Just started.

Would be great to hear from others who are just starting.

First injection was was 28th July. No side effects so far. Appetite is decreasing but not as much as I've seen on other threads.

4 stone at least to lose.

I'm going to use this thread to give myself an online record.

@Addictedtobeauty I've done it Blush I decided if I didn't do it today I would end up putting it off. I'm going to see how I go, it does say in the booklet that you can move your day as long as it's been 3 days since your last injection. So if I find that I need it more over the weekends I do have that option. I also decided I'd rather feel a bit ropey at work than over the weekend with my kids. I do have my own office and a loo.

I'm now panicking though. I did it about 10 minutes ago and I'm imagining every allergic reaction under the sun. I thought I'd conquered my health anxiety years ago but I'm now convinced I'm going to have a heart attack or a stroke in the next half an hour. Going off to do some breathing and have a word with myself!

24 hours since my first injection. I wasn’t feeling very very hungry at all last night so had a small portion of skinny fries, that’s all I could manage. Wakened this morning at 4,30 with the worst diahorrea and sickness, that settled quickly. Im blaming the chips as I’ve read on some groups too much fat can make you sick.

I’m feeling quite tired this morning but I think thats more to do with broken sleep as I normally sleep 9 hours really well.

I’ve had two eggs mashed in a cup with tomato this morning, I couldn’t face anything more. I’ve had an electrode drink as well and I’m going to up my water intake today, I’ve also ordered a few vitamins.

What vitamins are people taking if any?

I take collegen and a multivitamin every day anyway but I've got some probiotics as I've read they're helpful regarding the gastrointestinal side effects. I've also ordered some biotin to keep my hair healthy. Other than that I'm not really planning on taking anything extra. I know electrolytes are important but I drink a lot of water anyway so hoping that'll be okay.

sundaysunday2024 · 04/08/2024 16:37

@CoffeeAndEnnui 👋 fellow PCOS'er here. I've never taken Metformin although was offered it in the past when I was ttc. I think that's why I feel ok with taking mounjaro ie it's another diabetic med used off label for something different. Any reason for using zava via Asda? I went directly with zava as it's much cheaper.

My food intake today has been much reduced from usual
B: 1 slice toast with butter
L: 1 mini sausage roll
Snacks: Muller light yoghurt, 1/4 apple, a plum

I eat far healthier when I'm at work! The weekend is harder with the kids about. We've been swimming today so I'm surprised I'm not hungrier.

Mounjarome · 04/08/2024 17:16

@Potterson13 itotally get it I am the same I almost bottled out yesterday but managed to do my first injection am then tried to keep busy for the next hour so I wasn’t focusing so much on if I was going to have a severe reaction. It’s now been 24 hours and apart from a bruise on my thigh and slight tinging that went away I am fine. I also had a bit of acid reflux but I suffer from that anyway. I also felt quite anxious last kick just before bed but that is better today.
I don’t think anything has kicked in yet as I’m feeling quite hungry I’ve had a sandwich earlier and a pack of crisps about 20 mins ago and I’m still hungry could easily eat another 2-3 packets (which is what I would normally do) the only thing stopping me is I’m worried it would make me sick or have diarrhoea.

when did the appetite suppression kick in for everyone?

Wingingit11 · 04/08/2024 17:16

@CoffeeAndEnnui I did Asda - approved really quickly like next day and I collected from pharmacy so super convenient. I have a discount on the discount thread if you want it.

so anyway I have my own day in fridge and was planning to jab today for first time but feel scared it’s going to have some awful effect on me 🫣

NippyCrab · 04/08/2024 17:30

Hello hello, I'm ready to start tomorrow once DH goes away again for work. I need to lose 3.5 stone. I got mine from Voy, ordered on the Sunday last week, it was approved Monday and I got my delivery on the Tuesday. I've been eating okay so far without the jag but it never lasts, I always fall of the healthy eating and binge. I've had one hip replacement 10 years ago and my other side is grumbling, I know losing weight will help me so much. I don't go to the gym, I walk a lot but I know I need some strength/resistance training.
If anyone wants a code for Voy, £90 off (£139 cost) PM me.
I'm hoping I don't have a nausea side effect, I've got ginger tea and peppermint tea ready 😋 xxx

whethertheweather · 04/08/2024 17:30

I did my 1st injection yesterday. Today I'm just not hungry, which is a slightly weird feeling. I had my usual 2 weetabix with blueberries and skimmed milk for breakfast, then just a hard boiled egg for lunch as I thought I should. I'll have chicken and salad tonight and fingers crossed that will go down OK.

I've yo yo dieted all my adult life, up or down 4 or 5 stone. Menopausal now and stuck in the up phase! Diet and exercise not working so well so I'm really hoping this gives me the ability to reset. I'm sick of my weight holding me back from doing all the things I want to do so I've decided to give it a go. Im so glad this thread is here.

Wingingit11 · 04/08/2024 17:55

Ok I have braved up and it is done ! Weigh in tomorrow!

LastTimeLosingIt · 04/08/2024 18:15

Saying hello, I'm new to MJ and new to this thread (but a long time MNetter).

Started a low-carb diet six weeks ago after extensive guidance from Consultant Cardiologist (as I'd had some nasty chest pain but he said it wasn't cardiac)...but he went on to say that all the Cardiology conferences he attends at the moment are saying about the wonderful results weight-loss injections are having for cardiology patients , and therefore that he supported my decision to start taking them.

Three days later I went on a two week all inclusive cruise! So I decided that given somebody else was cooking for me, that I would start the carb free on day one of the cruise.

Day 2 I felt crap - same as I've had before when I've gone low-carb.
But days 3-14 were great: ate lots but it was always a low carb option.

Also went to the gym on board four or five times, just trying to get back into exercise after a long break and lots of injuries.

Came back and weighed myself today and have lost 6 pounds ON THE CRUISE?!

Obviously delighted.

Started 2.5mg of week 1 yesterday. Possible side effect of loose stools but to be honest it's been a relief after a few weeks days of the opposite issue!

Otherwise I feel normal. No reduction in appetite.

Height 5'10"
SW 28.06.24 - 20' 12.5"- BMI 42.
Weight on day 1 of MJ - 19'9.5" - BMI 39.6.
Loss so far with low carb only: 1'3"
Loss so far with MJ: 0
Total loss so far: 1'3" in 5 weeks.

Addictedtobeauty · 04/08/2024 18:21

Well done everyone, our journey has begun. I’m so excited to see how it impacts us all over the next few months. I hope we reach our goals. I love reading all the personal experiences- it makes me feel less shame and more motivated to do this one thing for me. Sometimes, it feels extreme but I’m more accepting the more I read and I’ve worked really hard on trying to do it by myself, in more conventional ways with no success. I now think of it as no different to any vanity project (like teeth whitening, for example, that people do without even thinking) but with a lot more benefit if it works. I focus on how much healthier I will be, all the knee pain that will go, how my clothes will fit, how much better I will feel in myself- increased confidence, more energy, able to buy clothes anywhere and not stick to the shops that run big. I look forward to people not judging what I choose at meals out -the ‘you’re having that?’ With raised eyebrows as if I have no right to eat anything other than salad because I’m fat. The benefits go on and on. It is expensive but the girl maths stacks up and the expense is keeping me in check- this has to work, there’s really nowhere else to go.

trulybee · 04/08/2024 19:16

Hi Everyone, I hope all is well. I read a really interesting book when I was on holiday which helped me make the final decision to take weight loss injections (Ozempic in this case) but he also talks about Mounjaro and how it differs.

Its called 'Magic Pill' by Johann Hari. He has had a lifelong problem with food obsession, starting from childhood, decided to take injections and wrote about his experiences. It is a balanced argument around weight loss injections and he talks quite alot about the food industry, growing obesity in the west, people whose live have been transformed and some potential side effects. There is no scare mongering in this book and I found it a really enjoyable and informative read. There is also an excellent video on YouTube where he is on the Diary of a CEO channel and talks about his book and experiences with weight loss injections. Really recommend it.

MissFancyDay · 04/08/2024 19:39

I've been approved and my Mounjaro will be arriving mid week. I can't wait to begin.

I know it's not a quick fix and without effort and life style change, and I actually managed to lose 3 stone in 2021 on Fast800. So I can change my eating habits. I just want a rest, to eat healthily without the constant lure of crisps and bread.

I am so excited to join you all.

lookathatbookcase · 04/08/2024 20:22

Reporting for duty :)

I've just taken my first dose an hour ago - had to fully psych myself up to do it, was so scared I'd inject into the wrong place or have a hideous reaction. Also have felt really blue about it getting to this place where I'm taking weight loss medication, and sad because I'm not going to be talking about it with any of my friends and family who would massively disapprove :(

I've been prepping to do this for a while tho - have been recording what I eat for a few months just to get a sense of patterns (and how to eat enough protein), and upping the exercise with weights / yoga / swimming. I've got multivitaims, clear whey drinks, and peppermint oil capsules; want to get some collagen and psyllium husk too.

Starting weight is 98kg, size 18 - hoping to get to a size 14 which.I think will be about 70kg on me. Excited but also quite scared!

Octypuss · 04/08/2024 20:35

Another (Mounjaro) newbie here, joining the thread!

Mine arrived yesterday (from Asda). It's in the fridge but I'm nervous to start... I have tomorrow and Tuesday off work, so I may start tomorrow if I can pluck up the courage 😬

Alwayshockey · 04/08/2024 20:45

I did my second MJ jab today and I've lost 6.5lb. Really pleased with that and absolutely amazed at how well I've felt all week. The jab must be having a good effect on my blood sugar as I'm not tired and I'm not weak or dizzy like I usually am if I drop calories. I've eaten really well, about 1100 calories a day, plenty of protein, veg, fruit and some wholegrain. No processed food. It's been so easy compared to anything else. I have loads to lose but I feel really hopeful now.

Mounjarome · 04/08/2024 20:59

@Alwayshockey thats a great loss well done 👍

well after my previous post saying I didn’t think the appetite suppression had kicked in I made dinner and actually left a quarter of the portion on my plate! I just didn’t want anymore and felt full. Before this I would have wolfed it down and pushed through it as I never really felt truly full.
I have worked out my calories for today and have only had about 870 kcals.

Potterson13 · 04/08/2024 21:13

6 hours post first jab... almost definitely a placebo (the power of the brain never ceases to amaze me) but I feel slightly nauseous. Had a few suspicious tummy gurgles a few hours ago too. Oh well can't back out now! Will see what the week brings!

Usernamechangeforthis12 · 04/08/2024 21:57

Mine arrived this afternoon so I’m going to use it tomorrow morning. Feeling nervous, hopeful, excited.
I’m planning to work from home for the forseeable in case of side effects.

good luck everyone

AuntieDote · 04/08/2024 22:09

Just done my first injection - was planning on waiting till Tuesday but got impatient and thought might as well get started - got a heavy day tomorrow though so hoping side effects are minimal!

I'd really appreciate a link to the discount thread so I can find your code, thank you, @Wingingit11. @sundaysunday2024 , honestly I think I panicked and clicked the most recognisable name to come up is the glut of search results. I'll have a look at going direct too, thank you.

*in

Wingingit11 · 05/08/2024 03:24

@CoffeeAndEnnui I’ll dm you, let me know if you don’t get it !

@Potterson13 i felt the same - didn’t have tea and wondered if should have a protein shake about 9 but it really didn’t call to me !

Cleverchops · 05/08/2024 07:18

Hi everyone, pleased to join you! I had my first injection on Saturday after thinking about doing this for a while. I have woken up this morning and I think something has clicked with the food noise.
i am planning on making some healthy salads etc and keeping them in the fridge… what protein foods are people going to have?
I feel a bit stressed as doing it in secret have husband and two daughters in their late teens. Just want to see if I can do it on my own and give myself a kickstart. I hadn’t weighed myself for ages and got a shock 😮
Good luck everyone! We should be proud we are taking control and doing this for our future selves.

trulybee · 05/08/2024 08:05

@Cleverchops For protein I am eating a lot of chicken, eggs, tuna, fish and Greek yogurt. I plan my meals on fitness pal and aim for between 100 and 120g protein. If after trying to get my protein from natural food sources my protein is low, I will add in a protein shake to my plan. It's really important to make sure you keep your protein up as we want to lose fat and not muscle (some can't be avoided) as this slows your metabolism down - thinking ahead for maintenance. Also aiming for minimum 10k steps which I do anyway and weight training at home as I have selecttech adjustable dumbbells. I do weights usually anyway but have been on holiday for three weeks so need to get back into it. Good luck and welcome!

Cleverchops · 05/08/2024 08:28

Thanks trulybee! That’s a good idea, I just started writing down what I was eating and hoping to get some more protein in there!
Out if interest what protein shakes are you using?
I bought some of the Trimbella shake stuff a few weeks ago but it’s tastes absolutely disgusting 😝
