Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

@Joaneczka
My meals are generally pretty healthy/ balanced in as much as we cook from scratch, lots of good quality protein and lots of vegetables. I’m terrible for my carbs though, and have a really sweet tooth.

My issue/ what always scuppers my weight loss is the snacking/ sugar cravings/ dare I say binge eating outside my normal meals.

I’ve lost up to 3 of the 4 stone I need to lose before, and for the last two years have fairly easily lost around 2 stone (once with intermittent fasting, and once with slimpod/ increasing exercise/ some fasting). These things always work and feel easy/ manageable at the start - then sooner or later I sabotage myself, go back to the sugary crap in between meals/ in the evening, tell myself it’s just this once/ just this weekend/ just until after X event etc. But then it’s just diminishing returns every time I try to get ‘back on it’.

The food noise for me is overwhelming- and the thing I’m really hoping this will help me with. Because I’m out of other ideas at this point.

That's great that you already have the healthy diet, it is a big step forward for sure. Omg yes the food noise is the worst, however after injecting today I don't have any and I hope it will last. If it will not go away for you on 2.5mg then maybe on the higher dose you will see the change. Fingers crossed. Good luck to all of us.

Boudica70 · 05/08/2024 14:32

I started on 17tj July. 3rd 2.5 injection tonight. Found it pretty easy so far and lost 7lbs. Appetite is minimal so eating so much less. Also have around 4 stone to lose.

WitchDancer · 05/08/2024 14:51

Whoop whoop, I've been prescribed so hopefully won't have much longer to wait

ohforgoodnessake · 05/08/2024 14:52

Another new starter here, first jab last night. It is very strange already, no tummy rumbles, I'm actually indifferent about food/eating for once - very strange.
I've been eating around 1400 cals for the past 2 weeks and have lost 5 lbs but I felt myself wavering so took the plunge.
I'm 61, have 4 stone to lose and am doing this because its the right thing to do for me. Fed up with being overweight, I've got to this weight over 20 years so it's not a quick fix. Lucky to have no health issues but find myself grunting from the effort when I get up from a chair, so have upped the daily step count.
I'm also needle phobic but it is tiny, so don't worry.
So far ? A wonder drug.

Mounjarome · 05/08/2024 14:56

Today. Is day 3 first injection was on Saturday and I don’t feel good- am nauseous and a bit uncomfortable. Had some loose bowel movement earlier too! Hope this passes as I wouldn’t carry on taking these if it means feeling like this all the time.
fingers crossed it passes soon.
al I’ve had today is a protein banana milkshake from Aldi and coffe and water so only about 250 kcal a so far dinner is a homemade milk chicken curry hope I can face it and it doesn’t cause more stomach problems!

Mounjarome · 05/08/2024 14:57

I don’t know where the milk chicken curry came from an erroneous milk slipped in there! Haha

Wingingit11 · 05/08/2024 16:12

Full day one today . Have felt completely wiped out of energy and had no appetite at all. It’s a revelation !

NippyCrab · 05/08/2024 16:18

First jab done 10 mins ago! Didn't feel a thing, I've taken a peppermint capsule just in case 😂 I'm praying I don't have the fatigue, I have Fibro and ME and don't need anymore 😅
Good luck to everyone starting today and this month too. X

trulybee · 05/08/2024 16:56

Day 4 and already food noise is starting to return. I can see I am not going to be one of those people who can stay on 2.5mg for a second month as it supresses the appetite enough. I am off work this week so took my two children to the cinema - they had some Pick and Mix (which is one thing I struggle to resist). Yesterday I wouldn't have been interested, today I struggled to resist. All other side effects have gone.

pateandbrie · 05/08/2024 17:14

@trulybee I'm with you, it's taken slightly longer (day 6) but I am starting to feel like I could do with a snack before dinner just now - I've barely been able to eat anything for the last few days, let alone think about snacking.

I'm not going to do it though. And I keep reminding myself that 2.5 is a subtherapeutic dose and lots of people don't get appetite suppression on it at all so I'm lucky to have had that - at least it shows that MJ has an effect on me!

Peacelily001 · 05/08/2024 17:24

My first day went without event (so far).
I feel a bit fuzzy headed and tired but that’s pretty much normal for me (menopausal).

Whats not normal though, is not wanting to eat. Blimey. I had two coffees this morning, then two scrambled eggs and an apple for lunch.
I’m going to have two chicken thighs and roasted veg for dinner.

I’ve read about paying attention to gut microbiome when using these injections.
Has anyone else made an effort to include more gut friendly foods?

lookathatbookcase · 05/08/2024 17:24

Notes on Day 1 (am keeping a food diary over on the food thread):

Not so much that I have no appetite, as there's something /between/ me and my appetite - I've eaten very tasty food all day but tiny portions which I've intentionally eaten very slowly. It's a weird cognitive friction thing where I know a snack would be delicious but I have no desire to eat one.

Quite tired by the end of the day, also a tiny headache. Peppermint oil capsule seems to have worked for any reflux and nausea. The Foodspring lemonade clear whey I got is delicious. Wondering if I also need electrolytes to help with energy.

Possible constipation? (I am generally very regular) - may need to pick up some physillium husk tomorrow if nothing has changed.

WorriedRelative · 05/08/2024 18:54

I just started today, first jab this afternoon, definitely didn't feel a thing.

Hoping side effects won't be too bad, I am a bit worried that I will feel awful.

Starting weight 103kg

First goal is 88kg so 15kg to lose.

CremeDeSudo · 05/08/2024 19:15

I had an email from Voy saying my order has been dispatched- do we think it'll arrive tmw? I'm in the office so need to leave the other half with instructions if so!

Potterson13 · 05/08/2024 19:48

First day done, yay!

Definitely noticed a lack of food noise. Didn't have a coffee at work but did have two peppermint teas. Made an effort to stick to calories. I'm going to try and stick to the family main meal, just a smaller portion. Tonight we had spaghetti bolognaise. The mince was less than 5% but I'm nervous it'll not go down well! Time will tell!

MissFancyDay · 05/08/2024 20:40

Just had a Royal Mail notification, it's being delivered tomorrow, it's becoming real now. I hope to start tomorrow or Wed morning, I'll see how much peace I get in the house, Dh works from home and Ds is home from university. I just want to get some peace and quiet to compose myself haha! And I'm keeping it to myself for now just to see how it goes.

At the moment I'm intermittent fasting, eating from 3pm to 9pm (mostly carbs admittedly) so may have to tweak the window if I'm not eating enough in my 6 hours.

I just want to thank everyone on this thread for all the information, hopefully I'll be able to contribute soon. I'm not sure where to start with the "continuing Mounjaro" threads, I might just start at thread 18 and work backwards.

MissFancyDay · 05/08/2024 20:43

Forgot to say, I'm fairly well prepared, vit pills, protein shakes, peppermint tea, fresh salad and chicken etc and a good hiding place in the fridge.

Addictedtobeauty · 06/08/2024 00:03

@MissFancyDay good luck for tomorrow,

Wingingit11 · 06/08/2024 07:05

Day two, woken with a hangover like head 😣

MrsHerbs79 · 06/08/2024 07:25

This was exactly me yesterday. Took first jag Friday, felt fine Sat but Sun and yesterday my head was absolutely splitting…….could not get any relief. Have woken today feeling better though xxx

DitzyDoes · 06/08/2024 07:32

Just did my first injection and have 5 stone to lose. I know the pen has 4 weeks so do you then need to order more or do the company contact you? Thanks in advance

trulybee · 06/08/2024 07:34

Day 5 since injection Friday lunchtime. I had suppression within hours, good suppression Saturday, diarrhoea and headache Saturday night. Sunday nausea, Monday felt much better with mild food noise. Today have woken up, feel great, have jiggly fat, no nausea. Looking foreward to injection 2 on Friday. Still have some degree of food noise. Hope everyone is doing well and congrats to those who have done their first injection xx

NippyCrab · 06/08/2024 08:10

Morning, first jab at 4pm yesterday, I didn't sleep too well, I was later than normal falling over and woke up 4am the half 5. I've felt heavy and a bit breathless as in as if Ive exerted myself (havent)
I've had coffee and breakfast, Greek yoghurt homemade granola and blueberries. I am tired but having ME and Fibro it could be the interrupted sleep and I've been busy the last few days. I'm heading out for a walk soon so hopefully the lethargy will subside. Xx

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 06/08/2024 08:31

I took my first jab yesterday mid morning and ate a protein thin with hummus just before.

It seemed to make me really thirsty. Had a salad for dinner and found it difficult to sleep.

Have woken this morning and all my fat feels very sore and tender. (Not my legs so much and I’m really hoping I can lose from there too).

My hips are sore, my back is really sore and the tops of my shoulders too.

Im still very thirsty and usually drink around 2 litres a day.

My manager will be happy if I can stop the food noise and focus on work instead!!

trulybee · 06/08/2024 08:33

@DitzyDoes You will need to order the next pen yourself.
I've ordered from medexpress and in my account it gives the earliest date I can order. I'll make sure I do it in good time as there seem to be delays at the moment.
