/2024 14:43

Thank you all for your help with the Med Express photo. I went with leggings and a vest top in the end. I ‘ think’ it has been accepted as I received an email saying it was uploaded to my account and a prescriber will review. Fingers crossed but I don’t know how long I will have to wait!

alwaysscared · 06/09/2024 15:41

Today is the day. Still so nervous, argh.
My pen is a quick pen so doesn't have all the clicks, and also think it means I can't halve the dose etc, so I just have to go for it.
My mental health is so fragile at the moment, I'm so worried this is going to push me over the edge.

HippoPortlyMouse, I took my second jab on Tuesday and am only really now noticing suppression and reduction in foot noise (and not entirely convinced that's not a placebo/the fact I'm calorie controlling my food).

But I'm not worried - 5mg is therapeutic dose, this first month of 2.5mg is getting body used to it. So we just need to keep hanging on in there 😊
