Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

Week 2.

Staying overnight in a hotel. Before I'd have had a full cooked breakfast, toast, pastries, the works.

Today I had a teeny tiny bowl of granola with Greek yogurt, half a slice of toast, half a slice of bacon and I'm completely stuffed.

Thanks trulybee! That’s a good idea, I just started writing down what I was eating and hoping to get some more protein in there!
Out if interest what protein shakes are you using?
I bought some of the Trimbella shake stuff a few weeks ago but it’s tastes absolutely disgusting 😝

I used PHD Diet Whey which you can get from Amazon and mix with water. My favourite flavours are Belgian Chocolate, Banana, Vanilla and Strawberry.I often throw in a handful of frozen strawberries which makes it really nice and cold. I also have Psyllium Husk powder which I've used in smoothies in the past for extra fibre but thought would be good to have on standby in case I get the dreaded constipation.

I also have Pink Lemonade Clear Whey from Bulk if I don't fancy a milkshake type drink.

I forgot to mention I also use Wellgard collagen powder in my coffee or protein shake once a day whether I need the protein or not. This is for skin elasticity but has an added bonus of having 11.7g of protein in a 13g serving (which is about 3 teaspoons) xx

HettieBettyBoo · 05/08/2024 08:51

Thank you @Potterson13 I’ve ordered collagen, magnesuim, a multivitamin, a bio culture complex and biotin. I keep reading of people suffering hair loss so I decided to start biotin early. to try and combat it.

I felt better yesterday after Saturday night incident. I’m not sure if it was the chips or a normal side effect tbh. I didn’t manage to eat much yesterday, 2 eggs mashed with a tomato, half a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a small baked potato, I’m going to try harder today. I was an evening snacker and it’s so odd not to be roaming the cupboards and fridge for snacks. I loved the odd Pepsi Max and it tastes kind of metally so I’m going to stick to water only. I’ve ordered some protein shakes this morning too as I can take them out with me.

GreyMoose44 · 05/08/2024 08:54

Morning everyone,

First jab on Saturday 14:30. No major side effects apart from strange taste in my mouth and excessive burping. Food noise definitely gone:)
I have read through posts on here to understand more what I should be eating etc.
I am going to try to add lots of protein to each meal as suggested on here. Aiming for 35-40grams per meal.

Best of luck everyone!

Today is Day 4 of week 1 after injecting Friday.I had a headache and diarrhoea Saturday night (sorry for TMI but think its good to share for those that have just injected in case they experience the same), felt a bit of nausea Sunday.I woke up this morning with no headache or nausea and feel like the suppression has slightly worn off. Not to a massive extent but its still there. To be expected as early days and low dose. Hope everyone is doing/feeling well on it.

One think I've noticed is jiggly fat this morning! I don't know if anyone else experienced this but when on a diet my fat become less firm and more jiggly just before I lose some weight! My stomach feels jiggly this morning! I don't know if anyone else experiences this or I am completely mad!

HettieBettyBoo · 05/08/2024 09:12

@trulybee I had exactly the same on Saturday night and was nauseous and really tired yesterday. I still have a very dull headache today.

Princessandthepie · 05/08/2024 09:33

Morning all.

Weighed this morning and have lost the gained 1lb!

But still feeling very bloated (constipated) but not hungry, I haven't felt hungry for anything since injecting. I've eaten because I have to but since Saturday morning, I've had 2 apples, 1 carrot, 1 ham roll, 2 small dinners and not a drop of wine.
I was hoping for more of a loss but hey ho, maybe I'm a slow burner.

I am amazed at the food noise switching off, even the wine noise has gone.

Though I do need to think about food in terms of some prep, this afternoon I'm going to boil eggs and grill some chicken so I can make breakfast and lunch and know I have good choices already prepped over the next few days.

Have a good Monday everyone 😊

NippyCrab · 05/08/2024 09:45

Good morning everyone, today is my start day, DH goes away around 3pm for his next 10 day rotation and it's my first jab. I'm putting it off, I'm a fearty of the tiredness side effect, even though I might not get any 😂 I'll wait till he leaves and then jab.
A wee question, I'm with Voy, do they automatically up the dose monthly of you are on subscription or do you discuss with them and choose? X

NippyCrab · 05/08/2024 09:47

I've posted this on the wrong thread sorry 😞 x

ToriMJ · 05/08/2024 10:02

Good luck to the new starters. I started the 15th july thread, I'm taking jab no 4 tomorrow and have found it totally mind blowing.
I've been on and off a diet my whole life, and the mounjaro has changed things for me in an unbelievable way in this first month. Food noise gone, 12lb off in three weeks.

My top tips.
Don't stab yourself when you put the needle in the bin- remember there's a needle both sides so don't push it in the sharps bin with the back. (Few of us did this!)

Hold it in your skin for 5 seconds after you've pushed the plunger all the way to make sure it all stays in.

Eat as 'clean' as you can, I found that fatty food like bacon caused me digestive upset. Give yourself the best chance of a positive experience by eating well.

All the water, get a nice water bottle and really put an effort into getting 2 litres absolute minimum a day.

Peppermint tea- makes all gurgle, burpy stuff feel better.

Most of the initial side effects will go by week 3 if you're listening to what your body is reacting too. Eat certain things- get certain effects- tweak food choices.

Just do it. If you're wobbling on the fence about the first jab etc I'd suggest just doing in. I sat with mine in the fridge for a very long time and now I wish I'd just got on with it. Don't overthink it once you've made your decision.

Good luck!

I think they will auto increase you, if you message them they are very happy to change date/dose. I stayed 2.5 for month too as working very well.

Omg yes to jiggly. It's about how much fat is stored there- harder fat is more fat.

Happyearlyretirement · 05/08/2024 10:28

Can I please ask, can you do clicks with it as you could with Saxenda, I was very ill on higher doses so was advised to do clicks as a work up and that was great. I need to loose 2 stone but am scared of feeling ill again on a high starting dose.

WitchDancer · 05/08/2024 10:43

I'm still waiting for approval on the prescription, which is super frustrating. I ordered Wednesday from MedExpress so I don't think it's me being impatient to start! I think if I don't hear anything today I'll have to contact them and see what's occurring.

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 05/08/2024 11:51

I’ve done it! Felt a little freaked out at how far out the syringe went, and lost some of the liquid when it came out of fat whilst injecting. But hey, first dose, so lesson learnt.

thanks for the info of supplements and
protein drinks. Will get some bits ordered.

I’ve been eating less in anticipation, but just weighed my self and have gone up to 14st 3!

Potterson13 · 05/08/2024 12:00

So I'm almost 24hrs post first dose. Feel ok, slightly tired and I've been to the toilet three times since 7pm last night (not diarrhoea or even loose - TMI but as others have said we're all in this together Wink) just felt the need to go which is unlike me. It's not bothering me though. I'm also not hungry at all. I'm at work and would normally be craving a coffee by now but I'm not. I did have my usual one this morning though. I've managed a banana and about to have a fibre/protein shake. Very surreal I must say. I don't want to go ridiculously low on calories for maintenance reasons and also it can't be good for you so making a conscious effort to fuel my body.

Hi, I am very motivated to succeed in this journey. I have been struggling with my weight since lockdowns, need to lose nearly 3 stones.
I have done my injection today in the morning, so far I feel slightly tired and I can already feel my appetite to suppress. Such a strange feeling, very new for me. I would normally grab food without thinking about it, now I tried to eat my breakfast and I had to force myself to do it. I am really excited and I am looking forward to what the journey brings.

Thank you @Potterson13 yes it is indeed. I am planning to eat between 800-1000 calories per day as I don't think I will be physically able to eat more

AuntieDote · 05/08/2024 13:54

I injected my first dose around 10 last night. I don’t feel brilliant today - feel kind of heavy, a very low level headache and just feel exhausted. Also spent a very long time on the loo this morning and burping lots. Feel quite brain foggy and fuzzy headed but I’m peri anyway so that’s pretty standard.

So maybe some side effects but also I felt like I was maybe coming down with something all weekend anyway, so possibly that. Ideally I suppose I should have waited to inject (my original plan was tomorrow anyway) but I felt like I suddenly had the courage to do it so decided to get on with it!

Think there’s some suppression going on, food noise is quieter but not completely gone. Couldn’t face breakfast but felt hungry around 10 so had a small banana and a teaspoon of peanut butter (random but I’m quite obsessed with peanut butter to be fair!).

I prepared some Greek yoghurt with berries, more peanut butter and some mixed nuts and seeds to bring with me to work, which I’ve just had. I’ve also had a very small square of cake which was foisted on me as it’s someone’s birthday - genuinely only one mouthful. Whereas normally I’d now be thinking about heading to the kitchen to hoover up some of the leftovers/ looking for something else sweet - I honestly don’t want any more.

I can’t work out if I feel hungry or not - I think not but I’m aware my food today has all been sweet and tomorrow I need to look at some decent, savoury protein.

I have read a lot in regards to how to prepare your body for this and I have already changed my diet prior to today, adding a little of healthy proteins and veggies. Healthy diet seems to lower the negative symptoms. I am having now salads with feta for breakfast, yogurt as a snack during the day, fish with veggies for lunch/dinner. I can recommend doing meal preps for the week, it works for me so I know I have all my macros

AuntieDote · 05/08/2024 14:16

@Joaneczka
My meals are generally pretty healthy/ balanced in as much as we cook from scratch, lots of good quality protein and lots of vegetables. I’m terrible for my carbs though, and have a really sweet tooth.

My issue/ what always scuppers my weight loss is the snacking/ sugar cravings/ dare I say binge eating outside my normal meals.

I’ve lost up to 3 of the 4 stone I need to lose before, and for the last two years have fairly easily lost around 2 stone (once with intermittent fasting, and once with slimpod/ increasing exercise/ some fasting). These things always work and feel easy/ manageable at the start - then sooner or later I sabotage myself, go back to the sugary crap in between meals/ in the evening, tell myself it’s just this once/ just this weekend/ just until after X event etc. But then it’s just diminishing returns every time I try to get ‘back on it’.

The food noise for me is overwhelming- and the thing I’m really hoping this will help me with. Because I’m out of other ideas at this point.
